Is there an access road to your site, i ask because almost 3 decades ago when I used to holiday in Ibadan, my aunt had a house someone near ring road or so, it was a hilly secluded area and I think they must have had to construct the road by themselves.

Yes, there is a road leading to the site. From the express way to the site the road is paved. The paved road ends in the area I bought land which was Virgin land up until this past April when people started buying and clearing their land. My site is in an established neighborhood, but it's just a new section that has been sold.


We have a "neighborhood chairman". When the time comes, he is supposed to get in touch with owners about paving the remaining roads.

Thank you. He said smaller rig. He said it goes just as deep and the borehole would end up the same as if it was done by the big rig.

I asked why it was cheaper, but he kept saying it is because it's smaller. Doesn't make sense to me. I was hoping someone would know.

My people, I need your help in confirming borehole drilling.


I spoke to another borehole drilling operator and I was given another quote of N450K.

He later said it can be done for N300K if they use a smaller drill.

My question is, has anyone heard of using a smaller drill for a borhole?

I wasn't aware of varying sizes of drilling machines allowing one to do the job at a cheaper cost.

You should have someone proofread your copy.

My sister told me breaking rocks is like killing an ant in Saki. The woman happens to be her landlady so she do see her every time breaking them and selling to people to build their houses.

Oga buy jackhammer from any garage sales or refurbished tools shop and send home. Hire one operator and a labourer to deal with the boulders.

Boulders tremble at the sight of correct jackhammer.

Buying and shipping a jackhammer home, even a used one, could end up costing over N100K. I'm sure there are options available in Nigeria.

no that wrong. A breaker is an excavator that has a big hammer attach to it at the boom, which is power by hadraulic. (nt a bucket attach to it boom) i.e a breaker can move to where the big bolders is,for further fragmentation. Is an heavy duty machine. I will upload breaker pix tomorow.

The cost of Concrete from Mixer Trucks is more than that of the manual ones. The advantage over Manual Labour mix is Speed. Its way faster for sure. So as a result where its advantage can be significant is if you have a lager size of concrete requirement and little time to complete concrete cast, then you can opt for mixers. except you have money to show off.

The manual mixer is faster? I would have thought the truck is.

Same quality in the mix and monolithic foundation I assume.

Approximately how much do you think you would have paid to fill the forms had you used the truck mixer?

I've seen concrete mixer trucks in Lagos and I've seen it used on one of the Nairalnad builds. For such a large quantity of concrete, why aren't concrete mixer trucks used over manual mixing and dumping?

I imagine there would be significant benefits in filling the forms in a few hours than filling it in a day or two - efficiency, better quality monolithic concrete pour. I don't know their cost so that may be the reason why its not widely used.

That your land area... it's not surprise that the excavation doesn't look neat... too rocky. It looks ok though, especially in the last pic.

Very rocky. They've been digging for two full days now. I was told some areas were extremely difficult to dig.

Re: the alakuta's you mentioned sometime ago. My people have asked around and haven't been able to locate any alakuta's.

If anyone knows of alakuta's (manual boulder breakers) in Ibadan or that can travel to Ibadan, please let me know. Ese!!
