tnerro1: Go and read the story of pol pot, a man with nice ideas, he wanted his country to be great and he decided he would use any and all means to make it great. He ended up killing millions of his own countrymen in his quest to achieve this greatness of his country. ( Even the greatness he sought is still up for debate in this present day)
Tinubu has nice ideas but is he ready to kill millions of Nigerians to achieve those goals. Only time will tell. Tinubu does not determine market price for fuel. He is even paying subsidy through the backdoor to ensure that you dont pay the real cost. You can blame him for anything, but are you saying he should have allowed you to pay the real cost of petrol because I do not even understand your argument anymore. |

tete7000: There is no where in the world where people don't cheat, penalties, sometimes heavy ones ensure people align. Fines for those who cheat are good avenues for those in authorities to make money. If your argument that people bypass meter is true, why weren't people fined and get them to comply? By the way, more of Nigerians don't have met3rs contrary to your claim and through estimated bill, they pay more for using little energy. You claim Nigeria has power but NERC regulating electricity in Nigeria says a mere approximately 4000MW is currently what is at best available to 200m Nigeria, you seem to know more than those in charge of the electricity In Nigeria. There is high likelihood that even you that you are typing by-passed your meters. Nigeria always wishing for comfort but not ready to pay for it. Nigerians who are meant to enforce are part of the citizens, and what do they do? They take bribes and look the other side while the Discos run at a loss. It is so easy to point a finger, what do you do when you are alone too? Have you not cheated the system that you wish look like that in Germany in your own way? Dogs eat dogs environment |

tete7000: When you factor subsidized social infrastructure those other countries enjoy, then fuel is not expensive to them, they can live without much of it. Stop comparing a country with no social support system with those who have When analysing fuel price. If mass transit system exists, if power is available, if water run in people's homes they won't complain much. Your leaders steal all moneys they ought to use to make social amenities available to people leaving them without support and turn around to remove subsidy and you are here sheepishly and ignorantly echoing their senseless argument. The bolded is a lie. I was in Nigeria sometimes and the electricity was relatively stable. I heard people complaining that the amount charged on their meters was finishing quickly. What did they do? They started bypassing the meters. Most of you cant pay for the so-called "enjoyment" you covet in the western world. Na so so complaints. If not, go ask your peeps abroad how they are complaining about bills taking large chunks of their salaries. You even talk of "social support", do you know how much UK government collects from each citizen monthly as National Insurance. If Nigeria government starts to implement that, you will all cry to high heaven or you think it is the UK or Canada Government that is making provision for the social support system? |

Is not about writing a long episode to explain ur views So why were you asking for a minimum wage of 100k? Where do you expect your country to find it? |

tnerro1: You forgot to tell us the standard of living ,minimum wage and purchasing power of the citizens in this “ other western countries “ You guys are always quick to jump into standard of living in the western world, yet you are not ready to pay what they are paying. Do you know the number of bills they pay? How many do you pay? How many of you pay taxes at all. Lot of Nigerians have never paid any form of tax in their lifetime? If the Government starts to charge you for owning TV, wont you scream to high heaven. The people groan in the western nations too. It is not the paradise you think it is. If not that our past leaders have really destroyed this country and lack foresight, Nigeria should be competing favourably in the world. However, Nigerians want to live in a country that looks like Dubai without doing their bits. |

Cost of fuel is a global thing.
Fuel is expensive all over the world.
Even if you do comparative analysis, petrol is cheaper in Nigeria as it is now, compared to other western countries |

INTEGRITYA1: When exchange rate was N800 to 1US Dollar.
To get a property of N10million you need $12,500.
With current N1500 to 1US Dollar.
You now need less than $7,000 to achieve the same property value of N10million.
What an amazing opportunity to Nigerians In Diaspora to key into safe and secure Investments back in Nigeria. Buy land and house with good title documents in a safe and secure Estate. Your illustration is faulty. That hypothetical property won't cost 10million naira, it would have been adjusted upward to reflect the reality on ground. So you might need more than 12,500USD to get the same property. |

nairalanda1: If one has been following this thing for as long as I have, you would see that we are paying a subsidy.
1.APC apologists cry that fuel is not being subsidised...well it is. Landing cost was N720 as at October, now it is N1000..meaning subsidy costs rose from N20-140 to N300-420 per liter today. We are pushing ourselves into more debt so see where we are
2.IN 2012 january, landing cost was N99 per liter, now it is N1000. Fuel price was N97 per liter now it is N580-720.
Assuming Nigeria kept fuel at N97 per liter as some PDP apologists wanted , by now subsidy would have risen from N2 per liter to N920 per liter ...and note that fuel consumption has risen over the years.
We would have a debt that would make our current debt look like the pocket money you give your 10 year old.
See how much subsidy costs? But all of you, be it PDP or APC or LP, many of you want it.
Oya, come and get your fuel at N97....lol. You make a lot of sense. Oil price is determined by international benchmark. If Nigeria is still selling oil by N97 , where are we going to get the money to pay the subsidy? That is where pump prices are being adjusted according to the benchmark all over the world. |

Tell me its not in my favor I don't see anything funny in what you sent. You are still focus on the figure, instead on the value.Value is stored in money. The 200USD you are sending to your parent, that now translates to 300k cannot get the same items that your parents were buying using the previous 300k (400 USD) to get. You ought to be sending 500 USD to your parents now if you want them to afford exactly what they have been getting with your 400USD (300K naira).I hope you can relate to the economics behind my explanation. |

dettolgel: I think for most Nigerians abroad that fall in that category there happiness is mostly from the fact that with just 10 dollars they can settle one or two billings. With 100 dollars they can take care of at least 5 people billing them. Unlike when 100 dollars will hardly go round. Yes the money may not go a long way to the biller but at least it is on record that the billee gave 5 billers 20k each.
When it boils done to their own project and family responsible everyone is crying. Because if you used to drop 100k for your parents now you have to triple it. abhosts: Who exactly is benefiting from an ever falling Naira? What kind of cruelty is this? In 2019, a friend of mine based in the US invested $200,000(N72,000,000 at that time) into Nigerian real estate. Now his investment is valued at about N200,000,000($135,000). Despite the fact that his naira investment tripled in value, it was still not worth it from a dollar perspective. He is now regretting his decision because he would have been better off just leaving his $200k in the bank when you consider it is now worth 32 percent less. This is an example of foreign investor they claim to be courting.
Thank you. An average Nigeria looks at the figure of money rather than the value of money. I have heard some people abroad getting happy that naira is falling . I guess they will sell cement to them at the rate of 3500 naira. Even that money in your bank account is losing value. |

Sports › Key Takeaways From The Afcon Final by MT(op): 8:45am On Feb 12, 2024 |
From the disaster of a match that was witnessed yesterday, I feel: 1. The Nigeria coach should be axed. His tactics to throughout the tournament has been appalling. He was too defensive and could not react as at when due with intelligent substitutions. How can Super Eagle played 90mins defending? That was unacceptable. Ivory coast has shown that you can win a cup with indigenous coaches. Time to inject local coaches into our system. 2. We need more local players in the Super Eagle who can die for the badge. The loyalty of most of these foreign players is questionable as they dual citizens. Most of them.are playing for Nigeria because they do not make the cut in their other national team. 3. Chukwueze, Aina, iwobi, Zaidu should just go and retire. They were the stand out failures among our mediocre horrible players. Man know man has destroyed the quality in the super eagles who is traditionally known to operate from the wings 4. I don't see Nigeria qualifying for the world cup with this same set of players and coach. Our next game is against South Africa in their home. I don't See Nigeria beating them. We should just look past the forthcoming world cup. It could have been interesting if we had played well and lost. Nigerians would have cheered thrm.on in loss like they did for the falcons, who left everything on the pitch. No Nigerian can complain about our loss yesterday as it was deserving and a total summary of our mediocre performance all through the tournament. 5.Amokachi should explain why he was overly excited immediately the Ivory Coast players scored. He was all over the place, saying rubbish. Like someone mentioned, we need to check his Naira bet slip You can add your own or dispute any point listed |
