FlirtyKaren: One of my readers (God bless him) sent me these pictures.

He had seen them at a carpenter's shop and taken pictures when the carpenter wasn't looking. He says while he was chatting with the carpenter about the penile models, the carpenter told him he had been asked to produce them by one of his female customers.

He actually gets the contract once a year and he isn't told what the penile models are for.

Fashion / Nigerian Women Lead In Skin Bleaching – WHO by Nairaplus(m): 10:17pm On Jun 03, 2013
Please don't add this to Guinness Book grin

The World Health Organisation, WHO, has said 77 percent of women in Nigeria use skin-lightening products, the world’s highest percentage. The figure compares with 59 percent in Togo, and 27 percent in Senegal.

The WHO report said the reasons for this are varied but most people said they use skin-lighteners because they want “white skin”.

WHO also said skin bleaching comes with hazardous health consequences. The dangers associated with the use of toxic compounds for skin bleaching include, blood cancers such as leukemia and cancers of the liver and kidneys, as well as severe skin conditions. It said hardcore bleachers use illegal ointments containing toxins like mercury, a metal that blocks production of melanin, which gives the skin its colour, but can also be toxic.

The report said in many parts of Africa, lighter-skinned women are considered more beautiful and believed to be more successful and likely to find marriage. It also said it is not only women who are obsessed with bleaching their skins. Some men too are involved in the practice.

WHO investigation said lightening creams are not effectively regulated in Nigeria where even roadside vendors sell tubes and plastic bags of powders and ointments from cardboard boxes stacked along sidewalks in market districts. Many of the tubes are unlabelled as to their actual ingredients.

Qatar based Al Jazeera also reported that business is booming for shops selling skin-lightening products. A trader said, “About 90 percent of my clients come asking for skin whitening products,” adding “I sell it to them and give advice on what product is best for them and how to use them.”

grin grin grin
You can say that again. But he was just hopeful about the ASUP NEC meeting in which 23 voted for the strike to be over, and unfortunately, 26 *who I think are still enjoying the unofficial holiday) voted that the strike should still be in place.

I guess those 26 should be tired by now, or at least a large chunk of them because in this month's meeting, we expect more members to vote for END of STRIKE! kiss kiss kiss

Islam for Muslims / Re: Differences Between Boko Haram And Islam by Nairaplus(m): 10:16am On May 31, 2013
Abdul Adam56: 1) ISLAM: There is no compulsion in religion.
BOKO HARAM: Everyone must adhere to our ways else…
2) ISLAM: Love all and be just to all regardless of religion.
BOKO HARAM: If you are not with us you are against us.
3) ISLAM: Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) lived with peaceful Christians and Jews as his neighbours.
BOKO HARAM: All non-Muslims mustleave the North.
4) ISLAM: You are only permitted toprotect yourselves when you are attacked first. And you should retaliate justly but when u gain an upper hand, u shld better forgive and leave everything to Allah.
BOKO HARAM: We attack all who stand in our way
5) ISLAM: A true Muslim is one fromwhose tongue and hands his community is safe.
BOKO HARAM: We do not care your religion. Muslim or Christian we will crush any who stands in our way.
6) ISLAM: Killing of innocent souls is a great sin. No human being has theright to take life except through thedue process of the Law.
BOKO HARAM: Allah will understand. He will not punish us.
7) ISLAM: During war, non-combatant women and children must not be touched. Talk less of peace time.
BOKO HARAM: We kill men, women and children.
ISLAM: At war time, all non-Muslims that run into their places of worship ortheir homes will not be harmed. Talk less of peace time.
BOKO HARAM: We bomb non-Muslims in their places of worship. We also kill Muslims in theirmosques and homes if we feel theyare a threat to us.
So who really are these people withwarped ideologies and intents?
I may not know what they are really out to achieve but I do know for sure they do not represent Islam. Rather, they are acting contrary to it's most sublime teachings: peaceful advocacy.
Of course, Islam strongly disapproves of corruption and incapable leadership!
LET'S WORK TOGETHER, REGARDLESS OF TRIBE AND RELIGION TO PROVIDEA BETTER TOMORROW FOR ALL. May Allah help us all

Are the Boko Harams Christians?

Or Are you you saying it's a new religion?

Webmasters / Re: E-commerce Website Like & Konga.com Needed ASAP. by Nairaplus(m): 5:30pm On May 29, 2013
michaelbiz:

Hello guys, I need a similar web design like Jumia.
I found some foreign designers but I'm looking for a home-based design approach.
As a brand consultant, I've handled lots of web design projects myself.
I don't mind getting a freelancer who will do it.
It seems most Nigerian web companies don't do impressive jobs.
You can prove me wrong anyway.
I know some guys out there are very good and won't cut my head off with fees.

The only difference is I'm not competing with Jumia or Konga.
My direction is different and size is smaller, but African.
Just that in this case, I only need the checkout to flow to a page showing the corporate account info page with the summary of the items and total.
Simple !

If you can handle this to my taste, give me a call.
I have three websites to design.
1. Property/Real Estate (just visit www.zillow.com) that's what I want.
2. E-commerce (something like jumia, just smaller and no need of e-payment)
3. Personal Corporate Web (clean web-design with nice branding)

I'm outsourcing them because of my job doesn't allow me to design anymore.
I wish I had the time.
Thanks. Waiting for the right person or company.

Call me now. And be sincere.
Business is business.

How much are you offering for each category of job. State it. Then one would know either to contact you or not.
Thanks.

remmyz:

i actually sent a link to this post to a very good and intelligent friend of mine based in the US. presently in MIT. and this was his response

It is interesting concept, but... It is probably not feasible, and since no one in the scientific community is involved in this [very important] idea (I'd have heard of it if there were), I can safely say this is most likely some form of scam.
Someone on the thread mentioned something about powerful magnets, and compared it to the human strength in holding something for some time. This is the kind of argument that can 'convince' many people in developing countries about the feasibility of this. Physics students know that holding something in a stationary state is no form of work and no energy is expended. A magnet suspending a piece of metal is physically equivalent to placing the metal on a table.
Another way to look at it is, if this was something feasible and can do all it promises, why would you waste time organising seminars on it rather than filing a patent, founding a company, and finding the money to go build it and sell it all over the world?

@remmyz, What about the one with Car Battery and DC Motor. Did he also say it's not feasible?

Business / Re: Liberty Reserve Is Closed!!! The Owners Are Fraudsters!!!! 5years Imprisonment.. by Nairaplus(m): 10:40am On May 25, 2013
damickey: Yesterday, Arthur Budovsky Belanchuk was arrested under charges of financial crimes during worldwide investigation. He is the founder and owner of Liberty Reserve, one of the most popular electronic currencies online.

This arrest is a huge blow for many businesses and individuals around the world. The website and currency system is currently offline, suggesting a government seize. A government seize of the funds could result in many customers of Liberty Reserve to lose huge sums of money.

The logic in this arrest seems a bit flawed. If we are to use this logic with all currencies, most every currency would be shut down. With the potential loss of Liberty Reserve, criminals will simply move to different e-currencies. It's just unfortunate that, if legitimate, Budovsky will face criminal charges for the actions of others.

Hopefully a fair trial is put into effect and legitimate customers of Liberty Reserve do not lose their funds.

oshobar: Establishing a Pure (Sachet) water Business in Lagos

Introduction

According to Darlington Oweh, “A smart investor knows that the best product to deal on is the product in high demand, that automatically placed pure water production business “investor’s choice” any time. The demand doesn’t seem to go down very soon as it has become the most credible alternative means of getting anything close to clean drinkable water for the average Nigerian”

What you need to get started

Factory site (must not be located near a cemetery, refuse dump, fuel depot, septic tanks and pit latrines)
Register your business name
Sink a borehole
Install overhead tanks (a reservoir to supply water to the distillation system)
Install distillation system
Get NAFDAC registration
Automatic sealing machine (get the one that can seal about 40 sachets per minute
Nylon materials
Logo and product name printed on nylon material
Labor
Operator (1) for a start
Driver (1) for a start
Motor Boys (2)
Packer (2)
Cleaner (1)
Truck for distribution
Power Generating set- 25KVA

Overhead tank: Between N25,000 and N30,000
Borehole: N250,000 in Lagos

Driver (1) for a start: N2,000 per loading
Motor Boys (2) : N1,500 per loading
Packer (2): N1,500 per packing
Cleaner (1): N9,000 per month
Truck (Tokunbo): N900,000 to N1million (This price is not fixed, you can ask a car dealer for price list of trucks)
Power Generating set: (There are several makers which determine the price, check this link for price list:

Sales
One automatic sealing machine and one delivering van at 100% utilization will produce 40 sachets of pure water per minute which is equivalent to 120 bags in one hour.

You can produce between 500 to 700 bags with one machine in a day of your operator works for 4-5 hours per day.

If a bag is sold for N100
500 bags X N100 per bag = N50,000 per day
N50,000 X 28 working days = N1,400,000
One year = N1,400,000 X 12= N16,800,000

Incomplete analysis. Where is your Point-of-Entry (POE) Cost?
That is just one of the few things you omitted. I can see more.

Also, in analysis, you start with the worst case scenario, then allow reality to give better scenarios.

It took me weeks to draft a Full Feasibility Study on the Packaged Water Business, and it's sure not as scanty as what you have put up here.

Don't drive people into this business with poor information. This is a multi-million Naira venture.
