Your last paragraph which has to do with your personal experience and conviction contract your initial question which in turn proved the guy to be right.
I guess you didn't understand the grammar I used. The guy said categorically that the kid is gonna suffer. Like he was entirely sure about it.

My answer to him was that, while I don't recommend it, it's not 100% that the kid is gonna suffer it. Some do suffer, some don't (Like me). Thanks

like you said.. not all kids can handle it.. Parents put a lot of pressure on kids when it comes to education and the stakes are high.. school fees are astronomical and they typically want them in a university as early as possible. all these go into pushing the kid beyond his natural abilities.. the brain is young and sharp, it will adapt, but the mind won't it is still a kid
Yes. Very true. That's why I said in my last paragraph that I wouldn't encourage it. The mind might not be able to handle it, it has adverse effects on some kids. Some kids can, some can't

so he left primary school @8yrs
entered sec school and wrote WAEC at age 13 in sec school(coz if it were to be external exams, the result won't be usable that same year)
...and got admission that same year of 13

he will suffer later....coz he's bypassing a crucial phase of life....

Suffer later? Well, it depends on the child. I got into high school aged 8, graduated high school aged 14, went to Uni at 15 cos I had to wait to write JAMB, and also got my masters as well. I didn't suffer.

The only side effect was that a lot of my mates in secondary schools who knew my age bullied me as in Junior Secondary. But I got wiser and it stopped in Senior Secondary. So it all depends on the child. Some can handle it, so cannot.

I don't really support it though, cos not all kids can handle it like I do. I won't allow any of my kids to skip grades crazily, like I did.

Business / Re: My First Bank Mastercard Was Hacked In The USA by MsNas(f): 4:45pm On Oct 22, 2015
Normally, the financial institution (either credit or debit) are the ones who are supposed to take control of the situation and rectify the issue.

That being said. It happens like that. It could be different scenarios.

1. You used the card online and you mistakenly hit "Pay" twice at checkout. This has happened to me before. I was trying to buy an airline ticket and my wifi went off immediately I pressed send. Since it didn't go through, I retried it. It was days later that I was checking my credit card bill, when I noticed. I called my credit card company and they told me to call American Airlines. When I did, they told me it was pending at their end, but if the transaction goes through, they will refund me. I was eventually refunded after like 2 days.

2. You used your debit card in-store at best-buy and one fraudulent employee ran your card twice so he/she can pocket the rest. I've heard cases of that happening at Walmart and restaurants. This one is harder to solve and you might not get your money. I used my card to buy gas one day, and after I got the alert for the gas I bought, few minutes later, I got another alert. That was after I had left the gas station. I called my credit card company again, and they said they will open a dispute with the merchant. They did, but the merchant (Chevron) refused to respond on time. The CC providers just removed the charges from my bill. I don't know how they did it

That being said, I always advocate for people to either pay with a credit card or cash. Disputes concerning debit cards are a pain and most times never solved. The US is also notorious for those kinds of card frauds. This is no news.

If your card was issued with a US bank, it would have even been better. Nigerian banks are notorious for frustrating people when it comes to crediting money they overcharged you for. Goodluck dealing with the CSRs at Nigerian banks.

@MsNas , slimmy05 , and all my Gurus in the building . . . I have a BIG Problem which requires your input .

These individual in question has always been there for me eversince he embark on his journey for a greener pasture .

I have a big bro over there in NYC who went via student visa but never honoured the invitation(Although ,i was never in support of it). So,along the line, He got a naija student pregnant.

My Question is ,
1.Hope the lady's student visa won't be cancelled?

2.Will she be allowed to continue her studies after nursing her baby?

3.What is the faith of the unborn child ?

4.Does my bro has any right to claim that he his the father of the unborn child ?

5.What's gonna be the hope of both the girl and the baby when she finally delivers the baby ,will they be deported ?

6. Is there any hope of him upgrading his status since the lady isnt a citizen ?

To me, these questions would nt av arise if perhaps the lady in question was to be a citizen , atleast to the best of my knowledge(not sure o) she could have file for the father of her baby.

So ,these is another ball game which needs an urgent answer from my fellow good and patriotic naija .
Eseun , Modupe o.
1. No. The lady's visa won't be cancelled. It doesn't matter if she's pregnant or not, or even who the father is. That's none of anybody's business.

2. Of course yes. She will be able to continue her education. My friend had a baby while doing her masters (she's married tho) and even was going to school and doing her TA jobs. She might not be able to take a leave of absence to nurse the child as she has to follow the premise of her F-1 visa, which is "Continous attendance at a US institution".

3. The baby is an American citizen immediately he/she is born. It doesn't even matter if either or both of her parents are illegal. He/she is also entitled to some benefits(don't quote me on this tho. I'm not entirely sure)

4. Yes. Your brother can claim fatherhood of the child. His name will be on the child's birth certificate issued by the hospital naming him as the father. He might also be told to sign it. This is known as Acknowledgement of Paternity.

5. No. Neither mother or child are gonna be deported. The child is a US citizen born on the soil. Where do they wanna deport him/her to? The mother won't be deported so far she has not committed any offense that warrants deportation. And as far as I know, having a child while on F-1 visa is not an offense, let alone an offense that warrants deportation.

6. Well, me I don't know about that o. None of them are USCs or permanent residents. So it's either one or both adjusts status through the H1B => GC => USC route, through marriage, or simply wait till the child is 18 and files an immigrant petition for both parents, I simply don't know how they wanna adjust status. Either way, tell them to brace up. It's not gonna get easy and they have a long path to chart. Tell them I wish them Godspeed.

I asked him to return to Nigeria as a precautionary measure and not other way round because he is on tourist visa.

You ought to have asked how long he'll probably stay in the US before his petition gets approved. And please talk to me in a good manner and not Mr. Man.

After all, nobody knows it all. Again, I am only concerned with "abandoned petition" that's why I advised him to return home while the wife files for him.

Did i talk about K1 visa? No. So why bring it up here? Is it to show superiority or something?
And since you decided to start editing your post, realize I might have bruised your ego. My apologies cheesy

This is no talk of showing superiority or whatever you call it, this is just about letting you know the advise you're giving the poster is not entirely right. And if you'd answer this, what petition or visa would you suggest she files for him when he goes to Nigeria? Please enlighten me and also let me know how long those petition take as opposed to filing for AOS while present in the US.

No. You can't be concerned about abandoned petition and also asked him to return home. None of them match up.

If you knew anything about this, you'll know that as soon as he files for AOS, his status is legal and pending Adjustment of Status. It doesn't matter how long he's been in the US, if he's legal or not or even if he entered the US on a B1/B2 visa. So far he was admitted legally at a point of entry the first time he made entry into the US, all sins are forgiven the moment he sends his papers to the USCIS.

So, no. There is no correlation between asking him to return to Nigeria and an abandoned petition when he hasn't even filed for AOS in the first place. Have a great morning

You go ahead with the marriage but it can only be done in Nigeria, after that you return to America and file for him. Court-wedding is much more suitable at this stage and is required by the US Embassy.

Also, if he's truly divorced, then he needs to have a certificate of divorce before he proceeds with court-wedding.

Better he stays in Nigeria while you file for him.
That's not true Mr Man. He doesn't have to go to Nigeria before she files for him. If he goes back, he has to file a K-1 petition but if he stays here he only needs to file for AOS (Adjustment of Status)

You realize how long both K-1 and AOS takes right? K-1 takes forever and AOS can take as short as 4months. AOS is his surest bet. Telling him to go back to Nigeria and all the reasons you listed has no basis. He can file for AOS here so far he has all his divorce papers and stuff. Even if he doesn't have it, he can always have it couried to him.

Also, while filing for AOS if at anytime he lives to go to Nigeria or any other part of the world, they consider his petition abandoned unless he applied and is approved for advanced parole. So no, it's not better for him to go to Nigeria and she file from when he is there.

That is exactly my point!

Foreign student and credit card shouldn't be found in the same sentence.

That's not entirely true. While I agree that credit cards are bad for people who don't have their finances sorted out well (especially students... Either foreign or domestic) if you have the discipline to handle your finances well. Why not?

I have not 1, not two credit cards with very very very tidy limits but I don't have any debts on them. Why? Because I learned how to manage my finances. I don't go around buying $300 purses or flying across the world using credit. I do not charge anything in my credit card that I don't have the money for. I pay in full on every one of them each month. Why do I have it? I need the credit score and many of them give very nice rewards for using those card.

So if you're international and can handle you card well, why not? The whole statement of Foreign student and credit cards not being found in the same statement is just making a moutain out of a molehill. IJS!

Isn't it the same story with Nigerians living in the US? You mean all those Nigerian cab drivers all over New York City just have naij accent but they aren't Nigerians, no? All those Nigerians on canal street aren't Nigerians? The ones all over Brooklyn who look like they just left the boat aren't Nigerians?

When did the population of Nigerians in the UK get to 2million where there aren't even 2million black Africans in the UK? A lot of you just get gassed off London and start throwing millions around. I doubt there are up to 500,000 Nigerians even in London where 80% of Nigerians in the UK live.

As soon as I saw Peckham in North London - I knew this clown has no clue about what he is saying. Peckham is in South London. And statistically there should be more Nigerians around Thamesmead/Bexley and Thurrock axis (maybe Havering) than Peckham today. It changed time ago but a lot of Nigerians still come to Peckham to shop tho.

Anyway, the hustle is real.
But I've not heard any law enforcement officer just walk over to you and ask you to show your papers; when you have not done anything. How are you though? Long time no see grin

This is disheartening. I would rather live in Nigeria and be drinking Garri and peanuts everyday than live in the Uk and be harassed everyday by the police. Living the life of an illegal immigrant is worse than hell itself. No peace of mind, no sound sleep, always worrying, always watching your back. Horrible way to live

When people told me law enforcement stop people and ask for papers on the streets I thought they were joking until I watched all those immigration shows on YouTube. Pathetic is to say the least. Nobody will stop you in America to bring your papers. To the best of my knowledge sha Oo.

Besides, that boy when he has grown to discover that his dad is black, a Nigerian, that when Jim Iyke will know that he made a mistake. It would have even been good that the boy was a bit dark, but all white? No naa.

I know of a Nigerian doctor, an Akwa-ibomite that married a white woman. All his children didn't want to come home, though the wife was faithful to him till he died, but after the wife died, the children came and took her away. I'm even sure that all the things the man was able to acquire here in Nigeria is being fought and shared by his kinsmen.
Most mixed race children are very white from birth. They get darker with age

The rest of your post is on point tho. Very true. Most of those mixed race children with Nigerian fathers hardly ever identify with their father's lineage. They will tell you my Dad is black and that is it. Some of them that are light enough even pass for white sef. You will never know they are half and half. lol

You don't best a child in my presence; not even yours. Corporal punishment is also criminal in Lagos state. The problem is that we abdicate our responsibility. I was nearly killed in the name of discipline and I know the lasting impression.

Lmao. You can't get epo in Mexican stores. But I think I've sent it in once Chinese store in North Little Rock before. I even forgot to include Chinese stores. They sell Nigerian kinds of stuff too. What I enjoy buying from there though is fish. They sell the Nigerian kinda of mackerel (commonly called alaran) and since that is the only fish I can tolerate I'm in bliss. I've seen oloyin beans, dried fish, dried pepper, curry and all other stuff there too

Check out Indian stores too. They have cheap food too. What we usually buy there is rice. They have this box of parboiled rice....almost 28lbs for $12. It will last you very very long. Walmart sells a bag of its 1lb rice for $5.99 or so. Not economical.

Okay, I don spend IIE money reach! Now I need to farabale! shocked I don reluctantly eat leafs tire.

This is the thing: How do I survive a month (cooking) with a budget of $100 max on groceries? Please, consider this as an SOS call! Thank you.
$100 is even too much sef (at least for me. Lol). I'm assuming you have Nigerian food stashed up in your house, they make your grocery shopping less expensive and this is why I always tell anybody I know coming from Nigeria to bring lots and lots of food. Infact, the only thing I ask from my mom is to send me Nigerian food as I am a picky eater and barely eat American. Most of the time, I don't spend up to a $100 on groceries a month when I'm in Arkansas cos its only me and I have almost everything I need for food. All I get is cereal, veggies (spinach and those peas and stuff), chicken or beef, and some other stuff.

I will suggest you buy those things at Walmart or Kroger (if you have those around), and buy them in bulk, you get, more value for your money that way. Don't go to places like Vons or Safeway, things are more expensive. If y'all have those Mexican grocery stores around, they're your surest bet. Groceries are cheaper there and the food is somewhat similar to African food. I spend less than $100 shopping for a whole month at those stores and gosh, everywhere will be filled by the time you're done shopping with $80

Best of all, know the stores that have the cheapest prices on different items so that you can clock in some awesome savings. Although I need to warn you that it's a pain shopping for groceries at different stores without a car but I tell you its worth it. Like sometimes, Vons sell red bell peppers for 3 piece a dollar, while walmart has their's for $1.58 a piece, but I also won't buy water from Vons cos a pack of 24 Aquafina costs almost $8 while a 32 pack of the same brand costs less than $5 at walmart. See how much you can save by buying bell pepper from Vons and water from Walmart. cheesy cheesy It can seem inconsequential but if you're an heavy shopper or eater, you will actually save quite a few bucks. By the time you've done grocery shopping for three or four months, you'll know which stores have the best deals on which item and know how to plan your shopping. Goodluck grin
