Pls for those of us following the scores on Nairaland, Can someone pls be typing it out as it happens? ![]() |
The poster wrote "moving at about 100km/hr". He was not really sure of the speed but anyone who has ever followed this convoy would definitely know that they could be very annoying. In the cities, they move at a crazy speed, even above 120km/hr, but on federal roads, they do unnecessary big men, causing traffic jam in order for people to be aware of who they are. The Police are another entity entirely. Do they even know the law not to talk of enforcing one ?. Naija we hail thee |
@Lawyer, As detailed as you sound, my fear is fraud is always being associated with urgent deals in Nigeria (especially issue of lands). Please note that I am not accusing you of one, I'm simply voicing out my feeling. I wish you best of luck in sales. |
Insert QuoteThank you George!. These people complaining are not working in CBN, I dont know their problems with logistics!. They just want to nail the guy under any guise, no matter how childish or stupid. I'm sure some people will soon start to blame Sanusi for the disappearance of meat(s) in their soup . That's how low some people can be! |
I believe people that have lost money in the stock price of these bailed-out banks will never blame Sanusi. People are just unnnecessarily tribalistic. Even, if CBN wants to check for transaction over N10, why should people be scared unless you have skeleton in your cupboard ?. Must we moan over every step forward !. Instead for us to support this man campaign against big men who have short-changed the poor, we keep on calling for his head. This is really sad!. |
@ Timmi You couldnt have put it better. Bravo ! ![]() I do not understand why people are taking the "shoot them" out of context. Sanusi was just trying to harp on the gravity of the financial crime committed by these CEOs. Let's concentrate on the real issue (which is the CEO corruption case) rather than engage in unneccessary distraction.afterall obama called someone jackass, and heaven never fall |
It sounds a bit disgusting to see some people trying to put the blame on Sanusi. These people have been accused of grave financial crime and we should leave it for the court to decide. Sanusi sounds so confident because he is privy to some information that is not available to us now that can ultimately lead to the conviction of these guys in court. I guess we should all rise up to support Sanusi that is trying to save people of their hard-earned money, rather than sounding unnecessarily tribalistic. |
Oh Mr Becomerich, long time no ![]() |
Waow!, Seun, where are you ?. This piece must make the homepage for easy access by the consular ![]() Meanwhile, your british paali is hereby granted ! |
I have read so many comments here, and I must say that some people have the same mindset like the bleaching governor. It has aLready been aired in the Nigerian dailies that Akala is the most corrupt governor in Nigeria, thus, I am never surprised with any of his moves. The only achievement he has is to litter the street of Ibadan with his second term campaign billboards. He has committed enough crime for him to be put behind bar for life. He is such a BASTARD !. |
I felt totally deflated watching that video. The issue is not to either confirm if those guys were fake journalists or not, but see the madness being exhibited by our so-called "political idiots". Jungle Justice in a modern era by people who are meant to be administrators! Seun, pls let this thread make the homepage, and let it be there for many to see. We might not be in a position to do anything, but please let the news go round. Those people beating those guys, in a developed nation, suppose to be languishing in jail by now. This is really sad! |
@enjoymentNigerians might present fake documents to get anywhere in the world, but do you have to blame them. Who makes these people so desperate to get out of the country ?. The likes of Ibori who have looted the treasrury so badly have turned 90% of Nigerians abroad to illegal economic migrants. Maybe you have to go back to history, in the 70s, Nigerians rarely travelled abroad despite the fact that there were no visa impediment. Nigerians were like spoilt children. Even, UK government asked them to take on british citizenship which majority of them rejected at that time because they were contented with being Nigerians. We were proud people and a proud Nation, it was such a shame that people like Ibori, alamaiyegha, tafa balogun etc have stripped us of our pride by their crazy way of looting the treasury. |
Hmnn James Hadley Chase !. His novels really enhance my writting skill. I am so indebted to him. His novels are very very addctive. You wont ever let go !. I have read other authors like Sidney Sheldon, Robert Ludlum etc., however, they are great crime writer as well, but James Hadley Chase will always lead the pack as far as I'm concerned. His story plots and english construct are second to none!. ![]() |
Insert QuoteLunatic on the loose !. Definitely a patient must be missng at "Aro" in Ogun State. What happens to freedom of speech?. You aint worth replying to cos you were terribly brought up!. I wish Obama was here to call u bloody Jackass! ![]() |
Nigeria Eagle ko, Nigerian Pepeye ni ! . Count me out of flying with unprofessional airline. |
Akala had threatened to sack all the lecturers at the Polytechnic Ibadan and Immanuel Alayande College of Education if they fail to resume to work today. The lecturers had called his bluff, telling him to do his worse. The bone of contention is over Pay As You Earn Taxation System and the strike has dragged to 9 weeks. Now that the die is cast, what your opinion on this ugly development !. Source : http://www.tribune.com.ng/18092009/news/news6.html The striking lecturers of the Oyo State government-owned tertiary institutions have vowed not to resume work today as directed by the state government. Apparently reacting to the state government’s threat, the striking lecturers, under the auspices of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnic (ASUP), in a statement signed by its chairman, Comrade Babatunde Dosunmu and Secretary, Comrade Damola Adeyemo, respectively, condemned the threat and accused the state government of trying to destroy education sector in the state. They described the decision of the state government to sack them after the expiration of the deadline as an act of victimisation and oppression of the workforce. They stated that they remained resolute, steadfast and committed to their demands and ready to pursue them, using all meaningful mechanism ethical to commonsense and the rule of law. To this end, the lecturers said, ”we are all united in one voice to condemn the threat of sack and other strategies that might be employed to subdue us into Akalakuta Republic,” While directing all members to attend an important congress slated for today at the main campus, the striking lecturers were urged to shun and disregard any invitation to sign any attendance register. It will be recalled that the state government, on Tuesday, issued a three-day ultimatum to the striking lecturers to resume work. The state commissioner for Education, Professor Taoheed Adedoja, had, at a press conference after the state executive council meeting, said that any lecturer who failed to resume today would be regarded as having abscond from his or her duty post. Meanwhile, the state government has warned that it will not hesitate to replace any of the striking workers of the Ibadan Polytechnic and Immanuel Alayande College of Education Oyo, who failed to resume duty today The Commissioner for Education Professor Adedoja gave the warning yesterday in Ibadan, while briefing the press at the end of the State Executive Council meeting. The Commissioner disclosed that the governing councils of the two concerned tertiary institutions have been directed to ensure the resumption of the students and academic work by Wednesday, next week. The commissioner stressed that any of the workers who failed to heed the directive would be regarded as having absconded and will be treated appropriately. Prof. Adedoja said that while Government respects the right of workers under the democratic norms, Government will also has a duty to protect the interest of students and the tertiary education system in the Sate, adding that the strike action had seriously affected education system in the State. In his own contribution, the Executive Assistant to the Governor on Legal Matters Barrister Lekan Latinwo said the over 9 week strike of the lecturers had been having negative and adverse effect on the studies and education of their students as it has prolonged the academic calendar year and had extended the due time the students are expected to graduate. He explained that the issue of Pay As You Earn (PAYE) taxation system being protested by the workers remains a statutory and mandatory civic responsibility of all workers as directed by the Federal Government Source : http://www.tribune.com.ng/18092009/news/news6.html |
Hey, what's your take on this. Though its wrong to celebrate someone's predicament, however, guess it's a sign of good thing to come on Sunday. Up Manchester United ![]() Source : http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_prem/8258287.stm |
Arsenal second goal clearly hit Song's arm to keep the ball in play. Referee and linesman fault tho. However, if it was to be against arsenal, arsene would be whinning and complaining. I hope if a decision goes against arsenal next time, they will happly take it in their strides. Congrats tho |
You guys have been talking abt Adebayor's unprofessionalism, what about Van Persie Rash Challenge on him. Let's our sense of judgement be fair pls |
Becomerich and either Nigeria map or graphical illustration sha ![]() |
@kobojunkieIt does in so many ways. It exposes these governors to people both within Nigeria and abroad. People can make an informed decision on who to vote for in the next election. People abroad are able to have a good grasp of the performances of these governors, and who know, they may be able to influence their folks back home. Besides, we are able to let off the steam inside of us, which ordinarily might be difficult to pass across to these governors. The governors themselves might be told by their aides how they fare among their people. Who says most of these people dont even read Nairaland ?. This thread might even become a political reference point as the campaign race hots up. You can never be too sure. |
@kobojunkieI understand how you feel, I feel the same somehow too, but we cannot leave our political terrains to some of these vagabonds in power. We can never be too sure the impact this thread could have. Let's play our roles and leave the rest. As for my own contribution, I think I agree that Governor Fashola of Lagos State should be given another term, while Governor Alao Akala of Oyo State should be booted out. He simply does not deserve it going by monumental under-development in the state as well as repetitive looting of the state's treasury. |
Now that majority of the governors have jettisioned their state administrations, and rather prefer to channel all the state resources on the second term agenda, I feel we should start discussing which governor merit it and who does not. I see it as a way of contributing our little quota towards the betterment of our nation, as the election is fast approaching. Highly intellectual discourse please!. Let us try as much as possible not to get distracted from the topic by unnecessary argument and bickering. Respect other people's views pls. Over to you !. |
ericko2k2 captured everything perfectly. @poster, follow your heart. |
Beautiful piece by Alloy~Emeka. Well-researched and logical. However, kindly permit me to air my opinion on some of the issues that you raised : He had a problem with Erastus Akingbola when he was an MD and because of that, he started with him and his cronies in order to show superiority at the mercy of poor massesI would honestly appreciate a tenable source to this fact . The banks will fail more if they start retrenching workersThe banks have consumed more than what their stomachs can contain. All those fantastic salaries, perks, and opening of branches in a crazy manner is just to undo one another while they continue to cook up their books. Without cooking of books, they can not meet up with sustaining the number of staffers they have got. Now that the truth stare them in the face, they have not got a choice than to retrench. Let the truth be told (no insult meant to anyone), majority of the bankers are marketers, who are mainly recruited based on beauty rather than brain. So, the fluffs will definitely go while the real professional will remain and more professionals will have access to work in the banks in the future, which will greatly impact positively on the economy. why didn't Sanusi and his minions advise their MD's to resign secretely within a specified period of time in order to avoid panicking the citizens?.If 5 MDs of banks had resigned at the same time, eye brows would still be raised, words would get out, and there would still be panic. Agreed, the panic might not to be to the extent of what we are witnessing now. However, I strongly tend to believe that Sanusi was trying to be as honest as possible with the situation. He was trying to send a strong signal to the other banks, that it's no more business as usual. As a southerner, I do not believe in all these "Northernisation" propaganda. These propaganda was being engineered by the rich to cover their track and spread by the masses. The big question is, are these people guilty of the offence or not?. Thats a question to be answered by a court of law. The banks will fail more if they start retrenching workers because more customers will freak out and withdraw all they have left for fear of losing it to a dying bank. Panic affects stock too and the effect compounds by the minute.I have to go with exotica quote on this - ", you will have to inflict pain to reduce pain". Everything will still subside as people cannot hide their money for fear of robbers for too long under their bed . They will still save them in the bank!.No matter what Sanusi does, Cecilia Ibru, Erastus Akingbola and co are not poor people and will never become poor for the rest of their natural lives. Who will then suffer the effect of Sanusi's actions?.Seriously, they (thE MDs) will suffer more. It is not a question of money, it is about professional credibility in total ruin. Can they walk tall among their associates?. Have you considered the damage done to their international credibility?. What about their social status within and without Nigeria?. It will be an irreparable damage if they are proven guilty in the court of law. The public will come out victorious in this: The public are better enlightened about the main roles of banks and bankers in the society. They are able to understand that most of the rich men around are bunch of irresponsible men and women by taking loans and not servicing them. They would understand that bankers are meant to be modest rather than flamboyant. They are able to be in a position to measure when a bank is becoming insolvent. They are better enlightened and educated. Banks will be forced , in the long runs, to even give loans to the grassroots people who had been forgotten in the past. Banks will ditch the frivolities of the past and face core banking which they are meant to do. Even the bank staffers will be more professional on their jobs by apprecaiting the customers as kings and thus giving out better service. As to the impact on stock, fear of banks collapsing, I will say it is short term. In the long run, there will be a rebound, but I feel it is better to put it in check now than to allow the whole economy to crumble. As for me,I go with Sanusi all the way ! |
@patrick obiahon Hilarious quote from a comical being |
Do not be deceived, with this degree of show of shame exhibitted by the Super TURKEY, Tunisia will lead the group with about 4 points. From my crystalball, I could see that the TURKEY have no firepower to prosecute the remaining matches. One more to LOSE !. We shall see ! ![]() |
Pls dont be too carried away. Our team needs terrific surgical operation. Mikel Obi does not deserve to be applauded despite his contribution to the goal. ![]() |
Thanks to Mikel, but it doesnt make him a good player. ![]() |
I think it's gradually dawning on me that Nigeria will have no role to play in South Africa. Even if we win this match, can we win the remaining ones with these wingless eag?e ? ![]() We almost even did Arsenal just now , hmnnnn, Diaby ![]() |
I now understand that it's an insult on OKOCHA for MIKEL to wear that No 10 . . |
