God bless you. I once read what a Catholic Palestinian priest on a visit to Nigeria some years ago said about the isreali- Palestinian conflict. He said Nigerians should not allow anyone deceive them and explained that the issue between Palestinians and Isreal is all about land and not religion. Palestinian population consists of Muslims and Christians and Isrealis don't differentiate between them on the basis of religion. Every Palestinian in subjugated Palestine is feeling the pinch of isreali oppression, humiliation and violence.

I have said it before that a ground offensive into Gaza is going to be very, very bloody with both sides suffering scary casualties. Gaza is a heavily built-up area and the fighting is going to be brutal, savage hand to hand combat with every square metre and building fought over because tanks aren't useful in such combat situation. Isrealis are known to be very sensitive to casualty figures - even now there are protests in isreal against Nathanyahu with people accusing him of bringing war upon isreal. A ground incursion into gaza will result in huge casualties as hamas fighters fight back ferociously because they know that may be their last stand. You are going to see a savage fighting like no other in modern warfare.
What we're seeing today is the danger of holding extremist position instead of pragmatic attitude. Isreali govt is in the hands of fanatical ultra orthodox Jews and in gaza violent, uncompromising hamas holds sway. The two antagonists don't believe in dialogue or live and let's live philosophy.
