Babygirl, I have to give you a dose of salt.  It may hurt a bit however, what doesn't kill you only make you stronger. 

From your post, you sound more upset that you fed him than the fact he cheated on you with his girlfriend best friend.  True friends doesn't sleep together unless they are Friends with benefits.  Because if you didn't have a problem with "feeding or supporting" him it wouldn't show on your post. 

Relationships are like contracts, you may get a good or bad deal depending on whom you have entered a contract with.  All monies, sweat, attention, time, tears, joy, laughters, food, water, pain, and every factors shared are not wasted because you have gained something from it.  All experiences may not necessarily give you the "good" feel but you can use what you have learned vicariously.

Unfortunately, you gotten the bad deal and you have invested tremendously on the "he may propose" fantasy.  Yes, I said fantasy because it wasn't real   The problem with most women is we tend to give the men whom we have a relationship with every fiber of our being without realizing that we have to put ourselves first. 

I am not saying that you shouldn't invest the fiber of your being however I am only saying go about it with you in mind.  I am going to wrap it up with this because I do not want to be responsible for your high blood pressure with excessive salt. 

There are two types of women when it come to men. 

Jump off women who have invested foolishly without putting themselves first and given up all the "milk" without the "investment" at the end.

"The wifey", a woman he will die and kill another for if he truly loves and respect her.  She may or may not have given up all the "milk" but her "investments" paid off at the end. 

Good news baby girl!  You do not have to remain the "jump off" woman and you will become "the wifey" to the right man some day.  Keep your chin up.  It will be alright.

It all comes down to personal opinion, really. Some people like it, some people don't. Personally, I'd rather be the one proposing, but I see no problem with a woman proposing to me. That just means she beats me to it, but it's all fair game.

Traditional men are like that and there is nothing wrong with that.  However, the relationship dynamics have shifted over 3 decades and the "typical" roles between men and women are not applicable in this society. 

Each relationship is different and we shouldn't expect others to follow OUR perception of what is right or wrong.

I do not chase men and find men to be weird specimens. However, I do not judge women who proposes to their boyfriends either. If it works for them more power to them.

I do not live my life vicariously through others.

In this day and age, men are not "hunting" and women are not "waiting to be snatched as a prize". There are women who have proposed to the men and have a great relationship. DIfferent stroke for different folks.

What works for one may not works for the other.

Not unless it's absolutely necessary.  Being newly married myself (9 weeks), I didn't change my phone number or delete any of my social networking websites.  When I decided to move on with my life from them, I cut loose all "exes" and "unhealthy" relationships so I can start a new life.  Eventually, they didn't remember my phone number nor do I remember theres.  There would be no reason to keep in contact with them since I have no "ties" to them.  If a person is dealing with an "unstable" person who can't let go or what have you, then the person may just have to take the necessary precautions to keep the "undesirables" out of their life.

The ideal thing to do for MOST sane persons is to take care of the past baggage BEFORE moving into a new relationship that way there wouldn't be any lingering problems but SOME people are too selfish that they want to hold on the past and the future not giving a damn if it may cause issues in their relationship or marriage.

"Girls" wouldn't have much to offer since they are not "women" yet. Most real "women" have alot to offer a man. Since women were made to be a real "man's" help mate. I never went into any relationship thinking selfishly of what's in it for me. A relationship, should be mutual giving/receiving unselfishly. I am a very independent woman. And through the love, grace and mercy of God who can and have held her own down so I don't need a "man" to take care of me. When I sought a partner, it was for just that, a "partnership". Someone to spend the rest of my life with, to be each other's back bone, a companion, someone who I can share and show my love to. I don't alway's seek my "reward" with my mate. I look to God because he has and is my "rewarder" and know's how to take care of His child. If you find yourself dealing with "girls" who always seek "compensation" for any "good" they do or not holding up their "side" of the relationship, then maybe you should stop dating "girls" and upgrade to a "woman".
