@yawatide, Please, pardon me for being off-topic. I will like to make a request for your e-book on CSS that you gave out sometimes. My hard disk crashed and I lost the copy. Please, my email is yankeegee@yahoo.com. Once again, sorry for the distraction |
Gani Fawehinmi, SAM (Senior Advocate Of The Masses) will continue to live on in the heart and spirit of the masses that he actively represented while he was alive. Baba, you have re-defined the face of activism against a draconian, oppressive Government. Thank you ! |
It's true o. Devastating news. I just read it on www.thepmnews.com too ![]() |
Time for real intellectual discourse on this issue. Who else is tired and sick of these badly-coloured Nigeria map on Nairaland?. Put your hands up pls, im outta here b4 someone spills his fury on me ![]() |
Pls guys, dont be over-joyous. Little variables play major roles in football , which in this case include : - Man-u have got long trips to make in the midst of hectic premier, FA and carling cup competitions to Russia and Turkey. - Moreso, all the teams Man-u will be playing qualified automatically without play-offs. - Besides, Man-u have NEVER played any of these teams before. If you are talking abt the easiest draw ever, you have to think of arsenal ![]() |
Oh just read about wolfsburg. Reigning champion of bundesliga. Hummnn, United have got trickish ties. Long trip to turkey and Russian, plus the fact that all the teams qualified automatically, without play-off make it more dodgy. I can only have my fingers crossed. I envy arsenal tho |
I'm a manchester United fan. Could someone please tell me whats so special about Wolfsburg. They seem like a dark horse to me. ![]() Nairalanders are already making wolfsburg so scary ![]() |
Humn, Alhaji Arisekola Alao Again !. He was part of the people that "killed" the defunct National Bank. He is also known to "dine and wine" with our bleached-skin, good-for-nothing governor, Adebayo Alao Akala. Maybe Akala will help him out by dipping his bleached hands into the Oyo state's treasury to save Aare Musulumi (meaning, President of the muslims) of Ibadanland, Alhaji Arisekola Alao, who happens to be one of his hopes for second term in Oyo State. Arisekola's role during Abacha's regime is not forgotten too. Only God saved him at University Of Ibadan from getting lynched. Maybe if he had been lynched then, he wouldnt be able to defraud these banks. Supid people ! |
I can bet that the affected banks will have their banking halls crowded by customers who will be desperate to close their accounts. It's a nightmare being marketers in any of these banks now. No amount of word will stop the customers from withdrawing their hard-earned money. Shares will plummet. Next week is already looking crazy and bleak. Someone wrote about customer's money being insured. Well I can tell you that no matter the amount you have in your account, you will only be paid 50,000 naira max. That's what the insurance can pay out. Union bank and Afribank shock me too- So, old papas could be involved too. Hmm, Intercontinental - Erastus being CIBN president, NSE Vice President and "born again" christian could be involved in what is tagged "Corporate misgovernance". Staffers of these banks should better start dispatching their CVs at alarming rate ![]() |
Nigerians will never cease to amaze me. Some people claimed that Ribadu simply did Obasanjo's bidding. They claimed he hunted Obasanjo's foes instead of Obasanjo and his friends who had looted the treasury. However, they have failed to answer this simple question: "Were those people arrested really committed the alleged fraud or were they framed?" If they actually committed the fraud, then that means he deserves our accolade, if not he deserves a knock. For me, I think he deserves to be praised for contributing his own quota. What would you say about Yarad'ua ? |
@philips0906, Is it that bad . Humnn ![]() |
@ davidf, We are not keeping him permanently - Just for him to complete Akala's term. I know if Gov Fashola spends a day in Oyo State, it's equivalent to Akala's 100 years. Please help |
Give us an idea of the price tag . One thing I am sure about is that it cant be as expensive as the money our governor spend on bleaching powder, Gold necklace, waist chain, leg chain, thugs, campaign bill boards, fictitious contracts, whores etc. We need Gov. Fashola in Oyo state desperately. ![]() |
I visited Oyo State few weeks ago, and what I saw was heart-breaking. Nothing is simply working. The road is not bad but dangerous, even the one that leads to the Governor's office from Total Garden. Gbagi's road is a disaster. The newly constructed road at IMPA in Akobo is in a mess in less than 2 years after construction. Our bleaching Governor is not a role model for the citizen - he has ridiculously long entourage with siren threatening the citizens of Oyo state. No effective policy from him. The list is endless. His campaign Bill board litters the road of the secretariat. Thats why I have to turn to the Lagosians to lend us their effective Governor. What do you think? ![]() |
I am not the one breaking news, it's punch newspaper. I just aired my opinion on the breaking news. Like tomobola says, our politicians are really the main culprits here. It's sad tho |
I am wondering if we could ever get it right in Nigeria. If INEC can not successfully organise an election in just a few Local Government in Ekiti State, without any mayhem, what hope do we have for the next general election in Nigeria? Can we ever get it right in Nigeria ?. Can we ever have credible election in Nigeria?. Can we ever practise an election that will attract people with vision and great concepts?. Must election be a do or die affair if truly they are going there to serve ? ![]() This is really sad and pathetic !! NB: There is already crisis in Ekiti as reported by Punch in their breaking news section as at 25th April,2009 |
I just stumbled on this thread and I was really "tempted" to contribute. I wish some ladies would learn the trade of placing VALUE on themselves. Some are not hungry , they are just beggars. They see it as the responsibilities of a man to foot all their bills. In this modern day, I am sorry it does not work that way. I hope at the same time that the men, will be bold enough to give it to the ladies straight away when they exhibit their art of "beggarism" and "hunger", instead of mumuring after they might have left. Some ladies sha ![]() |
Education and Money are quite incomparable. Education can either directly or indirectly lead to wealth. You can work for an organisation as a professional ane be paid high salary, and you can work as a consultant and still be paid fantastic amount. So, we can say education is the process that leads to money-making. Point of note, education should not be based on money-making alone, it also makes you to be exposed. To be able to know your rights. To be able to have sound & matured analytical mind. To be able to boost your morale & confidence etc All these apply to people that are genuinely educated, and not pple that just "navigate" their ways through the schools. Summarily, Education and Money are good, but money backed up with education is enviable and the best ! |
Explore to see if that course could be offered online and still be doing your contract job. That way, you have killed 2 birds with one stone ! |
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that lawmakers from opposing political parties were also at the reception@ireport, That quoted line in the report is my fear. At the blink of an eye, you will be hearing "decamping" story. Seems the opposition don compromise ![]() |
I feel Oyo state lawmakers deserve to be stoned !. With massive rigging and looting of the treasury going on in the state, they still have the gut to endorse this bleaching governor for the second term. When will Amala politics end in this historical state ![]() source : http://www.ngrguardiannews.com/breaking_news/article01 23 Oyo lawmakers endorse Akala for second term The 23 PDP members of the Oyo State House of Assembly have endorsed Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala for a second term in office. The House Majority Leader, Mr. Samuel Adejumobi, disclosed this at a reception to mark Alao-Akala's recent victory at the Court of Appeal, Ibadan. "What we do know is that God has appointed you to govern the state and we pray that nothing will stop your coming for the second term. We have jointly christened you as `Ilufemiloye' of the state to lead us beyond 2011,'' Adejumobi told the governor. While thanking the lawmakers for their gesture, Alao-Akala assured the people that his administration would continue to touch their lives positively. "I am very grateful to the Assembly members for this reception. It came as a surprise to me. _I am also grateful for endorsing me for a second term in office but it can only be possible when the people in your constituency can testify that we have performed up to expectation,'' he said. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that lawmakers from opposing political parties were also at the reception. |
With the stage set for G20 members to address the global financial meltdown, is there any hope in sight at all. French PM threatens to walk out of the meeting if the meeting dont go as he hopes, brazillian president already said the prsent problem was caused by people with white skin and blue eyes. With all these name callings, threat and Obama taking a centre stage across the atlantic for the first time, is there any hope in sight ?? |
@lexdinoGbam!. You couldnt have said it better. The bible even says if you can do it for one of these, you have done it for me!. It is not that you shouldnt give to the church if you have the wilful feeling to give, but the needy should take a priority before the church. Afterall , bible states that pastors must have a means of living and not solely depend on donation/tithe/offering for his survival. To make matter worse, the number of offering being collected in my church is amazing - welfare offering, church development offering, youth offering, first Sunday of the month offering etc. This is enough to make one go bankrupt. Conclusion, I rather give to the poor/needy first before church, if I have the feeling of giving to the church I will do, if i notice something that needs to be done in the church and I could afford it, I will pay for it without anyone knowing it's me that do it. QED ![]() |
I wonder of we still have hope in Nigeria. The analysis of some people here are simply warped!. Take a deep breath, close your eyes and think of what effect will a luxurious jet have on the lifes of the suffering masses. You can say Redeem church is not the Federal Govt but they are meant to be Charity Organisation. They need to do their bits. Politicians hide under the immunity clause , our pastors hide under "touch not my anointing". The craze for Universities have gone, now it's the Jet age. Let the truth be told, there is no argument that can justify owning a private jet by redeem xtian church of God. For your information, I attend Redeem Church because I feel comfortable worshipping there, and this wont stop me from still worshipping. We should start seeing our pastors as human and not God - They are liable to make mistakes - This is a grave error in my own opinion !. |
I have taken my time to read all the posts about this thread, but I felt there's a need to air my own view on this. I attend the Redeem Xtian church of God, simply because I feel comfortable worshipping there. However, I dont think buying of Private Jet by Pastor Adeboye is justifiable. In a country where hunger and poverty are so rampant, I do not think anyone could justify using such a whooping sum on a luxurious private jet. Even if he is given as a gift, I expect him to either sell and spread d proceeds among charity organisations. Another thing is , we need to look at the calibre of people that can afford to give out private Jet to our dear pastor. Where does he get his own money?. Church is meant to be a charitable organisation and it is amazing how robbers have chosen to start attacking churches because they know it has been turned to a business ventures. Many people do not read the bible again, they have chosen to replace it with the published books from our various pastors. After service in many churches, you need to see how people will be merchandising right inside the church, and I remember the last time this happened when Jesus was alive, he chased those people away from the temple. One thing we have forgotten is that eating ordinary meat could count as a sin if you are selfishly doing such in the midst of people that have not eaten for like 3 days. The way I am looking at it, owning a university is no more in vogue from the perspcetive of our churches, now it is gradually turning to private jets race. I can assure you that a lot of our church pastors in various denomination will be gunning to own private jets by all means. A new symbol of authority!. Even, let us consider the economic implication. Let us look at how much will be paid for every second that private jet spend on the tarmac, the cost of servicing and the service parts etc. This is not what we need at this time. Flamboyance is a thing of the world and need to be seriously resisted by our men of God. I will still continue to attend Redeem Xtian Church Of God, but I do not agree with Pastor Adeboye buying of a private Jet. |
This is RAPE of the democracy by the judiciary. Akala retained his seat till 2011. We, Ibadan indigenes should prepare for more cases of armed robbery, looting on the grand scale, more economic hardship and zero infrastructure. Now that there is no legal obstacle on the way of the BLEACHING Governor, it will now be free for all looting of the treasury. Akala , the stooge of Adedibu, the WORST governor Oyo state ever had! Shame! Shame!! Shame!!! |
It is no more a secret that Adebayo Alao Akala is the WORST governor ever experienced by Oyo State. What do you expect from someone imposed on the Oyo citizen by the Grand thug Lamidi Adedibu. Oyo citizens are just hoping and praying that justice will be done in the appeal court. ![]() |
@BadriyyahYou are mixing up 2 different stories together. Maybe you need to go back and re-read. The ATM incident was NOT in any way related to Governor's Akala daughter's story, and if you must know some banks allow you to use your ATM to withdraw up to 100,000 naira in day. There is nothing fishy in that story. The Secretary to the State Government, Chief Olayiwola Lakojo, who came to the command also confirmed the operation that the robbers carried out yesterday morning.I thought the SSG would provide more details regarding the $56,000 found in possession of the governor's daughter. He needs to confirm Akala's daughter as part of the "robbery" suspect too. She has robbed the entire state while those captured robbers robbed few houses. Sometimes I wonder what the police are doing. They should not only take glory in either killing or capturing of the robbers, they suppose to arrest Akala's daughter promptly as well, but I doubt this very much as the matter will be swept under the carpet. Nigeria we hail thee ![]() |
@St Funmi, I wonder what manner of "economist" are you. sorry no insult meant. Everything in Nigeria is simply not working. It is a story of lacking in the midst of abundance. Every Nigerian has lost the pride in getting identified with the green-white-green emblem. It is so sad!. Nigerians are tolerant in nature, they can adapt to any situation no matter how harsh. There has been public outrage in the western world, which despite the economic recession, they still have substantial comfort - Their Govts introduce measures that will mitigate the effect of the recession, they collect money every week, have access to free & qualitative medicare etc , even when they do not work or do not wish to work . I am beginning to think if it is a curse being a Nigerian. @St Funmi is talking about taxes. Let me tell you , the word "budget" and "taxes" have no meaning to ordinary Nigerians again. Why will it ?!. The budget have no positive impact on the lifes of the common people on the street , and the taxes are being embezzled by the politicians at the corridors of power. So, please, stop insulting Nigerians and even salute their courage for holding up despite the biting economic recession staring them in the face. In some part of the world, blood would certainly have been freely-flowing as a result of these govt let-downs ![]() |
I am happy for you because you have to make a decision between "two good choices". I will try to make my contribution as concise as possible. I will start by asking you if you feel "happy" as well as "fulfilled" in the telecom sector. These 2 quoted words will ultimately decide where your career paths will swing. If you are fulfilled with it, go ahead and get as many qualifications as possible, you will be ok at the end of the day. However, if you are into telecomms because you could not secure a job with your chemical engineering certificate, and you are still in love with Chemical Engineering, try and switch towards obtaining further qualification in Chemical Engineering. Dont worry that you do not have experience in it, it will get to a point when everything will fall into places. Lastly, there is a big difference in being RICH and being FULFILLED. Go for the one that will make you fulfilled as a person!. I hope you find this useful ![]() |
Despite the fact that I am one of the admirers of Funke Akindele, I think she got JENIFA completely wrong. That is not a comedy. She should forget about the idea of acting or writting comedy. If you doubt me then check out film like "OKU IYA MI part 1 & 2" or "OMO ODE DE by Latin" then compare with JENIFA. Comedy is meant to make you laugh, but it woefully fails to get me tickled. JENIFA has so many loopholes. Had it been we had efficient film critics in Nigeria, JENIFA would be badly torn . Just ma opinion |
