mamas pls i want to introduce cereals to my baby.is cerelac ok?

@ sayoberry or kimoni please tag me to those posts about purees or home made baby food. @ all which cereal should I start my 6 months on as a first cereal...she is only on pap now....I want to add soya,crayfish(the packed one) etc by next week....

I don't know for sure o! She is eating a lot more these days so I can't attribute her weight gain to only complan

A good flask works well, up to 12 hours.

thanks dear,can u recommend a good and portable small flask I can easily carry and pls can I mix the milk b4 pouring into the flask??

pls mamas how do I keep my baby's pap fresh for a long time before I get home and make another....how well will a warmer or flask work..

@esteria i'm being soo patient with her and she improved this evening,pray she continues and @mydreams25 I sang to her while feeding her this evening and she ate more....thanks dears..

I used one locally produced plastic chair when my children where babies. Its low in height so there's no fear per se of falling from the chair. Please look around for it.

I've given mine out, would have put up a picture.

The concept of "sitting and being fed" may help the individual realise it's time for eating and not for faffing around

Please pace yourself as much as you can. routines and following schedules really help when caring for babies. Sorry to hear you have to do it all alone for now....

Don't worry baby will buy you jeeeeppppssss as compensation!

I'd say as much as you can time the feeds. Don't wait until she's cranky, sleepy or crying before preparing the food. You can try every three hours. Minimise distractions e.g other people or tv if possible. If you have a high chair, by all means use it. Do little quantity at a time.

If you can get someone else to feed her too, please try it. Sometimes its a matter of "see finish".

Then of course you can't breast feed her 10 minutes ago and attempt to give her pap. she won't take it.

Then you can start off with plain pap and just milk. Introduce other flavours i.e crayfish etc etc as time goes on.

Thanks dear,I feel much better,I just started with plain pap and milk....I don't have a high chair yet and my husband leaves early for work and comes late cos of Lagos traffic.so I take care of her all alone...would ask him to feed her weekend let's see how it goes...

Please don't be...... I'm a Ftm too and my daughter was like that 2 months ago. It was so hard for me cos she does not want anything except breastmilk but it's much better now. Try to get his/her favorite food like maybe breastfeed before offering solid as that will let baby knows that he or she still have access to breastmilk. I read some where that they don't want to take solid cos they are scared they won't have access to breastmilk again. Try different food for each three days so as to get his or her favorite. Pay attention to your own baby and see his or her respond to any food. Do not start doing so many things
Suggested to you as each baby are unique in their own way and they will definitely like different things....... I was crying some weeks back but so proud now as my baby eat everything I give to her. Don't be tired please.Good luck mama.

my daughter is 6 months now so I just started her on pap, it has not been easy getting her to eat. in fact I'm so down right now....she will turn get distracted,cry,shake in fact I'm tired... neva knew taking of a baby was dis hectic....*crying* ftm

Yessss!!! this baby pooing alot when teething is so real o,any baby that doesnt poo alot when teething is a super star ,lol. My baby will soon be 7months and pooing like no man's concern. He poo like 6times a day. Chai,after changing diaper and the next thing i hear is another sound of poo. Am going for the zinc tablet Mzora talked about.
Pls Mzora how many days or weeks did your baby poo alot before you noticed the teeth coming out? thanks.

He could be teething,pls keep giving water and breast milk(if u're still breasfeeding).if the stooling continues give him baby zinc tab once daily. He would be fine..also be careful with things he puts in his mouth.

yea it did. Though not immediately. it stopped after some days.

Well done Mamas. Pls my 5 month old son poos after every feed. Sometimes i wudnt av finished feeding him and he would poo. Its been going on for like close to a month now. What can I do to stop this?

could be teething, it happened to my baby recently..I sterilized her toys and was very careful with things she puts in her mouth. I also gave her zinc tab half morning and half nite.(use little water to melt it)

Uwc dear. It actually depends on u. I think from 6months a baby needs minimum of 600ml milk daily. So even if u start start solid u should give milk inbetween.

My son stopped taking milk from bottle at 6months so I make sure 90% of his cereal needs addition of milk.

Also are u still breastfeeding?

yes,I'm still breastfeeding. just want to start her on other things gradually. like pap,solids,cereals etc...I pray she accepts bottle...

There's always a feeding chart/guide on the tin of the formula.start with small quantities and work ur way up cos your baby might not drink much @ 1st. As for sterilizing, I use cold water sterlizer, buy milton tablets and follow instructions written on it, you can also buy electric sterilizer if you wish. But why not consider introducing solids to your baby, I am guessing you will still be breastfeeding.

thanks for your advice. yea,I'm doing exclusive for her ,though I'm rounding up in a few days. I've starting putting little food in her mouth so she can get different food taste. will be soaking corn for pap by weekend.

@deezou,you can start with ori(shea butter)or coconut oil from birth till like 6 months before switching to a skin care range. boots products is good thou in case u wanna try. for diapers Huggies and dry love are very good.

the major component of the shampoo is ketoconozale(spelling pls).so ask for other brands with it.

tell her to get nizzoral shampoo and use to wash the hair once every day. then apply ori or coconut oil to help the hair grow back.
