A teenage girl who recently gave birth has been rescued from "bondage" in Akwa Ibom state following a petition by a well meaning citizen over her well-being and that of the baby.

On Friday, the president of Norms Restoration Movement Comr. David John received a distress call from a concerned citizen in Ikot Ekpene LGA to rescue a young 17 year old girl identified as Ms. Unyime David Udo, a native of Ikot Akpa Ayara in Ikono LGA, who was impregnated and subsequently gave birth to a baby girl but was kept under duress and undue influence by one Prince Akan Eyo of Ikot Ekpene LGA.

On arriving there, the president noted with utter despair the inhumane condition which the mother and child were, efforts were made by the president to rescue the girl but the man insisted he won't release the girl.

The President got information about the whereabouts of the girl's parents and tracked down the father at Ikot Akpa Ayara village in Ikono LGA, who claimed that the girl was with the husband but on seeing pictures of the state in which his daughter lived, he broke down and wept.

The Village Head of Ikot Akpa Ayara in Ikono LG Barr, Ndarake mandated the father to go back with the president to get his daughter.

The girl was rescued and talks are underway to ensure comfortable living conditions for the mother and child.

A lecturer at University of Calabar, (UNICAL), has alleged that the commissioner of police in Cross River state has frustrated plans to arrest the powerful men behind his assassination attempt last year. The lecturer identified as Joseph Odok who is well known for criticizing the Cross River state government - was almost killed after he was attacked by some unknown hoodlums in Calabar.

The lecturer has shared an update on this issue. Below is what he shared on his social media page this morning.

A Magistrate Court in Abuja division has Granted Warrants of Arrest for the arrest of Chief of staff CRS Mr. Martin Orim, Attorney General of CRS Barr. Joe Abang, Prof Zana Akpagu the Vice Chancellor University of Calabar and Mr. Chris Abang

The arrest warrant was granted after the accused persons refused to respond or reply letters of invitations extended to them seeking their explanation on their level of involvement in an attempted murder on me that took place on the 4th of September 2017. The police followed the invitation letters to the suspect with another letter written to the governor of Cross River State Senator Ben Ayade to release his accused aides but the governor refused to act nor reply the police. On the basis of the above facts, the police approached the court and obtained an arrest warrant for the arrest of the suspect

Three police men were mobilized on Wednesday the 6th of June 2018 on the authority of the Deputy Inspector General of police Criminal Investigations and intelligence Unit Force Headquarters Area 10, Garki Abuja to execute the warrant of arrest.

The police on reaching Calabar endorsed the arrest warrant in a magistrate court in Calabar Division and proceeded to the Commissioner of Police CRS to report and seek his assistance. According to report, the CP Cross River State refused their demand for additional police men to assist the police execute the arrest warrant. The CP CRS is said to have told the police to go do their best to execute the arrest .

The police from Abuja are said to have began personal efforts to execute the arrest warrant before they were said to have been called by the CP Cross River State and warned not to cause break down of law and order in the state. The police who have rounded up the Chief of Staff CRS Mr. Martin Orim were said to have been summoned by CP and after Mr. Martin Orim was said to have given a statement, the CP is said to have asked for bail for the Chief of Staff with a promise to bring the suspect to Abuja when the governor resumes from his vacation.

In a telephone conversation with the Commissioner of Police CRS, the CP claimed to have given full support to the team from Abuja and claimed that the Abuja team may have been compromised

On reaching out to the team from Abuja, I was categorically told that the CP CRS made every effort to frustrate them. I was told by the team that the normal police practice would have been for the CP to dispatch a team of men who know the suspects and the terrain to execute the arrest warrant. The team from Abuja further alleged that their life was threatened and they are in hiding to sneak out of Calabar today because of security report from one police officer who whispered to them that some agents of CRS government were after their life.

It is sad that even with a warrant of Arrest duly issued by a court of competent jurisdiction to known aides of the Cross River State Government and the Vice Chancellor University of Calabar, the police could not execute the warrant of arrest.

A man has raised an alarm following the unhygienic condition where slaughtered and smoked goats are washed in Lagos. According to Twitter user Adebayo Dawodu, the goats are washed in a filthy water around Oke-Ira, Ado road where residents defecate - with faeces floating in same water as he urged Lagosians to be careful where they buy their goat meat from or eat around the area.

Super Eagles assistant captain, Ogenyi Onazi has dismissed reports he and the national team captain, John Mikel Obi are having a rift in camp ahead of the Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup.

It was claimed that both stars are no longer on talking terms due to a fight for leadership and it's distracting other players in camp.

Speaking with Complete Sports Nigeria in a chat, Onazi denied having any rift with Mikel.

The Senate Leader, Ahmad Lawan says President Muhammadu Buhari is not a man, but a phenomenon.

Sen. Lawan, while hosting members of the North East Youth Coalition for President Buhari (NEYCPB) in his office, said Buhari is a phenomenon because his persona is now a movement and not a single personality.

He stated that Buhari didn’t come into government for personal enrichment, thereby urging Nigerians to join him to help solve problems facing Nigeria.

Lawan said, “Buhari is a phenomenon; it’s a movement. What I mean here, let me not be misquoted. When I said Buhari is not a man, Buhari is an attitude to life, what is that attitude? Integrity and commitment.

“He came into politics not to make money. It is our duty as citizens not to allow the president to do it alone. No matter how you are, how equipped you are, when it comes to leadership and administration, especially of a country that is as complex Nigeria, you need every hand to be on deck.

“That is what we are trying to do; that is what the coalition is seeking to do. When the president came in 2015, the first actions he took were necessary to rescue and secure the North East.

“The North East has been rescued. Insurgency, once it starts, it doesn’t stop like when rain starts and stops.

“You will always find from time to time some signs that they are still there. But the signs have been reduced to suicide bombing of soft targets, not declaring a caliphate with headquarters in Bama or anywhere else. We really owe gratitude to our president,” he said.

The two chambers of the National Assembly will be locked in a joint closed-door session to discuss and deliberate over the Political tension in the country.

This is an outcome of a separate meeting held on Monday by some members of the national assembly to discuss the best way to address “the assault” on its members by the executive.

In a meeting that stretched all through the night, some senators proposed that an impeachment move should be commenced against President Muhammadu Buhari.

An insider at the meeting said national assembly leaders in attendance were “very jittery” over the impeachment threat as recent events in the polity “have instilled fear in them”.

As many as 25 APC senators who were planning to defect to PDP are no longer confident to do so after the series of police actions against their colleagues.

Dino Melaye and Shehu Sani have been guests of the police recently after being accused of criminal offences, while Senate President Bukola Saraki has been linked with the Offa bank heist of April 5 by the police.

Ike Ekweremadu, the deputy senate president, is due to face charges of violating the code of conduct law by allegedly failing to declare his assets outside Nigeria.

Meanwhile, the PDP has also accused the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of charging a number of its members to court which it described as politically motivated.

IMPEACHMENT OPTION

“When we mooted the idea of impeaching Buhari at the meeting, you could see that our leaders were not comfortable. They are clearly shaken by the robbery charge against Saraki,” a senator told TheCable.

Melaye was the most vocal of the lawmakers in attendance.

He teased the “jittery” senators, telling them Buhari would soon come after them whether or not they defected from APC.

“Dino told Ekweremadu (PDP) that he was wasting his time thinking Buhari would pipe down. He also accused Senator Godswill Akpabio (PDP) of spending money like water to prevent his arrest as if that would solve his problem,” another senator told TheCable.

Some were of the opinion that the best time for the APC senators to defect is now, insisting that public sympathy was with the opposition with the “persecution of those perceived to be politically opposed to Buhari”.

It was then resolved that a joint executive session would be held on Tuesday to agree on an appropriate response.

The session will be closed to the public including the media.

Before I started moving with Nigerians, I used to think all men are the same, but as I made friends with Nigerians, I noticed all men aren't. It was very obvious in fact. The may Nigerian men talk and act to ladies is absolutely remarkable.

At first I thought they behave that way just to woo ladies. Turns out I was wrong again. Over the years, I've come to notice how 9ja men treat ladies in their life(Mother, Sister, Wife/Girlfriend, daughter) with absolute respect I began to envy

Maybe all what I see on their movies are true after all. I can't watch from outside no more, so I started a relationship with a Nigerian, how different things became, it was like magic, saint like behavior. I couldn't believe my eyes, I was alert cos he may be working an angle

He could be playing games, but again I was wrong. After listening to conversations and gossips, I noticed that for them, it's a shame for a man to mistreat his lady. A 9ja man will say " give my woman the same respect you give me" honestly he doesn't get better

A typical 9ja man makes his lady presentable because he believes that how his peer will respect him as a man. Romantic stuff!!, he'll take care of his house and even if there's problem inside, outsiders will never notice.��

To a typical 9ja man it's a shame to hit a lady, he'll just walk away or ignore you, I know cos I'm rude and have a quick mouth. Things you'll get a typical Bukom beating for saying to a Ghana boy, a 9ja man will just walk away
