The Lagos State Police Command has arrested five suspects in connection with the abduction and trafficking of a new-born child, following an extensive investigation led by the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID. The case was reported on May 5, 2025, at the Ajah Police Division by a man who raised concerns over the sudden disappearance of his 16-year-old cousin, Miss Happiness, who was pregnant at the time by an unidentified individual. Financial hardship had led the complainant’s mother to temporarily place the girl in the care of one Nonye Osi. However, rather than offer support, Osi allegedly conspired with accomplices to relocate the minor to an undisclosed location. When she was later found, both the baby and the pregnancy were missing, prompting the transfer of the case to the SCID for a more thorough investigation. Detectives soon uncovered that the infant had been sold for N3 million. The arrested suspects include: Nonye Osi, Akintan Adedayo, Jimoh Bashiru, Elizabeth Bishop, Bukola Oladapo. Police operatives were able to trace and recover the two-week-old baby from Agemuwo in the Badagry area. The child was rescued in stable condition and is currently receiving care from the Gender/Anti-Human Trafficking Unit ahead of his planned reunion with his biological mother. The Lagos State Police Command asserted its commitment to safeguarding all residents and assured the public that efforts are ongoing to ensure all those involved in the crime are brought to justice. Crime › 20-Year-Old Man Remanded In Adamawa For Killing His Friend Over Illicit Drugs by NaijaCover(op): 7:08am On May 06, 2025 |
A 20-Year-Old Man in Adamawa State, Abdullahi Bawa, has been remanded in prison custody for allegedly stabbing his friend to death during a dispute over illicit drug.
Bawa, said to be a hard drug dealer in Ngurore, a residential community in Yola South Local Government Area, was arraigned before the Chief Magistrate Court II in Yola which ordered his remand.
This was after his arraignment by the Adamawa State Police Command, which told the court that Bawa fatally stabbed his friend, Baba Ali, in the chest with a pair of scissors during a quarrel over Diazepam, a controlled substance labelled as hard drug because of the way it is misused.
The Police prosecutor in the case, Inspector Nanugi Tayeri, told the court that the incident occurred on April 25, 2025.
In his First Information Report, FIR, the prosecutor stated that the defendant is a habitual offender and had committed offences classified under ‘causing grievous hurt’ and ‘culpable homicide.’
The alleged crimes, he added, are violations of sections 218 and 191 of the Penal Code Law of Adamawa State. Source: https://dailypost.ng/2025/05/05/young-man-remanded-in-adamawa-for-allegedly-killing-friend-over-illicit-drugs/

A statement by the spokesperson of the command, Benjamin Hundeyin, on Sunday, disclosed that Iliyasu was apprehended by detectives from the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba, after being tracked to Ankpa, Kogi State.
According to the police, the suspect had “forcibly gained access to the victim’s premises and fled with her Toyota Sienna vehicle.”

Crime › Woman Arrested For Stabbing Boyfriend To Death In Lagos by NaijaCover(op): 7:12am On May 05, 2025 |
The Lagos State Police Command has apprehended 21-Year-Old Precious Anegbode for allegedly stabbing to death one Damilola, said to be her boyfriend, in the Ijegun area of Lagos.
It was gathered that the suspect, last Friday, visited the home of the deceased where a fierce argument ensued.
The argument was said to have degenerated into an altercation.
A resident who spoke with our correspondent on Sunday, on the condition of anonymity, said neighbours heard a sustained noisy argument between the two after which Anegbode reached for a knife and stabbed Damilola in the process.
“We don’t know what led to the quarrel between both of them. We only heard them shouting and the next thing we heard the lady was wailing. When we got to their room, we saw the lifeless body of her boyfriend on the floor,” the source disclosed.
Another resident, who also preferred anonymity, said the neighbours of the deceased immediately took the deceased to the hospital, where he was confirmed dead.
“Some of the neighbours took the corpse to the hospital while others prevented the lady from running away. When they got to the hospital, the doctors on duty confirmed him dead. Then we later went to the police station to report the incident, and returned with some officers who came to take the lady away,” the resident added.
When contacted, the command spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident.
According to him, the incident was reported to the police the same day at about 11:30 am.
He said, “The victim was rushed to Igando General Hospital, where he was confirmed dead on arrival. The nearest police station, Igando Division, was contacted, and the suspect was arrested.
“Further investigation revealed that the incident occurred in another area of responsibility, and the case was referred to Isheri Oshun. Patrol and DCB teams were mobilised, and the suspect was detained at the Igando Division. The victim’s corpse was deposited at the Igando General Hospital mortuary.”
He added, “Photographs were taken, and the scene of the incident was visited. The knife used in the stabbing was recovered, and blood stains at the scene were documented. The suspect made confessional statements under caution. The case file and suspect exhibit will soon be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, Yaba, Lagos, for discreet investigation.” Source: https://punchng.com/woman-arrested-for-stabbing-boyfriend-to-death-in-lagos/
