Travel › Re: My International Passport Renewal Experience – How Long Did Yours Take? by NaijaCover(m): 11:53am On Feb 13, 2025 |
Spark2: Two weeks ago, I attempted to renew my international passport using the Nigeria Immigration Service's DIY (self-service) platform. Unfortunately, the system couldn't capture my passport photograph for some reason.
A few days later, I decided to visit the immigration office in Jos to complete the process in person. To my surprise, I was told that the 32-page, 5-year passport would cost ₦75,000, even though I was aware that the official fee online is ₦50,000.
Frustrated, I returned home. Fortunately, I later managed to successfully upload my passport photograph on the DIY platform, and the system processed my application. I paid ₦50,500 online and was scheduled for biometric capture on February 3rd.
On the scheduled date, I went to the immigration office, where I was attended to promptly. However, I was asked to pay an additional ₦3,000 for processing, which I did.
To my surprise, I received a call today, February 12th, to pick up my new passport—just 9 days after my capture!
I've heard many people say it took them months to get their renewed passports. So, I'm curious—how long did it take for you to get yours? Share your experience! In Two Weeks Time, My Brother. |

Crime › Fresh Graduate Shot Dead By Gunmen In Abia by NaijaCover(op): 8:13am On Feb 13, 2025 |
A fresh graduate of Petrochemical Engineering from Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, Mr Precious Chidozie James has been shot dead by hooded gunmen.
He was murdered near his family compound in Owaza, Ukwa West LGA of Abia State.
Chidozie James, who was preparing to go for mandatory National Youth Services Corps, NYSC, was killed on Wednesday, February 5, 2025 at about 2:15 am after accompanying his elder brother, Enyeribe James, the head of Ukwa East/Ukwa West anti-bunkering task force of Independent Petroleum Marketers of Nigeria (IPMAN) on a night patrol in the area.
According to a community source, tragedy struck as Chidozie, who was driving a Tundra truck and his elder brother were ambushed and attacked by the gunmen who emerged from the bush, shooting at the occupants of the two vehicles and killing Chidozie in the process, while his elder brother, James managed to escape into the bush.
The corpse of the victim was evacuated at about 9:35 am the same day by men of the Obehie Police station under the leadership of DSP Ibrahim.
No group has claimed responsibility for the killing of the fresh graduate, even as the family of the victim are begging the concerned government agencies for justice.
Reacting to the ugly development, the Mayor of Ukwa West LGA, Dike Nwankwo described the killing of the young man as unacceptable, pointing out that initial reports from the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ukwa Division, confirmed that they have no clue yet of the assailants.
The Mayor, who spoke through his Chief Press Secretary, Johnson Ihunanya Nwosu, said. ‘”the reckless and deliberate targeting of innocent citizens under any guise is a direct threat to public order, and we will deploy all available mechanisms to ensure that the full force of the law is applied without delay.”
The Ukwa West LGA Mayor directed the intensification of security operations across Ukwa West, with a zero-tolerance stance against organized criminal networks, hired assassins, and any element attempting to destabilize the communities.
He added that he was working with the Police, Department of State Services and other security agencies to unravel the killers. Source: https://dailypost.ng/2025/02/13/council-boss-vows-justice-as-gunmen-murder-fresh-graduate-in-abia/
