Hip Tv confirms that Cool Fm has recently employed an American to their 'database'. The dude is said to be a pioneer broadcaster of the station when it was set up but left later. https://www.hiphopworldmagazine.com/images/hiptv_trans.gif Now, he joins Dan foster to become the 2nd American on cool fm. |
If you’re a regular radio listener, you may have noticed that Olisa Adibua’s voice no longer comes up in the evenings, on Cool FM’s popular ‘road show’. Olisa, a respected on-air personality and showbiz buff, is allegedly no longer in the station’s employ. And sources say he didn’t resign his appointment. A source at the Lagos-based station told Glitz Beats Olisa, who’s been with the station since inception on October 1, 1998, was sacked by MD Amin Moussalli after his failure to attend a mandatory Saturday meeting on June 28. ‘Olisa worked the night before’, said the source, ‘at Naeto C’s album launch. I guess he was too tired to make the meeting’. Olisa was the anchor of the ‘road show’ - a Monday to Friday evening programme designed to keep listeners’ company as they drive home from work. He also anchors the MTN-sponsored Top 10 Jams. Olisa has also anchored the TV version of MTN Top 10, the Big Brother Nigeria (alongside Michelle Dede); and early this year, he was inducted into the HipHopWorld awards Hall of Fame. Inside sources who spoke on condition of anonimity confirmed the sack, insisting it was regular for the station’s owners to sack workers indiscriminately, and then call them back after the heat has simmered. Olisa was called back, they claimed. But obviously infuriated, he declined. Those close to him say he is not returning to the station; and may be considering suing his former employers. It is uncertain whether talks are on between both parties to resolve the situation. However, in a telephone conversation with Glitz Beats, Olisa denied being fired or resigning from Cool FM. ‘You may not hear my voice on the Road Show but you’ll definitely still hear me on other shows. That’s because I’m on leave. There’s absolutely no problems at all’ [s] He has not resigned. The company is going through a restructuring so there’s bound to be a lot of reorganisation. But the fact that you no longer hear a person’s voice on radio doesn’t mean he has left the station[/s]’. Cool FM is owned by the Moussalli family. In 10 years, they’ve been able to establish the company as one of Nigeria’s top FM stations, and the business has expanded to incorporate Cool Café and Chocolate Royal. But it appears Olisa and Ubosi’s departure has not sunk in with the owners. A check through their website last Wednesday still portrays Olisa as an OAP with the station, while Ubosi is advertised as the Director of Operations. |

The President of the West African Bar Association, Mr. Femi Falana, has condemned the offer by the United Kingdom to assist the Federal Government in waging a military war against the militants in the Niger Delta. The British Prime Minister, Mr. Gordon Brown, had last week said that UK had concluded plans to help the Federal Government in prosecuting the war against the militants. However, Falana in a statement made available to our correspondent on Monday, urged the Federal Government to reject the offer, which he described as irresponsible. He added that the UK offer should be seen as a surreptitious move to set up a British military base in Nigeria, stressing that the UK did not have the interest of Nigeria in mind. He said that Brown should mind his own business by addressing the increasing wave of knife crime and other forms of youth restiveness which have continued to claim scores of innocent lives in the United Kingdom. He added that Nigeria did not need any “Greek gift” from the UK. He stressed that it was very wrong for Brown to be inciting Nigeria to wage war against her own people. Part of the statement reads, “In particular, Mr. Brown should be told that Nigeria does not need his Greek gift as the British Armed Forces have never performed professionally better than Nigerian soldiers in any United Nations Peace Keeping Operations in recent time.” |
