Sir Riddy,

Towards the end of your email, let the guy know that you will be more than eager to provide samples of the work you have done if he needs it. That is if you have projects you've worked on (codes, algorithms and all). You should be good after that.

I remember how I almost slipped while trying to have a pose with the Little Rock 9 statues at the State Capitol. No thanks to the sleets. grin grin (then, I remembered your warning). I can't remember the thread title now. I would check up, later. Eku sleet o.
Yeah. Exactly! AR is beautiful but the weather na die. I remember wearing Uggs on that stupid sleet when I first got here. You know they don't have any threading under the sole. Mehn, na so I for die by slipping and splitting my head open. But God said, Thou Shall not die grin When next you come to AR, go to Fort Smith, Texarkana and Hot Springs. Its beautiful down there. I do not like Little Rock, too much crackheads up there. grin

That highlighted part makes me doff my hat for you all in Ark... *doffs*LOL* I wouldn't forget my experience in a jiffy. #I came visiting Little Rock, same time, last year. And, I had a dose of the climatic condition, which led to our program schedule disrupted, Schools, Offices, restaurant CLOSED. Such a 'unique' State in comparism with others, visited. I remember we chatted in one of the threads (Canada), last year. Thank you for the heads up. grin
No Kidding! Arkansas is really a unique state. You will not believe I was still wearing shorts on saturday cos the weather was like 20OC. Now it has dropped to -10OC. Lmao. And funny enough it doesn't really snow here, it sleets and rains ice! I mean Ice falls from the sky like rain. And when it does, the ice weighs down the power lines and poof! Electricity and internet is gone. The sleet also make it impossible to go out cos it so slippery and will destroy the soles of your boots. angry Lol. I sure will miss this place after graduation cheesy Such funny weather. I knew the sunshine and good weather we have been having all winter will come back and haunt us cry cry

Make sure you come back in the Fall/Summer. That time na tornado galore. Na every week tornado dey shakara us. grin Wait o, we talked on the Canadian thread?

Please, I need to ask a question about transcript evaluation. I got my transcripts from
my department this morning and even though there were errors there, I quickly used
foreigncredits.org to do a quick evaluation. 3.67/5.0 gave me a 3.28/4.0

How reliable is this estimate please? Thanks for your contributions.

By the way, it has been a while I heard anything from msnas.

Anyone knows what's up with her?
I'm good. Thanks for asking about me. I just watch from the sidelines, come in here briefly and read. You know the semester is kicking it up a notch smiley

We're snowed and iced in down in AR today, classes and school cancelled, so I get a break from school. #Finally!

Politics / Re: Presidency Lists Grouse With February Polls Date by MsNas(f): 7:51pm On Feb 06, 2015
So, they did not realize that before fixing that date for the polls? These people are a joke. I might be wrong, but I am of the opinion that proper logistics and analysis would have been done before fixing a date. All parties concerned would have to sign of on the date and adequate preparation towards the success would have started since then.

All these delay tactics is just pathetic and insane. Is it now that they realized that conducting the elections on February 14 (Literally, few days away) "will throw the country into turmoil and confusion.” as they said? Jeez. That country is a joke! A huge one at that. SMH.

I hate generalizing but there are stuffs that I see that I find nauseating and its

1: Using hand and water to clean annus after toilet ..what happened to toilet rolls

2: Its the act of cooking with brooms ..that I find nauseating ..that is why I have not been able to taste ewedu soup honestly ...I have seen them mashing it

3: Next is eating amala and that same ewedu in same plate . It make me wanna puke

4: Then farting

But I believe that some are different cos I have met some really decent and quiet Yoruba dude like my friend Segun

Not all Yoruba are dirty and I know few are neat

In term of neatness I give it to efik
I will reply you one after the other..

1 you mean to tell me you've been to every household in Nigeria and know what everybody uses to clean up their as.ss? Please do tell me oo. FYI, Arabs do that do

2 Try and educate yourself. Those 'brooms' as you call it have never been used to sweep the floor. It is made for that sole purpose. Nobody is begging you to eat ewedu, we can manage it all. FYI, the same way you cannot eat it is the same way I might puke if I taste some Igbo food. So yeah, nobody cares.

3: Seriously, how is that your business Lmao. Wonders shall never end. Last I heard, it is our tradition and nobody begged you to like it. The same way you people eat that goat thingy inside mortars is really disgusting.

4: Lmaooooo!! cheesy So you don't fart? Please tell me more. I never knew Yoruba people are the only people that fart in the universe.

Hey Guys, I just got wind of an information , that new international students are no longer entitled to the summer break and they must take summer classes. Can anybody confirm this .
What school and state are you? Cos last I heard, SEVIS only require you to take 9 credit hours (6 hours if you're a graduate or research assistant) as a graduate student. Summers are supposed to be free cos that is the time people get the chance to visit their home country.

Maybe it's your school that changed its policy. I haven't gotten such email

Thank you and I really appreciate your response, The course is PhD in (Exploration) Geophysics,
I'v read about the school / Dept requirements onLine, but I'm yet to confirm frm the Profs concerning the issue of Education Degree, I'l contact them ASAP,
My Course is a 4 year course at Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo, Affliated to Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife.
Please do contact Professors or program directors to know how they go about their application. This is an excerpt I got from the UND Geology program's webpage.
1. For admission to the geology Ph.D. program, applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree in geology from an
accredited college or university or otherwise demonstrate sufficient coursework, training, or experience in
geoscience.
2. For “approved” status, students must have completed a 5-6 credit hour geology field course, along with
satisfactory achievement in supporting science and mathematics, as determined by the department graduate
admissions committee
.

The other schools you posted were not really clear on their specifications. Also, I think what they offer is PhD Geology and not PhD Geophyics. Those are two different courses.

Physics Education, bt my school awards ( BSc(Ed)), Presently 4.68 on a scale of 5.00,
I'm in my final semesta here.
You've got a very good GPA there! If I'm right, you're going for Phd in Geology/Geophysics? Did you contact the schools you mentioned in your previous post? I might not be 100% right, but maybe you should talk to professors in your intended department first to know if they accept students with education degrees for their masters/PhD programs, then you can go from there. I said that because education is a whole different faculty here and they do their things separate. At least from my limited knowledge.

If you don't mind me asking, is your course a 4 year course? What school is it?

That's the dumbest argument ever against the unprecedented success of the iPhone. [b]

So anyone who buys one is a blockhead. Great. but ive always found android users mostly settling for less since most find the iphone beyond their limited means. Thus the proliferation of cheap tecnos and gionees and thl and god knows how many number of insanely inelegant knockoffs, the poor man's iphone.

Me, i straddle both worlds. I was among the first to own an iphone in nigeria (2 days after release in 2007), dig up my nairaland posts from the past (as neoteny and then ex inferis).
ive owned all iterations. Now i use the galaxy s5 only because of the pedometer and s health app (im diabetic) but only before the apple watch is unleashed.

1 reason iphone is better than android: iphone still sells like hotcakes

Apple posted a net profit of 18 billion dollars...in 1 quarter!

18 billion dollars
1 quarter

Thats the most profit of any company in history and ios devices account for almost 70% of apples revenues.

Apple is right now the world biggest smartphone manufacturer, shipping 76 million devices compared to samsungs 72 million.

the most profitable and biggest android vendor, samsung, is losing money and market share.

So in sum apple is skyrocketing and samsung is declining while you're here listing a string of pointless features.

Disclaimer: i have an ipad air, a macbook air, and a samsung galaxy s5 as my primary device.
Because most of the buyers are gullible Americans who follow the trend. Most people here use the iPhone cos its the fad and its easier for older people to use than the Droids. Most phone carriers always carry the iPhone brands and its easier to upgrade. It's the younger people that use droids.

I for one would like to go back to my BB10, the galaxy is just to clunky for me. I'm never getting an iPhone cos I don't wanna be locked down on proprietary rights with apple.

jst call immigration and thats all, and nobody will see him in US ever.
She can only call Immigration if she's even sure about the man's real name and details. It's a long shot, considering the fact that she didn't even file papers for the man. On what ground will she say she wants to call USCIS on ICE or the man's arsee? That he said he loved her and he doesn't love her anymore? From what she wrote, I'm also pretty sure the guy didn't come here on a K-1 visa, therefore she has no tenable argument. The guys at USCIS and ICE have better things to do than to listen to those stories.

But if reverse is the case and probably the guy came here through her or she's in the process of filing papers for him, by all means let her call the Immigration and the mumu guy's lying arsee be sent on the first freight plane to Nigeria.

Funny!! But I never had problem with him having a facebook. But everytime we try to fix it. It got hacked. Which he was upset cause his friends and family was on there. They even hacked his email. But the problem was someone in Nigeria I guess he pissed off. But he had two facebooks. One is still up but he was locked out. The other someone kept erasing the info on it. That happens all the time. People even make duplicate of your page to get to your friends to cause problems. Nobody cares about facebook. I have hundreds more friends then he did. Not that kind of problems. People that get upset cause your man talks to his ex or to female friends are petty and insecure. When he was here I never felt insecure. We were together all the time. He kept me at his side. I speak to his family still.
Hey, easy tiger! I never said you had a problem with him having a Facebook. I said he might be lying his Facebook got hacked or something. I am an IT guy and I know about the clones of Facebook pages. But your so called husband is also Nigerian, these are my people and I know them like the back of my hand. You might have loved him but there's a very huge and probable fact that the feelings ain't mutual.

I know as an American, you might find it hard that someone could lie that much and really well. Well newsflash, we are pros. Most of us can lie off the top of our head if need be. Cut your loses and move on. There are bigger and much more delicious fishes in the ocean. But if you don't want that, then you can maintain the status quo.

You were cussing out a poster up on there, it ain't my business but, cool it sister. You came on a Nigerian forum and they told you as is it, don't come on here cussing.

I have read through all your comments OP. First he was browsing on a dating site on his wedding night?! because he is bored- off all the days in his life to be bored it is on his wedding night?! haba? Someone took over his facebook page? He had a good paying job with a so called company callled Purple Rain- i bet such company doesn't exist. Never heard of it. From my observations you are sooooo in love you cannot read in between the lines. The man's story is simply not adding up at all. You are just ready to believe any story he throws at you hook line and sinker. As a citizen, Once you are dating someone without work permit/ papers you have to be extremely careful and cautious so you don't allow yourself to be used for papers. You said you dated this guy for weeks only before marrying. In my opinion i believe you are being lied to and being used. He doesn't love you as much as you love him. If he did he wont be treating you this way. That man is not truthful, honest or even straightforward. If you had dated him longer you would have seen this traits. Sorry for what you are going through.
Thank you jare! I know someone here who came here through his African American wife (Older woman o). This guy has been here more than 5 years and has been professing love to this woman, just to get her to stay in line cos of his papers, yet no love was lost in between them. He even has a steady girlfriend in Nigeria who knows this guy is married and living with an Akata woman here. Yet the girl won't leave him because she knows he's with her for papers

The OP said her husband doesn't have facebook! Lmao. Lies!! cheesy This my friend too, his AA wife thinks he doesn't have Facebook cos they fought when she found out he was chatting up girls on there and he had to deactivate the Facebook to placate here. But dude has Facebook, he just has it under another name. The OP is being lied to and used. It walks like a duck, quacks like a duck... It is a duck.

I think coming here was a BIG mistake... Some Nigerians (especially the females) think[b] that Nigerian guys only marry for the papers when in a foreign land (cos they only marry for the cash anywhere they are)
Not think, I know so. I've seen this kinds of scenario way too many times. A lot (not all) of Nigerian men marry for papers. The OP claimed she's American, but I'm having a hard time believing that. The story itself is so disjointed and not adding up. How will a man who obviously doesn't have papers and is married to you.... a USC, just up and leave like that? Weird.

OP said she speaks to his family? Darling, if the story itself is true then talking to the family of a Nigerian man does not mean jackshit! They know their son, brother, nephew, uncle or whatnot is stringing you along yet they pull you in for a ride. Especially when they know what their person stands to gain from marrying you.

I've seen many Nigerian/White, Nigerian/African American marriages and all are with language barriers of itself, yet they are surviving. Saying he left you cos of the language barrier is weird. And you haven't even been married for that long o. So many loopholes in the story, it makes my head ache
