Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Hon. Agboola Ajayi on Tuesday attended the official flag-off of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Ondo Central Senatorial Candidate, Chief Omotayo Alasoadura at Akure Town Hall in Akure, the State Capital. Ajayi charged party members to begin door to door campaign for the re-election of Alasoadura, President Muhammadu Buhari and other candidates of the party. He noted that among those contesting the seat, Alasoadura remains the most credible, who, according to him, will use his re-election to attract more developmental projects to the central senatorial district. The Deputy Governor lashed out at the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) central senatorial Candidate, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, who he said left behind liabilities rather than legacies. Ajayi said the Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, who is also committed to Alasoadura, had been clearing the mess left behind by Mimiko. He said “When we came on board, we met seven months unpaid salaries but I am happy to tell you that we have cleared six months. “Despite the paucity of fund, we have not relent in our efforts in transforming the state. Work is currently ongoing at Oba Osupa road, Gaga, SIB-Alagbaka, Ijoka to Idanre roads among others. “Not only in Akure that is the Governor is working. Work is also ongoing in Owo, Ikare, Ese-Odo, Idanre, Ore and other councils”.

Ondo State governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, has charged community leaders to preach the gospel of immunization in Churches, mosques and the community at large so as to help government in its efforts towards total eradication of polio. Akeredolu said the primary healthcare can only be effective when the trio of government, health workers and community members work hand in hand at all times. The governor commended all those who have been involved in the onerous duty of combating polio virus in the state. He hailed the team led by the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Wahab Adegbenro for sustaining the tempo on Polio eradication in the state. Governor Akeredolu spoke at the State Task Force meeting on Polio eradication and Routine Immunization, held at the Cocoa Conference Hall, governor's office, Alagbaka, Akure on Monday. He said : "As a traditional ruler, how much of the gospel of immunisation do you tell your community members during important community events and other avenues? Are our town criers at village levels still up and doing about community sensitisation? At the level of the 203 wards across the 18 LGAs, are the Ward Development Committee (WDC) members still committed to their communal tasks? "Do churches and mosques still talk about immunisation during and after service to orientate their congregation and dispel immunisation myths? The Governor also charged the media to take part in the sensitization roles of polio as their corporate Social responsibility by airing jingles on immunization on radio and television stations. "Is the media ready to give more free slots, as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility, for our immunisation jingles to air on radio and television stations? The governor also called for a sense of patriotism amongst the health workers and the people so as to prevent any incidence of Polio virus and other vaccine-preventable diseases in the State. He added that the honest attitude of the rebranded primary healthcare workers towards Routine Immunisation services across the 18 LGAs of the State has begun to yield fruits. He said : "As you all know, the benchmark used in assessing our vaccination effort is the 3rd dose of Pentavalent vaccine (Penta-3) and the records have it that State’s real Penta-3 coverage for January-December 2018 is 79%. This is the true picture of our recent records and renewed attitude. " Governor Akeredolu said his administration will continue to improve the working condition of health workers to boost their morale towards delivery of immunization and other services. He said " As a responsible and responsive government that has recently employed hundreds of health workers for the secondary facilities managed by the State Hospitals’ Management Board (HMB) despite lean resources, we shall continue to improve the working condition of our health workers to boost their morale towards delivery of immunisation and other services. " The governor appreciated the development parterners - the World Health Organisation (WHO), UNICEF and the supervising agency of the Federal Government – the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency (NPHCDA), for their supports. Remarkable one from Governor Rotimi Akeredolu. Durability and longevity are good qualities of your works. |
No fewer than hundred notable members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and loyalists of former governor Ayo Fayose, in Igbimo Ekiti and his home town Afao Ekiti at the weekend dumped the party and decamped to the rulling All Progressives Congress (APC). The defectors were led by Fayose’s ardent supporter, Chief Michael Bolawole Ojo and other PDP bigwigs in the local government at a colourful ceremony which took place during a ward meeting of the party held in Igbemo Ekiti. An APC House of Assembly candidate in the constituency, Mr Hakeem Jamiu and other arty stalwarts in the local government while receiving the defectors, urged them to be dedicated to the party’s principles and ideals. Jamiu assured that nobody will discriminate against them and that they should make sacrifices for the party to overcome the challenges ahead of the 2019 elections. The former Senior Special Assistant to Governor Kayode Fayemi on Research and Documentation, stressed that the party would not treat any defector as new member, saying that their contributions towards the upliftment of the party would prove their worth. Jamiu said: “I promise to facilitate people oriented projects that will have direct positive impacts on the socio-economic life of the people if elected. Let me assure you, you are here today as full fledged members, who can enjoy all privileges”. Jamiu described Fayemi as a politician exemplary in thought and uncompromising in action, adding that within 100 days of his stay in office, the people have witnessed new lease of life with his decisive actions aimed at accelerating standard of living of the people. ” I want to assure our farmers that I will facilitate Long term loans and provide incentives for them to expand production of Igbemo rice and other agricultural produce” The Ebira Community in the town had also vowed to work and ensure that the party wins all elections in the 2019 polls so that they can continue witnessing and enjoying more dividends of good governance. The leader of the defectors, Bolawole Ojo, who explained that PDP has become a “deserted party with little or no political substance” , said he joined APC because of the laudable success story and progressive policies of the party. He expressed his readiness to work assiduously for victory of all the party candidates in the coming elections. Ojo pointed out that “APC’s Assembly flag bearer in this constituency for the March election stimulates our decision to dump PDP, because the APC candidate is a grassroots politician with special focus in providing services to humanity. “Only the APC at all levels of governance could actualise our yearnings and aspirations, when it assumes power after this year National and State Assembly elections in the area, that is why we are working hard to support him(Jamiu). A former Senate Minority Leader, Godswill Akpabio, has said President Muhammadu Buhari will win the presidential election, notwithstanding the grandstanding of members of the opposition. Akpabio, who is the Chairman of the Presidential Support Committee of the All Progressives Congress, said he would deliver 10 million votes to the President. The former Akwa Ibom State governor said this on Saturday in Ibadan, Oyo State capital, during the inauguration of the South West and states’ coordinators of the PSC. He said he had volunteered to ensure that Buhari received not less than 10 million votes from the group. He said, “We are at various wards and local governments, moving on daily basis, working for the re-election of President Buhari, Vice President Osinbajo and the APC. “Since campaign has started, God has guaranteed victory for the APC and President Buhari in 2019 general elections. “We are already winning because we are the champions. This is because we have seen a man who wants to bring change. We have seen a man who has brought back respect for the country and its people. “The opposition may say whatever they want, but I believe in transitional leadership, represented by President Buhari.” Source: https://punchng.com/akpabio-promises-to-deliver-10-million-votes-for-buhari/
