it's Sunday, I'm at home not at work. Can I do that tomorrow?
By now, you should have gotten used to carrying pics of your work/project with you all the time. Save them in cloud storage if your phone don't have enough storage.

It’s a very important thing to do in this age.

I went off grid 8yrs ago. I told my landlord then to disconnect me from the postpaid meter,

Leezah: Good evening Sir, how are you and family?
Landlord: Good evening, my pickin, we thank God.
Leezah: Baba, e joor mo Fe ino NEPA no ( I don't want NEPA light)
Landlord: How will you use light
Leezah: Baba! E ma worry, mi Oni owo NEPA bill more and I don't want it to be am the reason for NEPA disconnecting our light
Landlord: O Fe ino (you don't want light) how will you cope
Leezah: Yes baba, unless I will be the one making them cut our light because I don't want NEPA light anymore.
Landlord: Ko buru omo mi
Today Landlord uses solar panels system
My NEPA bill for years hasn’t gone beyond N2,000 per month.

I’m currently 70% off-grid. I don’t use PHCN to pump water and I have a good arrangement with my laundry man.

Remember to always make yourself a preferred client grin

I’m not really bothered about the increase in tariff. People in my community knew I’ll always have light no matter what.

Las las, PHCN will be abandoned like Water Corporation in this country. The earlier everyone start moving towards this reality, the better.

There are inverter welding machine now so no excuse. My current project is being welded with inverter welding machines. There’s even pocket-size welding machine.

I have my dc water pump that can be powered using motorcycle battery.

The world is constantly evolving. Our leaders are just stucked in their old ways.

It will be very shameful if someone is in obodo oyinbo and is not making it work better than most at home.

Just saying and I do want to elaborate cheesy
To advance forward in Nigeria, we need to engage diasporas as development partners.

Why?

- They've improved their skills abroad which, on their return, should benefit their home countries.

- Diasporas can bridge the transnational space and facilitate transnational cooperation.

- Innovative practices targeting diasporas could favour foreign direct investment policy in general.

Smart communities should come up with innovative practices targeting diasporas to improve their business environment and open new windows of opportunities.

If I’m a community leader, I’d give Baba Egunmogaji2 free land to come and set up skill acquisition center. grin

I know a diaspora who towed that path. He’s currently the special adviser to the President on Job Creation, Afolabi Imoukhuede.
He started in a community (technical school) in Ikorodu.

The terms of engagement determines who bear the brunt.

If the contract is to “supply, install and test/commission” a project, timely delivery of materials is very critical.

Late delivery of materials can lead to project delay and cost overrun in some other cases and such is not treated as an excusable delay.

For us at NextHome, we always factor in excusable delay (sickness, accident, pandemic, disputes, or even omo onile wahala) into every contract.
QSFemi

We always have this clearly written in every contract. No one have x-ray vision.

QSFemi:
Building and any other construction job is a contract either willfully entered into or not. The moment a contractor or builder submits a quotation to undertake a job for a client in exchange of remuneration, a contract is already established that's binding on both parties - client and contractor.

The reality of this scenario will come to limelight when there is a disagreement or dispute between both parties. So, a contractor's quote, project working drawings, specifications are all contract documents tenable in a arbitration or even formal court.

That's why clients and contractors are encouraged to engage the right professionals for every suitable of the project during pre-construction (pre-contract) and during and after-construction (post contract.

A typical scenario:

A and contractor entered into a contract unwittingly, say in March, before the dire consequences of Covid-19. The client pays 30% of the contract sum to the contractor as mobilization fee. Due to Covid-19, construction was suspended for about 4 months. Now, construction is about to be resumed on site and the contractor discovered that prices of virtually all materials needed have hiked by over 15% as against his quote.

Question:

Who bear the responsibility of this increase?

while solar and wind sources are here and the future but huge investment is needed . femi otedola already DE-invested in oil and investing in power energy.again america do have many functional refineries...Targa Resources just built new one in Texas...even Marathon Oil in Garyville, Louisiana. building brand new to add to their existing capacity ...dont forget the Dakota access pipelines ...even with huge disruptions..it is still oil ...investment and leaders with foresight .
Valid!

However, history has proven to us that period of crisis are often when structural changes accelerate.
The demand for oil is already slowing down before covid and the pandemic seems to have pushed it into a new era. For example, FGN can no longer subsidies fuel, electricity.

Some things will definitely remain the same for a while especially now that activities are resuming (Dangote Refinery, Targa, Marathon and the likes) but investors must be prepared for a flatter growth outlook post-covid.

A combination of weaker economies, changes in consumer behaviour, and government policies could/may put a brake on oil consumption for many years.

This is going to affect a lot of things.

Most refinery are gradually diversifying to industrial chemicals production, I wonder where he will sell or import to, Toyota already stopped production of diesel engine in Europe and all their models now come with half electric and half petrol of minimum Euro6+ engine specifications, 2021 will be a crucial turning point that will see rapid phasing out of combustion engine etc.
Dangote is just being pressured to build those refineries, a smart business man knows the future of Petrol and diesel is bleak, unless he has plan to diversify into industrial chemicals in the future.

I wonder what guide our policies makers decision to embrace outdated, expensive and environmentally unfriendly project.

Could you imagine the amount of energy we could generate if we set up windmills and solar panels energy parks on land and sea? Yeah! I remember, We couldn't because politicians still consider it a complex rocket science..... and there are quiet Nigerian professionals all over the world that could make it work back home with the RIGHT SUPPORT.

Soon here, home glass windows will be generating solar power.
SOS!!!

I want to go completely off grid and show more people it could be done.
We’ve learnt to survive without Ministry of Water Resources. We can achieve the same with the Ministry of Mines & Power.

I’ll share a video of a project that’s completely off grid shortly. I hope I’m able to find it.

Those were natural talents, architecture were way different and complex than now, and their results have stood the test of time with minimal signs of wear and tear and their durability and substances still rivals modern builds.

Pic1. It's a friend family house that was built in 18th century, it still stands today, look just look at those thick walls..... that's how they overcame harsh winters and summer (warm in winter and cooler in summer)

I appreciate modern technology but I can't resist the curiousity of visiting and getting to learn and understanding how everything started and what they went through to get humanity this far.....it took me to Mercedes (undisputed Daimler - Benz) in Stuttgart where automobile started and Ferrari in Italy who turned the heat up. Like they all agreed, it was not just about making money but National and personal PRIDE.

While we still scramble for petrol and diesel cars others are already moving past that stage and making electric cars the new normal.

EXPERT'S ADVISE ON BUILDING CRACKS

Regardless of construction type, walls crack because they are overloaded or because the structure has settled or heaved. Vertical and angled cracks are usually caused by settlement or heaving. Horizontal cracks are caused by lateral pressure.

In your case, since the cracks are wider at the top than the bottom it’s an indication of settlement. Ill suggest you talk to an expert/structural engineer to diagnose the cause and severity of these cracks.
