Romance / Re: Ladies, Your Man Slapped You During Courtship: Will You Go On? by nairabetguru(m): 10:03am On Apr 10, 2015
dearpreye:
That's the present dilemma my female friend has found herself. She just couldn't believe her fiancee, whom she loves so much, could lay his hands on her. Unfortunately, it's happened!

Immediately I got a call from her last weekend, I could feel some pain in her voice. We met in a popular eatery, with tears in her eyes, she let out her disappointment and frustration. They've been courting over 4 months- having been mere friends over 5 years.

They had an argument. It got heated up. Words were spilled from both ends, and a slap from the guy brought her back to realityr she had just received a slap from the man she might end up getting married to. I tried to calm her down. Both of them are my friends!

Women can really weep, especially when someone whom they deeply love treats them poorly; they have containers of tears behind those two sockets at their foreheads! They are a very emotional and sensitive people; too precious and tender!

She sought my advice. I simply ask her if that was the first. She reluctantly said NO; the guy has slapped her twice before this recent one. I didn't want to be responsible for the breakup of an intending couple. And I don't also believe that, even in the face of verifiable, unbearable character defects, one should jump into a marriage with the hope of changing their spouses...you may just have inherited a prayer and fasting ministry! !!!

I advised her to look at the matter with her head, not heart. But trust, emotions are usually stronger than knowledge!

She called me yesterday, and told me she was going ahead with the courtship. It's her call. But i didn't fail to warn her that she could be receiving hotter slaps in the years ahead. Kicks could even follow!

If you were in her shoes, as a lady, what would have been your decision?

Was my advice a wrong one?

ur bf see mosquito for ur cheek, he cum help u kill am and u call dat slap undecided

Celebrities / Re: Meet The 5 Female Nigerian Celebrities Who Are Still Virgins (photos) by nairabetguru(m): 4:43pm On Apr 08, 2015
1. CHIDINMA EKILEWO

Ms. Chidinma Ekilewho is popular for her first name is one singer who has captured the hearts of many from her Project Fame days and going on to sing ‘Kedike’ which instantaneously made her a household name in the Nigerian entertainment industry.

During an interview she declared she has never been intimate with a man before.

The Female Singer had reacted to her alleged compromising video scandal in 2013 by maintaining that it wasn’t her that people saw in the video that went viral and as a matter of fact, that she’s still a virgin.

“I didn’t make any compromising video o, I have no idea where that tape is from and I am still a v*rgin o!” she said

2. TOLU ONIRU (TOOLZ)
Tolu Onirupopularly known as “Toolz” is a Nigerian media personality and OAP who in fact is described as one of the most voluptuous hips which has been the centre of arguments amongst her several fans.

The OAP once revealed she’s never been intimate with a man before while answering questions via her Twitter page. She also confessed that one of her hips is artificial.

3. ADOKIYE
Nigerian pop singer Adokiye in a recent interview spoke about not being in a relationship and when asked about getting intimate with the opposite gender said: “Haba, what is a young girl getting laid for, I’m still a virgin”.

She also caused a social media storm by offering her virginity to Islamic militants Boko Haram in exchange for the return of hundreds of kidknapped schoolgirls.

However, the 23-year-old musician and actress from Imo State, who is also a UN Ambassador of Peace, took the protest to the next extreme.

“It is just unfair. They are too young. I wish I could offer myself in exchange,”she told Nigerian publication Vanguard.

“They are between 12 and 15 year old girls for Christ sake. I am older and more experienced. Even if 10 to 12 men have to take me every night, I don’t care. Just release these girls and let them go back to their parents.”

4. SEYI HUNTER
When Afro-pop singer,Adokiye declared she was a virgin in a chat with Vanguard’s Potpourri recently, many thought she could possibly be the last of the virgins in the Nigerian entertainment industry.

But it seems there are others, at least one other, as another entertainer,Seyi Hunter has come out to declare she is a virgin as well.

When asked in a Vanguard interview about Intimacy and money, which was more important to her in a relationship, the actress said:

I know nothing about intimacy, I’m a virgin. Money is more important to me in a relationship.

5. ANNABELLA ZWYNDILA
Upcoming actress and product of AMBO reality TV show – Adamawa State-born actress, Annabella Zwyndilawho is telling whoever cares to listen that her virginity is still intact despite massive harassment in the movie industry.

The Adamawa State-born actress even boasts that nothing would make her lose her virginity to another man except her husband.

Zwyndila revealed this in an interview she granted which was published by the Sun. The fast rising star who was recently nominated for ZAFAA Awards as Best Upcoming Actress, acknowledges the challenges are enormous, but there is no going back on her decision to remain a virgin.

Her words: “A role that is supposed to be yours is taken from you because of one or two requests that you can’t meet. So, harassment is not only in the movie industry. It is everywhere… That side of me is dead until I get married.

Aside avoiding pre-marital intimacy I am also a born again Christian and I fear God a lot. I can remember while we were growing up we had that lesson about s-xually transmitted diseases and the fear of all those things really kept me away from intimacy. So, if I must have a relationship we must enter into agreement of no intimacy.”

Politics / Symptoms Of A Poverty Mindset by nairabetguru(m): 1:09pm On Apr 08, 2015
In my last article ‘Success is 80 per cent psychology’; I stated the fact that “Poverty is a mindset, not the state of your wallet, bank account or finances” and used the ‘be – do – have’ model to illustrate. Based on feedback and request for further clarification, I will focus on the poverty mindset in this article.

I am not surprised at the questions as it took me a while to gain this understanding. For most of my adult years, I believed that poverty had to do with lack of money and the solution was of course more money. I came to realise that more money did not solve the problem. If I did not change my money management philosophy, I would end up trapped in the rat race, repeating what I saw people around me doing.

You are not broke because you don’t have money. You are broke because of the poor choices you made when money comes into your hands. The way you currently manage your finances is not the only way. There are other ways, and you have the power to choose.

We are creatures of habits

Each time money comes into your hands, you are presented with choices whether you are aware or not. The problem is that we do not stop to think before we spend. We spend on reflex, the way we wear our trousers for example. You don’t stop to think which leg should go in first. As a matter of fact if you are asked which leg of the trouser you wear first, you may be forced to think before you can answer. I could not answer the question myself. I had to go to my closet, pick a trouser and observe which leg went in first (the left leg). We do it without thinking. It boils down to one deadly thing called habits. It can be your greatest ally (if it moves you towards where you are going) or your worst enemy (if it sabotages your goals).

Most of the things we do are without thinking. Which leg first hits the ground when we wake up, our morning rituals and the sequence of activities (e.g. do you brush your teeth before taking your bath or the other way round?) Some of us take the same road to work every day. We think the same thoughts and do the same things – and get the same results. It is your mindset that produces actions that over time become habits.

Our empty or fat wallets are as a result of reflex actions we take when money gets into our hands. Nigeria is poor today because of the way we managed our income in the past. There are countries that made a fraction of our revenue and are much richer than us. Each time money gets into your hands, you are automatically at a polling booth. Whether you know it or not, you are voting for your financial future – either to remain poor, middle class or rich. Each vote adds up over time and the result shows up as your financial reality. Most people vote to remain poor, as poor is the incumbent government – what they are used to.

Habits are formed when we do things over and over again until it is hard wired into our brain – we don’t need to think about it again. We can do without thinking. Habits are not destiny. We can change them. It is not easy but it is doable. Mindsets give birth to the actions that form habits. If you don’t change what you are doing, you will keep getting what you are getting.

Symptoms of poverty mindset

The underlying thought pattern behind the poverty mindset is the lack mentality – the belief that wealth is limited and you need to grab what you can. You need to look out for yourself first or nobody will. This mindset drives us to focus on what we can get rather than what we can give or how to produce more with what we have. Consequently, rather than use our creativity to innovate or produce more, we focus on ourselves – our needs and desires. Unfortunately, you cannot become rich by focussing on yourself. If you don’t solve problems for people through products or services, nobody will give you money. The more people you serve, the more money you make.

So focussing on self is one symptom of the poverty mentality. This manifest in what has become popularly known as WIIFM. This is the most popular FM station worldwide and is where most people leave their dial. It stands ‘What’s In It For Me?’ The moment you find yourself in any situation, the first thing that comes to mind to is what you have to gain. What is your benefit? If you are looking for a job, WIIFM is primarily concerned with pay package and fringe benefits rather than bringing solutions. The WIIFM job seeker would rather spend donkey years looking for any job rather than focus on what service he can render to solve business problems. When a WIIFM starts a business, the focus is on income rather than value added. The central focus is I, Me, Myself.

Another symptom of poverty mindset is focus on consumption rather than production or investment. The moment money gets into your hands; your first thought that comes to mind is – spend. Spending takes a higher priority than saving. You spend first and save what is left. People with this mindset typically don’t save because the money is not enough for saving after spending. Essentially they are earning to spend.

Poverty mindset can manifest in short term thing. You want what you want and you want it now. You don’t think about the consequences of having it now. You don’t think five, 10, 20 years etc ahead. That is God’s job. Since you think short term, you often miss the consequences of your actions which show up in the medium to long term. Opportunity cost is not in your dictionary. When you decide to spend on a certain item, it does not occur to you that you starve another item of funds, items that may be more important than what you are spending on.

Lack of clear financial goals is a symptom of poverty mindset. You spend money aimlessly. There is no plan, sense of direction or destination, you are just doing what others are doing, others who are trying to do what you are doing.

Another symptom of poverty mentality is not taking responsibility for your situation, but rather blaming it on other people or circumstances. In other words, you are not in control of your affairs. Since it is not your fault, there is nothing you can do about it. You always have an excuse handy, and when you manage to decide to do something, you postpone it till tomorrow.

People with poverty mindset always flock together. They comfort themselves with their excuses, complaining, murmuring and playing the blame game, waiting for their luck to change.

Politics / If Jonathan Had Won by nairabetguru(m): 12:50pm On Apr 08, 2015
Some Nigerian amateur numerologists, who study numbers to project the future, say: In Nigeria’s Fourth Republic, Muhammadu Buhari has emerged fourth President, after his fourth attempt. That his political party emerged, in four phases, first as the Alliance for Democracy — powered by the Yoruba socio-cultural group, Afenifere, and some civil society groups — from whence the Action Congress was lopped off, expanded to the Action Congress of Nigeria, before merging with others to form the All Progressives Congress.

In the election of March 28, Buhari and President Goodluck Jonathan, each scored at least one-quarter of votes in 28 states. If you add each of Buhari’s 15,424,921 votes (1+5+4+2+4+9+2+1) and Jonathan’s 12,853,162 (1+2+8+5+3+1+6+2), each gives a sum of 28. If you divide 28 by 4, the answer, seven, is the number of perfection. Buhari is the fifth Nigerian military Head of State; he will be the 10th serving or retired military helmsman of the country.

Now that Nigerians have chosen change over staying the course, the following will be a mere speculative discourse. But certainly, the prognostication by a former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Vincent Ogbulafor, that the PDP would rule the country for an unbroken stretch of 60 years did not come to pass after all. The APC saw to that.

After the hate campaigns that assassinated the characters of some APC personalities, like Buhari, his running mate, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, and Bola Tinubu, it would be interesting to see how a re-elected President Jonathan and the PDP would assuage frayed nerves. The ethnic and religious hand played by the PDP was appalling and indecent — and it reflected in the voting pattern.

The electorate voted largely along ethnic and religious lines: The entire South-South, South-East, and the Christian segment of the North-Central (except Benue) voted en masse for the PDP. Two of the House of Representatives seats won by Lagos State PDP came from constituencies with high concentration of people of Igbo extraction.

The entire North-East, North-West, most of South-West, and predominantly Yoruba and Muslim Kwara and Kogi states of the North-Central zone, voted the APC. This voting pattern would likely raise the voice of ethnic and religious jingoists a few more decibels, and put more obstacles in the way of the hastily convened National Conference.

A re-elected President Jonathan would have retained most of the technocrats in his government, but brought in a new set of politicos. Because he would likely not declare his assets, that would be a signal for his men to continue to decimate the public treasury. His new government will certainly change the top echelons of the military.

But the season of impunity would have continued. Sixteen or a lesser number of members would still dominate the Nigerian Governors’ Forum. Because the President didn’t appear to be willing to check anything or anybody, public office holders would ride even more roughshod on the citizens. The APC may unravel as politicians jump ship, to the PDP, for political and economic survival. The opposition would have been completely decimated, and only the military would be a credible opposition to a rampaging government. “Tufiakwa,’ God forbid!

The following assessment by the PDP stalwart, Femi Fani-Kayode, shows Jonathan as “a President who does not understand the meaning of the word, class or honesty, and who breaks his own words consistently… who has abdicated his responsibility, destroyed his own political party, divided his own country, alienated his own friends, humiliated his own people, brought ridicule to his own faith, cowers before his own officials, betrayed his own governors, scorns the international community, and breaks his solemn oath to protect and defend the Nigerian people…”

Jonathan’s acts of engaging ethnic militias to secure oil pipelines appear like employing cats to watch over a bowl of meat: A further disregard to the military, which he politicized. General Olusegun Obasanjo would have been put in a permanent condition of “Shut up!” Buhari, whose political career would have been eclipsed, would have finally retired to the company of his grandchildren in Daura. Tinubu and his political family would have gone on exile or returned to the NADECO-like trenches.

If Jonathan’s PDP, that seemed to have colonised Nigeria, continued its intransigence against the people, one would have borrowed the words of caution by Robert Delavignette, a former French Colonial Officer in Algeria: “The most serious problem is not the atrocities (committed by the French against Algerians), but that as a result of that, the state (was) engaged in a process of self-destruction. What we (witnessed) in Algeria is nothing short of the disintegration of the state; it is a gangrene which threatens France itself.”

Though Jonathan would kowtow to the West’s demand to allow the private sector to run the generation and distribution of electricity, his indulgent nature would not guarantee availability of electricity-and of petroleum products. His boast to upgrade the traditional hydro and gas sources of electricity, and introduce wind, solar, coal, and nuclear power plants would have come to nought. You can see that the telecommunications companies deliver more music than talk to Nigerians.

There is palpable fear that the country has gone broke, and the state is not going to be able to provide the basic amenities for the people, especially now that both the price and the quantity of petroleum that Nigeria sells have tanked. The foreign reserves and the Excess Crude Oil funds have been severely depleted. The Federal Government will continue to borrow through Treasury Bills, and Eurobonds, to meet short-term expenditure.

The austerity measures and stricter tax regime, hinted by Finance Minister, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, would be implemented; the dilapidated infrastructure would remain so; and the Central Bank of Nigeria would fail to ease bank interest rates, further devalue the naira, and reduce the purchasing power of John Doe on Main Street, Nigeria. The continued plunging oil price should erase anyone’s illusion that the Buhari administration would pull an overnight stunt.

Jonathan’s government may continue with the routing of Boko Haram insurgents or relent, depending on the whim of his advisers. Many have wondered aloud, just where he suddenly picked up the perk to fight the Boko Haram after so many years of the atrocities perpetrated by the group-including the kidnapping of more than 200 young girls in Chibok, Borno State.

Nollywood would have continued to enjoy its honeymoon with Mr. President, even if both parties would be in it for what they could get of the relationship: He, hungry for photo-ops with popular Nollywood actors, who, in turn, are looking for money any which way. The press would still be free to perform its constitutional responsibilities, though restraints would come by way of inducements.

You can bet your lifesaver that Jonathan will not interfere with the courts or the electoral process: He allowed the courts to upturn the elections of some PDP state governors: Olagunsoye Oyinlola of Osun, Segun Agagu of Ondo, and Segun Oni of Ekiti. He also allowed the court’s adjournment of the eligibility case against Buhari to April 24 — long after the presidential election would have been concluded.

Jonathan demonstrated courage and a noble character by his timely concession of victory to Buhari. Some argue that he wanted to avoid his wife from been dragged before the International Criminal Court for her inciting gift of the gab. Whatever, Jonathan saved Nigeria from unnecessary bloodshed.

I understand that very well but when the probability of success is not reasonably proportional to the probability of failure then it is for those that have the money to throw away. Any business that can gulp your entire capital in a few hours is too risky for starters. Like I said before, I am not against gambling. It's a matter of choice but in my own opinion, it should not be taken as a business. I play sportsbet though in case u get banker. smiley

I see...... Seems u have burnt ur fingers b4 ryte?
