If you are satisfied and feel your order is complete then the price of the bucket or transport is okay too.... the decision to buy in the first place was out of conviction the price was reasonable. oseiwe kindly assist see if this looks OK, I want to give the go ahead. any modifications? My response in Red. Pls this is just my unsolicited opinion on the quote. It’s not bible.pic isn't attaching. This estimation is for 2bedroom and 4bedroom duplex to decking levelDoes this include the foundation cost or just the cost of work from foundation to lintel? If I get you right, you’re building a 2 bedroom and a 4 bedroom duplex. Am I right?
If the answer is yes to the above, the estimate is too cheap to build anything worthy.2500pcs of blocks (200 * 2500) = #500,0002500 blocks can never finish 2 bedroom and a 4 bedroom duplex whether you’re building from DPC level or starting from the ground up. You’ll need more block. N200 per block is a good deal!60bags of cement (2700 * 60) = #162,000If these will be used to take care of the following:
- Blinding - Foundation Wall - DPC - Ground Floor Blockwork - Columns/Lintels
60 bags of cement won’t be enough even if you’re using just 2500 blocks.15tonnes of granite = #85,000This will work for column/lintels but not inclusive of foundation20tonnes of sharp sand = #60,000Maybe for ground floor blockwork and lintel. You can always check/compare prices with locals.20tonnes of soft sand = #50,000I don’t know about this one.Half tonne of 12mm iron = #130,000This is for what exactly.
If it’s Lintels/Column, it’s impossible! Beside, it’s recommended that you use a 16mm Rods for Column supporting a slab (decking)Iron for deckingThis is confusing though!8pcs of 16mm iron (4,800 * = #38,400The price is right. The quantity is impossible for whatever you’re planning.
I am stopping here until I get further clarification on exactly what you’re trying to achieve.20lenghts of 10mm iron = #44,000 1 roll of binding wire = *#8,000* Planks for pillar and linted* 50pcs if planks (1400 * 50) = *#70,000* 1bag of nail = *#6,000* Workmanship = *#350,000* ******* For peggingIf pegging is involved, it means you’re doing foundation. Just forget about it sir! The total estimate won’t get you off ground in any part of the South West.6pcs of somi planks (1400 * 6) = 8400* Cutting of some planks (200 * 6) = *1200* 2 bundle of Peggy wood (2500 *2) = *#5000* Nail = 3,000 *Total = #1,521,4000*[/quote] |

earthrealm: whatever you do, dont buy mecury inverters, its a pile of horses,h.it. most mecury inverters are modified sine wave, not pure sine wave, spoils inductive loads, like fans, clipper, blender etc.
seems you have a small inverter?. i recommend 3 to 4kva for most family homes.with minimum 4 batts there is a nifty device you can buy and install in your inverter output, to prevent it being inadvertently overloaded, will post the pic later.i have been using inverters since 2009. none had any serious issue, apart from my elcheapo first inverter 1kva, 25k then, it stopped charging, but still inverts, i added a small charger to it. till i gave it out when i upgraded I started with small inverter and one battery setup. Now on Xantrex. I have different setups tho. This is what I’ve found out. Every product you’ve not used is always better. |

perfectsmiles: Good day. As for what happened to your neighbour this is as a result of either of the following or even both. 1) Use of inferior materials 2) Lack of proper system sizing.
Sorry, this might be a long one but, you will surely get value from it.
1) As we all know just like every other aspect of life there are fake materials out there in the market thanks to Chinko products (very good Chinko dey ooo) and is not really easy to identify some of the fake ones, it only takes a professional to be able to identify them. Sometimes the home-owner looking for cheaper products end up falling into the hands of hungry solar installers and at the end, they get those inferior materials for them because they are looking for money. Before you know what is happening and in the shortest period of time everything fails. Thus, bringing about pain, regret and frustration. These types of unsatisfied customers are the ones that end up preaching the gospel of solar being a scam and a waste of money.
Note: The pain of a poor job will always overshadow a cheap price.
2) And the other reason is the lack of proper solar system sizing. every component of solar energy is meant to sized properly starting from the solar panels, the inverter the solar battery, charger controller the size of wire and even protective breaker. Once any component is not properly sized that solar installation is bound to fail, so what really happened to your neighbour is that his system was not really sized well. Once it runs on an undersized battery or panel the system will fail.
Let's take for instance what your system is meant to carry is 4 batteries from the sizing done using some design calculation, rather you end up using just 2 batteries. These 2 batteries will be overworked and thus making it to fail within a short time. Batteries are not supposed to be drained down to 0% in good system sizing. Batteries are supposed to be drained up to 50% and the remaining batteries are doing the other work because there is provision for backup. So what really happened to your Neighbour is that there was no proper system sizing so the batteries were draining and no sufficient charges from the solar panel. Probably what is even charging up the battery from the solar panel is not even up to what is being drained from the battery, so that will make the batteries week. It will work very well in the first few months and that is the end.
So to properly size a system some calculations are being carried out, and that can be done by taking into cognizance the loads to be used in the house and not the size of the house (two bedrooms flat, three rooms and polour) as some persons feel.
I believe this really clear some issues.
Solar is really an investment with high ROI (return on investment). These is because it will take off the cost of buying fuel and paying for energy, stress, gen noise and carbon emission, thus keeping your family safe. But note it takes a while and can be achieved when handled by a professional solar engineer and not anyhow installers out here.
Thank you. For any advice, you can check my signature and DM for help, consultation, quotes or any solar related issues
Engr. Chinedu. Thanks. I got value. |

So I went to fight my welder this afternoon for keeping mum when I asked him why he’d sell a door of 18k for 45k when the most expensive component is just N4500.
He said “I didn’t respond because I wanted you to go and see for yourself.” He asked me to take pen and do the calculations.
1. 1 1/2 x 3 pipe (frame for the door) 2. Designed Plate 3. 9in External Frame 4. Hinges 5. 1 inch pipe for braces 6. Electrode 7. Lock (He said I shouldn’t bother about this) 8. Painter 9. Transport
10. He said “Go and arrange all the items listed above (whatever quality you want) and pay me any amount you like for the job. Remember, I will cut, weld, grind and use diesel//electricity.”
I just had to apologize to him and move on.

n3xt: Interlock Updates: Concrete Pigments
You can by natural color concrete pigments to your concrete to produce a natural stone color or other decorative colorations.
I’m using red oxide and black for this project. 1kg bag is sold N1,300 and it can produce about 10sqm of stone.
#brabusinterlockDIY It has been a while since my last update on the interlocking project. We already got over 260sqm of 8cm interlocking bricks ready onsite.

EgunMogaji2: This brings up another interesting point.
Owners needs to pay attention to solar equipment more than a generator. For gen you just change oil and you're done, maybe air filter once in a while. But for solar you need to watch the alarms and interpret, monitor the harvesting, for lead acid batteries top up the water, etc Not daunting but those that just install the solar system and forget about it usually have issues.
The cheap inverters might not have overload protection, battery level monitoring, etc and the reason why I like hybrid inverters is that if push comes to show you can always fire your gen to charge the batteries. Nothing kills a battery faster than not properly charging them or letting them run down to zero. This is completely true. I once had issues with my generator. It was not charging the batteries. It was the inverter that showed me that the current supplied by the generator is too low. The generator was still making the usual noise Better soup na money kill am |

earthrealm: I suspect ypur neighbours own failed cos of overloading. He probablly had only 4 batteries and put ac on it. 8 x 12v x 200ah batteries is the minimum size of batteey you shud have b4 thinking of ac.
Its like using 2001 camry to tow a truck, it will tow the truck ok, but be prepared To replace gear box and or engine after that My 4th inverter got damaged because my in-law decided to try pressing iron on it. The inverter (Mercury) blew. But my latest inverter will trip off and put a message on the screen. A lot of people do overload their system. I’ve had 3 since 8 years ago and added the 4th one 2018 without major issues. |

It a 3-bedroom apartment. Pls do you mind sharing the contact of your supplier/installer with me. Thanks. |

In Ilorin here 5tons of stone dust goes for N13,000 minus transport, so we buy 30tons for 78k+ transport 30k =108k for 30tons in Ilorin.
how did you go about buying 30tons of stone dust for 72k in Ibadan

Part of the reason is that the renewable energy biz juust like other sectors in nigeria is unregulated. Clowns fronting as installerrs, who make a mess of things, making people to believe solar doesnt work.

I now understand why you guys build a site storage store. I’m already looking for a 20” container to use for that.
What hurt me more was the lower exchange rate That’s the situation right now. We were lucky to get the 200 bags. Experience has shown me that it’s always better to buy in bulk. It’s safer and cheaper in the long run if you want to avoid cost overrun. I had to invest in a mobile storage for this cos the cost of building storage facility aren’t cheap too
