Reacting to the allegation by a group that the Congress for Progress Change {CPC} lost the presidential election in the South East, fair and square, Mr Osita Okechukwu governorship candidate of CPC Enugu State said, ‘Forensic Test anchored on Biometric Technology, will expose the jumbo allocation of votes to the Peoples Democratic Party {PDP} in the South East and South South; characterized by monumental ballot stuffing.
We are assembling our evidence and will expose to the world the Hitech-Rigging which polluted the presidential election. We are not crying wolf, where there is none. We are not bad losers.’
On the assertion that intra-party crisis rocked the CPC’s electoral fortune in the South East, Mr Okechukwu said, ‘no major political party is free from intra-party crisis, I do not think that CPC’s fractionalization is worse than that of the PDP? I stand to be corrected, so no hatchet or settled group should use intra-party crisis as an excuse. Let them go in peace with their loot; but they cannot stop us from presenting our evidence in the Presidential Tribunal.’
Going further Okechukwu said, ‘ We maintain that the low turnout at the presidential election, especially in the South East, hovered between 30% and 35% and therefore the result posted is untenable and outrageous’. ‘No electorate throughout history rewards a political party which failed to provide common infrastructure like electricity; it will be inconceivable that Nigerian electorate rewarded PDP for decade stretch of failed promises’.
On Forensic Test and Biometric Technology we depend to prove our case; not on propaganda. Osita Okechukwu CPC Governorship Candidate Enugu State. http://www.saharareporters.com/news-page/forensic-test-will-expose-south-east-and-south-south-rigging |

gadogado: Well if we want to pick on things, Nollywood existed prior to OBJ, get it straight! During Abacha, the economy was stable, the naira never devalued meaning inflation was under control, he created the PTF that provided a lot of infrastructure to the nation etc etc. Did Obj not sink $16 billion into power that is still unaccounted for?? First of all, the south south doesn't own the PDP, the PDP floats on the north, it was a northern party at its inception, IBB funded it. The elite in the north and south are the best of friends! Whats worrying you is "new-elevation syndrome" you have never produced a president, now that you have (SS) you feel that the world belongs to you and you can pick and choose who to give power to etc. My friend, nothing works like that, GEJ would not be there is he didnt have the backing of the northern elite. The backlash in the north was targeted against the northern elite including emirs who saw their palaces and houses burned to the ground!!
The north is saying enough of the oppression, while the south is being hood winked and deceived into believing that the north have killed only southerners and its a religious affair. HA!! whos zooming who. With claims of superior education, you still fall for the cheapest propaganda and cannot for the life of you see the emperor behind the veil. to prevent you from understanding what the average northerners did in the riots, fighting oppression, you were fed tainted stories and complete hogwash. you fell, you chopped it!! No electricity for you for the next 4 yrs. its a PDP thing not a GEJ thing, he's part and parcel and furthermore, a mere figurehead in the PDP, he's controlled by OBJ who in turn does nothing without consulting some very powerful people in the north, people you've never heard of but the kind of people you'll see the likes of atiku sitting on the floors (not chairs) of their living rooms. Keep deceiving yourself. THE NORTH FOUGHT AGAINST RIGGING. Let some these fools on NairaLand continue deciving themselves. They need to read and re read the bolded. The Northern elites do not like Buhari they prefer GEJ to him becuase they know unlike thmeselves he is NOT CORRUPT. Anyway you olodo's on NairaLand keep calling for division, GEJ provide power, GEJ provide security, national confrence etc etc. See if your calls dont fall on deaf ears these 4 years Allah taimake mu. Akainzo: Based on what I know about this elections, and what I have now come to light, I cannot honestly say if GEJ would have won on the 1st ballot. Note here, GEJ could possibly have won at the end of the day, but he definitely would not have won on the 1st ballot.
One assumption that has been made about the presidential election in the North is that CPC was rigging. Allow me to ask one very salient question: Are we saying that CPC would have the ability to rig an election in a PDP controlled state? Or that the PDP Governor of a state would deploy the state resources to rig for the opposition party?
CPC might have supporters in the North but it definitely does not have the machinery to rig elections in the North. The party with the machinery to rig in the North is PDP and they clearly have used it very well and subtly. They need not rig the elections to win it for PDP, they simply ensured that GEJ had the required 25% of the votes in their respective states. That is the rigging that PDP did in the North.
For the SS and SE, it was simply ballot result stuffing. Yes the turnout was massive, but it was no way as near the 90% being recorded by the results sheet. Many of those votes were allocations or multiple voting/ballot stuffing.
To me, if we because we wanted GEJ to win accept this fraud, remember, in 4 years time, PDP would still use the same machinery to rig. We cried foul in 2003 but as we wanted OBJ we said continue, we saw a worldwide acknowledged rigging in 2007, but because we wanted peace, we accepted it. Now in 2011, the same PDP is rigging and because our man is declared the winner, we want all to shut up. Hmmm, 2015 is not too far away and the same party would be waiting. Leave them. let them be blinded. Let Naija continue to stagnate. 2015 = rig rig again |

ndu_chucks: story story. One day we will find the courage to tell our leaders that rigging is no longer acceptable. Until then, you deserve what you get.
I honestly don't give a damn whether Buhari is disqualified for rigging or not. The point is, you people do not see anything wrong with the masive rigging as long as it favoured your candidate. This is the saddest part of the issue.
If I were you, I wouldn't be so quick to assume that most of the underaged votes were for Buhari . Many of them were responsible for GEJ's showing in Sokoto and elsewhere in the North.
@edoyad, I thought you were brighter than this. Everyone knows where the weakest link lies - the collating centers. Excatly they say "So what GEJ rigged Buhari rigged with underage voters". What kid of a lame excuse of a so called "free + fair" elections is this? Investigate both cases so we find out the truth of what happened. If you are so sure of GEJ openess let us see 22 million diff fingerprints on the papers. Do the same for CPC. |

ndu_chucks: This is mere conjecture and unfounded speculation which misses the point of the protests completely. The point is not whether GEJ should have won but that the rigging should have got his candidacy disqualified. This writer also assumes that the violence and killings were orchestrated by CPC, an unfortunate and disappointing stance.
We all condemn the violence, but we must not allow the action of irresponsible few put us in a position to continue to accept the rigging machine of PDP without protesting, preferably peacefully.
I'd be glad to read the author's article next week after PDP rigs Ogun Oyo, and Lagos. Based on the author's logic, we should just roll over and let it be, because violence is bad. olodo Its as simple as the bolded. No one gives a Zap about "he would have won anyway". Politics › Re: Bakare: Why We Rejected Result Of Presidential Poll by Nadanbata(op): 10:02am On Apr 24, 2011 |
Bakare who addressed a press conference in Ikeja, said there are three stages in an election and that the first and second stages which are the voting and counting stages were visibly free, but that the last critical stage, which is the collation was coloured and therefore fraudulent. He identified the 11 states that produced the controversial results as those solely making up the south-east and south-south geo-political zones of the country. They are Abia, Imo, Ebonyi, Enugu and Anambra in the South-east while Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Cross River, Delta, Edo and Bayelsa are in the South-south.
He said the press conference was a follow up to CPC’s letter of objection dated April 16 wherein it rejected the election results on the basis that “it was unfair and unjust as it was a subversion of the popular will of the electorate.” He said compiled complaints from agents of CPC in Abuja, Rivers, Cross River, Enugu, Bayelsa, Nasarawa, Gombe, Bauchi, Jigawa, Taraba, Kaduna, Akwa Ibom and Delta States, were a pointer to CPC’s submission that the presidential election was massively flawed. While giving an assessment of the figures produced by the Independent National Electoral Comm-ission, Bakare explained that “the national average turnout was about 52 percent and about 46 percent respectively when the substantially above average turnout rate in the south-south and south-east zones are excluded. According to him, “the average turnout rate in the south-south and south-east zones (without Ebonyi and Edo States) at 78 percent is 50 percent above the national average of about 52 percent.”
He queried how Dr. Goodluck Jonathan of the PDP got over 85 percent share of the valid votes cast in all the 11 states in the south-south and south-east zones with 10 of the said states at 95 percent and above, including four of the states at 99 percent and one at a near perfect 99.6 percent in his home state. “Thus, all the 11 states in the two zones showed a red flag for being above the national average turnout rate and/or were above the 85 percent threshold,” he said, wondering if figures of 95 percent and above for one party suggested that they were fabricated, more so that 10 states are affected. The CPC vice presidential candidate said neither Buhari nor any other candidate of the opposition party had a state with an average turnout rate above the national average and share of valid votes in excess of 85 percent. He therefore wondered how the president recorded such high scores in not just one or three states but nine.
“The inevitable reasonable conclusion from the incontrovertible facts is that no credible elections took place in the south-south and south-east zones and that those returns were basically concocted through fraudulent thumb printing and stuffing of ballot papers and/or that the results were deliberately falsified in favour of Dr. Goodluck Jonathan of the PDP,” Bakare said. Taking Rivers State as one example, Bakare said, “The average turnout in the declared result for the state metamorphosed into well over 76 percent of registered voters,” adding that the total number of registered voters in a particular ward at 6,031 later transformed into 377,517 total valid votes. “This could well have been an error; but yet again, the ultimate beneficiary is Dr. Goodluck Jonathan of the PDP as he was awarded about 710,000 (98percent) votes of the total valid votes of 725,884. “Does this make for a credible election?” he queried.
Bakare who was not oblivious of the need for the CPC to prove its case beyond reasonable doubt, noted that after the party’s sensitive analysis and fabricated figures taken out of the total result, General Muhammadu Buhari, presidential candidate of the CPC had the majority of votes, a situation he said precludes Jonathan from being declared winner of the election. However, in CPC’s final breakdown of the figures, Bakare said that the spurious votes cast in south-east and south-south for the PDP were 11,103,854 and 70,313 for the CPC. Thus, when these are deducted from the 22,495,187 of the PDP and 12,214,853 of the CPC respectively, the figures would come down to 11,391,333 for the PDP and 12,144,540 for the CPC, the interpretation of which he said is that Buhari won the election.
He implored INEC to, as a matter of urgency, take custody of the election materials and make the ballot papers in support of the votes cast in the two zones available for a representative sample of the thumb prints to be matched with the biometrics-based voter register by forensic experts. While suggesting that similar steps can be taken in the north-west and north-east for balancing, he said a sample of the result sheets at the ward and local government collation centres should be examined by independent third party accountants. “If the ballot papers and/or figures are found to have been substantially manipulated, the commission should be bold enough to reverse its position on the declared result if only in the interest of peace and greater public good,” he stated. http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/cpc-to-contest-presidential-poll-results-in-11-states/90198/ |

Politics › Re: Almajiris - Nigeria's Ticking Time Bomb by Nadanbata: 7:58am On Apr 24, 2011 |
rhymz: At Poster, I posted that lengthy article about the insidious growing problem of Almajiris in the north- it goes beyond the the rhetorics of the elections-these almajiris a are product of a systematic brainwashing of millions of childrien in the north. For those of us that may find the very educative article cumbersome and lengthy to read, here is a summary of that article; 1. The almajiris are students of a Koranic education system called Tsangaya. The only education these students learn is how to read, memorize the quaran, write it and recite it by heart. There is no time limit for graduation, as it takes a minimun of at least 20yrs to learn the whole of the koran. These childrien learn no form of western education. 2. The parents of these almajiris are extremely poor and uneducated, sending them to these tsangaya school system is their only way of relieving themselves of any responsibility towards their childrien. Many of the almajiris rarely see their parents for years after being enroled into those tsangaya schools. 3. The conditions in which these almajiri pupils live is an extremely dehumanizing one, no proper shelter, nutrition or even love from anyone, not even from their malams. These kids at a very tender age are left to fend for themselves on the street if they must eat. Even their own malams exploit them by using them to attain all sorts of financial advantages. 4. There is no proper data or any serious plan by the government especially the state government to integrate these school system into the mainstream education system, hence the lack of regulations and any serious plans to curtail the very serious problems that these schools potend to Nigeria as a whole. There has not been any sincerity to plan for the over 11million Almajiris in almost a hundred thousand of these tsangaya schools scattered all over the nothern part of Nigeria-as it has become a pool of political thugs recruits for both politicians and religious fundamentalist, radicals and extremist. Politicians now influency the greedy malams who are supposed to be their guardians to brainwash these childrien and feed them with extreme politico-religious views. In conclusion: 1. I think it is important for us to look at the problem from the root cause as opposed to the visible results as we have been experiencing. This suggests that in the north, an average northern youth with a reasonable amount of care and attention is just like any other average nigerian in the south-be you muslim or christian-most of the time, the people involved in the wanton destruction of life and properties in the north are the almajiris(a majority of whom knows nothing about love, affection, care or the sanctity of human lives. A majority of them are heaving with hatred for a society that has enslaved them and shown them nothing but harsh realities of poverty and people exploiting them). Until there is a sincerity of purpose on the part of the government, to set rules and regulations on how the over 11million almajiri students and over a hundred tsangaya schools scattered all over the northern part of Nigeria must be run. Stopped reading after that. lols |
Politics › Bakare: Why We Rejected Result Of Presidential Poll by Nadanbata(op): 7:46am On Apr 24, 2011 |
Vice Presidential candidate of the Congress for Progressive Change(CPC), Pastor Tunde Bakare, yesterday explained the party rejected declaration of President Goodluck Jonathan as winner of April 16 presidential election because it was marred by ‘’massive irregularities and blatant fraud’’.
Bakare said votes declared for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from the South South and South East were not only inflated but also fabricated.
He argued that though the election appeared free on the surface, there was abounding evidence to prove it was manipulated behind the scene in favour of Jonathan.
Bakare broke his silence yesterday to reporters in Lagos since the results were announced.
He said: ‘’In polling units where election were held, they were seemingly free, fair and credible But behind the scene, there were loads of massive fraudulent thump-printing and blatant manipulation of figures at the ward and local government centres.
‘’The façade at the polling units must be unmasked for this election to be seen as the sham that it truly was’’.
He tasked INEC to subject ballot papers in supports of votes from the South South and South East to forensic scrutiny and investigation by ‘’independent third party accountants’’.
Bakare also questioned the integrity of INEC’s chair, Professor Attahiru Jega, saying his conduct of the election leaves much to desire.
Jega, he said, lied to the nation that ballot papers were printed outside the country whereas the commission gave the contract to local firms.
Bakare said: ‘’He (Jega) is a clean man wearing white apparel that is thrown into deep dirt by the system. The whole rigging structure that worked for Iwu is still in INEC.
‘’Until it is overhauled, Jega cannot be credible. If he is a man of honour, time will tell.
‘’I would have wanted him to tell the nation that the pre-programming of the commission’s system reduced CPC votes by 40% but he said they detected the error whereas our agent did. That is a lie’’. http://www.thenationonlineng.net/2011/index.php/news/3931-bakare-why-we-rejected-result-of-presidential-poll.html |
