A Bauchi Man Identified as Yakubu Adamu of Kumbi village in Kirfi Local Government is in police custody after stabbing his younger brother, Yayaji Abubakar, to death in order to inherit his motorcycle.

The State Police Command made this known in a statement by its spokesperson, Superintendent Ahmed Wakil, on Friday.

According to Wakil, the suspect confessed to committing the offence and further revealed that he started stealing motorcycles in 2020.

The Police said: “On October 13, at about 7:30 p.m., one Usman Mohammad, 38, of Gorondo Village via Alkaleri council, Bauchi State, reported a case at the Divisional Headquarters, Kirfi.

“He said on the same date at about 3:40 p.m., one Yakubu Adamu, 25, of Kumbi village via Alkaleri council, armed with a shape knife attacked his younger brother, Yayaji Abubakar, 25, of the same address.

“He robbed him of his red Bajaj motorcycle with registration number; 526-OG the value of which is yet to be ascertained.

“The suspect used a knife to stab him several times, as a result, he sustained serious injuries on his stomach and hands.

“On receipt of the report, a team of detectives swiftly swung into action and moved the victim to General Hospital Alkaleri where he was certified dead by a medical doctor.

“Meanwhile, the perpetrator has been arrested. He is responding to police interrogations.

“During interrogation, the defendant confessed to having committed the offense and further revealed that he started the act of stealing a motorcycle in the year 2020 when he criminally conspired with one Auwalu of the same address and stole a red Bajaj motorcycle.

“He sold it at N70,000 and they shared the proceeds of crime among themselves. An investigation is still ongoing, after which the suspect will be charged to court,” he said.

Relatedly, the Police said that in a joint operation with JTF and local hunters drafted to Tilden Fulani Division,Toro local government area, they acted on intelligence and raided two identified suspected kidnappers’ enclaves in both Angwari and Saya mountains.

A Final Year Student Of Petroleum Training Institute, Effurun, Delta State has been electrocuted while installing solar panels on a one-storey building.

PUNCH Metro gathered that the gory incident occurred in a business location close to a commercial bank at the Warri Garage Area on Thursday, October 19, 2023.

Witnesses told journalists that the aluminium ladder used by the student in climbing up to the position he intended to install the solar panels was magnetised by the high-tension wires linking a neighbouring commercial bank.

Consequently, he reportedly got electrocuted in the process, witnesses said.

It was further gathered that a gallant passerby, on noticing the ugly development, instantly used a long dry plank to hit the aluminium ladder thus successfully detaching it from the vibrating high-tension wires, to which the young man had stuck unconsciously.

The final-year PTI student who was said to be writing his final project at the time of the incident was immediately rushed to a nearby private clinic for treatment.

He reportedly gave up the ghost shortly on arrival at the private clinic.

Meanwhile, the remains of the late student who resided with his parents at the nearby Bowen Avenue area have been reportedly laid to rest in his country home in one of the South-East states on Saturday, October 28, 2023.

A yet-to-be-identified man has died under mysterious circumstances in the Ojodu Berger area of Lagos State.

It was gathered the corpse of the man whose identity remains unknown, was found in the early morning of Tuesday, October 31, at a truck garage in the Berger area of Lagos.

PUNCH Metro gathered from an eyewitness, who gave his name as Wahab, who saw the corpse of the yet-to-be-identified dead man found standing and leaning on the wall of the garage on Tuesday morning when some of the truck drivers came to pick up their trucks.

PUNCH Metro also learned that there were no bruises or signs of physical violence on the body of the deceased who was only wearing black shorts.

He said, “When we got to the truck garage on Tuesday morning, around 8:30 am, we saw a young man; he was just wearing some dirty black shorts, standing and resting his head on the wall of the school where people park their trucks, thinking that he was still sleeping.

“He looked rough and unkempt. Someone went to tap him so that he could wake up and leave the place but when he touched him, the man didn’t move. Tapped him again, but he didn’t move.

“It was on observing him closely that we found out that the guy had died while standing. He didn’t even look like someone who had died.

“Immediately, someone went to the police station in Ojodu to report. Then, the police came and took his body away.”

When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed the incident.

He said, “The corpse was evacuated and deposited at the Mainland Hospital mortuary Yaba for an autopsy while efforts are made to identify who he was.”
