Please am about buying a C300 2008 or 2010 frm US,any known issues with the car? Please som1 should give me a rundown on this particular car before I make a huge mistake.

Are the parts readily available? Are the parts cheap? The ride itself,how satisfactory does it serve it's owners?

Please ur candid advice is needed.

Try and carry out a VIN check before you pick,make sure you avoid the engine range plagued with balanced shaft issue.Thereafter worry about EIS failure, if you can easily ascertain it has been resolved.Its a great ride and if you don't mind the extra power the C350 is my choice any day.cheers

If you go this way then am sorry you will have more problems greater than the cash you are losing changing at 3000km.I am very sure the mechanic is not replacing with OEM fuel filter.My advice,get OEM filter and if you fill your tank weekly my advice is maximum yearly.If its the chinko amama(china filter) then twice yearly can suffice.This is not cast in stone tho and like kingrein said this mint baby ought to be handled by the dealer company.

Please heed your friend's advise. I have used both cars. The Kompressor is very problematic and makes you a regular visitor to mechanics while the V6 is way more smoother and better in all ramifications.

As for the guy rating a C230 2005/6 4plug Kompressor above a C230 2005/6 V6 engine....i smile in Swahili... Speed is mostly a function of the driver than the car. Besides, the said V6 car might have some hidden faults..

But on a very good day and all things been equal, the C230 V6 beats the C230 Kompressor hands down.

Generalisations are never helpful.You used one Kompressor that was more problematic than one N/A ,True.I have a kompressor i have been looking for what to fix in over 6 months,A friend has a kompresssor like mine that is plagued with all sorts and he has been at the mechanic everyweek in the last 2 months.What am i driving at?You dont write a script for what a vehicle will throw at you.I know someone with the same C230 v6 that has issues he cant resolve and want to scrap the vehicle,Does that mean its a bad vehicle overall?Be the judge

Dont attack him unnecessirily, ultimately its a matter of choice. For the records, i personally own an 05 Kompressor. My friendsV6 06 model is childs play compared to mine in terms of speed. B4 he gets 100km am way beyond 150. Cant compare. FACT

This is very true and only when both cars are at over 200km/h for sustained period can the naturally aspirated stand a chance of catching up.And those calling all kompressors 1.8l, i shake my head

Plz sir who told u 2005 kompressor is faster than 06 c230 272 engine? Mind you 05 kompressor comes with 271 4plugs engine which I advice everyone I know to run from anyway it's a free world everyone is free to buy whatever u want to buy #nohardfeelings

According to the research I gathered online, the recommended plug in terms of quality
1. Iridium
2. Platinum
3. Copper

Though copper is a good conductor but it's not about conduction but other factors come into play. Copper doesn't last, it's life time is around 20,000miles while iridium and platinum are poor conductors but last more than copper reason why they are preferred to copper.

Every manufacturers has put things in place before they recommend whatever they do, using copper isn't bad but since it doesn't last, car manufacturers tend to sway to other metallic components. Have in mind there are other metals used in spark plugs too for totally different engine settings.

My toyota sienna 2000 says use double tipped iridium spark plugs

My OEM specified plug is copper,i initially got a platinium tipped plug but traded it after one month when i took delivery of the OEM copper plugs.I prefer to use the copper and replace every 30k miles and not 20k as stated.I know platinum lasts longer but the feel and movement of the copper plug is better.My 2 cents

Forget the cost of the engine and gear Philadelphia,cos u will never get to change them except u pour salt in the engine or abro in the gear.That said the ride is a solid machine and "bullet proof" like all benz engines.

They are good if every other engine components are good to go.
Don't waste money on any platinum or iriduim spark plugs, they serve no special purpose.
Some Itk peeps dat knows nothing from that whatsapp group will soon come n tell you to go for platinum or iridium spark plugs.

I am shocked that gazzuz recommended 20w50 for a car just because of age.If that previa is tokunbo and the previous owner or owners have stuck to 10w30 and engine is still in pristine condition,20w50 will bring that engine to comatose maybe not immediately but surely.

I believe at start ups the thickness of 20w50 will wear that engine faster and eventually compression will drop and engine will be struggling.

Dear gazzuz on this one i believe ur counsel is not the best.My two cents poster stick to mobil 1 5w30 which is readily available at mobil stations

Please what would cause a Honda accord 96 with jdm engine to start making a whistling sound.It is noticeable when the car is idling and source seems to be from the engine.Investigated the vacum hoses and there seems to be no leakage

It is most likely obvious you are making use of mineral oil which is 20w50..How much did you get your last Oando oil..if within the region of 3k to 4k, then it is the normal mineral oil..It will be better you switch to mobil Xhp which cost around 3,300 naira..That is the best bet for you..Currently drive a 2006 Corolla LE and it is this Mobil Xhp I use and it works just fine..

PS..be sure to change your oil every 3000 miles..All the best

Ever wonder why cars once imported into this country and driven for 2 years loses its initial feel of smoothness?apart from our bad roads,our maintenance culture for 98% of us is zero.You are pouring 20w50 in a corolla that specifies 5w 30 and you are happy to say it works fine and advising someone else to follow suit.In due time both of you shall reap the benefits.using 3,300 oil and filter plus service charge every 3 months versus 9,800 oil and filter plus service charge that lasts 9 months plus engine remains pristine,do the math bro=pennywise pound foolish.

Does the 15k miles theory work here? What vehicle are you using it for? The other Mobil 1 in his collection is very ideal. Gazz, is there castrol edge in your collection?

Yes the 15k miles works everywhere but I don't push it that far and it must be with mobil 1 extended performance oil filter.Use it for honda accord 94-2002
