I do agree that the story doesn’t add up but we have a long way to go in Nigeria. I work for an Organization in Cape Town South Africa, the priority given to health and safety in all the sectors here is insane. We had a fire drill last Friday, health inspection today as well. All these just to ensure the safety of the staffs and visitors in our premise. Mind you these is done periodically in all organizations in SA. My point is, in Nigeria we don’t care, we don’t value human lives, which begins with safety. I’m tired of seeing such news ...petty situations that can be averted but we just don’t give a hoot |
IMASTEX:You couldn’t have said it better bro. I remember coming back from the UK in 2010 after my MSC. I job hunted for two years before landing a job...an average at that...I went months without being paid in this job...I eventually left Nigeria again for South Africa and today I’m glad I made that decision. Another country recognized my skills and gave me a better life and a befitting Job. Nigerians only celebrates mediocrity as long as it yields money. Well, Nigerians will do what they do best...which is praying! |
jahguide2268:Yes, it does and No, it doesn’t. Literally speaking it does BUT that isn’t the issue here. By here I mean in Nigeria. You see we’ve been conditioned to think everything has to do with being protected by God . Don’t get me wrong we all need God’s protection. I’ll give an example, I’m not based Nigeria but I’m a Nigerian and I recall trying to get my drivers license 2 years ago, bro it wasn’t easy... I went through a thorough and well defined process (Driving lessons to the driving test). As a matter of fact I failed twice, mind you I had a Nigerian driver license that I got without any hassle. Now let’s talk about our roads, it’s usage, maintenance and regulations. Bro our roads are death traps ..I mean we literally pray when embarking on any journey. Non of that happens where I am now...in a month hardly will there be a single case of road/vehicle accidents, the roads are well constructed and amazing ...3 lanes separately for on going and coming traffic, with well defined legislations (trucks only travel at night) they have speed cams ...etc. Now tell me don’t they believe in God too? God has nothing to do with our ignorance and selfishness...we have high mortality rate today in Nigeria coz of our greed and being naive ...Religion has its place ...being constructive and civil has its place. Innocent lives are being lost every single day in a Nigeria. |
We live in a country where simplicity is no longer a norm ...mediocrity is being celebrated. Contentment is been defined as being lazy. Well I’m not surprised seeing and hearing all that senseless gibberish from those who will one day be expected to be wives and mothers ...those who will be expected to raise a decent and honest man/woman. This here is an example of how far we as Nigerians have derailed ....its in our everyday lives...our music, our lifestyle...our spirituality... |
Lakeside79:Don’t worry, they’ve got their so called musicians and politicians to boast of... not to forget their big brother Naija too! Don’t worry... let the country and it’s youths especially keep indulging in frivolous events |
decatalyst:Ouch!! Apologies brother. |
Awoofawo:That is what happens when you don’t have “knowledge of self”. Blacks just follow blindly...we don’t research nor question. I’m pretty sure 98% of Nigerians do not even know Egypt used to be entirely black. |
decatalyst:In order words “White” is pure and “Black” denotes evil...it’s not hard spotting mentally enslaved folks like you. FYI less you forget ...You're black. |
Only in Nigeria...Made for Nigerians by a Nigerian. |
Smh...only Nigerians are always under spiritual attack. Hence our backwardnesss... |
Only in Nigeria ...Made in Nigeria for the gullible |
Agimor:Believe me when I tell you this right here is so true...I reside in SA and you don’t wanna know what some of our brothers do here, all in the name of acquiring wealth. |
Elxandre:I completely agree with you but also you don’t seem to get my point. The America you’re speaking about has the best minds and intellects in areas of it countries that matters...such as NASA, Pentagon etc. Why do u think them and other European and Asian countries are world powers today? They harness their potentials and skills together ...we (black African nations) are busy celebrating mediocrity, fighting over a religion that was given to us by whites and Arabs after enslaving our ancestors. Look at those ruling our dear country ...so brother Certificate isn’t everything but our skills and intellect can be sharpened by proper education. This so called likes of wizkids can’t do anything for us but sing about ladies provocatively and we enrich them while the country crumbles each day. I’m a living testimony to this, I’m been employed by the government of country that isn’t mine, they utilize my skills alongside other compatriots of mine for their own development. Nigeria didn’t offer such chance or previlege. One of my colleague here is one of the best programmers have met in my lifetime.. |
The so called president and his cohorts won’t applaud such an achievement but would rather congratulate the likes of wizkid and Davido for spreading moral decadence with their vague songs. Shithole country! |
elfmann:Leave them alone...these set of people are unbelievably naive and ignorant. They would never read or research to know their own history. How they got these religious beliefs, they’ve been conditioned to think that their own beliefs are diabolical. Just listen to such prophecies, I can imagine how many homes have been broken from such...and this is only possible with black Africans. Even the whites who gave them the religion don’t do such stupid shit. |
This is what happens when a sect of people don’t know their history but would rather uphold a belief and culture of those who enslaved and tainted their original believes and culture. Let’s be logical and reasonable here, so God would rather listen to a prayer that is ill-motivated. Also because a certain so-called “Man-of-God” propheszied to him...SMH. That’s the same God who is merciful. When we as a people (blacks) are supposed to love our families and bask in love together but rather our own kind would cook up conspiracies to divide us ...This is sad. Now some innocent kids would soon lose the love from having both parents...and become broken and damaged coz someone said their mother is hindering their fathers financial progress. Only in Nigeria and In Africa would one hear all these ludicrous stories and prophecies. |
blacks, Africans #smh |
Funny...if only they practice what they preach and emulate their messiah. if it were Jesus Christ would he have called the police too? Clueless folks...how is the defaulter suppose to change? If the institution and custodian of the holy faith would gladly hand him over for persecution. He’s definitely hungry!!! I do not even need religion to deduce this. SMH |
And they argue over the white man’s religion, an foreign import, hang the picture of white Jesus on their wall, travel miles to a holy city because non of all these occurrences in the “holy books” ever took place on ur own soil ...the race that enslaved them, colonized them, lynched them ruined their heritage and then decided to give them religion. I know the Blackman is good at following and consuming without questioning. Go ahead...continue praying, it’s obvious how these religions you’re arguing about has built ur own country and continent. Please go ahead...there is no need for you Research about your own history and how these religions arrived at your shores coz all you all ever do is accept. You are all suffering from the Stockholm syndrome. |
MrScribe:Don't argue with them...it's very typical of we black people to just follow. That's why our history is slowly being erased. Christianity is was never ours. The white folks brought it to our shores after enslaving us but NO the black child follows blindly. They've got the picture of a white Jesus on their wall...they don't even know their heritage ...clueless and blind...look at the present state of our country...churches everywhere...no research being done...The Asians developed automobiles ...Computers and so on and we consume..they are not even Christians...ask a typical Black Christian, he/she will say they're going to hell. what do we have to show for lol these shit? The government ruin our future everyday, all we do is pray ..very sad. Have u ever seen a white family given an African Name? Yet we give ourselves English names...we are a clueless race .. we need to wake up. |

This one of numerous reason why this country will never grow. This is animal cruelty. Why other sane countries are trying to conserve their wildlife, we are busy killing and eating them. Open your eyes, so you can see the bigger picture... if you do u will understand the benefits we can get from conserving wildlife. |
orijintv:Spot on...you've said it all. In a country full of so many churches and mosques. Not to talk of the so called clueless corrupt leaders. Being humane doesn't even require religion but NO...it's all about money in this freaking country of ours. |
You just wasted your words...they'll never ever listen. |
There is a huge difference between education and being educated. Sadly most people only acquire formal education for the purpose of acquiring a means to an end. Education doesn't really have to be in a formal classroom, it's basically acquiring knowledge that in the end makes you a better person to yourself and the world as a whole. You become refined, civil and diplomatic. If you're also looking at it from the point of being successful monetary-wise, you do not need to fully acquire a formal education to be successful. People are just who they are ...educated or not. You can't blame education entirely for the ills and menance all around us today. All the fundamental institutions like parenting, religious institutions etc have all failed as well. |
My condolence to the family of the deceased. It's unfortunate that we live in a country where lives are not valued. No basic social amenities, same recycled incompetent so-called leaders who do not understand the ripple effects of unemployment and insecurity in nation. What exactly do we benefit from the so called NYSC scheme? While other economic driven countries are busy enhancing the standard of living in their country, we are doing the exact opposite. |
Ijobaorun:I understand your concerns and I really do feel for the students of the institution as they are the ones at the receiving end. The federal and state government owe these lecturers months of unpaid wages and these private institutions are willing to pay them, especially the the ones with PhDs. It's quite funny though, because both the private and public tertiary institutions are not even up to standards expected of them. Non of our institutions have state-of-the -art teaching and learning facilities. Poor infrastructures and management, even most these lecturers are not worthy to teach at a higher learning institution. Truth is no one cares, and the youths are rather interested in unproductive endeavors. How many comments can u find on this section of nairaland compared to others. |
@OP like someone rightly pointed out earlier, it seems you've forgotten this is Nigeria. Even if you integrate these technologies, they're still lots of bottlenecks that will hinder the user(s) from exploring the full potentials and benefits of these innovations. Nigeria is not there yet and I ever doubt we would with such mediocres in power. All the same nice write up. |
