Yours is a lot cheaper than mine. My own survey says 97 meters with not so much water underneath. They charged me 800k for everything but no guarantee of adequate water. I decided to do wells. I have three wells dug and cost me about 300k. We pumped water out of the three wells for two hours each and more than enough water in those well. I'm satisfied.

Wow! 800K is a lot. Does that include the pump and accessories or just drilling and casing?

Not sure how they figure it out, but the report says there is commercial quantity available. Maybe I can start a water bottle factory

That is commonplace in my part of the world. I've even reimbursed a neighbour who put up a fence without my prior agreement, for the sake of good neighbourliness on a rental property. He put up the fence right on the property line thereby "encroaching" and stealing 3inches of my land due to the width of the fence. I had the property line staked out by a survey company, pointed out to him his error, and i reimbursed him for half of the material costs attributable to the side of the shared fence.

He agreed it wasn't fair to expect me to pay for his labour costs as he did the work by himself and some of his friends. We had a good handshake and he has been helpful keeping an eye on the tenants for me.

EXCAVATION
The excavation of the site is billed per meter along the perimeter of the site. The perimeter of the fence is estimated to be 87m ( the length of the gate was subtracted from the perimeter of the whole site to arrive at this figure)
The labourers charge between 500-600 naira per meter depending on location. For Awka they charge 600naira
The Total cost of the excavation = 500 x 87
= 52,200 naira
CONCREATE WORK
Concrete is a building material made form the mixture cement, fine aggregate (sand), course aggregate ( gravel) in a mixing medium (water). The various constituent are mixed in a specified ratio. 1 (cement );2 ( sand) ;4 (Gravel) is the mix ratio for this job
The volume of the concrete is estimated by multiplying the length of our RC beam(Perimeter of the fence) X the Depth of the beam X the breath of the beam
Volume of concrete = 87 x 0.225 x 0.5
=9.79m3
The value obtained has to be increased by 25% to cater for concrete shrinkage and wastage during casting
Actual volume of concrete = 1.25 x 9.79
=12.24m3
Cement
The volume of cement required to mix 12.24m3 of concrete is obtained from the specified ratio 1;2;4
Volume of cement = 12.24 (volume of concrete) x 1 ( ratio of cement in the mixture) / 7 ( total ratio of the constituent concrete materials)
= 12.24 x 1/7
= 1.74 m3
The volume of cement we just obtained has to be converted into a unit you can use to purchase cement from your local supplier( They supplier in 50kg bags of cement)
There is a mathematical relationship between density, volume and mass
where Density = mass/ volume
And the density of cement has been obtained through laboratory experiment to be 1506kg/m3
therefore Mass = Density x Volume
= 1506 x 1.74
= 2620kg
A bag of cement is 50kg
Total number of bags required = 2620/50
=53 bags of cement

Please excuse my ignorance. Is "RC Beam" short for reinforced concrete beam?

If so, will all fence projects require a RC beam? If all fence projects do not require RC beams, how do you determine which do/don't?

Is it possible to deliver 40 tons of stone dust in 1 trip or will it have to be broken up into 2 trips of 20 tons? I received a quote which states 30 tons of sand will be 60K. I know you've been campaigning for the use of stone dust over sand so I wanted to give it a try for my upcoming fence work.

How much would 40 tons of stone dust be and number of trips?

I am broke!!! But my broda, it's a must. My neighbor is building too close for my comfort. In order to do the fence, the boulders needed to be removed.

After the fence goes up, I will take a break.

Its only Malla's hand that can handle it, i had a double casted retaining wall, malla drilled hole inside it within a few hours, plumber/bricklayer didnt not go near it when asked.

Just ask around for Mallam, you mobilise them small to buy new tools etc. At least thats what i did sha.
The dynamite idea should work logically, but I personally will not want dynamites on my site, what if they leave un-exploded ones. To do something like that, it has to be really well controlled.

Ah... What can't a malam do?

For now, the boulders will rest. Next step is the fence. I understand my neighbor is chancing me.

Most time with big rocks... they punch holes in the rock and use dynamite to break it.
But with small boulder like yours being dug out, they have tools to just break it into pieces manually.
I just hope they are still in existence... with many people nowadays just trying to get rich quickly without working.

When I was growing up many years ago... there used to be people called "Alakuta" in Yoruba language that can break all those boulders into acceptable pieces and you can use it to fill your German Floor, have thought of that.. not expensive like the "crusher company".
They make holes in the boulder and put dynamite inside and shatter the rocks.

So there is a lot of work happening on my site now. As I mentioned in my previous post geo guys are they doing the survey.

I also have an excavator removing what we thought were a couple boulders, but they have turned into many. Someone made a comment earlier about crushing the boulders and using them on my build. I don't think that is possible for now so I want to know if a mining company can haul them away for free.

Wow! This is becoming a bit overwhelming. Overwhelming only because I'm not on ground to handle things myself. I'm not sure if my people will have the patience to monitor things the way I will want them to.

I may have to delay the borehole and just build the fence on 3 sides so my neighbors don't overstep their boundaries. When I return later this year, I'll deal with the borehole myself.

You can know the drilled depth by monitoring the no of poles drilled into the ground

Stage 2: excavation work
Before we go into excavation, I will like to explain our foundation type for this building. We are going to be using pad footings to carry all the structural columns what strip footings carrying the foundation wall and ground floor walls.

The size of the footings are as follows
Pad type one = 1200mm x 1200mm
Pad type two = 1500 x 1500mm
Pad type three = 1800 x 1200mm
Thickness of pad = 350mm

Pad reinforcement : using Y12 mm bar spaced @200mm center to center

Can you explain why you chose this type of foundation?
