In 2003, Tinubu, Bisi Akande and co campaigned vigorously for Obj based only on the fact that he was a Yoruba man against Gen Buhari. Their major campaign slogan was " omo wa ni. yio wole lekan si" meaning he's our son and he will win again. my question is Barcanista why didn't you start this your crusade against the Yorubas? so yorubas can choose their own candidate and the igbos shouldn't?

when people gather just to condemn one section of the country because they believe they are superior the result is always negative. I respect Barcanista for his objective thoughts on this issue ( but I really don't know why he has a deep seated hatred for the igbo people). However, some Yoruba peeps on this thread started casting aspersions on the Igbo people just because a majority of Igbo people support Jonathan. please when making these arguments stick to the issues and stop abusing a whole tribe because of the presidential elections. APC and PDP are one and the same. The Igbos have good reasons to support Jonathan so also do the Yorubas have good reason to support Buhari. Everyone is looking for a way to remain relevant in the scheme of things. People forget that imo state in igbo heartland has an APC governor. so many igbos support APC. These ethnic and tribal politics won't move the country forward.

Back to the topic. I still think PDP will win again because the opposition have not tried to appeal to all Nigerians. They have made it an us versus them fight. in this case he who wields the most power will win. That's my opinion.

People remember in 2003, Tinubu and Bisi Akande campaigned for Obj based only on the fact that Obj was a Yoruba man. a word is enough for the wise.

too much press freedom has led to many abuses in the Nigerian press. That is why i like china, russia, north korea etc

You can castigate Nigeria press but never ever say you like China Russia and N Korea. have you lived in their country before? imagine a country that you can't check Facebook, yahoo or Google. imagine a country where there is a strict rule to who you can call and who can call you. imagine a country where what you say in your room will determine whether you live or die. that's the kind of country you want to live in. please check yourself

All the chest beating and unnecessary boasting is the reason other Nigerians dont like the Igbos. Anambra attacking Imo and vice versa. This is not the Igboland we want. Anambra people like to call Imo ladies prostitutes but the truth of the matter is both states have vices in equal measure. Igbos should be united and there is no need for all these name calling. I really dont know the beef Anambra people have with Imo people.

WIZGUY69: For christ sake, what's all this? what has the people of kano done to boko haram that they are killing them in mass like this? and as for those cowards typing good! don't worry the will soon come to your doorstep and wipe all of you from your enclave (s/east), they have already started it to your brothers in the North, that's the price for leaving your enclave for other man's region.
keep on typing good, that was all what your uncles said in the year 1967.
ask ojukwu, your lord of war.

I don't abuse people on the internet but you are a monumental fool. one second you are castigating people for jubilating over the death of innocent people next thing you are calling for the genocide of another people. is it only south Easterners that want these northerners to keep the bombs up north

I do not support the killing of innocent people irrespective of their tribe or religion. but let me ask you one question . have you ever condemned the massacre of ibos in the north since 1999. it seems northerners can wish ibos dead but igbos can't wish them dead in return. nobody has the monopoly of violence. we should be calming things down and not inciting violence.

All these back and forth bickering will not bring the dead back neither will it solve the current impasse. I don't think the central government ordered the killings. people have a right to protest. these extra judicial killings have been going on for a while in Nigeria and should stop irrespective of tribe or religion..

Anago, so the 3 million Nigerians that died during the civil war is now a topic for jokes?.The British and Russians aided the Genocide of your people and you are happy to make fun of it. would you joke about Jews that died in the Holocaust. have you ever sat down to consider why the west always support Israel over the Arabs?

people should remember that the Sharia and Cartoon riots in Kaduna started as a peaceful protests and developed into full scale killing spree. I think the soldiers should have tried to arrest the arrowheads unless they were attacked first. Nothing justifies the shedding of innocent blood. I am a Nigerian and I will never wish any Nigerian dead irrespective of tribe and religion.

wirinet: How can writing a letter accusing the president be termed treason? Incitement - yes, libel - yes, but treason is stretching the issue too far. In that case every that has made allegations against president Jonathan has committed treason. If so why is OBJ walking free?

Is it only accusations against the president that can be termed treason? what about wild allegations against a sitting governor? is it treason also?

it is treason and sedition. any act against the federal republic or against the goodwill of the federal republic by one of its citizen can be termed treason. I think APC should have distanced themselves from that man the minute he wrote that letter. inciting violence is one thing but spreading hate on a specific ethnic group is beyond reproach.

Politics / Re: Pat Utomi To Run As Delta State Gov In 2015 by munky(m): 8:01pm On Jan 03, 2014
I think we have a long way to go in Nigeria. So just because Utomi is a member of ACN, then he is an efulefu. By the way, is Delta State part of Igboland? at least listen to his plan and policies before castigating him. Nnamdi Azikiwe won elections in the old western region based on his oratory and political skills.

The civil war happened 40 years ago, its time we moved on. I am an igbo man and the truth is that Yorubas and Igbos are very much alike in their aspirations. we all want to live peacefully, make money, enjoy life and be merry. So why all the politics of rancour.

In Anambra state, the town where the state university is located is in perpetual darkness. Igbariam is not even connected to the national grid. students live solely on generators. This can never happen in the south west. And they have a Governor. Dr chris ngige is not a saint, so am not going into whether he should win or not. However, the people should vote for policies and manifesto and not propaganda.

In Abia state, the clown in the government house is a monumental failure. He is enjoying himself because he is in PDP. Rochas is trying his best, the only governor in the southeast to declare free education. Even the great Zik didnt do that. Still, hes been castigated because he joined APC. Ebonyi state is never in the news, the state is one of the worst in Nigeria based on Human Development Index but the governor is not troubled because he is in PDP.

Enugu state governor is a good example of a performing governor that quietly goes about his business.

my point is judge Amechi, Ngige, Rochas, Utomi and the rest based on their policies, dreams, aspirations and achievements.

Even Mandela forgave his white oppressors for the good of South Africa.

Thanks

Truckpusher: GEJ can't fight corruption the everyone of us had expected him to do due to some underlying factors that can't be waved outside .

Fighting Nigeria's corruption will require building strong institutions that has no political affiliation and wields absolute power to carry out investigation without being compromised by an interest group or even the presidency but we are in a situation where 10 out of 9 people are usually handpicked by the political godfathers to occupy sensitive positions in other to protect their own personal interests .

Just imagine a situation like that, how would you go about fighting an institutionalized muti billion dollar industry of corruption in Nigeria?

also remember you have a house that are lapdogs for different interest groups which makes any bill you send to the house to become dead on arrival as long as it doesn't serve their purpose.

please stop trying to brainwash people. GEJ pardoned Alams, he didn't sack Oduah even when it was glaring money was misappropriated. GEJ does not need the house or any institutions to fight corruption. the laws are already there. He just needs to stand up to the fight. he's doing nothing about all the allegations.

Cubeet: is there still real rural area in lagos? With over 25million in population or porthacourt or benin or asaba or ibadan or calabar or akwa ibom?.Sometimes i wonder where dis useless statistics that 100million Nigerians are living below a dollar daily.why is it that am not seeing them.Am in lagos, have been to almost all places in Nigeria,Yes and I agree that there are poor population in Nigeria but its been over exaggerated

I think we should tell ourselves the truth. More than half of Nigerians are well below the poverty line. In Nigeria hotels pay attendants 10,000 Naira a month. salesgirls are paid 7000 Naira. I see truck pushers, pkof pkof sellers, ice cream sellers etc. these people don't earn more than 15000 Naira a month. Forget all these lies thats been peddled around. The reality on ground is so dire. parents are fending for grown men and women. We can argue back and forth about all these, but I know all these are just paper development. I believe if we have stable electricity and security Nigeria will be really great but till then lets be honest with ourselves

catholics engage in total idolatry.

Exodus 20
4 You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. 5 You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me,

catholics have image and statue of mary and the so called saints. I am not here to argue doctrine. This one singular act of direct disobedience negates all what the catholic church preaches.

mary is blessed. however, this level of hero worship is just out of hand

amaechijay: This pro-Amaechi law makers are just jokers, since they moved to Apc their seats have to be declared vacant , they chose this path and should be ready to go down with their master. Secondly, how can they sit outside the hoa without the mace, why did they have to come with touts and back up? Remember the HOA is opposite the police head quarters and you expect the police to sit tight and watch them constitute nuisance? No true rivers man is in support of Amaechi and his toutish government except direct beneficiaries of his foul government e.g my shapeless aunt comm. Semintari. What has Amaechi really done for rivers people? He expanded some roads, built below par health centers, built schools that are not big enough to contain the students? There is no traffic lights or street lights in port Harcourt, has he paid his TIMARIV workers? Expanding roads are not development but building new or alternative roads. The only major road in port Harcourt ie Aba road has no good drainage or street lights, the monorail project and greater port Harcourt project is one big sham. I live on abuloma road in port Harcourt, all he did was re tar the road with asphalt and build pavements. I commend him for the nkpogu road and the new bridge from odili road to woji and beyond but is that all he can account for after spending 6 YEARS in office. He is very arrogant and spiteful that is why he replaced all the lawmakers that were not handpicked by him with morons that cant call him to order. In the hoa, all they do sit and rubber stamp every bill. Amaechi should have been impeached long ago if not for this morons. He was part of Odili's government that brought rivers state to its present state. A renowned cultist. Amaechi's days are numbered..............

what year were u born? in 1999 senator wahab dosunmu decamped from AD to PDP. his seat was not declared vacant. there is precedence so these lawmakers are well within their rights. Governors TA Orji and Ohakim jumped from PPA to PDP. were their seats declared vacant? NO

born2fuck: I no even fit read ham finish, maybe reasonn I got E sometimes but wondering why some people can't just write that the point rather than a novel

do you now see why Nigeria and Africa is the way it is presently. My teacher used to say to hide anything from a black man you just need to put it in writing.

I don't understand how that article is too long. people like you will read 101 pages if it is about sex n crime but anything that will benefit you is too long.

I sincerely weep for Nigeria's future because the youth of today are not really concerned about anything tangible. that is why a politician can wake up and say anything he likes because he knows that majority of Nigerians would not read weekly, monthly, quarterly or annual reports. here lies the problem.

so any southerner that does not support GEJ or PDP is a traitor. Nigerians are truly the cause of our problems. I learnt a lot during the recent anambra gubernatorial election campaign. some people said Ngige actually is the best candidate on parade but they can't vote for him because he joined APC. Igbo land is the least developed part of Nigeria after the South/South region and still we support the same people that have conspired to keep us in perpetual darkness.

God help us.
