Webmasters / Re: Eyowo: The Payment Gateway You've Been Waiting For! by Nairaplus(m): 9:30am On Dec 26, 2011
I love this thread so much. I read every single post, right from the first till here, and am so glad the way Nigerians are so protective of our internet future.

Personally, I am building a Buyer-Protection e-commerce payment site, and I intend using Naira Man but my model is entirely different from Eyowo's.

Nevertheless, From this thread, I have made several observations and noted some key points of utmost importance to running a payment site. Well mine is more of an escrow, and For now the only challenge I have is that of the huge security deposit this may require but I will try nevertheless.

My advice to Eyowo Team is to diligently take a note of every issues raised here no matter how distasteful it sounds. Nothing is impossible! If you pull this off, you will be one of Nigeria's best, and hopefully richest.
Business / Re: Motorcycles (Okadas) Banned Nationally From December 31, 2011? by Nairaplus(m): 10:46am On Dec 03, 2011
If the government removes oil subsidy, prices of everything will go high, and that amounts to deliberate inflation.

Now,if the Government takes away the source of Daily Bread of Millions of Nigerians (Okada Riders) whom they have failed to provide employment for, that will multiply mass unemployment.

If the Nigerian Government should ask what I think, I would say that all these will lead to the:

If you need something simple and relatively faster than especially Java and very powerful, go for Visual BASIC 2010.

Create the simple first then go for the complex. Doing otherwise is suicide.
Programming / Re: Ludo Game Algorithm Wanted For AI Project by Nairaplus(m): 5:41pm On Oct 15, 2011
Algorithm should be about the easiest thing you as a programmer should be able to come up with. If not, then I doubt if you can code.
Webmasters / Re: I Have A Great Business In Mind by Nairaplus(m): 9:36am On Oct 14, 2011
Is it e-commerce website? Well whatever, I will help you but only on some conditions. I will not charge you a dime for the hosting. As for the design, if it's not more than I alone can handle, then no problem, you will also get it free. You will have to call me for the conditions.

Before I started programming with Visual BASIC 2010, I was working with VB 6 and till date it's still on my laptop. And yes I am running Windows 7. When I was go school I installed this same VB 6 on Windows XP& Vista. Maybe it's your Installation disc, or CD ROM DRIVE or even the installation files that are faulty. My advice is get another Installation CD.

Webmasters / Can I Use Php With Ms Sql Database? by Nairaplus(m): 2:15pm On Oct 04, 2011
I am designing the desktop version of my software with VB 2010. And the database is being done with Microsoft SQL SERVER 2008.

The problem is after the desktop version is complete, I will start designing the web version of the app. with php. When that is done, I want to use the database that I created for the desktop version with the web version. Now I have started designing the database on MS SQL. Is it possible for me to use the database for both worlds? Please I need a How answer.

Software/Programmer Market / Re: Web App Development Partnership: Serious Programmers Apply! by Nairaplus(m): 10:44am On Oct 04, 2011
I have finished with the algorithm for the desktop version.

I have also implemented more than 50% of this algorithm and the desktop version is as good as done.

When it's done, I will release it as a demo version for a limited use trial.

Now, I am working on the database design. Just finished crafting the framework, and I should create the database with Ms SQL Server 2008.

I don't know yet if it will integrate with the web app, but since the web app partners are not yet here, I will deal with that for now.

I have started working on the desktop version of the web application. I am developing it with Visual BASIC 2010 and hope to finish developing it by December 2011, which is this year's end.

Programming / Re: The Story Behind Openvr, The Voters Registration Software by Nairaplus(m): 12:02pm On Sep 23, 2011
The OpenVR software is likely an open source by Google. It does not take more than a few research to find out. Or weren't you worried by the fact that the team of less than 10 achieved a feat that takes a team of 100 many months of planning and development to produce.
Software/Programmer Market / Re: Teacher Needed by Nairaplus(m): 9:06am On Sep 22, 2011
Well! I can see that you are stubborn.

Since it takes one month for you, fine. But the question remains: what kind of programmer does that make you? You can keep the answer to yourself.

By the way, I don't claim to be an expert yet. I work daily towards that.
Software/Programmer Market / Web App Development Partnership: Serious Programmers Apply! by Nairaplus(m): 1:07pm On Sep 21, 2011
I have this wonderful idea that involves the development of a web application. I need 3 Web Programmers to apply for partnership with me.

I am budgeting that it takes us not more than three months to create and deploy. I am not a web programming guru, but you can trust me when I say that this IDEA is a hot cake: Many are looking, but only few people like me are seeing it, Now I feel like I am the only one taking the step to develop and launch it.

That said, what do you stand to gain by joining forces with me?

1. Like I said we will form a partnership and as the helmsman, I will take 51% of the business. You know why!

2. Each of my partners will take 15% each. That's 45% for the three partners.

3. The remaining 5% is for The Business Cost (includes Hosting, Maintenance and Advertising/Marketing).

The Potential Of This Business Deal
The potential users of this model comprises of a little more than one million Nigerian citizens. With time, the website will come to accomodate many other African countries. I do not have a crystal ball, but with adequate marketing nationwide, I am of the belief that even if only 0.2% of people respond, and pay the paltry N500 for access and opportunity to use the app, Your 15% will come up to at least N150,000 for the first year. And with popularity, it gets better.

Do You Think This Idea Is Viable?
If it's not viable, I would not want to invest at least N50,000 of my hard-earned cash into it. I only need the programmers to join force with me and contribute their mental quota to the devlopment of the app.

I hope to start the application development by February 2012! Meanwhile I am still putting in place the required framework. All developers will work with me under one roof, don't worry about the accomodation/Feeding. Like I said, I will take care of that.

I need serious programmers to tender their interest to join the team. While I will not reveal the idea publicly now, I would do that when the team is set to start. Just indicate here by replying to the post if you are capable.

Fourthly, Y wont u teach som1 Java free unda 1 month when u really dnt knw anytin abt it?, plz, no offence intended but are u so dull dat learning hw 2 write d simple "HELLO WORLD" program took u up 2 30 mins?, if dat took u up to 30 mins 2 learn, den hw are u gonna learn java comprehensively in 1 month?, in my own opinion, i tink dat u should stop dat your so-called Niger Delta training b4 u go and teach people JAVASCRIPT and tell them dat its JAVA so dey dont go about and tell people dat dey are Java programmers thereby rubbishing d name of nigerian programmers.

Please consider what he's saying.

Stop this "You Can Be A Professional in One Month" stories. It only produces half-baked people. For your information, you will never be able to live long enough to memorize all the classes and superclasses and such like in Java. So how can you ever claim to be a master of it, talk more of in one month.

Software/Programmer Market / Re: Teacher Needed by Nairaplus(m): 3:24pm On Sep 20, 2011
Children stop fighting.

Well, it is not possible to learn a programming language from A to Z in one month, start thinking of one year.

Secondly, the best application doesn't have to be complex in design. All that is needed is functionality, usability and security.

Finally, you don't need to learn all the programming languages in the industry to create an application. Just two is enough- one for the web, and another for desktop, especially Windows. But, you need to be expert in just one. You can always hire people for the rest if the need be.

Paypal does not accept Nigerians truly. And will easily ban you if you are from a Paypal Restricted country like ours. But, there is always a way out and many are still using it to easily operate their own paypal account without being banned.

The only problem is that, you will have to abide by some rules, and it is a MUST that you keep to these rules. For more information on how to open and verify a paypal account in Nigeria, I will suggest that you read this article. There you will find a step by step method for opening, verifying, accessing and transacting with your paypal account without being banned: http://nigerius..com/2011/08/how-to-open-and-verify-paypal-account.html

Business / Re: What Business Can I Start With N20,000 by Nairaplus(m): 6:29pm On Sep 05, 2011
If you have a job, then you may consider starting the bulk sms business. I am a blogger, but I would also not advice that you start it with that money, because it will take you 6 months to start making money from it, that is if you do it right.

But I usually have this advice to give people like you who have N20,000 or the likes: Invest it in recharge card retail business. This way your money is safe and can be recovered within a day, in case you wish to stop.

All you need do is to find a spot especially higher institutions around you. Then locate any shop around there that people patronise very well and offer to help the owner as a sales person while he/she allows you to sell your recharge cards from his/her shop. Alternatively, you may even open your own phone call stand and operate from there.

With this business, if you save well, you will make it big in no time. I am telling you from personal experience.
Business / Re: What's The Best Internet Business A Nigerian Can Do? by Nairaplus(m): 4:38pm On Sep 04, 2011
Pat.Ogidi:

Does anyone have an idea of a favorable internet business a Nigeria can do and get their cash here stress-free?

There seems to be lots of them but, majority of them are nothing but a waste of time.

Useful suggestions will be appreciated!

With the way you asked your question, I know you are not new to the internet. So my first suggestion to you is to be ready to work. There is no free lunch online as many of you think. If you hear someone preaching how much they have made online, you think (and sometimes they lead you to believing that) it was overnight. That's not true.

In my own little way, I make money blogging. Now I can only implore you to start today, and in 6 months time, I bet that you will be sitting on the other side of the table like I am now. Starting is free with Google's Blogger platform and you can even have your own domain name.

Please, sacrifice your time and a little money for cafe time if you do not have a Laptop and internet connection and learn this beautiful trade. I can assure you that when the money starts rolling in, you wouldn't want to be ever paid in Naira anymore.

And as for whether your money will come to you, Yes! Google will send you your payment cheque usually in dollars and you can pay into your account. Usually takes at most 7days to arrive and 21 days to clear. That's from my experience though.

To your success.
