www.punchng.com/news/edo-security-chiefs-political-parties-hold-peace-talks/ OCTOBER 27, 2014 BY OKERE ALEXANDER, BENIN Following the crisis rocking the Edo State House of Assembly, heads of security agencies on Monday held a peace meeting with leaders of All Progressives Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party as part of efforts to restore normalcy to the state. Briefing journalists after the four-hour closed-door meeting held at the state police command headquarters in Benin, the Commissioner of Police, Folusho Adebanjo, explained that the meeting afforded the participants the avenue to identify the various issues of contention and fashion out ways to reconcile the two parties. Adebanjo, who was flanked by the Fourth Brigade Army Commander, Brigadier-General Fidelis Azinta, and the State Director of the Department of Security, Bello Bakori, decried recent political wrangling among the two major political parties, which he said did not “augur well for peace and security as the countdown to 2015 elections approaches.” “The evident state of chaos and disorder among the elected members of the House of Assembly is clearly inimical to the tenets and principles of good democratic practice. “It is sad that the people are being denied of good laws and no dividends of democracy can be achieved in an atmosphere of chaos, confusion and lack of order,” he said. Speaking at the end of the meeting, the State Chairman of the PDP, Chief Dan Orbih, described the meeting as a good process towards maintaining peace in the state. “Well, you can see that the two political parties are present here. We are happy that we have started the process of talking about the need to maintain peace in the state. “I believe that it is a right step in the right direction and I think that Edo people are eager to have the political parties come together for the good of the people.” Also speaking, the State Chairman of the APC, Barrister Anselm Ojezua, while commending the security agencies for creating the reconciliation process, expressed optimism that the move would open other opportunities for both parties chart a course for peace. Ojezua said, “We have to appreciate the concerted efforts of the security agencies to ensure that we revert to a peaceful situation in our state. “We can say that we have had very useful discussions today. One thing is for sure, we have also resolved thagoing forward, we are going to resort to peaceful solutions in resolving our differences “So to that extent, I think we have had a good start and I’m very confident that it will help. |
That's a good news. |
It's not wrong to say that some if not most graduates and undergraduate end up doing courses they didn't bargain for. This is due to various reasons which include; 1. Choice of department while in secondary school. 2. JAMB score. 3. Post UTME score. I have a younger brother who is doing Office Technology Management just because he scored below the required mark for Mass Communication, we had a conversation recently and he told me he still aspire to be a mass communicator though he is enjoying the course does now. On a personal note, I'd love to do any engineering course if I have the second chance. I want us to discuss this to know if my hypothesis is right. Share with us your course of study and the course you'd like to do if you have another chance and the reason(s) for your choice. |

President Goodluck Jonathan on Sunday warned Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State against “reckless and irresponsible” comments aimed at blackmailing the Presidency and inciting Nigerians against the government. Apart from accusing Amaechi of misappropriation of the funds belonging to Rivers State, the President reminded him of possible repercussions for his current actions when he is shred of gubernatorial immunity after leaving office next year. Jonathan, who is on a pilgrimage to Israel, was reacting to the political rally of the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) organised by Amaechi in the state capital, Port Harcourt, during which he branded the President a non- performer and a disappointment to Rivers people and Nigerians. Jonathan in a statement issued by his spokesman, Reuben Abati, said the governor had crossed the red line in his selfish political agenda by resorting to libel, blackmail, incitement and immoral, baseless falsehood against the President, the First Lady and the Federal Government. Abati said the Presidency was aware that Amaechi had squandered the resources of Rivers State on dubious projects, but warned that “a day of reckoning will surely come when he will answer for all his actions and false allegations against President Jonathan, the First Lady and the Federal Government.” The Presidency further asked Amaechi to stop trying to make Jonathan a scape-goat in a bid to cover up his failings as governor of Rivers State for eight years. The statement reads: “Governor Rotimi Amaechi took his obnoxious willingness to denigrate the highest office in the land in a reckless bid to advance his selfish political interests to a new level of irresponsible and rascally behaviour yesterday in Port Harcourt with his totally false and baseless vituperations against President Jonathan, the First Lady and the Federal Government. “It appears from the Governor’s completely unfounded and off-the- mark allegations that he had totally lost all sense of propriety, decorum and responsible political behaviour and resorted to unacceptable demagoguery, libel, blackmail and incitement of public disorder. “Unless his unbridled ambition and desire for self- promotion have completely befuddled his mental faculties and caused him to totally lose touch with reality, Governor Amaechi must know that his claims and allegations are untrue. “We can only assume therefore that he is deliberately spewing malicious falsehood in a desperate effort to incite the people of Rivers State and Nigeria against his assumed political foes. “We warn him that there are legal, constitutional and moral limits to political rascality beyond which he will not be allowed to go without repercussions. “The immunity which he currently enjoys notwithstanding, Governor Amaechi should be under no illusions: A day of reckoning will surely come when he will answer for all his actions and false allegations against President Jonathan, the First Lady and the Federal Government. “He should also know that Nigerians are aware of the truth and will never be fooled or swayed by his arrant opportunism and anti-Jonathan rantings. “Nigerians know that while Mr. Amaechi falsely accuses others of corruption, he cannot show or explain to the people of Rivers State what he has done with the billions of Naira that has accrued to the state under his tenure. “They also know that while Amaechi continues to falsely accuse the Jonathan Administration of having done nothing for Rivers State, he has recklessly squandered huge state resources on dubious, vain-glorious projects or self-aggrandizement. “Nigerians will know too that while he falsely alleges that Rivers and other states have not received funds due to them from the Federation account, the only outstanding allocation was for September, which was released to all states well over a week ago. “The Governor should stop trying to make President Jonathan the scapegoat for his woeful performance in Rivers State and look to his own very apparent failings and incompetence. “He should also stop blackmailing the First Lady who has demanded nothing from him other than good governance, justice, equity, fairness, real development and progress in Rivers State.” In another development, Governor Seriake Dickson has declared that the politics of Bayelsa State was characterised by treachery, disloyalty and pull-him-down syndrome before the emergence of the present administration. Dickson buttressed his observation on the state’s divisive politics, saying that the state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party usually gets factionalised three months after any sitting governor sets up a political structure. “For those of you who have been involved in the politics of this state for sometime, you know that in Bayelsa, immediately a governor sets up any structure because of the essential divisive nature of politics in this state before now, two or three months down the line, you will see the party factionalised. “Let no one’s personal ambition be too big for the stability of our state,” he cautioned. dailyindependentnig.com/2014/10/youll-pay-sins-office-jonathan-tells-amaechi/ |

Dream has been described as a series of images, ideas, emotions, and sensations occurring involuntarily in the mind during certain stages of sleep. Dreams can be really weird a times while some dream can be life defining. I share my dream experience under the different categories of dreams have I have gathered below; 1. Daydreams Daydreaming is classified as a level of consciousness between sleep and wakefulness. Studies show that you have the tendency to daydream an average of 70-120 minutes a day. It occurs during waking hours when you let your imagination carry you away. As your mind begins to wander and your level of awareness decreases, you lose yourself in your imagined scenario and fantasy. *My Experience: I was sitting in a commercial bus traveling to Jos, after long wait inside, I dreamt that I have landed somewhere in UK. Imagining Nigeria become UK onof a sudden. 2. False Awakening Dreams Have you ever thought you have waken up and gone about your daily morning routine: getting up, brushing your teeth, eating breakfast and going to work, only to wake up "again" and realize that what just happened is just a dream. That sensation is referred to as a false awakening. *My Experience: While I was writing my final exam during my secondary school days, I dreamt I have completed the exam and started celebrating with my friend, only wake up and find out I'm still on the desk where I read overnight. 3. Lucid Dreams Lucid dreams occur when you realize you are dreaming. "Wait a second. This is only a dream!" Most dreamers wake themselves up once they realize that they are dreaming. Other dreamers have cultivated the skill to remain in the lucid state of dreaming. They become an active participant in their own dreams, making decisions in their dreams and influencing the dream's outcome without awakening. 4. Nightmares A nightmare is a disturbing dream that causes you to wake up feeling anxious and frightened. Nightmares may be a response to real life trauma and situations. These type of nightmares fall under a special category called Post- traumatic Stress Nightmare (PSN). Nightmares may also occur because you have ignored or refused to accept a particular life situation. Research shows that most people who have regular nightmares have a family history of psychiatric problems, are involved in a rocky relationship or have had bad drug experiences. These people may have also contemplated suicide. Nightmares are an indication of a fear that needs to be acknowledged and confronted. It is a way for the subconscious to wake up and take notice. 4. Recurring Dreams Recurring dreams repeat themselves with little variation in story or theme. These dreams may be positive, but most often they are nightmarish in content. Dreams may recur because a conflict depicted in the dream remains unresolved or ignored. Once you find a resolution to the problem, your recurring dreams will cease. Find out more about your recurring dreams. 5. Healing Dreams Healing dreams serve as messages for the dreamer in regards to their health. The Ancient Greeks called these dreams "prodromic". Many dream experts believe that dreams can help in avoiding potential health problems and healing when you are ill or when you are grieving. Research shows that asthma and migraine sufferers have certain types of dreams before an attack. Your bodies are able to communicate to your mind through dreams. The dreams can "tell" you that something is not quite right with your bodies even before any physical symptoms show up. Dreams of this nature may be telling the dreamer that he or she needs to go to the dentist or doctor. If you can understand the language of dreams, your dreams will serve as an invaluable early warning system. They can help inform, advise and heal. 6. Prophetic Dreams Prophetic dreams, also referred to as precognitive or psychic dreams, are dreams that seemingly foretell the future. One rational theory to explain this phenomenon is that your dreaming mind is able to piece together bits of information and observation that you may normally overlook or that you do not seriously consider. In other words, your unconscious mind knows what is coming before you consciously piece together the same information. 7. Signal Dreams Signal dreams help you how to solve problems or make decisions in your waking life. 8. Epic Dreams Epic dreams (also referred to as Great Dreams, Cosmic Dreams or Numinous Dreams) are so huge, so compelling, and so vivid that you cannot ignore them. The details of such dreams remain with you for years, as if you just dreamt it last night. These dreams possess much beauty and contain many archetypal symbology. When you wake up from such a dream, you feel that you have discovered something profound or amazing about yourself or about the world. It feels like a life-changing experience. Learn how to recognize an epic dream. 9. Progressive Dreams Progressive dreams occur when you have a sequence of dreams that continue over a period of nights. The dream continues where you left off the previous night. Such dreams are problem-solving dreams and help to explore different options and various approaches to a problem, situation or relationship. 10. Mutual Dreams Mutual dreams are described as such when two people have the same dream. Mutual dreams may be planned, meaning that two people actively work toward achieving one dream scenario or goal. It is a way to improve communication and build trust. Mutual dreams can also be spontaneous. You find out that a friend, a significant other, faraway relative, or someone has had the same dream on the same night as you. Not much study has gone into the phenomenon of mutual dreams, but there is a very strong bond that exist between these two people. *My Experience: My self and were appointed as a committee chairman and secretary of CDA project and we often deliberate on means of generation fund. I woke on morning and he promptly mentioned a name, which I already dreamt of overnight. SHARE your dream experience! |

Ok FP! It's going to be a great weekend. Off Topic: mukina2, maclatunji, Oga Seun, Pls do the needful on this thread, it another Friday. www.nairaland.com/1888631/etiquette-salat-al-jumuah-friday-prayer |
