JohnBullMySon: Last comment I'll make on this issue sha.
The way you described citizenship is not the way it works. If you are a citizen of a country by descent, you're a citizen from the moment you are born. Whether you have a passport yet or another nationality. it doesn't matter. Eberechi Eze, Olise, Saka, Musiala are all bonafide Nigerian citizens. Citizenship by descent is a citizenship acquired at birth not by applying for anything. So technically all DRC dual nationality players are DRC citizens to start with. FIFA also recognizes citizenship by descent.
Now in a country like DRC, the executive government which enforces the law, is meant to revoke Congolese citizenship for dual citizens that don't voluntarily drop their foreign citizenship after 21. Now, If the DRC federal government does not revoke it, the citizenship is still valid. it is not an automatic loss.
DRC deliberately doesn't revoke citizenship anymore because they don't want to. A moratorium was passed in 2007 to put revocations permanently on hold pending review of their constitution. Naija must go world cup. Thank you for your attention to this matter. |

“Back then, Football had soul. Beckham bending it from 40 yards, Pirlo slowing time, Scholes seeing passes before they existed. Now it’s press, run, recycle. Athletes everywhere, artists rare. When I curse tiki taka everyday people don't understand how that dreadful philosophy hollowed out football and left us with a pathetic unsatisfying husk. |

BankyGee: So is this reason part of FIFA's ineligibility rule?
Is this not something that has to do with the country and not football? If as a country you say you don't operate dual citizenship and then you use a dual citizenship player, what it means is that you have used a player that is not your citizen. The implication is that every country can then use players who are not their own citizens. |

cc: Cocony, Mujtahida I really don't know the reason for that. Let Japan catch Congo and with their slight frames you'd see how they will outplay them. For me it was not that Congo played gidigbo football which in a certain sense is what is meant by African football, we were just too timid. Our players get snowed by the weight of the occasion. It happened in the last Afcon final. By contrast Super Falcons matched Morocco toe to toe. The psychologist of the team needs to find out why this is happening. Twice is worrisome. |

Amedino99: I have already come to the realization that as a country we are NGMI. The super eagles are not an exception to this. After every failed outing, the nff will always put out a statement saying the next outing will be better. Its never better. Our hopes were raised by beating benin, raised higher by beating gabon and dashed on Sunday. We should have known it was too good to be true based on the way we started the qualifiers. Be that as it may, we have not option than to move forward, Our next match is meant to be against egypt on dec 14 for an AFCON friendly. Lets look forward to the next outing and hope as always the other team is less useless than us and we get to change the thread title to AFCON champions for the first time by next year. We will never make it. In the voice of that coach berating his player 😂😂 |

Procashtips: Your point is that he deliberately didn't pass to Oshimen out of malice, what if he felt the others were in better positions to score than Osimhen? I'm always careful when I make my points. I said IF he was motivated by malice, then it's awful. It is precisely because I want to give him the benefit of the doubt that I used the word 'if". |

Immediately after our match against Gabon, I watched one YouTuber saying that Lookman doesn't have good on-field rapport with Osimhen.
I dismissed it.
But see that pass Lookman cut back and Chukwueze and Ndidi bungled it? That pass ought to have been made for Osimhen. Osimhen was clear. It would have been an easy tap in. Only God knows what made Lookman decide to give a cut back.
If we had scored that goal we would have picked them apart or at best we could have held on to our lead given that for all their attacking onslaught, our defence held the line.
Was Lookman motivated by malicious thoughts? "As in this guy takes all the glory. Let me pass to another person jare".
If that is what motivated him then it's a big let down because we can all see the results of that kind of petty thinking. The team is greater than all of them. USA dream is gone. Osimhen will still get glory. Nobody can stop his shine. |

2022 WCQ against Ghana 2023 AFCON final against CIV 2025 CAF playoff final against DRC
Let’s see what comes of this AFCON but some players will definitely need to be replaced after this cycle. The match against DRC played out exactly the same way the final against CIV happened. In both matches, We scored first but the opposition wasn't fazed. They just shrugged it off and played their game. And equalized. What struck me was how our players became timid and tame. You will see fear and panic in their eyes. It's strange. |

QueenJazz: Words fail to describe how disappointed I was with his performance. Based on looks, I misjudged Tolu as Osimhen-lite. His finish against Russia (even though it started as a gift), and his solo effort before the near miss against SA made me overrate him.
I think the biggest lesson we're learning from this whole episode to be way more conservative while praising the club performances of these players. No matter how good they function out in Europe, when they come home, they act like complete strangers and amateurs.
They remind me of English national team of the late 2000s. There was an insane amount of individual talent in that squad (Lampard, Gerrard, Rooney, Beckham, Terry, Ferdinand, Owen, Crouch, Joe Cole etc) but together, they were a bunch of massive underachievers. Failed to qualify for the 2008 Euros and absolutely shiiit the bed in the 2006 and 2010 World Cups. Once your body structure is like that of Onuachu, Sadiq and Tolu, I will never advocate for you to be in the national team unless you are exceptionally good. Tomorrow now this same Tolu will move to Turkey and start banging goals and guys on this thread will start calling for him to be invited just as they are calling for Onuachu to be invited. |

Karlovych: Exactly, I don't know why some fans are always looking for a scapegoat after every loss, they quickly did a 360 degrees turnaround on Nwabali after the match, now it's Iwobi and Tolu.
In the previous games it was Dessers and Ekong.
Maybe Bameyi and his u20 brothers should be promoted and used for Afcon, smh Bro it's terrible. See some people complaining about Osimhen's availability. Omo, human beings especially Nigerians are fickle and ungrateful. This guy gave it his all. Osasu Obayuwana said Osimhen has unquestionable commitment to the Super Eagles. All it took is just one loss and the man who was a hero has become a villain. Palm Sunday. One week later - crucifixion. |
