sirray001:The world has reached a stage where the quality of your skillset will determine your quality of life. So, the number you asked for is as good as many who are determined to upskill genuinely. How many people in the UK are living beyond the poverty threshold. Just few in the corporate world. Most Nigerians are living below the poverty threshold in the UK, hence the reason they cannot even afford to go on holiday, sigh seeing, eat out in a decent restaurant, shop in the high street etc. Their daily routine is home to work to church or mosque , then back home. Most Nigerians living in the UK are poor by UK standard. Yes no stable electricity in Nigeria which is bad but in the UK where electricity is stable, you guys end up complaining of higher bills. I have seen many houses in the UK that are off the national grid and fully dependent on solar. I have seen individuals who sleep in darkness in the UK because he could not pay for electricity bills. As bad as Nigeria appears to be, there are some people abroad who will beg to trade places with some individuals in Nigeria. Apple and Mango are fruits but starkly different. |
sirray001:Some dudes are balling comfortably in Nigeria working in banks as Software Engineer, Oil and Gas Staffers, CBN staff etc. Some will never live anywhere abroad because they are working remotely for companies from Nigeria - which i call the "perfect" world. The power of Heaven and paradise is in every nation of the world. it depends on the one you connect to. |
Benwallt:That pounds sterling is mostly earned in sweat and blood. If you calculate the efforts it takes to earn one pound sterling, you will be shocked. |
Mcslize:Despite everything, I don't think your narrative is correct. You can't write off a member of the G7 club. If you are well skilled in IT, Medicine and Engineering, you will ball comfortably. I was not referring to the certificate earned while you graduated from the Universities. I was referring to understanding your craft as a thoroughbred professional. |
Gbogbowa:How does cutting interest rate helps the citizen? The govt is simply discouraging people from saving money in their bank accounts, and encouraging them to spend it or put it in business in order to stimulate the recessed economy |
EdiskyHarry:Never say this. If you are without job for 2 months in the UK, you will be out in the cold. The rate at which your money will be depleted when you dont have a job is alarming. Something must always pursue you in the UK - bills etc - this explains why people easily slip into depression. You wont understand till you experience it firsthand. In Nigeria, you can still squat with friends and families, the likelihood of that in the UK is remote. Nigeria is more communal than UK. |
miniziter:I dont speculate. I deal with core evidentiary piece. |
Borrow222:The bolded is a blanket statement, and it was wrong. UK is a developed nation while Nigeria is classified as a developing nation. No basis for comparison. Having stated that, Nigeria is better in some ways than UK. Every country has its own challenges. |
DeltaBachelor:Those that your kind helped to "run" IELTS to UK and US are in serious problem now. They have been discovered and possibly facing criminal prosecution and deportation. |
miniziter:Do you think its easy to win a case in court. If EFCC closes it's eyes and allow ibeto to run away with the proceed of corruption, you will still be crying all over the places. What exactly do you want? |
247man:On paper, people can change jobs after ILR, in reality it is tough. How can someone working 12-hour shift be able to prepare for another career. Someone that has immersed himself in care job for 5 years, its not as easy as you think . Moreso, getting ILR is not automatic having spent 5 years in the UK. Some people have applied for a visitors visa with different information from what they use to get COS. Uk didn't do due diligence then but trust me, when it comes to ILR, they will seriously vet the application. |
247man:Once you are stuck for 5 years on a job, it has become your career. You wont have time to pursue any other things. Care work is intense, draining and frustrating with 12-hour shift. Changing career will be almost mission impossible after 5 years |
247man:No. It doesn't affect people that are already in the system. Those that are already in the system can still bring in their dependants. |
OlujobaSamuel:At the bolded, how can they save when the salaries are majorly low and bills high, saving is nearly impossible. If you calculate the effort to make one pound sterling. you will understand it is blood and sweat. And sadly the price of those properties in Nigeria has gone up and not within reach. |
They should explain "how" they are tackling it. The Governors are the real evil but Nigerians do not question them. The citizens choose to question presidency at all time. |
FreeStuffsNG:This is a very good development. Nigerians are greedy lot. You can't eat your cake and have it. And these same people will be blaming Tinubu. |
spartachico:The bolded is a big lie. Come and see medical doctors driving uber abroad. Come and see doctorate holders doing security guards for stores. The only way to live a comfortable life is being well skilled in a much sought-after career. I remember a friend that studied computer science (Bsc in Nigeria) and Software Engineering (Msc, UK). Like almost 90% of Nigerians abroad school (trust me I was not exageratting), they usually pay someone to do their school assignment for them while they go out to work and work in order to make money to pay bills and tuition fee. After graduation, he applied for a Software Developer job. He was invited for an interview. He was made to solve a problem on a computer. They even told him he could google and he was not limited by time. The guy looked at the problem, he had no clue, he used the other exit to go out. I bet those guys would think he raptured by the time they got back to where he was and he wasnt no more there. They do not care about your certificates but what you can offer. So you need to be a thoroughbred professional to really ball comfortably over there. |
GloriousGbola:Thanks. However, I do not know what to look out for. Do you have any advice in this regard? |
GloriousGbola:How do we know original from fake as I am at a stage I want to do that triangular roofing. Please educate me further |
PotatoSalad:I can create another flat surface to hold those panel if need be.. That triangular roof for me anyday. Such a beauty! |
money121:That triangle roofing anyday anytime. The aesthetic is top notch. That white stuff underneath that goes round the entire circumference adds to the aesthetic as well. I don't know the name that white layer is called. Someone once called it paraphet. I am not sure. Please which one is "gable" out of the two. Just wanna learn. |
jmoore:Even European countries are reliant on Ukrainian wheats. Africans are reliant on Ukrainian wheat as Ukraine supplies larger fractions of the world. So what are you guys talking about here? |
Sometimes, I do not know the end game of the western world and western institutions on this LGBTQ rights. Poor countries are still suffering from coercion. The western worlds are imposing their wills on poor nations which are many in Africa continent in form of withdrawal of grants. If only our continent has serious leaders, the western world will treat them with utmost respect but hell no. |
Caspry5:Stop arguing blindly.
|
Caspry5:Tell me what USA use to back dollars, what backs Euro or what UK use to back pounds sterling. You guys just write without research. Most currencies are backed with nothing and it is called a "fiat currency" |
firearcher:What problems have you been able to solve since your existence?. Cynic, you are ! He has attempted to solve one problem, why dont you attempt to solve one of those you listed. You can't because you lack that capacity and still you have the gut to critique his intellectual work. |
HeatSeeker:I applaud this dude's efforts. He saw a gap in our society and attempted to bridge it using his skillset. This is what education is all about. If you are trained as a Mechanical Engineer, for instance, and you cannot use the skills you use 5 years to acquire to solve human problems, but you are comfortable selling shoes and bags or doing makeup after NYSC, something is obviously wrong with you. You could have used the same tuition fees you needlessly spent to be trained as an engineer to get a shop and be selling your wares. Nigeria has a myriads of problems, research into one that aligns with your discipline and attempt to proffer solution. Stop blaming the Government for your woes. We should be looking at our Universities for solution to solve human problems, not just churning out low quality graduates. |
Botragelad:and no credible news outlet carried the news, even al jazeera, as at now? |
emkz:Let me tell you why they do that. Most of them have been in those countries with nothing to show for it. So, they preyed on desperate Nigerians to make quick money, which they can never dream of earning in their lifetime. So here is the deal. For those always saying travelling out has "guaranteed" success, you can all see that some people that have gone before you had to resolve to fraud to even make it. Get it right, some will definitely make it while some will regret ever travelling abroad. Success is never guaranteed anywhere. |
Islie:Nigeria lacks a robust internal process mechanism. Why is Emefiele just moving out of the apartment? Is there no agency responsible to ensure any government official vacates their official residence at the expiration of their tenure, and also to ensure no official assets are moved out of the official quarters? No heads will roll. No lessons will be learnt. Mediocrities will continue as usual, and we all expect a great Nation like western nations which have functional internal processes for all action and even inactions! |
onyxo76:But do you really realise some people who migrated simply transitioned from frying pan to fire? Not saying there are not others who have good stories to tell, but be careful of making blanket statement which means that leaving Nigeria is an "escape". No. Infact you will be shocked of the number of Nigerians regretting their actions for leaving the country with such huge attendant cost, but I call them the silent majority as they keep their misery to themselves, nursing their pains. To every mallam, his own kettle. |
femi4:You can say this again and again And it annoys me when Africans equate fluency in English to having sound intelligence or showing more respect to whites for being able to speak English language - their own NATIVE language!!. Africans forget that it is their native language and that we are simply learning it. Either they go to school or not, they will speak it just the same way our children will speak Hausa, Ibo or Yoruba either they go to school or not. Ironically, most of the whites cannot even write down their very own language. We have exaggerated their language so much, and undermine ours greatly and the whites know it. |
