Akwa Ibom people will love Jagaban more for calling Udom a boy. Jagaban is not lying. Even as Governor, Udom spends at least 4 days a week at his residence in Lagos. The streets of Uyo are wild for Jagaban. Jagaban will win at least 10 Local Governments in Akwa Ibom. He will get his 25% and move on. Akwa Ibom people know the person that brought Jagaban to them. He is the person that built the stadium used for the campaign today. It is the best stadium in Nigeria modelled after Bayern's Arena in Munich. It is better than the one in Peter Obi's Anambra or Atiku's Adamawa. He is the person that gave Akwa Ibom State an airport. Anambra's billionaires used to land in Enugu state under Peter Obi and drive to their mansions in the village. Anambra had no airport. Akwa Ibom people know the man who built flyovers, quality roads - some extended into neighbouring Abia State. His name is Akpabio. He is the one who brought Tinubu to his people and told them "Tinubu is a builder like me". Akwa Ibom people will not fail Akpabio on his quest to become Nigeria's third citizen. They will vote massively to return Akpabio to the Senate and vote massively too for Tinubu. That crowd you saw in Uyo today is pure love for Akpabio and Tinubu. APC will score better than Labour Party in AKWA IBOM. Stop the hate-filled narrative. |

The saving grace of Anambra State is its prominent men who are some of the most daring traders on earth. In January 2011, I escorted my mother to Anambra for an event. We didn't drive because those days Anambra was the epicenter of kidnappings in Nigeria. We used a public vehicle. When I alighted at the park, the good pupil in me asked the taxi driver, whose taxi we were to take to our final destination, for the trash can where I could throw away the empty bottles and wraps of my snacks. The driver laughed, took the things from me an threw it into a heap of open disgusting refuse stationed at the middle of the road. I can't forget that incidence not because Calabar, which was the last place I travelled to in December for their carnival had waste bins after every 50 metres or shorter, but because the taxi driver laughed all through the journey and charged my mum a ridiculously high fare. My mum told me he did that because of my lectures on how plastics were not good for the environment. The little me knew that Anambra State needed an airport. We could have avoided that "wahala" if they had an airport. Even little travellers knew that it was shameful for a state with the 100s of indigenes that can afford private jets not to have one. Today, the people who landed in Enugu's Airport to get to Anambra for Christmas under Peter Obi are the same people telling me that he will build 5 seaports in Nigeria ![]() |
ednut1:Umoh isn't an Efik name alone, though. But it isn't an Igbo name. |
Small world! My Esther finally makes it to Nairaland! This isn't about politics here! Esther is an industrious and ambitious girl with a midas touch. Esther wouldn't want the word "beautiful" or "gorgeous" to be used to describe her. She'd rather you called her a photographer or videographer with pedigree. She doesn't put a single joule of energy in anything other than money making. She was raised well. Still in her early 20s. |
Any presidential candidate that wins will have more people celebrate his victory. It is the very essence of democracy - that the majority wins. If a candidate secures 13 million votes against his opponents' 8 million and 5 million, isn't it logical to conclude that 13 million+ who are more than 8 million and 5 million will rejoice making them the team with most celebrants? Always have in mind that the bulk of people in Anambra, Enugu etc wish a different winner from millions from Oyo, Osun, Borno, Yobe, Kebbi, Jigawa, Adamawa etc. I understand your lack of objectivity which is rooted in extremism and the incapacity to comprehend another's man perspective. To get the answer you most likely want, your question should be " Whose victory is most likely to result in the wildest and most extreme celebrations?" The answer will definitely be Peter Obi because of his Messiah complex and cult-like following. We've seen men set their cars ablaze after a court discharged a secessionist leader lately. We understand the passion and blind faith the bulk of Peter Obi's followers have which makes them logically the group that will brag, and throw a carnival to celebrate a victory. But will their dreams come to pass or they're just a passionate, loud, fanatical and committed minority? We'll find out in a month's time. |
SeaTrade:You're very right. That's why the commercial banks didn't come first on my random listing which had Dangote on top. I listed commercial banks because I think they provide sources of income to people more than the tech companies/ startups listed in the article. I wasn't thinking in direction of loans. I was thinking in the direction of POS businesses littered across our streets. 80% of those businesses get their machines and setup from commercial banks. Some commercial banks run affiliate businesses. For instance, there is a First Bank programme that people living in rural areas can register for which makes them perform the functions of a First Bank branch on a small scale since there aren't banks near them and the locals cannot transport themselves to the nearest branch conveniently. In terms of interest rates like you said, it's a big "NO" from our commercial banks. |
Dangote, BUA, MTN, Airtel, Multichoice, Julius Berger, Globacom, God is Good Motors (logistic and transport companies of same Calibre), Air Peace, Commercial Banks, Living Faith Church, Dunamis Church, Betnaija, Nairabet, Sportybet, Bolt, Uber, etc. Jumia or whatever comes a distant 500 in Nigeria. |
Brendaniel:China is different from Nigeria and India. In China, the lives of citizens are centrally controlled and managed by the CCP. The CCP replaces the Country's leader with another CCP faithful who will continue the agenda of the CCP for China. The CCP is an atheist party. All its members take the status of atheists. The Government is atheist and suppress religion in the state to bring unity and produce forward thinking people even in rural areas. For instance they're planning to rewrite the Bible. They've kept Uighur Muslims in concentration camps for decades- feed them pork and make them blaspheme. Can you keep Muslims in camps in Nigeria or India to make them have sense? What the Chinese Government says stands. The regulate everything from how much citizens can access international media to the number of children a citizen can have. China is a one-party undemocratic communist republic where a supreme leader makes decisions without being questioned. It was why Mao Zedong was able to starve tens of millions to death with his policies to register the plans of the CCP. |
An elite actress? Yes My childhood crush? Yes A deep thinker? No I've always compared India to Nigeria although Indians are more disciplined than Nigerians. Visit all the firms in a random boulevard at Silicon Valley, 8 out of 10 will be managed by Indians. Most heads of Fortune 500 companies are Indians. They dominate medical practice in many Western Countries. India's generation Z outperform Western students in STEM courses in IVY leagues. An Indian is the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and many Indians have prominent roles in US, UK and Canadian governments. Visit Mumbai in India and all you see is a "dirtier Lagos" . The bulk of Indians live in poverty and cannot afford the basic necessities of life. Those in rural communities in India have it worse. It isn't political corruption. India's Prime minister, Narendra Modi has no child. He is a divorcee for decades with only books and writings to his name. When he dies, he will be cremated and his ashes may be thrown into water. Atal Vajpayee had no biological child too. So the argument of stolen resources cannot be logically raised. Like Nigeria, India is still buried in religious superstition. Like Nigeria, India has a worse tribalistic and caste system. Like Nigeria, half of India has not been penetrated by rational thinking. Like Nigeria, the part of India near Pakistan is home to some of the most vicious islamists on the planet. The best we can have are people with a Messiah complex who build cult followings during election periods in Nigeria. The very fact that millions of people believe that a messiah can make this system evolve in a couple of years is the very proof that we're still far from that Utopian society we envisage. Denmark, Norway, Switzerland, Belgium and UAE are heavens on Earth. However, they are not as powerful nor do they have more USD billionaires than India combined. The richest black men in the Planet can only be Nigerians. Nigeria is the India of Africa. Nigerians will always excel at home and abroad. If you love yourself as a Nigerian , work diligently for a better life and you will lift your name, your family and Nigeria wherever you find yourself. That's what the intelligent Indians do. That's what the few intelligent Nigerians do. We will only experience a beautiful environment with an amazing system when the bulk of Nigerians have more developed patterns of thinking than the early men. |
Gerrard59:You have limited idea on the subject matter and should do a research before defaming someone. That you ran a Google lens search and Google's algorithm listed the images from this thread on the search results does not mean that she stole the pictures somewhere. The OP runs a travel blog and had posted those pictures on her blog since last year. It's enough time for Google to display the images after a search. If I post my pictures here and you run a Google lens search, you'll find them littered all over the internet with links to my LinkedIn profile, newspapers and other platforms that I have featured. Some blogs republish someone's images online without written consent and credit. The only way you can confirm that she stole the pictures is that you find a link to the same pictures which predates those in her blog. I doubt you did that. For more than half a decade the OP has visited fine destinations across continents and has shared those moments with her thousands of followers. |
Seslie , I'm happy for you. I admire interracial relationships and I'm thrilled by the reality that you stole a handsome foreign Prince's heart. I hope to navigate the world and explore countries with the love of my life one day like you. I'm glad that you didn't fall for a Nigerian man. We are some of the stupidest breeds in this world. They've messed up your thread already. I advise that you quit Nairaland because the bulk of its users don't deserve to share in your experiences. Before you leave, tell us how you met Mark. Seems like a romantic story for the ages. |
Look inwards. The former Governor of Rivers State had a place in the Federal Executive council for 7 years. He headed an important ministry in the country and was given the responsibility of negotiating tens of billions of dollars with foreign States and multinationals to revamp Nigeria's archaic transportation infrastructure. Ameachi only left his department to seek for the highest office in Nigeria. He defeated the incumbent Vice-president and came second to Tinubu. Ameachi was not betrayed. APC kept their Presidential Primaries open and the most popular southern politician alive won it. Wike who remained in PDP lost to an experienced Atiku. If Ameachi remained in PDP he wouldn't still be PDP'S candidate against an Atiku or Wike. Peter Obi wouldn't come third in a PDP primaries election so he departed to an unknown party where he was not going to fight popular political figures to clinch the GCFR ticket. No southern politician alive stands a chance against Tinubu alone in a Nigerian election. If anyone apart from Tinubu wins in February, it is because a Northerner was in the race. Without an Atiku, Tinubu was going to get 80% of votes cast in Northern Nigeria against any southern politician. That is the Tinubu that Ameachi came only second to. |
North4Obi23:Coming from the Nnamdi Azikiwe international airport, you see Tinubu's and Shettima's campaign posters attached to the poles of the streetlights. After about 1.5 kilometers drive down the airport road , you'll start to see the posters of Atiku and Okowa attached to the poles of the streetlights. Move further, APC presidential posters come up again. Get to suburbs of the city like Galadima where you can find tricycle riders, you'll see 7 out of 10 of them wearing an APC or PDP article. If you visit Abuja without reading the Nigerian social media space, the first place you'll see a Labour Party poster is at a vehicle parts shop or grocery store deep in the outskirts of town. |
Yaribanzaonic:Isn't the idea about Peter Obi not the optimism that he'll win without any elite support? You're leaving the theme of the argument. The idea of the argument is that Osun and Anambra elections was about Adeleke and Soludo not about Tinubu and Peter Obi. It was why both presidential candidates did not have their candidates win. |
Yaribanzaonic:This is a very stupid analogy. Soludo won Valentine (PDP'S candidate) at the last Anambra Gubernatorial polls even when Peter Obi campaigned for the PDP candidate and was at that time in the same party with the candidate. When you talk about Tinubu losing Osun because the candidate he supported lost the Governorship Election with a very small margin , one can also argue that Peter Obi will lose Anambra because Soludo defeated the Governorship candidate he sponsored and supported. Let's face it, Osun elections and Anambra elections were about charismatic characters like Adeleke and Soludo who were serial contestants contesting against their Yoruba and Igbo brothers respectively. Tinubu may win Osun better than how Obi will win Anambra. |
Urchinpainer:For instance, Tompolo is called "Government". In his community, he isn't called any other name than "Government." After God, the next people the creeks Revere are their militants. I've sat with kids and teenagers who have already spread folklore about these men they idolize. These are communities with 20,000; 30,000 etc voters on paper. You have to cross with speedboats to get election materials to some of these places. If Tompolo supports a candidate, it means that there are thousands of votes the candidate will get because of Tompolo alone. Again, I'm not speaking as an outsider. |
MrEverest:I have a soft spot for Tinubu, but , TBH Atiku may do better than Obi in Rivers State. It's not hearsay. I've seen groups and individuals supporting Atiku here. They don't come online on Social media to announce it. |
The Urban areas in the Niger Delta will have votes distributed between Atiku, Obi and Tinubu in that order. PDP and APC will dominate the results in the rural areas of the Niger Delta depending on party structures and vote buying superiority. |
Yaribanzaonic:I'm not speaking like an outsider. 20 years ago the creeks of the Niger Delta would not vote for an "Obi". The status quo remains today. Is it Asari Dokubo or Tompolo or Ateke Tom that will pull their weights behind Obi because Atiku and Tinubu supported Buhari in 2015? ![]() |
N3TRAL:It gets funnier when "we supported Jonathan in 2015" comes up. Surprisingly, Bayelsa appears to be the one State Obi may not see 25% in the South South. The story of the South South Minorities and the South Eastern majority is similar to that of the United Kingdom. Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland celebrated the Death of the Queen of England more likely than any place in the world. They wore Italian Jerseys in the last Euros finals and supported France to knockout England in the Quarter Finals of the Fifa world cup. England helps them a lot, but somehow, they want to see England fail. These are neighbours who share almost everything in common who would love to see a distant person win it than their dominant and overwhelming neighbours. This is the reality. Forget the virtue signaling on the media. Prepare your minds for what you'll most likely term "betrayal". |
For the umpteenth time, Labour Party will not win: Akwa Ibom State Bayelsa State Cross River State Delta State Edo State Rivers State However, they're states he will get at least 25% of the total votes cast. |

Big Question ❓ |
The introduction of BVAS will affect all political players. In past presidential elections it wasn't like APC were always rigging the Elections at Anambra , Enugu or River States more than PDP. The reality is that no APC agent will go to Peter Obi's local government area this coming February to buy votes in the first place. For Peter Obi to have a million votes from Anambra since that is his stronghold, he needed returning officers at Polling units to inflate his scores. Yes, nothing would happen as long as the majority of those voting at Polling units across Anambra will accept the deal. If there's rigging despite BVAS, PDP will win three States in the South South by a mile. If there's no rigging with BVAS, the difference the three major candidates will have in the South South region in terms of votes will be so unreasonable to give any one a good lead. |
1999, 2003, 2007 and 2011 had results scribbled and signed at polling units with or without a reasonable number of voters. After President Jonathan failed in 2015, the first blame levelled against him was why he allowed Jega as the INEC chairman. Even 2015 was rigged and fake results were written in the South East and South South for Jonathan while fake results were also written in the North for Buhari. The recent elections conducted with BVAS have shown that Osun State and Ekiti state that have two of the least voting in the South West geo political zone can produce more than 800,000 votes each without writing fake results. Anambra showed the opposite with way less than 600,000 total votes. Anambra represents the highest voting strength in the South East geo-political zone. |
Everyone knows that the promising mining industry of Osun State was a major reason Adedeji Adeleke sponsored his brother's election but that's not the issue. It is what all Godfather's do. The irony is that the bulk of those who hate the "Lagos Landlord" support the "Osun Landlords". The Osun Landlords' father was a Governor of the same state. When their Senator brother died, the one that is an incumbent Governor was sent to the Senate to occupy his seat. The Osun Landlords have nothing to show their peasants for decades of political and economic dominance that started even before their infamous relationship with successive Nigerian dictators yet they are still adored. I consider myself a good student of reality and my school is the hypocrisy arena of this country. If you want to be tomorrow's leader get used to this information: 1. Machiavelli's "it is better to be feared than loved" is archaic and has outlived its importance. Commit the most gruesome atrocities but ensure that you're loved. 2. Marry a woman from another tribe, preferably , a major Nigerian ethnic group. 3. Be a great storyteller , a dancer , or a comedian. Try your best to entertain the people. 4. Be a pacifist and maintain political correctness at all times. 5. Play the victim card no matter how easy you've had it. Democracy is not designed to choose leaders who can change the narrative. It is structured to elect representatives that are most loved. With the 5 tips above, you'll always be one of the most loved in Nigeria's political space. Btw, I expect nothing spectacular in Osun at the end of the current administration. |
