Politics › Re: A Detailed Analysis Of The People Of Edo State by MuchAdo: 7:53pm On May 16, 2020 |
Chemist009: It's unfortunate and not too good that many Nigerians, albeit educated are grossly ignorant of Nigeria's ethnic makeup, but come online and spew their ignorance. Many people outside the south south thinks Edo people are either Yoruba or Igbo ..... So, here is a breakdown of the people that make up the entity called Edo State:
Edo South
1 - Oredo Local Government: Oredo local government is the urban area that makes up the Benin city centre. It is one of the 3 local governments that make up the main city and is the heart of the Benin Kingdom. It's the most populated local government in Edo and is home to the Government house, National Museum, Stadium and a host of others.
2 - Egor Local Government: It's the smallest local government in Edo in terms of size, but the third most populated and one of the 3 local governments that make up the main Benin city. It's home to the University of Benin and like Oredo, is owned by the Bini people.
3 - Ikpoba Okha Local Government: It's the second most populated local government in Edo state and is the third of the 3 local governments in the main city.
4 - Orhiomwhon Local Government: Predominantly inhabited by the Bini people, with a sizeable portion inhabited by the Igbanke people. It's the largest local government in Edo state in terms of size.
5 - Ovia North East Local Government: Indigenous to the Bini people, and a cluster of ijaw and Yoruba speaking communities at the border with Ondo state. A portion of the local government is now part of the Benin city suburban.
6 - Ovia South West Local Government: Predominantly Bini, with a cluster of Ijaws.
7- Uhunmwonde Local Government: The last of the 7 local governments of Edo state and is completely indigenous to the Bini people.
Edo North
1 - Akoko Edo local government: It's the largest and most populated local government in Edo North and it's indigent to a cluster of communities who speak different dialects. The two main languages spoken in this local government are Etuno- an Igala like dialect spoken by the Igarra people and Okpameri- an edoid language spoken by several communities in the local government. 1 or 2 communities at the border with Ondo speak Yoruba, hence the misconception that there are indigent indigenous yorubas in Edo.
2 - Etsako West Local Government: One of the 4 local governments that speak the Etsako language... It's home to Auchi, the second largest city in Edo and it's indigent to the Etsako people.
3 - Etsako East Local Government: Inhabited by the Etsako people, it covers the Northern and North Eastern flank of Etsako land.
4 - Etsako Central Local Government: Also indigent to the Etsako people
5 - Owan East Local Government: Dominated by Owan people in Edo state.... While a portion of the local government speak the Etsako language
6 - Owan West Local Government: It's the least populated local government in Edo North and it's indigent to the Owan people.
Edo Central
1- Igueben Local Government: One of the 5 local governments occupied by the Esan people of Edo state.
2 - Esan Central Local Government: Indigent to the Esan people....
3 - Esan West Local Government: Home to the state owned Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma and is indigent to the Esan people.
4 - Esan North East Local Government: Home to the bustling town of Uromi and also indigenous to the Esan people.
5 - Esan South East Local Government: The biggest and most populated of the 5 local governments that constitute Edo Central- Esan land.
Synopsis
Bini, Esan, Etsako, Owan and Akoko Edo people collectively make up 99% of Edo's indigenous population. Igbankes and Ijaws make up the other one percent. This is just a summarised breakdown, a more in-depth breakdown will come later in the series. Break down is as follows: Bini: about 51% Esan: 18% Etsako: 15% Owan: 8% Akoko Edo: 7% Others: 1% @bolded There indeed are indigenous Yorubas from Edo state. They used to have an association, in fact.... |

Osidazz19: Rubbish. I was giving you an example of how G Bush lost in 1992 , you then came back with the convoluted trash, now you trying to change the story. You are more than confused. Go back and read the story from scratch. What has G W Bush got to do with my argument? Nothing. Just accept that you are confused and you don't know jack about what you are talking about. BYE. Just shut up! At least now you have realised your memory weakness. Hitherto, I have been talking about Trump winning a second term at all cost even if it takes rigging. You said no, it can't happen in USA. Then I went ahead to show you when it happened in recent history when George W Bush won a second term by hook and crook. Stupidly, you went about telling me about the senior Bush alongside other inconsequential rants thereby proving that your brain had forgotten there was a junior Bush who later served 2 terms... So how did I change the story Bye, dullarrrrd! |

Osidazz19: I'm more than convinced that you are a kid with no memory or was born after 1992.
In 1992 US general election, the contest was between G Bush (W Bush's Father), Bill Clinton and Ross Perot, a Texas oil Billionaire. I voted in that election and I remember it like yesterday - Clinton won. Before there was W Bush, G Bush was the President from 1988 to 1992. Before then he was the Vice President to Ronald Reagan for 8 years When I try to educate all these young folks on Nairaland, take it that it's coming from experience and knowledge. Just ask, instead of tring to argue topics in which you have no clue.
Your demi god Tramp, is also going to lose just like G H BUSH in 1992. I was referring to George W Bush, the son of George H.W. Bush! His feat - rigging his way into a second term - is far more recent than the history you are telling me!! He defeated John Kerry to win a second term. And the election was far from free and fair. Are you this dull Trump will win with a landslide this time around... |

jpmoriarti: When there's a bus accident, some people get killed. Some others come out alive but some might have broken limbs or cracked skull etc while some will come out unhurt. Everyone dt didn't die, actually survived but with degree of issues.
Same with corona virus patients. It is better not to have a bus accident at all.
There are cases that recovered patients might go on to experience kidney, liver disease.
It is better to not experience the disease at all. It is not more scary for people who have died from it. For people that recovered, it is not total victory for them. Are you deliberately wishing the recovered patients evil or you are postulating some random thoughts that cross your mind as facts Come on! |

Even with rigging machines, Jonathan lost an election. In the US where it is harder to rig, any Presidents can lose election. G Bush lost to Clinton in recent memory. Obviously, you are very naive and can't reason at all. Your dull thinking is very typical. Shhhhh, go back to bed. It's either you are a kid or you have short term memory. George W Bush successfully rigged his way into a second term. |

Politics › Re: Igbo Lawmaker In Lagos Assembly Emerges Igbo Apex Leader by MuchAdo: 1:48pm On May 15, 2020 |
GOOD ADVICE BY MR IDIMOGWU May 15, 20
The only Igbo lawmaker at the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Jude Idimogwu, on Thursday emerged the Lagos Apex Leader of Igbos in the All Progressives Congress (APC). Idimogwu, who is the Chairman House Committee On Wealth Creation, was unanimously endorsed by all the Eze Ndigbos in the state at the state Secretariat in Surulere, Lagos. The lawmaker who is representing Oshodi/Isolo Constituency II while speaking with journalists after the endorsement, explained that the Ohanezes felt Igbos were marginalized by some people who claimed to be leaders of Igbos in the state. Adding that “the Ohanezes have viewed and screened me and they see that I am someone who has the interest of the Igbos in Lagos State at heart. The truth is I have not been happy with the Igbos performance in APC in Lagos State especially during election. “Every success of a party lies in the leadership. I know quite well that the position is for me. Now, I’m ready to take the bull by the horn. Most Igbos tend to vote against our party because the leadership don’t reach them on time. “And my people are very proud people who are self dependent and cannot be lured or bribed. Now is the time to win them over by giving them reason why they should support the party and not wait till election is close before we go to them and win them over”, said Idimogwu The lawmaker stressed that, “now that I’ve emerged as the Ndigbo leader I am particular about sacrifice because that is what leadership is all about. I am ready to sacrifice for my people and I’m here to protect their right. “I also want them to know that nothing goes for nothing. They should obey the laws of the land because we are strangers in the land and we do not argue with the fact. We also have to thank our in-law the Yoruba who are very accommodating. “You can’t be progressing in a State and not support the ruling party. I have their interest in mind, their welfare and concern is what I have to interfere with the government and also they should expect something from the government as well. “This is why you need leaders that are accountable and open minded, who put you first before any other thing. If I leave the State today I will return to the Eastern State that is the more reason why I should make sure they are protected” @bolded is for piggiidddioooootss... |

Xisnin: There is no such thing as enough testing for a population of 200 million people. If there is, please tell us the exact number of enough testing
Confirmed cases have specific meaning. It doesn't mean what you feel is right.
This shows you don't understand statistics and from experience from similar asymmetry, it is impossible to have any intelligible discussion further.
Yes, Nigeria with 157 deaths should be compared with another country with 5000 cases, 30000 tests, similar demographics, country culture and distribution.
Is the above confusing? That is why we have statistical reasoning and tools for practical comparison. Unfortunately, it can't be taught in a day. What is your point My point is that Nigeria is not at risk from Coronavirus like countries abroad are. If it could do worse, it could have since done it. Coronavirus is NOT for Africa! Hallelujah!! Only African countries who have been seriously exposed to the virus currently have less than 1,000 deaths... It is no coincidence!!! Statistics is NOT always correct!!! Enough testing for a country like Nigeria should be at least 10% of the population or 10% of the population of the epicentre. |
Health › Re: Raymond Dokpesi: When Did Malaria Become Synonymous With COVID-19? by MuchAdo: 1:07pm On May 15, 2020 |
Xisnin: I am assuming you are not a conspiracy nutter who is looking for gotchas.
Here are some stats of total deaths/total cases for random countries.
USA 86912/1457593 Percent death: 6%
Nigeria: 157/5,162 Percent death: 3%
China 4,633/82,933 Percent deaths: 5.5%
Japan 697/16120 Percent deaths: 4%
Germany 7,928/174,975 Percent deaths: 4.5%
Russia 2418/262843 Percent deaths: 0.91%
France 27,425/178,870 Percent deaths: 15.3%
Saudi Arabia 283/46,869 Percent deaths: 0.6%
Spain 27321/272646 Percent of deaths: 10%
What spectacular thing did Russia do(0.91% deaths) that France could not(15.3% deaths)?
What spectacular thing did Saudi Arabia do(0.6% deaths) that Spain could not(10% deaths)?
Almost every question about Covid-19 case numbers can be explained by population density, immigration/tourist influx at the beginning of the crisis, and the percentage of old people they have.
People like Dokpesi are a waste of oxygen and resources. He should have been quarantined in his home along with families and not allow to go out until he tests positive or dies. There is no reason why the government should have wasted money to house and treat him.
The only reason people are asking questions they can't understand is because they are losing money not out of concern for the disease.
Coronavirus is not that lethal in any country. Anyone telling you otherwise is lying.
Even if we did nothing done, it won't kill more than 5% of the populace, which is a mere 10 million Nigerians. We will still have 190 million people alive at the end of the day though every other country will ban us from visiting them for the next 3+ years. Come on, we all know that Nigeria has not been doing enough testing. We may well have as many as 1,000,000 confirmed cases at the moment. Forget the useless percentages and focus in the number of deaths. A country losing 80,000 people to a virus in a matter of 3 months is a big deal no matter what percentage of the confirmed cases it is. Nigeria with 157 deaths for the same period should NEVER be mentioned along such countries... |

Xisnin: He is just another fool. Aside from looting the national wealth, most Nigerian politicians are surprisingly dumb. They can't see the next move.
He could have checked Nigerian statistics on active malaria cases and compare them with the meager 5000 Covid-19 cases recorded
If the government had done nothing, doctors would have fled the hospital en masse or refuse to treat patients. People like him with high BP and various health conditions wouldn't survive a month without medical assistance.
Unfortunately, the people that are supposed to be dying are not. What spectacular thing do you think government has done to keep the number of deaths less than 200 If the Coronavirus were that lethal on us at it were on them abroad, don't you think we all would have been dead by now |
