dominique:There is poverty and hardship everywhere in the world, however the international news would not report it. Do you realise some people cannot afford 3 square meals a day in the western world? Do you realise that in the US, it is the school meal given to students that make most of them to eat, when they are on vacation, most of them go hungry as their parents cannot afford to feed them? That explains during Covid when the US govt had to arrange for meal to be delivered to the kids at home since they were out of school and most of them would go hungry without school meals. It is a tough environment, and sadly their countries are conditioned to just make you "comfortable" - they do not even expect you to shoulder the responsibilities of your parents or relatives or friends - just be comfortable in your own little way, rack up debts and die when death comes. That is why the whites can afford to watch Arsenal vs Lverpool match that will probably cost 120 GBP. How many blacks do you see in the stadium watching football, they will rather go to the pub, buy one pint of beer and watch. They cant even afford cable TV at home. But we have another definition for wealth as Nigerians as it relates to our culture. We want to show off to the world, we want to build houses (not mortgage), we want to buy amazing cars, we want to live large without debt. If such individuals choose to live in western worlds, there will be clash of cultures and such individuals will look for a way to force his idea of "wealth" to come to fruition - they will most probably go into crime as the last resorts eventually. Mostly (not at all times), that is what causes cases like this. |
Itulah:This is a pointer to the fact that things are not easy anywhere in the world. That UK you are dreaming of travelling to is where some people chose the way of fraud to make money. This is not peculiar to UK alone, it is all over the world. If life has been easy to them, most probably they wont go this route. I am not making any case for them, just showing that it is not easy anywhere. Before you lose 14,000 GBP for CoS (Equivalent of 28 Million Naira) today, to get to UK where you will be slaving to make an average of 2000GBP per month (with almost 1300 to 1500- GBP gone with bills each month, WITHOUT feeding and clothing and other miscellaneous expenses), think twice and have your plans mapped out. The grass is not always greener at the other side. Those of you that think that when you get to western world, you are wealthy by default, let this story be your guide. I am not saying people should not travel but please lower your expectation to avoid cases like this. |
AmazingGenius:Only God knows the silent majority who had been defrauded all in the name of CoS. See the way the lawyer spun the story that he specialises in General Travel Consultancy. He was simply a travel agent and was frauded in the process. Losing over 28 million naira (14kGBP) all in the name of wiping old wrinkled bum bum in a foreign land. If that was not madness , what can we call that? And some people still have the effrontery to defend this by saying Nigeria should be blamed for it. Shame |
Villa12:I am here. Be educated. Senate is made up of individuals from various political parties. This is not about APC as you would love to twist the narratives. Even your darling Labour Party Senators were involved. Listen, I am not a card carrying member of any political party but I reasonably praise FG when it is due and give them a knock when they deserve it. It is only a cynic who does not see anything positive about individuals or political parties. |
Gradually and slowly, we will get there. It hurts me that Nigerians will go to the western world and be telling people back home about stable electricity, excellent infrastructure etc I feel if we get our acts together, Nigeria has human and material resources to overtake some western nations. I am optimistic. Nigeria will be great! |
sukkot:Quit whatever you are smoking |
azpekuliar:Stop arguing with the folks here. Many people won't agree with your ranking based on sentiments. When Usyk beat Joshua in the 2nd fight, Joshua was screaming - "You have got better skill than me. I am more powerful but you still beat me.". Then he threw the belts outside the ring in frustration. People don't know skillful boxer. Fury and Usyk are very skilful and difficult to hit. Joshua lacks that. |
uniquetechng:Oh ok. That explains why he beats Usyk twice. You are right |
Whose money? His or our Commonwealth? I can bet it's the latter. |
havenz:Anthony will struggle with either fury or usyk. They understand the craft and box with absolute finesse which AJ cannot match. |
UK is constantly making huge money off Nigeria in the name of an "annual" event. Africans are still in servitude to their slave master. Unfortunately, most of them don't attend the workshop, rather they go out to shop and greet friends. What has been the impact of the workshop since they have been attending each year? This should be condemned and I expect the president to make a pronouncement banning all jamboree workshops. |
Yugoslavia247:Sadly the babes born in the UK will hardly marry immigrants. Your worldviews are vastly different. You are stuck with these lowlifes ![]() What is Rachel's worth? How much does she earn in a month? Never marry an "entitled" lady |
sirray001:See the uneducated response of someone that was forming "refined" and "balling" in the UK ![]() Enjoy your livelihood with the rats ![]() |
RodgersAkpafu:If it is about statistics, how many percentage of people are "balling" in the UK? A country where the majority of her citizens live from pay cheque to pay cheque, and in serious debt which they cant settle in their lifetime.. |
tyup:Thanks for telling the numbskull the truth. I guess he built a network of mediocres while he was in Nigeria - he traveled , yet living below the poverty threshold., |
sirray001:Your distorted brain did not tell you some individuals got citizenship by birth while your likes had to wipe wrinkled bum bum for many years to get one. Nigeria is also my country and I will wear it like a badge. Keep living like a beggar in a country that can even strip you off whatever is intoxicating you. You are asking me which countries I have traveled to; A question coming from someone that saw inside of a plane at his adult life .Don't get carried away - any little comfort, you start talking trash to Nigeria. The country is surely cursing you back. Keep living a miserable life in a white man's land. |
sirray001:What is the joy of a country that provides all at cut-throat costs which eventually makes life of her citizen miserable? Every country with its own challenge. You are not talking to a JJC here - that passport you are running after, I have 2 of them in countries you will want to die for. Nigerians can travel to anywhere for months without the fear of any mounting bills. Can you travel to any country for 2 months? The fear of mounting bills awaiting you at home can never allow you. I have seen it all. I have seen the futility in what you consider as a big deal. Take a stock of your life in the next ten years, then you will know it is just a mirage. |
The Owl and the man have a striking facial semblance. |
Blue3k:Oh ok. Thanks |
Blue3k:Do you mind to clarify further please? |
Wont this policy fuel more military intervention in West Africa democracy? |
Please I am at a stage where intend to roof my house. I do not want to put too much load on my building, so I have knocked out that parapet with cement and iron. However, someone suggested polystrene parapet and I am not sure if it lasts longer or a good alternative to that cement parapet. I will like to know the cost too Any advice is welcome as well. Thanks |
Kukutenla:Just a directive from the presidency will put a stop to it. |
See how they are wasting our money. Cant they hold the workshop in Nigeria? Same way CBN staffs that got promoted held a workshop in Vietnam last year. Vietnam!! out of all the countries. Is it not cheaper to bring the facilitators into Nigeria ? And shockingly they are not serious with the workshop. Most of them dont even attend the workshop but busy shopping in London. All these waste need to stop! |
Realtruth2023:The NGN 1600 I quoted was a guess. It could be NGN 1000, NGN 1200 etc The fact is that NGN 750 which you referred to was not the true worth of naira to a dollar as at then. The Nigeria Govt was defending it at that time. |
sweetkev:You got it wrong When you felt Naira value to a dollar was 750, it was actually 1600. The government was paying the differential (defending the naira) then for every dollar being sold. |
sirray001:Not everyone is desperate about travelling. Not everyone will abandon, for instance, a software engineering job in banks in Nigeria, to be wiping wrinkled, old butt in the UK, all in the name of travelling abroad. Most corporate guys on top of their game in Nigeria travel abroad on vacation while balling big in Nigeria. I suppose your network in Nigeria does not include those individuals, so you are unaware of them. |
bjdon:My brother, they will never understand the bolded. Same reason why some people sold all their properties, thinking being wealthy is automatic once you land in a white man's land Today they are miserable and depressed. Let them come over to experience it firsthand. |
sirray001:Yes, for you and heaven for some. |
sirray001:The world has reached a stage where the quality of your skillset will determine your quality of life. So, the number you asked for is as good as many who are determined to upskill genuinely. How many people in the UK are living beyond the poverty threshold. Just few in the corporate world. Most Nigerians are living below the poverty threshold in the UK, hence the reason they cannot even afford to go on holiday, sigh seeing, eat out in a decent restaurant, shop in the high street etc. Their daily routine is home to work to church or mosque , then back home. Most Nigerians living in the UK are poor by UK standard. Yes no stable electricity in Nigeria which is bad but in the UK where electricity is stable, you guys end up complaining of higher bills. I have seen many houses in the UK that are off the national grid and fully dependent on solar. I have seen individuals who sleep in darkness in the UK because he could not pay for electricity bills. As bad as Nigeria appears to be, there are some people abroad who will beg to trade places with some individuals in Nigeria. Apple and Mango are fruits but starkly different. |
sirray001:Some dudes are balling comfortably in Nigeria working in banks as Software Engineer, Oil and Gas Staffers, CBN staff etc. Some will never live anywhere abroad because they are working remotely for companies from Nigeria - which i call the "perfect" world. The power of Heaven and paradise is in every nation of the world. it depends on the one you connect to. |
Benwallt:That pounds sterling is mostly earned in sweat and blood. If you calculate the efforts it takes to earn one pound sterling, you will be shocked. |
