lagos is going to clamp down on "gated" streets next. without trying to fix the unsecure security we have.

Boss, i dont think theres anything wrong with leaving things to God to judge. but im also of the school that thinks we shouldnt use that as the first and only resort.
in the case of the examples you gave, OBJ, IBB and their numerous brethren's in swindleTown i think we should make them account for their swindle actions before we "leave it up to God".

That’s what I mean and that’s what I think the author is trying to get at. You’ve never used your religion to convince people as to why our political ways are in shambles but rather you argue by the presentation of facts. That’s exactly what would save Nigeria. Keep the religion personal and pure and open politics should be allowed to run it’s course for the sake of the masses.
BOSS how we go take explain this ur talk to people? me i understand but i can only stick up for myself. i PERSONALLY grin think we cover up our attrocities with the name of God. i can not remember making that statement, but this statement is not far from the truth. don't you think? should i list the names of obasojo's close associates that have been arrested lately?
i could help you refresh ur memory by digging it out but it would take too long a time.

i honestly think that obasojo is partially responsible for some of our problems in nigeria today. don't you think?
and you think yardy's inaction is not fanning and fueling its flame?

kinked, yes because one minute u r on a straight line (i dey always gbadun those ur straight line arguments) next minute you put more than a kink to it and it becomes something else.

i wasnt critiquing him for building twice hospitals. the people of his state dey gbadun am as u had pitched in somewhat. but if the hospital was not good enough to cater for his checkup. then im sorry na consulting room the twice hospitals be. prove me wrong and say he was referred to the hospital in florida by a doctor from his ultra modern consulting room. and i'll eat me words with some hot sauce topping.

maybe because he a can afford to? considering he has been in the civil service as an engineer for 15 years, and the last i heard the constitution has not forbidden that, the most important thing which the focus should be on is if he actually built the hospitals or not,if he did then pls give him kudos and stop bringing up issues that are not important, go and ask the citizens of the state enjoying the hoispitals if they are bothered about him using it or not

where else would the accomplishments be published seeing as we r not residents in yobe?have you conclusive evidence that the hospitals are non existent before your assertions?
Lucabrasi, u be like chemistry textbook. darn HARD  to understand. yes he built the consulting room, but the darn consulting room wasnt good enough for him. he flew to florida for medical checkup, so says his PRO or whatever they call them these days. the hospitals are ultra modern yet he chooses to get a flipping checkup across the big water. what is worth doing at all is worth doing well. if a state would build an hospital and call it ultra modern, with a the funds sunk into it. it better be able to do a flipping checkup.

your thots are simply kinked when it comes to some things.

The nearest embassy?? C'mon, I live in London!!!
And for people that live in other parts of the UK, it's just a train journey away
If they could rush to the High Commission to report stolen passports, the it will most def be easy to go there to vote.
As I said, it's only for those that care bout Nigeria

God knows I won't shift an eyebrow if Nigeria gave George Bush honourary presidency tongue
talking from a UK perspective. sure why not, but a different card game exists in other countries. as big as this country is we have 2 consulates and 1 embassy, all on the east coast. ok maibe LA might have one which i doubt.

so eldee, its not as easy as PB&J sandwich.

What I'm saying is that that emboldened part should be questioned. And since a court is ordering a new system where diasporans should be allowed to vote, INEC needs to look into how long a person's right to vote should remain

And for the problem of how to conduct it??
C'mon, embassies and high commissions will handle that easily. . .
It's just a matter of telling every diasporan to cast their votes at their nearest embassy, we all know how hard it is to rig over here
hehehehehehe, no you didnt just say as a matter of fact the above bolded statement. make i no go down memory lane for u abeg. the day is still young.
PoliticsRe: Court Orders INEC To Allow Nigerians Abroad To Vote by mustafar1: 7:04pm On Jan 28, 2009
DIASPORA  votes would be used more effectively in rigging. ok maibe if one of the registration requirements is for you to provide information sent to u by social security administration that shows you paid tax on the income you make (to verify if you exist). trust me because u r not american doesnt mean u wont pay taxes. so long u made money on their soil. ITS TAX TIME BABY! that should help filter out ghost. but even with that, we know how that can be beaten by our polistealtians.

@Kobojunkie,

'Since Nigerians in Diaspora can vote, then we should be allowed to contest from here. We don't need to be in the country to know what our country's people need.'
I know you're in support of the above statement.

But what is the point of voting for change in Nigeria when you don't know what is there to be changed?
nothing in the rule book says one cant contest from the diaspora. they choose not to because they would need votes, majority of which are in nigeria.

Forgive me for being old-fashioned but I believe only people that go through the exact situation, as in, living in a country and suffering the exact problems associated with life in Nigeria should have the right to decide who they choose as the leaders.

For goodness sake, that's why diasporans(even those without dual citizenship) are allowed to vote in the countries they live in.
Those that have families back home?? Nah, they don't feel it as some living there would!!!
This is the same way some an NIN knows nothing about the ethnic glass ceiling African-Americans talk about.

And those with businesses?? C'mon!!!
Aight then, Richard Branson should be allowed to vote for AD cause his Virgin business has been affected by PDP decisions.

IMO, only people that have been resident in Nigeria within the last two years should be allowed to decide who leads the country. And this is really easy considering the fact the there's a Voter's Register.
to vote in said country you have to be a citizen. a ghanian who has permanent resident status cant vote in nigeria until he becomes a nigerian citizen.

are you referring to the voters register that they compile right before every election. so tunji that breezed into abeokuta on the last day of registration can get on there.

Nigerians abroad who hold citizenship should be allowed to vote.

It won't help in a pre-rigged system though, and it will open further doors for corrupt officials to 'travel abroad' to canvass votes from the Diaspora.  undecided

Transparency of the current electoral system is the prime need right now not this.

I can forsee there being a Fashola rally in London to support him versus Obanikoro rally in Birmingham or something.  grin grin

This is a distraction in my view - without reforming the electoral system, we will simply be creating further avenues for rigging and other electoral malpractices. I can imagine a politician going to say Ghana and getting thousands to vote for him and claim to be Nigerians (after bribing embassy officials or customs agents to issue false passports)
that right there is what prompted my first comment. a situation where a candidate would claim to have got more votes from diaspora than those living in said region. thanks to embassy and customs magic. i see a situation where they'll then throw the, isnt it diasporans that voted him in,  why are they now making noise card. or political opponents would pitch diasporans against non-diasporans, with a mantra that might sound this way, he won the last election because people abroad voted for him, see what he has done. after he is done eating ur money he would go back to the diaspora and spend it with his diaspora friends. whether true or not, whether that individual was the best person to have ever occupied that seat or not, all so he could snatch power.
PoliticsRe: Court Orders INEC To Allow Nigerians Abroad To Vote by mustafar1: 5:41pm On Jan 28, 2009
government suggested diasporans move back home. yes i agree that there are some diasporans who wouldnt know where MMA located not to talk of know if planes actually land there. but in the same diaspora, we have people willing to pack up overnight and go pitch in their 2cents if the conditions are right. but the conditions they see are not encouraging, it would seem swimming in rip tide.

it is known that nothing in life comes easy but even the most simple of tasks are made complicated not by government but by nigerians themselves.
PoliticsRe: Court Orders INEC To Allow Nigerians Abroad To Vote by mustafar1: 5:28pm On Jan 28, 2009
@i_laugh, you didn't answer my question but all well.

the same things you wish for Nigeria is what they wish for Nigeria. they questions Nigerian leaders actions doesn't make dem hate Nigeria. because Nigerians probe everything Nigerian with a scalpel doesn't mean they hate Nigeria. we all see the water in the glass at the halfway line, why you might see it as soon this water would soon get filled up, some might see it as that, it would soon be empty. but i tell you the majority of people who question things dont belong to any of those two groups. they belong to the group that, asks questions in trying to determine what direction the water is heading.
Are you predicting doom? wink
No be me make that comment above o lipsrsealed
BOSS, i am not predicting doom. i wouldnt want such for anyone. even me enemies.

my statement was prompted by the preceeding actions of a certain Inec and its chairman. not long ago, retarded snackwrap (inec chairman) spilled some HIV in the line of, "america should learn to conduct its elections in one day" he went further by saying, "they should also keep a single voters register" and a whole lot more HIV. and i thought real quick, how would this be done, it might be a pre-election day voting kinda thing. would it be by fone, mail, online, txt, email, prometric center, ati be be lo.

then i thot, oh the nigerian embassies in the diapora would pitch in, then i realised, even the embassy doesnt know how many legal nigerians reside in the country under its jurisdcition, common website they cant keep up to date, when you visit said website you get information totally different from what is required of you.

dont get me wrong, the first thot that came to my head wasnt what i posted, the first thot that came to my head was, cool i'll be able to vote for who runs lagos and nigeria's affairs. then the comment i posted dawned on me. who would be incharge of collating these diapora votes? the same snackwrap who spread that intellectual HIV?

[s]by the way if you are wondering what a snackwrap is, its a sandwich at McD's (i hate fast food) and the name snackwrap just sounds like a curse word although its not. lol[/s]

For this to happen in Nigeria, it is a big deal. I mean we hear of such things taken place in other countries but in Nigeria? there is definitely hope and only God knows how soon before we start reading more news of people refusing to pay bribe to the police or at the post office or any government office in the hundreds, and maybe in the thousands. lol . Me I dey watch the trend down there to see if time done reach make person come back come stand up against all these corrupt people we get for government and leadership all over the country. The last thing all man want be say make im reach naija, waka sey im dey go confront one leader or politician, make the people take stab am for back as soon as im turn to face the person im wan confront.

If there is anything I am most afraid of when it comes to Nigeria, it is the people, not the government.
Kobo, i'll email you chunky soup for that single statement. i was in naija last month and anytime i opened my mouth. i hear, "o ro wipe NY ni o wa abi" my response is, wat is good for John Doe is gooder for John Bull.

simple Egun, if i get into my Voltron mode and decide to make something my business. would i get some back up when its obvious its for our own good or would i be thrown under the bus and appoint one of them to back the bus up over me a few times?
