GUARDING THE TONGUE AGAINST UNETHICAL UTTERANCES
In the Name of Allah Most Gracious Most Merciful
Praise be to Allah Who never speaks but the truth, His commands are with leniency. Those who worship him sincerely are elevated and those who oppose Him are in misery. We testify that He alone is worthy of being worshipped, He is alone with no partner. We seek refuge in Him from rumour mongering, evil character and unguided utterances.
We also testify that our leader Muhammad (SAW) is His servant and Messenger: the most beautiful of all Messengers in character and bearer of the heaviest burden. Allah indeed counsels him saying:
“And obey not everyone who swears much, a slanderer who goes about spreading enmity, who hinders others from doing good, transgressor and sinful.”
May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, his family, companions and all those who follow their example of guiding their tongues and restricting their utterances.
O you the servants of Allah! It will not be a new thing to you to hear that Islam commanded you to watch over your tongue against unethical utterances. A true Muslim is suppose to be very far from being a slanderer, a backbiter, a liar and a rumour-monger who goes about spreading enmity between people. Whoever guards his tongue and private parts is assured of entrance to Paradise base on the saying of the Prophet (SAW):

‘Whoever assures me of the total control of what is in-between his mouth and his legs; I will in turn assure him of (entrance to) Paradise.’
What an easy task and so great a reward? What excuse do we then have, for not working with the teachings of our religion and for not emulating the characters of our great Prophet? Today, Muslims seems to have forgotten the teachings of their religion, they keep on uttering things unbecoming of them either due to their age, societal placement or even for the very reason of being Muslims. Rumour-mongering and spreading enmity between people are some of the deadly evils most people sleep and wake-up with; it cut across the fabric of the society.
Today, not only women, but also men, not only children, but even the elders, not even in the market places and public joints, but even in the Houses of Allah where people gather to pray and supplicate, if you listen, you would hear some people passing unconfirmed information related by unconfirmed sources, telling others all sort of rubbish about another person, which in most cases, they themselves don’t believe to be true, but because man a times is naturally happy telling another person negative stories concerning his fellow brother. The tongues of such people are more deadly than that of a poisonous snake: they separate friends and turn brothers to enemies, one to another. They do to relationships what a heavy rain will do to a burning flame.
Muslims must fear Allah and avoid backbiting, slander, gossiping and spreading enmity between people by telling one person what another has said about him/her for the sake of setting them against each other, or by talking ill of someone in his absence or even in his presence, so as to disgrace him, lower his status or even tarnish his image before others. A Hadith says:

‘He will not enter Paradise, whose work is to promote enmity between people’

And for those to whom the stories of others shall be brought, expecting them to take negative actions, they should not submit themselves to the handiwork of the devil or his agents by acting on such information which are in most cases as mischievous as well as misleading. Allah (SWT) gives this advice:

يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آَمَنُوا إِنْ جَاءَكُمْ فَاسِقٌ بِنَبَإٍ فَتَبَيَّنُوا أَنْ تُصِيبُوا قَوْمًا بِجَهَالَةٍ فَتُصْبِحُوا عَلَى مَا فَعَلْتُمْ نَادِمِينَ
“O you who believe! If a rebellious evil person (among you) comes to you with news, verify it, (before taking action), lest you harm people in ignorance, and afterwards become regretful for what you have done.”
So verify any information given to you concerning any other person, especially if such information is in the negative.
May Allah (SWT) enable us to follow His guidance as well as to avoid the ways of Shaitan.

PART II
Thanks be to Allah (SWT) Whose affairs are beyond human comprehension, Whose Kingdom has absolute Powers, Whose goodness have no measure. We thank Him for guiding us to the Straight Path by sending His Prophet with the most comprehensive document (the Qur’an) in which He commanded us to be obedient and to exhibit excellent behaviours and forbade us from rebellion, hypocrisy and unworthy characters.
Brothers and sisters in Islam! I enjoin you and myself to fear Allah wherever we might be and to interact with people with good manners.
It is very unfortunate that a times you see a man or a woman dressing as a complete gentleman or lady, wearing the looks of the innocent; you will give such a person the regard of a god-fearing, but by the time you hear his utterances, nothing would make you not to believe that he is either the devil himself or one of his strongest agents.
One of the things that cause people to say unfavourable things about others is normally the knowledge they have of the private life of such people. Islam therefore does not permit you as a Muslim, to even try to find out what goes on in the life of another person beyond what that person makes public. This is why the Qur’an says:
وَلَا تَجَسَّسُوا
“Do not spy on each other.”
During his farewell pilgrimage (on the 9th Dhul Hijja 10 AH), the Prophet (SAW) says:
‘The blood, the property and the honour of one Muslim is forbidden to another (because each one of them) is as holy as the city of Mecca in the month of Dhul Hijja on the day of Arafat. Your blood, property and dignity are forbidden on one another…’
Most things concerning telling lies, backbiting, slander and dishonouring people are caused by the actions of the tongue, Muslims must guard the tongue at all times. The Prophet (SAW) says:
‘Nothing ushers people into the Hell-Fire more easily than what they utter with their own tongues.’
And the only way to watch over our tongues is stated in a Hadith in which the Prophet (SAW) says:
‘Whoever truly believes in Allah and the Last Day should say what is good or keep silent.’
We pray to Allah (SWT) to continue to guide us and protect our tongues from misguided utterances. May He enable us to follow His guidance as well as to avoid the ways of Shaitan.

SIGNIFICANCE OF OBEDIENCE TO PARENTS
In the Name of Allah Most Gracious Most Merciful
All praise is to Allah who is Honest in His pronouncements and guides to the Right Path. He himself commands mankind to be obedient to his parents and promises him entrance into Paradise. We also testify that our leader Muhammad (SAW) is His servant as well as Messenger.
Our sermon today is about loving and honouring our parents. I can see that in our congregation here today, the students are anxious to see their parents and relative tomorrow 02/03/2019 for the open and visiting day, so perhaps this topic might be of special interest to all of us.
Islam ranks our parents so highly, that only obedience to Alláh and His Prophet come before love and obedience to our parents. Parents are our source of birth and sustenance till we reach to puberty and then to adulthood. The rights of parents on their children are enormous so are the rights of children on their parents. Islam builds a family in which prevails mutual respect and care. Parents and children in Islam are bound together by mutual obligations and reciprocal arrangements.
The way we treat others, so shall we be treated. We can see this by looking around and reflecting on the successes and failures of others. Clearly, those who sow good seeds reap goodness; and those who sow evil only reap sorrow. The reward for good deeds can only be good, and the reward for bad deeds can only bring us closer to self-destruction.
The Muslim should recognize the status of the parent and know his duties towards them. The status of parents in Islam is a status which mankind had not known before. Almighty Allah has placed the respect for the parents’ just one step below the belief in Almighty Allah and true worship of Him. The Qur’an says:
"Your Lord has decreed that you shall not worship except Him, and your parents shall be honoured. As long as one or both of them live, you shall never say to them Uff (the slightest gesture of annoyance), nor shall you shout at them; you shall treat them amicably" {Qur’an 17:23}.
The children must take great care not to react badly to what their parents have to say. If they say or do anything which is not liked or approved of by the children, then they must show patience and tolerance instead of giving vent to their anger. The children must scrupulously try to refrain from disobeying their parents since the Prophet regarded this as "one of the grave sins".
The children must be kinder and more grateful to their mothers since they took greater pains in their upbringing. That is why the Prophet emphasized that it is the mother who has the first claim on the child's care and attention.
When we were ill, she suffered with us, fearful that some misfortune might befall us. In her worry and anxiety she would cry and beseech Allah to restore us to good health and grant us a long and prosperous life. In the same way too, a good deed from us brings joy to her heart, but when we do something wrong, it fills her heart with disappointment and tears stream down her cheeks. Love deserves love! Remember: “Paradise, lies at the feet of your Mother.”
Once a companion asked the Prophet (SAW) as to whom he should show more kindness. The Prophet replied: "Your mother". He asked who comes next and the Prophet again replied: "Your mother". He asked the Prophet yet again who comes next. The Prophet replied: "Your mother". When the companion asked for the fourth time, only then did the Prophet reply: "Your father".
Besides our mother no one deserves our love, our respect, our kindness and our bounty more than our father. It is he, together with our mother, who makes up the parental team. Fathers work hard to provide for the family’s needs. As leaders of the home, they teach us what will benefit us, materially and spiritually. Let us take care not to display any animosity or unkindness towards our fathers, for then, one day, our children will treat us in like manner.
Not every parent is a model mother or father. We all have our strength and our weakness. Our parents are the same. Sometimes we forget that they, too, are only human. But we should not love them any less for that. Islam forbids us to be rude, sarcastic, and abusive or hurt their feelings in any way. As in all relationships, if we must draw attention to any faults, we should do so in the kindest and most loving manner.
Obedience to parents is always subject to the laws of Islam. Sometimes, a mother or father may expect or demand or do something that Alláh disapproves of. In such cases, as painful as it may be, we must obey Alláh rather than our parents.
Fortunately, most of us have parents who love Alláh and who love Islam, and would therefore be unlikely to do or demand from us, anything that displeases Alláh. Occasions like this would be rare and exceptional. We all owe a great deal to our mothers and fathers, who have set a good example for us, and nurtured us in childhood with a love for Islam that grew with us into our adult years.
Oh Muslims, let us worship Alláh alone, and strive to please our parents. This will guarantee our happiness in this world and in the hereafter. Rasúlullah (SAW) reminded us that: “The satisfaction of Allah lies in the satisfaction of your parents, and the wrath of Allah lies in the displeasure of your parents.”
It is reported that a young man once complained to the Prophet (SAW) that his father was taking his money. The Prophet summoned the father. An old man, leaning heavily on his walking-stick, made his appearance. When asked if, what the son complained about was true, the old man stared long at the Prophet and softly replied, “O Apostle of Allah, my son used to be weak and I strong; he used to be poor and I rich, and what I had in my possession I spent for his wellbeing. Today I am poor and weak because of my old age and my son cannot afford to spend even a small amount on me!” The Prophet was overwhelmed by this and a tear rolled from his eye as he spoke: “There is no stone or any hard object but cries when he hears such sentiments expressed. You (young man) and all your property belong to your parents.” Twice the Prophet repeated this sentence.
May Allah (SWT) enable us to be dutiful to our parents, pardon and have mercy upon the dead ones among them, forgive our shortcomings and continue to guide, protect and bless our parents that are still alive.

PART II
Praise be to Allah (SWT) Who is always truthful in His sayings and may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon His Prophet, Muhammad (SAW), his family, his companions and whoever follows his laid-down principles.
Let our young people, our boys and girls take special note of today’s lessons. Your education, which starts in the home, is not complete unless you honour and obey your educators, your parents and school teachers.
In Islam, honouring parents is not confined to Mother’s Day or Father’s Day alone but rather for each and every day in life time. The recognition and respect of parents is mentioned in the Qur’an eleven times; in every instance, Almighty Allah reminds children to recognise and to appreciate the love and care that they have received from their parents.
Let us pray to Alláh, that he should grant our mothers and fathers, a very special place in Jannah. They cared for us and nurtured us with love and Imán, when we were helpless little children. And they continued to pray for us even when we became adults with children of our own. May Alláh help our own children, to continue this cycle of loving care and respect for us, so that the cycle may repeat from one generation to the next.
The Quran has made it compulsory for the child to treat his parents with all goodness and mercy. Every Muslim must show goodness and mercy to his parents throughout their lives. There is only one exception to this, and that is, if the parents ask their children to associate anything with Allah and to commit sins, then the children must not obey their parents. In all cases, the children must show love and gratitude to their parents. They must always speak to them gently and respectfully. They must try their best to make them happy, provided they do not disobey Allah in the process. Allah says:
“But if they (both) strive with you to make you join in worship with me others of which you have no knowledge, then obey them not; but behave with them in the world kindly…” (Quran 31:15).
Far from showing signs of displeasure, the children must pray for them. We must continue praying for them even after they die. Such prayer will be regarded as a continuous charity as the Prophet (SAW) told us. It is also the duty of the child to provide for his parents, if he is able to do so.
May Alláh grant all of us, His Love, His Mercy and Forgiveness for our sins and for our human frailties. May Alláh allow us all to move ever closer to him in our thoughts, our words and our actions.

SINCERITY/TRUTHFULNESS
In the Name of Allah Most Gracious Most Merciful
All praise is to Allah who is Honest in His pronouncements and guides to the Right Path. He himself praises those that are truthful and promises them entrance into Paradise. None is more truthful than Him, He, indeed, does not guide anyone who intentionally keeps-on committing sin, one who keeps on telling lies We testify that He is the only one Who deserves to be worshipped sincerely. He is alone, having no partners.
We also testify that our leader Muhammad (SAW) is His servant as well as Messenger. He is the truthful, who always says, but the truth. May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him and all those who follow his guidance and they are those who listen to speeches and make use of that which is the best.
O you Muslims! We must know that being truthful is a character and an attribute of Allah that is expected to show in us. No Messenger was sent, except he has been certified to be honest in the deliverance of his Message.
A Muslims can have any characteristic except lying and betrayal, but today truthfulness and sincerity are fast disappearing from the characters of people, even Muslims. And if one is to be truthful it should be a Muslim because it is part of the manners of our Prophet, which earned him the name Al-AMEEN (the truthful) and commendation from Allah in His saying:
وَإِنَّكَ لَعَلَى خُلُقٍ عَظِيمٍ
“And indeed, you (Oh Muhammad) are of great moral character.”
Truthful in pronouncement, honest in dealings and of abstaining from all evils are attributes of a Muslim just as telling lies, and betrayal of trust are characters of hypocrites. Among men, there are some, whose speech will impress you in this life but in reality, they are the most evil in action as Qur’an described them:
وَيُشْهِدُ اللَّهَ عَلَى مَا فِي قَلْبِهِ وَهُوَ أَلَدُّ الْخِصَامِ
“They may even call the name of Allah to be a witness to what they say, but in reality, they are the most evil of your opponents.”
This is because what they are saying is not the truth: They are the followers of Shaitan,, they have given their righteousness in exchange for misguidance and given up forgiveness to earn punishment.
There are people who talk impressively in your presence and turns out to be your opponents in your absence, such are the people one should fear associating with, because Allah says:
يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آَمَنُوا اتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَكُونُوا مَعَ الصَّادِقِينَ
“O you who believe! Fear Allah and be (only) with those who are truthful.”
And just like all other sins, falsehood is detested by the souls of believers, because if it is committed once, it becomes easy for man to commit it again, and if it is committed again, it will be easier for man to commit it over and over until it becomes a part of one’s life. Allah says:
إِنَّمَا يَفْتَرِي الْكَذِبَ الَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِآَيَاتِ اللَّهِ وَأُولَئِكَ هُمُ الْكَاذِبُونَ
“It is only those who did not believe in the revelations of Allah, who fabricate falsehood, and it is they who are liars.”
If people are not truthful, it will be difficult to distinguish between a Muslim and a non-Muslim or between the righteous and the evil. Corruption, enmity and cheating in all their ramifications will be widespread. A healthy society cannot be established or maintained if one brother cannot trust another simply because the other cannot say the truth about himself or about any other person or things.
If the disbelievers of the Pre-Islamic era like Abu Sufyan will hate telling lies so as not to be called liars, what then is the matter with us, the believers of today, who are endowed with the perfect religion that enjoins truthfulness and forbids telling lies? Telling lies and idol worshipping are placed on the same scale in the Qur’an where Allah says:
فَاجْتَنِبُوا الرِّجْسَ مِنَ الْأَوْثَانِ وَاجْتَنِبُوا قَوْلَ الزُّورِ
“Avoid the abomination of idol worshipping and (in the same vein), avoid false statement.”
We must know, that the way a man is before Allah, that is how he will be before the angels and they shall testify either in favour of, or against him on the Last Day. That is why the Prophet (SAW) said he enjoined us to be truthful for it leads to righteousness. We should avoid telling lies, for it leads to evil. Allah says:
“Whatever the Messenger brought to you, hold unto it firmly, and whatever he forbids you abstain from it. Fear Allah for His punishment is so severe.”
Truth is one of the things he came with, and telling lies is one of the evil things he forbade, we must therefore make a choice.

PART II
Praise be to Allah (SWT) Who is always truthful in His sayings and may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon His Prophet, Muhammad (SAW), his family, his companions and whoever follows his laid-down principles.
Brothers and sisters in Islam! Is it not disturbing for one to trust you and then you lie to him? It is a scandal, when a non-believer or a sinful person has dealing with you with absolute honesty, then you (who is supposed to be an example for all) will turn out to be untruthful. You are by so doing, telling him that, that is how your religion is.
Yes! Many a times, it is Muslims themselves that disgraces and tarnishes the image of Islam. Unless if we are truthful in our acts of worship and we are truthful in our interaction with others, we would not attain greatness and we cannot provide examples worthy of emulation. Do not be among those who swear in the Name of Allah even when what they swear for is not the truth because for such people is a provision of a tormenting fire in the life after.
Shaitan refused to bow down for Prophet Adam (AS) and gave the reason that he was better than Adam (AS) a statement which is a lie, and for that, Allah flushed him out of Paradise. This is a clear indication that Allah can withdraw His favours on one who makes telling lies his/her habit. Because of the fear that the blessings of Allah may be withdrawn from one who tells lies as it happened to Shaitan, the Prophet (SAW) enjoins Muslims to be truthful.
Remember, apart from the spiritual benefits of always saying the truth, there are a lot of other benefits in it for people. For instance, if scholars will be sincere and truthful in their preaching such that the preaching will be free of selfish explanations and manipulative translations, they will be accorded more respect and their opinions will be widely used.
If Muslims will fear Allah and be among the truthful in their worship to Allah, be sincere in their worship with no showing off, abide by the commands of Allah and shun the things He prohibited, they would have found Allah Most Generous, Most Forgiving, Most Rewarding and Most Merciful and they would have been a source of good example for others.
It is a major crisis when trust is lost and people become dishonest in their dealings with one another. The Prophet says:
‘Among those whom Allah will not speak to on Judgment Day, will not even mention them and they will have grievous Punishment is one who sells something to another person, swearing by the Name of Allah to have bought it at so and so a price, making the buyer to believe him, while in reality he is lying.’
Know it O you people, that if truth and sincerity disappear from the moral values of people, such people are heading for spiritual and social collapse such that parents will not be ashamed of lying to their children and children will not be afraid of lying to their parents, leaders will think it normal to lie to their people and people will think it wise to also lie to their leaders.
May Allah show us the truth and give us the ability to follow it. May He make falsehood manifest, and give us the courage to avoid it.

THE SINFUL BEHAVIOURS OF PEOPLE TODAY
In the Name of Allah Most Gracious Most Merciful
Glory be to Allah (SWT) Who commanded us to obey Him and prohibits rebellion. He promises Paradise and many blessings for those who obey Him, and Hell coupled with severe torment to those who rebel against His command. We believe He is the only God without partners and Prophet Muhammad (SAW) is His servant and Messenger may the blessings of Allah be upon the Prophet, his family, members of his household, companions and whoever follow their teachings till the Last Day.
O you Muslims! The Book of Allah (Qur’an) is calling us to faith and His Messenger is calling us to righteousness, but it is as if we are answering neither the Qur’an nor the Messenger: it seems our ears are blocked or our hearts are covered. Is it that we allow Shaytan to over-power us, or that we allow him to decorate the road to sin so that we would enjoy threading on it? Why won’t it seem so, when our youths know nothing about manners, our elders are involved in all manners of immorality and indecency; no longer bothering about their guardianship position in the society, our women no longer care about modesty and the use of Islamic dress, children have no any other preoccupation than causing one trouble after another? Evil conduct and sinful attitudes are in their alarming stage, such that it is difficult to distinguish between the leaders and the led or between the righteous and the sinful; everybody is hell-bent in committing sin; the young are not afraid of the old, and the old are not shy to commit in the presence of the young. Allah says::
“Do not think that Allah is unaware of that which the wrong-doers do, but He gives them respite up to a Day when the eyes will stare in horror (at what it has committed).”
The character of the early Muslims was such that, when they hear verses of the Qur’an and Ahadith of the Prophet (SAW) and understand the commands and the prohibitions in them, they say, ‘we hear and we obey’, and then put their knowledge into practice. They do not persist in committing a sin after it has been plainly explained to them. Their eyes and hearts were very fearful of Allah for what they know of the truth. They run away from misguidance the way a victim will run away from its raider. If they see any sign of Allah or His Miracle, or if they meditate on the creations of Allah, and they understand the essence of Allah in them, they would not be headless, but rather increase in faith and submit to Him the more, saying:
رَبَّنَا مَا خَلَقْتَ هَذَا بَاطِلًا سُبْحَانَكَ فَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ
“Our Lord! You have not created (all) this without purpose, glory to You! Give us salvation from the torment of the Fire.”
Simply, they do not go deeper into sin while they have deeper understanding of the rules of Allah, and that is exactly how a Muslim should be.
Quite contrary to the practices of those righteous Muslims of before, people today do not want to hear the truth even if in the truth there is their salvation. If they hear the truth, like the original unbelievers of those days, they think it is the day–to–day stories formulated by somebody who want to get the attention of people. Some people do follow that which suites their purpose even if in it there is Shaytan’s trap for them. If they should hear any Message from Qur’an or Hadith, they do not benefit from it, for the effects of such Messages last in them only for a short period after which they will go back to their misdeeds. If you don’t find one betraying trust you would find him stealing: it happens, you see a seemingly-complete gentleman, seriously reciting the verses of the Qur’an in the Mosque, but the next minute, as soon as he discovers he is all alone, he packs valuable items belonging either to the Mosque or other Muslims and disappears. If you don’t find one cheating others you would find him careless about promises: people will make promises which right from time they know they will not keep, and they would cover their faults under the pretense that it is Allah Who did not wish it to happen. If you don’t find one disobeying his parents or elders, you would find him not firm and regular in prayers: you will see a Muslim choosing for himself which prayer to be observed. Some do not even come to the Mosque at all except on Fridays or even during Eid occasions and they feel nothing bad about it.
May Allah include us among the occupants of the Paradise. May He forgive and overlook our shortcomings and have mercy upon us.

PART II
We give thanks to Allah (SWT) at all circumstances, we seek refuge in Him from the influence of those who go astray, we seek His blessings in all our undertakings and seek His protection from evils of life and death, the evils of the anti-Christ as the contemporary evil of the society. Allah says:
“Evil (sins and disobedience of Allah etc) has appeared (and became wide spread) on land and sea because of what the hands of men have machinated (oppression and evil conduct), that Allah may make them taste a part of that which they have caused, in order that they may return (to Allah by repenting to Him and begging His Pardon).”
Many people have rendered the teachings of this religion ineffective. They have crossed and are still crossing the boundary, which Allah said they should not cross. They are making caricature of His Law and no longer respect His injunctions. Ethics and behaviours are nothing to write home about. People do commit evil on top of evil as if they are the ones who created themselves, even with a feeling of security. Even if you tell them to fear Allah and abandon their evil ways, they hardly believe in you. If people don’t have faith in the Qur’an and Sunnah, then in which speech will they believe? Allah says
فَبِأَيِّ حَدِيثٍ بَعْدَ اللَّهِ وَآَيَاتِهِ يُؤْمِنُونَ
“Then in which speech after (that of) Allah and His Verses will they believe?
If people in this our contemporary period are still committing the crime of those generations of people before us, how sure are they that what befell those people at that time will not befall them now? How can the people who profess that their guidance is the Qur’an, and that their religion is Islam, be involved in widespread evils and atrocities? We should know that if sin is manifested in a community or nation, cheating, bribery and injustice are considered normal in everyday life, arrogance, rudeness and disobedience to a constituted authority are the behaviours of people, then the moral values of people are no longer desirable. And once this been the case, the resulting effect is enmity and hatred between people, injustice and oppression from leaders and incurable diseases in epidemic proportions and discomfort in life, where everybody will be complaining about one thing or the other, and solutions to the problems would not be sighted in the near future. When this happens, Allah would then gradually take away the pious and righteous ones and we will all be left at the mercy of those who are misguided such that every person will be in a state of lost, except those few who struggle and guard themselves against evil.
Because of this and so many more reasons, we must desist from committing all those things that we know are not allowed even if we derive pleasure when we do them. We must repent and the repentance should be immediate.
We are therefore expected to repent for our sins before we die in sin, as death has no calendar. This is the call of Allah:
وَمَنْ لَا يُجِبْ دَاعِيَ اللَّهِ فَلَيْسَ بِمُعْجِزٍ فِي الْأَرْضِ مُبِينٍ
“And whosoever does not respond to Allah’s caller, he cannot escape on earth.”
May Allah continue to protect us from evil and immorality. May He make us victorious over the evils in our hearts. May Allah continue to guide us aright and make us the best Muslims we are suppose to be. May He also protect us from the evils of those who commit evil; men and women, the ones we know and the ones we don’t know, from among the humans and the Jinns.

A MUSLIM’S CODE OF CONDUCT
In the Name of Allah Most Gracious Most Merciful
Praise be to Allah (SWT) for the favours He places in Islam. We praise Him Almighty for making us the best creatures. We bear witness that none deserves to be worshipped except Him: He rewards everybody in accordance with their actions; either Paradise for righteous deeds or the Hell-Fire for rebellion. We equally bear witness that our leader Muhammad (SAW) is His servant and Messenger. May Allah continue to shower His blessings on the Prophet, his family, companions and those who follow their footsteps until the Last Day.
O you the servants of Allah! I advise you and myself to fear Allah towards Whom we direct all our actions. Indeed, He says:

“Whoever goes right, then he goes right only for the benefit of his own self. And whoever goes astray, and then he goes astray to his own loss. No one with burden can bear another’s burden. And We (Allah) never punish (people) until We have sent (to them) a Messenger (to give warning).”
O you Muslims! You are all living witnesses to the fact that some of us have deviated to the wrong path and mostly remembers the teachings of their religion when facing imminent danger, when drowned in the waters of trouble or when affected with any calamity. We should know that the religion of Islam is a wide range of practices. Islam is not only restricted to praying five times in a day, fasting in the month of Ramadan, giving Zakat or going on pilgrimage. Of course all these are strong pillars and the absence of one of them will render one’s Islam incomplete. But then, on a general note, Islam which means total submission to the will of Allah, is for one to keep clear of the things and areas which Allah have prohibited. It also means one to stay where one was instructed either in the Book of Allah or the traditions of His Messenger (SAW).
The best Muslim as we are all expected to know is the one who does not harm, or causes harm to others either with his tongue or hand. The person who carries out the best migration is the person who migrates from sin and disbelieve to righteous deeds and belief. All these qualities if taken with good faith, would add the fear of Allah at heart. And whoever fears Allah by keeping his duty to Him, for him there would be eternal life in the Paradise. All these are supposed to be reminders for those who wish to be guided to the Right Path.
A true believer prays for the guidance of the wealthy and those in authority, so that they would not be the source of our destruction. A true believer assists the poor and those weaker than him, for Allah is continuously in the assistance of those who assist their brothers. A true believer does not suppress his subordinates: Allah (SWT) has forbidden Himself from suppressing us, and has made suppression among ourselves to be a forbidden act. A true believer congratulates whoever is blessed with something and condoles who is tried or afflicted with pain either in himself or his family. He does not shout at the people who request something from him because Allah said: “And repulse not the beggar.” He greets and sympathizes with the sick and escorts the dead to the grave so that it will remind him of his own approaching end.
May Allah include us among the occupants of the Paradise. May He forgive and overlook our shortcomings and have mercy upon us.

PART II
Glory is to Allah Who is very strict in His commands and wise in enforcing His wills. He commanded that He should be thanked and glorified just as He commanded that He be worshipped sincerely. May His peace and blessing be upon our leader Muhammad (SAW).
O you Muslims! It is not a good practice in religion for one to worship Allah while he is indeed ignorant of the methodologies of worship. That is why Allah said you should know Him first, before you worship Him. It is never being obedient to Allah to merely proclaim His Unity while in reality, one is either unmindful or irregular in other areas of religion; a true Muslim must enter into Islam totally by not practicing a part of it and disbelieving in part. For him there is no religion, whoever makes unlawful that which does not suit his purpose, while only that which favours him he considers lawful, without due respect to what is in the Book of Allah and the tradition of His noble Prophet (SAW): that was exactly the practice of the disbelieving Jews towards their Prophets. He is not a practicing Muslim who breaks the laws of Allah and does not keep his promises and vows. He is not having any faith in Allah, he who always says what is good to the hearing of people (either in religious matters or otherwise), while what he does in secret is indeed evil. Allah says:
“O you who believe! Why do you say that which you (yourself) do not practice? It is most hateful to Allah, that you say that which you do not do.”
In another verse He says:
أَتَأْمُرُونَ النَّاسَ بِالْبِرِّ وَتَنْسَوْنَ أَنْفُسَكُمْ وَأَنْتُمْ تَتْلُونَ الْكِتَابَ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ
“Do you enjoin righteousness on people and forget (to practice it) yourselves, while you recite the Scripture! Are you having no senses?”

It is a quality of a complete Muslim to be regular and so fearful of Allah in his prayers. He should be accurate in giving out Zakat. A Muslim should be able to keep his promises because he will surely be asked about them, and he should return trust to the rightful owner. He should be able to, not only affirm, but also be firm on his testimony. Allah says:

“For those who say our Lord is Allah and then stand by it, they shall neither fear (here), nor grieve (in the Hereafter). Those are the inheritors of Paradise, and they shall reside in it forever.”
A perfect religion is to worship Allah as though you are seeing Him in reality, leave that which you are in doubt of, to that which you are not in doubt of, and ask for guidance from those who know if you are ignorant of any issue, even if it is from your own child. And a good faith is for one to love for his brother what he loves for himself and for ones desire to be in accordance with what the Prophet (SAW) brought. And the sign of faithfulness and God-fearing is for one to remain within the boundary set for him; and the boundary of Allah are the things He prohibited, so don't cross in to them.
A Muslim does not tell lies in his speech no matter what it will cost him, because telling lies leads to evil and evil leads to Hell-Fire, and if one should continue to tell lies until telling lies becomes his habit, it will be written against him in the place of Allah, that he is a liar. He must not follow his heart desire especially if such desires are contrary to the wish of Allah. And as soon as he commits any sin, he purifies himself with the water of repentance.. If he hears someone calling to the Path of Allah, he readily answers such a call without delay and directs his affairs to no one but Allah. A Muslim always speak the truth even if it is against an unjust leader, because telling the truth leads to righteousness, and righteousness leads to Paradise, and if one continues to tell the truth until telling the truth becomes his habit, it will be written in the place of Allah that he is truthful. And he must always try to protect his integrity by not keeping company of bad friends.
Muslims cannot achieve all these until they do two things: guide their tongues against slander and backbiting, and then purify their hearts, for that is the first and only place where Allah will check before ascertaining who is righteous and who is not: if the heart is clean, the whole body (and of course actions) would be clean, and if it is bad, so would the body be, and the rest your actions too.

May Allah continue to guide us aright and make us the best Muslims we are suppose to be. May He also protect us from the evils of those who commit evil; men and women, the ones we know and the ones we don’t know, from among the humans and the Jinns.

WARNING AGAINST THE DISEASES OF ENVY, JEALOUSY AND HATRED AMONG MUSLIMS
In the Name of Allah Most Gracious Most Merciful
All praises are due to Allah for His endless favours and His unique kindness. He gives His favours to everyone: those who obey and those who disobey Him. He directed His Prophet and of course all of us, to seek refuge from the evil of the witchcraft when they blow in the knots, and from the evil of the envier when he envies. To Him belongs the Dominion and He Alone is to be relied on. We bear witness that none deserve to be worshipped but Him, to Him are attributed the most beneficial sayings. He commanded us to be just at all circumstances, which implies we must not envy one another, we must not hate one another and we must not interact with others in a dishonourable way. We also bear witness that our leader Muhammad (SAW) is His servant as well as Messenger and he is the truthful who always said the truth. He said in one of his traditions that:
‘I warn you against (the disease of) envy for it eats up the good deeds (of the envier) the way fire eats up dry wood.’
May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon the Prophet, his family members, his companions and those who follow their example of maintaining a clean heart and good etiquette.
O you Muslims! The diseases of envy and jealousy is indeed one of the highest diseases, and for one to be affected by it, is one of the highest and most difficult tests in life. This is because envy makes the envier to go astray, takes him farther away from Taqwa (The fear of Allah), it makes him rude and arrogant and makes him to follow his heart desire no matter how evil. The envier makes his heart to be very uncomfortable with the achievements of his fellow brother or sister and because there is nothing he/she can do to remove such blessings, it makes him sick whenever he sees the other person. His soul and life are a clear symbol of misery for it will seem to him/her, that Allah is partial in the provision of things. This makes the goodness in him/her to be so little or even nil, while his evil would be at its highest and he is always short of foresight.
The envier never sees any good in somebody and never speaks goods of anybody and his preoccupation is to plan negatively against others. Your beautiful clothes never go down well with him, even your healthy body makes him unhappy and so he opposes you openly and secretly. If you are educated, he says you are ignorant. If you are a petty trader or a common person, he never sees any dignity in you. If you are a businessperson, he considers you as one who cheats and eats out of the sweat of others. If you are a government official, he consider you to be the embodiment of corruption. If he sees you enjoying the same or similar privilege with him, or even when you have what he has not gotten, his heart becomes dark and gloomy.
All he wants is to be on top while others remain under his mercy or that nobody should have what he is not having. Unfortunately, you find a number of Muslims showing open enmity and hatred towards another brother because of envy founded and nurtured upon selfish motives.
For all these, such a person earns the anger of Allah and is causing himself to be withdrawn from the blessings of Allah for wishing such blessings to be withdrawn from others. The negative effects of envy is what makes Shaytan to be what he is, for he was jealous of the position of Prophet Adam (AS) above him and for envying the knowledge which Adam had got and not him. We all know that Shaytan used to be a righteous servant of Allah, residing in Paradise. He is what he is today, with bad image, surrounded by evils of whatever nature and certainty of being the leader of the occupants of Hell, because he envied Prophet Adam (AS). Adam (AS) was created from clay and was given more knowledge than him while he was created out of fire and he is supposed to be more superior. So, he felt too big to bow down to Adam even after he was commanded to do so by Allah. And as it happened to Shaytan it can happen to any other person; the end of those who envy others is total humiliation in this life and the next except if they repent.
The son of Prophet Adam (AS), Qaabil did not kill his brother Haabil except for his unhappiness that Allah accepted the offering of his brother and rejected his own: both of them offered sacrifice to Allah, and the person whose sacrifice was accepted was going to marry one of their sisters for the purpose of procreation. Allah accepted that of Haabil because his mind was more pious and purer than that of Qaabil. Allah says in the Glorious Qur’an:
فَطَوَّعَتْ لَهُ نَفْسُهُ قَتْلَ أَخِيهِ فَقَتَلَهُ فَأَصْبَحَ مِنَ الْخَاسِرِينَ
“So his soul (i.e. Qaabil) encouraged him and made it seem fair to him, to murder his brother; he murdered him and became one of the losers.”
For killing his brother because he did not want his brother to marry a woman he himself wanted to marry, Allah said he became a loser. Therefore, whoever envies his brother for what Allah gives him of blessings and favours shall end up a loser through ways he do not expect.
The people of Mecca refused to embrace Islam when it was revealed to them initially not because they actually disbelieved in it. It was out of envy that the religion was not brought by the rich and the powerful people of Arabia, but through an ordinary man: Muhammad the son of Abdullah, who was before then, an employee in the business of a woman. So they say:
وَقَالُوا لَوْلَا نُزِّلَ هَذَا الْقُرْآَنُ عَلَى رَجُلٍ مِنَ الْقَرْيَتَيْنِ عَظِيمٍ
“Why is not this Qur’an sent down to some great men of the two towns (i.e. Mecca and Medina).”
And we all know that the hatred of Jews and their allies for Islam and Muslims was because of their envy. Allah says concerning them:
وَدَّ كَثِيرٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ لَوْ يَرُدُّونَكُمْ مِنْ بَعْدِ إِيمَانِكُمْ كُفَّارًا حَسَدًا مِنْ عِنْدِ أَنْفُسِهِمْ مِنْ بَعْدِ مَا تَبَيَّنَ لَهُمُ الْحَقُّ
“Many of the people of the Scripture wishes they could turn you to disbelievers after you have believed, (and that) out of their envy of you, even after the truth has become manifest unto them.”
O you Muslims! Know it, that Islam totally prohibits envy. Allah ordered His Messenger to seek refuge against the evils of the envious people, because envy is just like a flaming fire in the heart of the envier, which he set to burn himself. An envious person wishes that the favours bestowed upon other people would no longer exist, and that such favours would become his only. Such a person is like an epidemic against whose ill effect the society should be warned. Islam is therefore calling Muslims to avoid, and to go farther away from envy and jealousy for what Allah have blessed others with, above them.
Envy when it occurs, usually takes place among counterparts, relations or people of similar characteristics. But as Muslims, we must learn to live with the fact that for us to establish a good and happy society is for us to be free from envy and hatred of one another, and that people of diverse and similar characteristic are created for the purpose of living together. Even though naturally, no one would like another person to be superior to him in any way, but this human weakness should not be a basis on which hatred and disunity would be nurtured. Moreover, for us to achieve this, we must have confidence in Allah and be contented with His Decrees.
May Allah include us among the occupants of the Paradise. May He forgive and overlook our shortcomings and forgive the sins of all Muslim men and women.

PART II
Glory be to Allah Who is very strict in His commands and wise in enforcing His wills. He commanded that He should be thanked and glorified just as He commanded that He be worshipped sincerely. May His peace and blessing be upon our leader Muhammad (SAW) who says:
‘I warn you of envy because envy eats up good deeds the way fire eats up wood.’
Despite this warning, today, you will see a Muslim hating another Muslim simply because of the progress the other person is making in life. This no doubt is a madness caused by severe illness of the heart. The Prophet (SAW) has told us already:
‘Behold, in the body there is a flesh, if it is good, the whole body is good, and if it is bad the whole body is bad. And that flesh is the heart.’
Muslims are seriously warned to move away from Shaytan, because he is to them an open enemy. He is a business person and he sells his commodities to whoever presents himself as a buyer. He sells hatred and envy to those who have knowledge and those who have attained a certain degree of achievement in life. He sells injustice and maltreatment to leaders who take charge of peoples’ affairs and their close advisers. He sells deception to women and those whose heart are either weak or dead. And he sells cheating in its entire ramification to businessmen and women. The worst trade is that of Shaytan, the worst commodity are the things he sells and the worst person is the one who falls for the advert of Shaytan and buys out of his commodities.
We all know that Muslims were not divided into sects and groups; their might was not greatly reduced until when they allow hatred and envy to form part of their character and competition towards gaining more than one another in worldly things is evidently seen to be promoted among them. We cannot run away from the fact that, there will never be unity and progress in a society where one brother is unhappy with his other brother simply because the other brother have gotten more wealth, knowledge or charisma, or because one is having a higher position than another. Allah Himself did not create people to be the same in all spheres of life; some must be higher than others. He says to the envious people:
أَهُمْ يَقْسِمُونَ رَحْمَةَ رَبِّكَ نَحْنُ قَسَمْنَا بَيْنَهُمْ مَعِيشَتَهُمْ فِي الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا وَرَفَعْنَا بَعْضَهُمْ فَوْقَ بَعْضٍ دَرَجَاتٍ لِيَتَّخِذَ بَعْضُهُمْ بَعْضًا سُخْرِيًّا
“Is it they who would portion out the mercy of your Lord? It is We Who portion out between them their livelihood in this world, and we raised some of them above others in ranks, so that some may employ others in their work.”
People will still be good so long as they do not envy each other, but once they cannot control their heart, they will corrupt the relationships between each other and will be doomed to loss because envy erases all traces of goodness in the heart of the envier. The Prophet (SAW) says:
‘Envy spoils Eeman (faith) the way time spoils or changes the taste of honey.’
For this and many, more reasons O Muslims! Do not hate, envy or be jealous of one another. Do not create unnecessary hatred among yourselves and do not interact with, or treat one another unjustly. You are therefore supposed to be competing in doing good deeds and not to envy the good in others.
May Allah protect our hearts from the wound of envy and from the evil of the envier when he envies. May He also save us from the evils of those who commit evil; men and women, the ones we know and the ones we don’t know, from among the humans and the Jinns.

Alex Badeh: The Price of Corruption

“If we don’t kill corruption, corruption will kill us.” - Muhammadu Buhari

Last night when the news of ex CDS Alex Badeh’s murder was broken, I did not immediately believe it. I thought that it was one of those fake news that have characterized the social media and by extension the Nigerian media of late. But when I saw the same report on the website of reputable media houses, I knew that the incident wasn’t fake but still doubted its reality. Nigeria is a theatre of absurdity and we live in strange times. It could have been an advanced version of Dino Melaye’s 11 hours on the tree top drama, I thought.

Later when I saw the unfortunate pictures of his lifeless body lying helplessly in his car, I knew that Alex Badeh had been assassinated by yet to be identified assailants. Therefore, I wish to express my sincere condolences to his family, friends and now former associates, while calling on government to immediately put everything in place to ensure that the perpetrators of this heinous crime are brought to book.

One of my best friend’s favorite quotes back in our undergraduate days is, “If you shy away from your responsibilities, you can never escape its consequences.” And while many Nigerians are busy accusing government of not doing enough to protect citizens, with some wondering what the fate of the ordinary citizen would be, if ex military chiefs could be killed like chickens (General Alikali and now Badeh), I chose to look at the bigger picture instead.

Alex Badeh, to me is a victim of the monster that he helped create and nurture. The guy allegedly stole money meant to buy arms to combat terror and criminality. He’s standing trial before an Abuja Federal High Court and will on Jan. 16, 2019 open his defence in the alleged N3.97 billion fraud charge preferred against him by the Federal Government.(https://www.vanguardngr.com/2018/11/alleged-n3-97bn-fraud-badeh-to-open-defence-jan-16/)

Whether he diverted the money alone or in connivance with others, that 3.97 billion naira could have been put to better use to combat crimes and terrorism if not diverted. Remember also that the EFCC in February last year had admitted before the court that it found $1m cash inside of Badeh’s bedroom (https://www.vanguardngr.com/2017/02/alleged-n3-9bn-fraud-recovered-1m-badehs-bedroom-efcc/).

Nothing justifies his murder as he’s by law innocent until proven guilty, but Badeh clearly abused his office to enrich himself at the expense of the security of the nation. Now, the chickens have come home to roost. It’s unfortunate. The Mubi born Air Force chief did nothing to protect his own people of Mubi when Boko Haram struck in November 2014. In fact, an unverified media account claimed that he moved his family in an helicopter a few hours before the attack. The claim was later debunked by DHQ.

As we mourn the exit of Badeh, I hope that all other persons occupying public positions and privileges will learn that the price of corruption is too high to pay. Today, the Boko Haram menace still stares us in the face as though monies were not budgeted and released for military wares. Over $2.1 meant to purchase arms was allegedly diverted by the NSA, Colonel Sambo Dasuki. How heartless can a man be?

Public officials whether elected or appointed who are abusing their offices should know that the monster they help create today will, sooner or later come back to haunt and hunt them and their children. Our health sector is in a terrible state. Poor citizens are dying of ailments that could have been treated here if government had provided the needed facilities. The rich elite jet out of the country to seek treatment over minor head or toothache. Plying the Abuja-Kaduna highway has become synonymous with suicide. Bandits and kidnappers have almost taken over the forests between Sokoto and Zamfara. No where seems to be safe again in this country. Yet, the only things on the minds of the ruling elites is the next general elections!!!

Like the popular saying goes, the chickens will always come home to roost.

Adieu, Badeh!!!

THE 200TH KHUTBAH DELIVERED AT AREA 10 JUMA’AH MASJID ABUJA, BY IMAM YAHYA AL-YOLAWI, ON 30th NOV. 2018 / 22 R/AWWAL 1440AH

TOPIC: EFFECTS OF BRIBERY AND CORRUPTION

We give thanks to Allah (SWT), we ask Him the most high to continue to shower His mercy upon the leader of humanity, Prophet Muhammad (SAW). His house hold, His companions and those who follow his guidance until the day of Qiyaamah.
To proceed; My Dear respected brothers and sisters in Islam; Today’s khutbah will discuss the topic: Effects of Bribery and corruption in Islamic perspective.
Bribery simply means giving something to someone through whom a person takes in return some benefits which he / she has no right to; while corruption can be seen as a dishonest behavior of an office holder seeking illegitimate personal gain. It includes giving or accepting bribes or inappropriate gifts, laundering money, double-dealing, diverting funds, under-the-table transactions and so on. For example: bribing a judge to get verdict in favour (wrongfully), or bribing an official to give him preference over others or to get other favours like allocation of a contract etc.
VERSES AND AHADITH ON BRIBERY AND CORRUPTION

Do not consume one another’s wealth unjustly: Allah [SWT] says: “ And do not consume one another’s wealth unjustly or sent it[in bribery] to the rulers in order that [they might aid] you [to] consume a portion of wealth of the people in sin, while you know [it is unlawful]. Q2:189
In this verse bribery and corruption are clearly prohibited by Allah [SWT]. Allah prohibits us from eating property of others sinfully. Likewise giving bribe to the rulers. And when bribery comes take part in, eating another’s right is bound to come into effect.

In another verse Allah [SWT] says: “ [ they are] keen listeners to falsehood, devourers of [what is] unlawful. So if they come to you, [O Muhammad], judge between them or turn away from them.. And if you turn away from them – never will they herm you at all….”Q5:43

In another narration, Abu Hurairah (RA) narrated: Allah’s Messenger (PBUH) cursed the one who bribes and the one who takes a bribe for judgment. ( At-Tirmidhi)

EFFECTS OF BRIBERY AND CURRUPTION ON THE SOCIETY
Below are some of the negative consequences corruptions.
1.Lack of quality in goods and services.
2.Poor standard of education in the nation
3.Youth Unemployment
4. Half bake graduates
5. Poverty and Criminalities
6. lost of innocent lives.
7. Poor Health and hygiene
8. Lack of proper justice
9. Insecurity
10. High rate of Road Accidents
11. Lack of respect for rulers
12. Lack of faith and trust in leadership:

Certainly, corruption is not a new thing in human societies. It is an old bad character, which causes tremendous harm to society through out the history.

Frankly speaking, corruption exists when a person in power has the right to
make decisions that concern others whose interests are at stake. The interested parties
will try to find ways and means of getting what they want. One of the common ways
is to offer the person in power certain favours so that the decision is made in his
favour. This could happen only if the decision maker is willing to accept the favours
offered to him. On the other hand, if the person in power is not willing to accept such favors, then the process stops there. Unfortunately, it is not as simple. The interested party is not going to stop there either. If he thinks that the stake is too big to loose, he may be willing to give more until it becomes too much to refuse. It is also true that the disease can start from the person in power due to his greediness or selfish interest saying("but everybody does it!"wink.

REMEDIES OR SOLUTIONS TO BRIBERY AND CURRUPTION IN THE SOCIETY
Below are some of the things that can serve as remedy to this nation killer.
1. At taqwa God-fearing: Lets us fear Allah [SWT] and work on our hearts to eliminate the greediness and selfish interest, which seem to be the seed of bribery and corruption.
2. Safe guide yourself by learning from mistakes of others, who are currently suffering from their bad actions.
3. Remember that any part of your body developed out of haram is a potion reserved for fire.
4. Beware of prayers and supplications of oppressed person against you as Allah [Swt] will grand it for him.
5. Leadership and public funds are trust [amana] and Allah [SWT] will going to ask you on how you go about it.

Conclusion
All of us know that bribery and corruption are one of the major sins in islam [kabaa’ ir] which leads to destruction of lives and properties and at the end invites Allah’s curse and anger to a person. Let’s always think of what are the after-effects of bribe we take in. lets all work on our hearts to eliminate the disease of greed and selfish interest which turn out to be the seed of bribery and corruption in Nigeria.
Stay away from it and If you cannot stop it, then at least you can do your best by supporting the fight against it and not being a part of it in any manner to save ourselves and our great nation Nigeria.
Allah [SWT] says: “ indeed, Allah will not change the condition of a people until they change what is in themselves….” Allah knows the best.

May Allah forgive me where I am wrong and guide us to the right path…Ameen.

Finally, We ask Allah the most high, to continue to guide and protect our Iman. May He [SWT] assist us and ease our tasks in this world and in the hereafter. O Allah grant us peace in our hearts, peace in our homes, peace in our working places and eliminate bribery and corruption in our country Nigeria. Ameen

THE 196TH SERMON DELIVERED AT AREA 10 JUMA'AH MASJID ABUJA, BY IMAM YAHYA AL-YOLAWI, ON 23th SAFAR 1440 AH /2ND NOV. 2018

COMMANDING WHAT IS GOOD AND FORBIDDING EVIL IS A COLLECTIVE RESPONSIBILITY

In the name of Allah the Most Gracious the most Merciful

Respected brothers and sisters in Islam, Today's sermon will discuss the topic: Commanding what is good and forbidding evil is a responsibility for all…

The act of commanding what is right and forbidding what is wrong is one of the most important Islamic teachings, stressed again and again in the Qur'an and Hadith. In fact, this can be seen as the most significant Islamic principle; for, if this principle is duly practiced in the community, then, as a result, all other teachings of Islam will also be practiced, while if this one principle is ignored then the rest of Islamic teachings will also gradually come to be ignored.

Commanding what is right and forbidding what is wrong provides an instrument whereby the Muslim Ummah can fight against various moral, social, economic and spiritual ills/ corruption and maintain a healthy and active life as individual and the society at large. Abdullahi ibn Mas'ud was once asked, "Who are the living dead?" and he replied, "Those who never command something good and never forbid something bad". A similar point is made in that well known Hadith in which the Prophet (SAW) is reported to have said:

"If one of you sees something wrong, let him change it with his hand; if he cannot, then with his tongue; if he cannot, then with his heart and this is the weakest iman." Some versions add: "there is no part of faith behind that, not even so much as a mustard seed."

Some of the verses and ahadith on commanding what is good and forbidding what is bad includes:

1. Commanding what is good and forbidding evil is a responsibility for all…..
Allah (SWT) says: "You are the best nation produced [as an example] for mankind. You enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong and believe in Allah…"Q3:111

2. Its lead to success: Allah says: "And let there be [arising] from you a nation (people) inviting to [all that is] good, enjoining what is right and forbidding what is wrong, and those will be the successful. And do not be like the ones who became divided and differed after the clear proofs had come to them. And those will have a great punishment". Q3:104 He also says " Indeed, mankind is in loss, Except for those who have believed and done righteous deeds and advised each other to truth and advised each other to patience. Q103:1-3

3. Failure to do so can lead to the curse of Allah.
Allah says : "Cursed were those who disbelieved among the Children of Israel by the tongue of David and of Jesus, the son of Mary. That was because they disobeyed and [habitually] transgressed. They used not to prevent one another from wrongdoing that they did. How wretched was that which they were doing. 5.78-9
If the Muslims fails to do its duty of reminding and enjoining what is good and forbidding what is evil, wrongdoing and corruption will spread throughout the ummah, and it will deserve the curse of Allah.
4. Luqman's advice to his son- a lesson for parents:
"O my son, establishes prayer, enjoin what is right, forbid what is wrong, and be patient over what befalls you. Indeed, [all] that is of the matters [requiring] determination."Q:31:17
5. Leaders’ most important responsibilities in muslim ummah : "…[And they are] those who, if We give them authority in the land, establish prayer and give zakah and enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong. And to Allah belongs the outcome of [all] matters.".Q22.40
6. It is a duty for all to command good and forbid evil… The Prophet ( SAW) was reported to have said : "Whoever sees an evil action, let him change it with his hand [by taking action]; and if he cannot, then with his tongue [by speaking out]; and if he cannot, then with his heart [by feeling that it is wrong] - and that is the weakest of faith." (Muslim, 49)
7. Cooperation in righteousness and piety is highly encouraged in Islam, "… And cooperate in righteousness and piety, but do not cooperate in sin and aggression. And fear Allah; indeed, Allah is severe in penalty."Q5:2

METHODS OF COMMANDING GOOD AND FORBIDDING THE EVIL

There are, broadly speaking, three ways of commanding good and forbidding evil:
1) By hand, i.e. action, which includes military, political or legal actions.
2) By words, sometimes in written, soft or harsh, sometimes by media, religious leaders pulpit, and sometimes by whistle blowing while sometimes, is private and sometimes open and public as Qur'an stated in surat Nuh.

3) By feelings, which include feelings of approval for what is right and of disapproval for what is wrong. It also includes praying in one's heart for the establishment of what is right and the destruction of what is wrong.

THINGS CONSIDERED TO BE GOOD OR EVIL
Good deeds simply means right, actions, acceptable to all and beneficial act to humanity, and to act in accordance with Allah and Messenger's injunctions, content, do and don't while bad or evil once are contrary to those principles.
Allah (SWT) says:
" Indeed, Allah orders justice and good conduct and giving to relatives and forbids immorality and bad conduct and oppression. He admonishes you that perhaps you will be reminded. And fulfill the covenant of Allah when you have taken it, [O believers], and do not break oaths after their confirmation while you have made Allah, over you, a witness. Indeed, Allah knows what you do." Q16;90-91
Consequences of not t Enjoining Good or Forbidding Evil include:
1- Allah’s anger and curse upon the people and throwing differences amongst them.
This happened to the children of Israel, as the prophet (S.A.W.) told us: Imams Abu-Dawod, At-Trmithi and others reported an authentic hadith that the prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.) said: "The first depravity (in deen) crept in the children of Israel in the way that man would meet another and say to him: Fear Allah and abstain from what you are doing, for this is not lawful for you. Then he would meet him the next day and find no change in him, but this would not prevent him from eating with him, drink with him and sitting in his assemblies. When it comes to this, Allah lead there hearts into evil ways on account of their association with others. Then he recited, "Cursed were those who disbelieved among the Children of Israel by the tongue of David and of Jesus, the son of Mary. That was because they disobeyed and [habitually] transgressed. They used not to prevent one another from wrongdoing that they did. How wretched was that which they were doing.
{From surat Al-Ma'dah, (Verses 78&79)}
Then he continued: " Indeed, by Allah, you either enjoin good and forbid evil and catch hold of the hand of the oppressor and persuade him to act justly and stick to the truth, or, Allah will involve the hearts of some of you with the hearts of others and will curse you as he had cursed them." {Abu Dawud and At-Tirmidhi}
Muslims have been struck with the same diseases. They are afflicted with hardship, conflict and various kinds of differences in their hearts. These are consequences of halting the enjoining what is good and forbidding what is evil. This situation will continue till we embrace Islam again in our lives.
2- Allah’s punishment for the people and ignoring their supplication.
Imam At-Trmithi reported a good hadith that the prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.) said: "By Him in whose hand my soul is, you either enjoin good and forbid evil, or Allah will certainly soon send His punishment to you. Then you will make supplication and it will not be accepted."
Imams Abu-Dawod and At-Trmithi reported an authentic narration that Abu Bakr As-Sedeeq (R.A.) said: "O you people! You recite this verse: "O you who believe! Take care of your own-selves. If you follow the guidance no harm come to you from those who are in error." But I have heard the Messenger of Allah saying: " When people see an oppressor but do not prevent him from doing evil, it is likely that Allah will punish them all."
Muslims are afflicted with various kinds of punishment. Their supplication is being ignored by Allah (S.W.T.). This is a direct consequence of halting enjoining what is good and forbidding what is evil. This will continue until we embrace Islam again in our lives.

The prophet (S.A.W.) gave us a great example that clarifies the fact that when evil doers corrupt a society while the good doers do not forbid them from doing evil, they will all be punished and destroyed including the good doers. Imams Bukhari and others reported that the prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.) said: "The likeness of the man who observes the limits prescribed by Allah and that of the man who transgresses them is like the people who get on board a ship after casting lots. Some of them are in its lower deck and some of them in its upper deck. Those who are in its lower deck, when they require water, go to the occupants of the upper deck, and say to them: If we make a hole in the bottom of the ship, we shall not harm the ones who are in the upper deck. If they leave them to carry out their design they all will be drowned. But if they do not let them go ahead (with their plan), all of them will remain safe."
Imams Bukhari and Muslim reported that the prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.) said: "…Woe to the Arabs because of the evil which has drawn near!…" Zainab, his wife, said: O Allah's Messenger! Shall we perish while still there will be righteous people among us? He replied, "Yes, when wickedness abounds.”
We should be cautious not to fall for evil. We should forbid the evil doers from making a hole in the ship of the society so that the ship will not drown with its good doers and evil doers because of corruption, kidnapping, immoralities and other criminalities.
The Muslim ummah is one entity, and if corruption, dishonesty, bad characters, evil, immoralities prevails and becomes widespread its consequences are bad not only in this world rather it will extend to here after, then all the Muslims not only scholars and imams are obliged to reform it, rid it of evil things, corruption and immoralities enjoin what is good and forbid what is bad, and offer sincere advice to all most especially to the leaders.
We ask Allah the most high, to continue to protect our religion, our lives and safe guard our iman and that of our families in this world and in the hereafter.

Ameen.

New Minimum wage not ready – NLC President
NLC BLOG.

President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Ayuba Wabba has said that the National Minimum Wage Committee was yet to submit its report to the President because it was yet to agree on a figure and the failure of the federal government to come up with a figure to be agreed upon.

Wabba said in a interview in his office that while the committee has concluded its deliberation, the Minister of Labour told the Committee that the federal government needed to consult before coming up with its own figure, a position he said negates the earlier agreement to work within its timeline.

The Minister had told newsmen in Anambra that state governors were frustrating the work of the committee, but Wabba said 21 states actually made presentation to the committee with many of quoting figures while some other said they would abide by whatever decision was arrived at.

He said organised Labour has called a meeting all its organs with a view to informing them of the development, pointing out that a definite position will be announced after the meeting as the minimum wage is already two years behind the scheduled date.

This news must be political motivated in an attempt to relegate the image of the government.. A Yoruba adage says in the day elephant will die, various knifes will be displayed.

It is expected that politicians will be throwing stones of destruction at each other as election is vast approaching. Otherwise, there is no reason why fulani herdsmen will aimlessly butcher innocent people in this manner.

Proudly Aboki!

WHAT IS ALL THE RHETORICS ABOUT THE ABOKIS:

Aboki only writes and speaks English under duress because Aboki already has a matured, developed language to speak and to write. Aboki has had a civilised administrative system before the whites ever thought of coming. Aboki wore clothes at a time when the "noisy neighbors" were roaming around naked! Aboki established the "biggest", most sophisticated empire in west Africa as far back as the 18th century. Aboki, just like the English, French, Chinese could read and write in his own language as far back as the 14th century. The architectural masterpiece of the Aboki was therefore everyone as far back as 1423. Aboki was never enslaved, nor sold to slavery or chained like an animal by any European or Caucasian race! The Aboki people are the largest and most spread people in west Africa! Aboki's language is most widely spoken language in west Africa, third most in Africa! Aboki's language is so important that the British, American, German, French, and Chinese broadcasting all have it's service being aired! Aboki was the richest in the 50's (Alhassan Dantata), richest in the 80's (Maideribe), and richest in the 21st century (Dangote). And these were what the whites observed before they decided bequeathing "ruling power" to the Aboki when they were leaving.

"Killing of 19 Worshippers Including Two Catholic Priests; Court Remanded Tashaku And 5 Others.

A Chief Magistrates’ Court in Benue State, presided over by Isaac Ajim, has remanded the Commander of Livestock Guard, Alhaji Tashaku Aliyu, for the death of two priests and 17 worshippers at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Ukpor, Ayar, Mbalom in Gwer East Local Government.

Five other suspects remanded are Husseini Manga, Ngyohov Shin, David Akenawe, Agada Tsesaa and Tarza Orvanya all of them from Benue State!!! No single Fulani involved!!!

When the Kogi incident happened, many newspapers and blogs quickly attributed it to Herdsmen killing, at the end of the day, it was realised that we are the one killing ourselves in Kogi.

When the Ozobulu massacre happened, some "eye witnesses" rushed to social media that the killers looked like Fulanis and were speaking Arabic languages. Within short period, it WS discovered that the people killed themselves because of drug money.

When the Kwara massacre happened, many tagged it Fulani invasion until investigations quashed that trash, and people realised that killings and maiming has no tribal concentration.

This is the point I keep hammering on; many of us are hypocrites, we 'condemn' and show 'sympathy' to score cheap political points, not because we care. Instead of condemning negative actions against humanity, we look for every opportunity to extract sentiments for personal, tribal, religion and political gains. This is not the context and concept of Christianity and Islam and even Traditionalism.

Now the Newspapers like The Punch, Vanguard, The Sun, The Moon, The Stars and others have muted, they have failed to report the turnaround now because it didn't sync with their agendas. And for the "Activists" who call the Fulanis all sort of names instead of condemning the killing in it's entirety, tell me, how will you reconcile with your conscience?

Paul wrote in James 1:19; "Be swift to hear and slow to speak", its necessary because we will account for every single words and even actions at the end of the day. (Matt. 12:37).

Hypocrisy is the largest religion in Nigeria.

AIR FORCE GIRLS COMPREHENSIVE SCHOOL-ABUJA.
FRIDAY SERMON.

TOPIC: PREPARATION FOR THE COMENCEMENT OF RAMADAN.

BY: NASIRUDDEEN ABDULLAHI ISA.

In the Name of Allah Most Gracious Most Merciful.

Glory be to Allah (SWT) Who, out of His Mercy favours us by making us followers of the best person and leader of all creation, and for making the religion of Islam to overshadow all other religions, and for making all acts in the religion to be beneficial to us in this life and the next.

We thank Him Almighty for His abundant blessings and for the provisions which we cannot quantify. We testify that He alone is Lord, having no partner and we ask from Him the beautiful things of this life and that of the Hereafter. We do testify also, that our leader Muhammad (SAW) is His servant and messenger and that he indeed delivered the divine Message of guidance to the right path. May Allah bless him more, along with his family, companions and all of us.

In a few days to come, we will Insha-Allah enter into the month of Ramadhan, so this sermon discusses the preparation towards the commencement of the fasting and the need to gear our minds towards gaining the benefits of the mouth. Ramadan as we know is the month of compulsory fasting for all matured Muslims.

It is a month of extensive Qur’anic recitation and a month in which we are encouraged to feed the poor and the less privileged. The idea behind it therefore, is to call us to submit ourselves totally to Allah by a renewed struggle while experiencing for 29 or 30 days, what the poor have been experiencing all through their lives by abstaining from food, drink, sex and bad behaviours from dawn to sunset with the intention of self purification.

So prepare well and turn your minds towards a lot of Ibadah and generosity to people in this blessed month. Remember:

“Whatever good you send before you is for yourselves (and) you will certainly find it with Allah even better and greater in reward.” (Quran 72:20).

The month of Ramadan is so important to you as a Muslim, because it was in it that Allah sent our leader Muhammad (SAW) as a Prophet and Messenger. It was in it Muslims fought and defeated the unbelievers of Mecca in the battle of Badr. It was in it, the prophet opened the gates of Mecca and conquered it after 10years of exile and it was in it the first revelation of the Qur’an came to Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

No matter what are the seemingly difficult task the Ramadan will bring of hunger, thirsty and body weakness, we must be happy with its coming because its beginning is blessing, its middle forgiveness and its end liberation from the Hell-fire. It was reported that Allah said to Prophet Musa (AS), He is giving us the light of Ramadan and the light of Qur’an, so that they cannot be harmed by the darkness of the grave and that of the Day of judgment. And to round it up He said, all the deeds of man are for himself except fasting, that belongs to Him, and He alone knows its reward.

The Holy Prophet (SAW), when the month of Ramadan comes, used to intensify all acts of worship and increased in feeding the poor and in being generous to all for the sake of Allah. This is because in such a month, it is as if shops and stores of reward are being opened wide, only for people to make the intention, volunteer and enter these shops and grab them.

Even the companions of the Prophet (pbuh) used to complete the recitation of the Glorious Qur’an in the prayers of Tarawih addition to spending a better share of their wealth for the sick and the healthy alike, “And have in (their) mind no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return, except only the desire to seek the countenance of (their) Lord, the Most high” (Quran 92:19-20) what a unique intention and selfless desire?

The Qur’an said for all of us, there are beautiful and emulative acts from the Prophet (SAW) and his companions for us to copy. You are therefore encouraged, to prepare very well for a lot of Ibadah and to show compassion towards everyone in the month you are about to enter. Remember, “Whatever good you send before you for yourselves, you will certainly find it with Allah, better and greater in reward.” (Quran 73:20).

PART II

Thanks be to Allah (SWT). We praise Him, ask for His help, seek for His forgiveness and look up to His guidance. For whomever He guided will not go astray and whoever leads himself astray for him there is no guidance.

In a few days to come, we would enter into the month of Ramadan and I thus advise you and myself in it, to turn our hearts and tongues towards the remembrance and glorification of Allah. Be frequent in attending mosques and establishing regular prayers. Think a lot about both the commands and prohibitions of Allah with the view to guarding them, love one another and seek for Allah’s forgiveness, for in Ramadan, Allah (SWT) forgives all sins for which you seek for his forgiveness.

It is worth it, preparing well for a month that is best of all months and the best of days which comes but once a year. I have the honour to announce to you the coming of this holy month the way the Messenger of Allah (SAW) used to announce it to his companions. He used to say: ‘Here comes to you the Holy month of Ramadan whose fasting Allah made compulsory. In it, the doors of heaven are opened and the doors of Hell-fire are closed and the devil and his agents are chained.’ Why then shouldn’t a believer be happy with such a month whose beginning is mercy, whose middle is forgiveness and whose end is emancipation from fire? We have every cause to be happy with the coming of a month about which Allah (SWT) says to prophet Musa (AS): “I am giving the people of Muhammad two lights, so that they would not be harmed by double darkness.”  Prophet Musa (AS) asked, “And what are the two lights O Lord?” Allah says: “The lights of Ramadan and that of Qur’an.”  Prophet Musa (AS) asked again: “And what is the double darkness O Lord?” Allah says: “The darkness of the grave and that of the Day of Judgment.”

Concerning the sighting of the Ramadan crescent, the Prophet (SAW) says:

‘If you sight it begin fasting and if you sights it (another crescent), break the fast, but if you could not see the crescent due to clouds, then count the days of Sha’aban to be thirty.’ (Reported by Bukhari).

And for those who usually welcome Ramadan by fasting a day or two before Ramadhan proper, the Prophet was reported to have said:

‘No body should fast a day or two preceding Ramadan, except for a man who is a habitual faster (or one who bow to fast, like one who intends to fast the whole of Sha’aban); if these two days happen to fall among the days in which he fasts, then let him fast.’ (Reported by Bukhari).

And another major problem of Muslims in some parts of the world, particularly West Africa and indeed Nigeria, when it comes to Ramadhan, is the issue of sighting the crescent upon which the commencement of the fasting depends. This has been a threat to the unity of Muslims, at-least in this country as we know, four issues always comes up in this regard:

(1)  That why, is the new moon always sighted in one part of the country and not the other? We should know that sectionalism, tribalism or politics as its being played today, are totally irrelevant in the Islamic brotherhood. Islam is always a single state and Muslims irrespective of their tribes are the indivisible citizens of that state. In our local case, we have to consider the fact that the atmosphere in one part of the country is always cloudy compared to the other that is relatively clear. If we are to be unbiased, which of the parts do we expect the tiny crescent to be sighted?

(2)  That why are the months of Ramadhan and the one preceding it always 29 and not 30 days, despite the fact that the days of the Islamic months are not fixed? While it is true that Islamic months can be either 29 or 30 days, neither Allah nor the Prophets categorically mention which one would have 29 and which ones would have 30 days. The calculation is only human, which may or may not be in conformity with what Allah decreed. So that shouldn’t be a basis upon which to build an argument.

(3)   Others would want to see the crescent themselves before they commence fasting. What the Prophet says was: ‘If (the crescent) is sighted commences fasting and if another crescent is sighted drop it’.  He did not say ‘If you see it’ which means any other person can see it, at least two people who have not been known to be liars and deceitful. In a Hadith, a man went to the Prophet (SAW) and said he has seen the Ramadan crescent. The Prophet asked him: ‘Do you believe nobody is to be worshipped except Allah?’ He said ‘Yes’. ‘Do you believe Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah?’ He said ‘Yes’. The Prophet said to Bilal: ‘Make the announcement to people that they should commence fasting tomorrow.’ (Reported by Ibn Hibban).
This shows that the only thing you need to know about the person who says he has seen the moon is for him to be a Muslim and that is all.

(4)   For the group who hold the opinion that the moon cannot be seen in the early hours of the morning and then be seen that same evening as a new crescent, they rest their arguments on the explanations of some scholars in their books of Tafsir, that the moon appear for only 28days and disappears for 2days in a month of 30 days, while it appears for 28days and disappears for a day in a month of 29 days. People should know that this fact is not universal; it is only peculiar to the places where the authors of such observations originated and other areas of the same climatic condition.

And if this is an argument to hold, what then happens to the regions of the earth where it is established that the moon appears continuously throughout the period of its cycle; and disappears not for a day, talk-less of two days? This apart, neither the Qur’an nor the Hadith said the moon even disappears at all for any reason, what Allah says is: “And the moon, We have measured for it path (to traverse) till it returns like the old dried curved date stalk.” (Quran 36:39).

What this verse says is, the moon neither disappears, but it reduces in size such that it will be difficult for the ordinary eye to see. And since in all cases there are exceptions the exception here is that, Allah can cause some people to sight it due to the strength of their observation.

A time, these problems are caused by the Muslims themselves, in the sense that so many of us don’t even know the names of the Islamic months not even to talk of the dates. It is only when the Ramadhan approaches that we begin to argue on whether it is time for the new moon to be seen or not. We must be conscious of the Islamic dates all year round, so as to be able to present our cases base on knowledge and reasoning. And lest we forget, as soon as the moon is sighted and announced, you must go to bed with the intention of commencing fasting the next day. The Prophet (SAW) says: ‘Whoever did not make the intention to fast before the coming of dawn, for him there is no fasting.’ (Ibn Hibban).

Among people, there are some, who are earnestly waiting for Ramadhan with the sole intention of intensifying their Ibadah, but unknown to them, their time on earth has come to end: “No person knows what he will do tomorrow, and no person knows in what land he will die.” (Quran 31:34). As we are waiting for Ramadhan, we should remember that the Holy Prophet (SAW) has forbidden us from commencing fasting a day or two before the moon is sighted (as a welcome to Ramadan) as some people do, except if it is the habit of one to fast on such days.

If we are among those who would witness the month of Ramadhan, may we witness it in sound health and high Islamic spirit. May Allah (SWT) give us the ability to work hard in it and may He give us the full reward of our righteous deeds.

PoliticsRe: "Take Danjuma's Warning Serious" - APC Chairman In Scandinavia Advises FG by Nasiruddeen(m): 9:51pm On Mar 25, 2018
I will understand TY Danjuma's outrage if he was referring to the killings in Benue where the herdsmen are more of culprits than victims. But talking about Taraba where Danjuma's people massacred about 700 fulanis including women and children is absurd to say the least.

The Taraba anti-Fulani pogrom was so barbaric that the military commander GOC Ben Ahanotu, who is Igbo and Christian, confessed to have never seen such 'gruesome devastation' in his entire military career. Children were hacked to death and even pregnant wombs were not spared.

Fulani leaders, through the emir of Kano have since submitted a report with evidence detailing the extent of the destruction on Fulani lives and properties, with video evidence of how officials at the state level (who are Danjuma's people and political boys), aided and abetted the genocide. Danjuma's failure to leverage on his relationship with Buhari to stop the investigations precipitated his outburst.

Danjuma claimed he is not a politician, but Taraba politics have turned this once brilliant soldier and elder statesman into a bigoted politician of the worse kind. We have seen the role he played during the tragedy that befell Danbaba Suntai in his bid to stop Danbaba's Muslim deputy from succeeding his dying and incapacitated boss.

In their desperate efforts to stop Buhari from re-contesting, leaders like Danjuma, Obasanjo and Babangida are eager to destroy a country that has given them everything. Their patriotism only goes as far as their individual self-interests. Given the right political temperature and pressure, those guys have tolerated the worst assault on Nigeria's sovereignty.

What Danjuma and company should understand is, Buhari may go either before, during or after his second term, but Nigeria will always remain. It is the country that gives them everything that will be there to deal with the consequences of their bigoted politicization of national security problems.

The Nigerian military is the sole remaining symbol of Nigeria's unity and neutrality, with its officers and men fighting together, winning, losing, dying and surviving together. By seeking to undermine that institution, Danjuma is directly biting the finger that fed him. At least, the army today is more neutral and less political than the one he commanded after the civil war.

Calling for communities to rise against the state in defense of themselves is an invitation to anarchy and insurrection. No community will be able to do so in a country where chaos and disorder (as Danjuma is preaching) are the order of the day. Ethnic militias will only lead to a vicious cycle of violence that will leave our people more divided, our societies more destroyed and our country more backward.

Nigeria's problems anywhere are Nigeria's problem everywhere. An attack against one single community should be regarded as an attack against all Nigerian communities. No single Nigerian community can enjoy peace in isolation. It is either we survive together or perish together.

My comment: I’m surprised that sometimes our so-called elderstatesmen open their mouths to make some instigative comments that have the potential to cause disharmony in our dear Nation. These old men have had their time (a very sweet swell time for that matter), captured enough of our common wealth to last their generations unborn and are now still trying to define / determine our future. Imagine such comment please. How can a retired COAS say the Citizens should not trust their Armed Forces? Is old age madness? I feel ashamed of this comment and have lost respect for the retired General.

THE BENUE GOVERNOR DESERVE TO GIVE THE FULANIS AN APPOLOGY

Up untill now, nigerians believed the fulanis are responsible for the reckless havoc in benue.Ortom has condemned the fulanis for the crises in the state.

Now we know better, the tribe causing trouble in benue are the tivs. Most of the killings are carried out by a notorious militia gang led by 'Akwese' popularly known as 'Ghana'. The governor was the same person who gave amnesty to Ghana and his ethnic militia. Same governor was responsible for the arrest of many ethic militia thought to be fulanis only to disappoint the public with a group of people who dont even know 'good mornining' in fulfulde.
The surprising thing is that several of the arrested criminal in benue have no fulani ties.
It is evidently clear that the governor is prejudiciouly explioting the guillabity of the people by putting the blame on innocent fulanis rather than developing the state. Using devise means to distract people from his failure in providing infrastructure, tangeble development and youth empowerment... . What has the governor done in those areas other than giving wheelbarrow as his own way of thanking the youths for thier votes;and his own way of empowering the youth is distribution of wheelbarrows.
Why is Ortom restive? The troops PMB sent to the middle belt to arrest the situation got wind that herdmen were about to attack a benue/taraba border town ,so they went with the intention of dealing with them but the assailants, whom they caught, were discovered to be tivs. This arrest prompted the 'wheel barrow governor' to gather the benue elders to visit the president in Aso rock so as to cover his tracks. The same AK 47 the purported used by the fulanis were found in the possession of the militant tivs who were sponsored by Ortom. The militia were arrested with fulani attires.

However, his visit to the villa couldnot have being fruitful as he thought it will be which is why he is growing restive by the day blaming fulanis without one singled arrest made.

The Agatu killing shows that this governor is an ethnic/tribal bigot. Dispite the fact that Agatu killing was numerical more than the 73 tivs killed ,it didnot got the governors recomendation as benue killing.
Same man is asking for state police to man the state . What for?

RE: THE NIQAB IS PART AND PARCEL OF HIJAB -Mufti Dr Ahmad Gumi.

By Nasiruddeen Abdullahi Isa.

I am yet to see the word niqab or face is part of 'aura' for women in the verses and ahadith he quoted.

Extremism and radicalization in 'fatwa' is the major problem that Muslims suffers in the hands of Scholars today.

Face is not and can never be 'aura' in Islam. Niqab Is Not Required In The Islamic Law

Allah says in the most Holy Quran "And Say to the believing women to lower their gaze (from looking at forbidden things), and protect their private parts (from illegal sexual acts) and not to show off their adornment except only that which is apparent (see the explanation below), and to draw their veils all over Juyubihinna" (Surah An-Nur, Verses 30 and 31)

We will see how the Salaf, the early predecessors of Islam understood this matter:

1) The Opinion Of The Sahaba:

Ibn Abbas (ra) is one of the most learned men of the Sahaba (Companions). Prophet Muhammad (SAW) even prayed for him saying "O Allah, make him acquire a deep understanding of the religion of Islam and instruct him in the meaning and interpretation of things." He with reference to Surah An-Nur “except only that which is apparent” as Ibn Kathir narrated with a Sahih (authentic) chain of narrators, said it’s "The hand, the ring, and the face." Abdullah Ibn Omar Ibn Al-Khattab (ra) said “the face and the two hands”. Anas Ibn Malik (ra) said “the hand and the ring”.

Ibn Hazm said: “all of this (statements) are in the highest of accuracy. And so are statements by Ali (ra), Aisha (ra), and other Tabi’een”.

Now you have to think who would understand these verses better than Aisha (ra) the MOST knowledgeable woman in the matters of Islam and the wife of Prophet Muhammad (SAW)?

2) Scholars Among The Tabi’een Had Many Opinions On This Matter:

Some said a woman should cover all of her body except the face and the hands. This is the saying of Imam Malik, Al-Hadi, Al-Qasim (in one of his narrations), and Imam Abu Hanifa (in one of his two narrations).

Some said she should cover all her body except the face, the hands, and the foot. This is the saying of Imam Abu Hanifa (in another narration), Al-Qasim, and Ath-thouri. Some said she should cover all her body except the face. This is the saying of Ibn Hanbal and Dawood.

No one said the face of a woman is loins (‘Aura) except a weak narration from Ibn Hanbal and some Shafi’i scholars!

Sa'id ibn Jubayr, 'Ata and al-Awzai have stated explicitly that the showing of the face and hands is permissible.

'Aishah (ra), Qatadah, and others have added bracelets to what may be shown of the adornments; this interpretation implies that a part of the arm may also be shown.

Various scholars (such as Abu Yusuf) have allowed the exposure of the lower part of the arm up to a length varying between about four inches to one-half of the arm.

Ibn Hazm is the Imam of the Dhahiri schools (Literal schools) mentioned many accidents prove that it is not required for a woman to cover her face.

3) The Opinion Of Late Scholars:

Assuredly a woman is permitted to show her face and hands because covering them would be a hardship on her, especially if she must go out on some lawful business.

For example, a widow may have to work to support her children, or a woman who is not well-off may have to help her husband in his work; had covering the face and hands been made obligatory, it would have occasioned such women hardship and distress. Al-Qurtabi says, it seems probable that, since the face and hands are customarily uncovered, and it is, moreover, required that they be uncovered during acts of worship such as Salat and Hajj, the exemption (referred to in the verses of Surah al-Nur) pertains to them.

In addition to this, we may infer from Allah's words, "Tell the believing men that they should lower their gazes", that the faces of the women of the Prophet's time were not veiled.

Had the entire body including the face been covered, it would have made no sense to command them to lower their gaze, since there would have been nothing to be seen.

Narrated Aisha, Ummul Mu'minin: Asma, daughter of AbuBakr, entered upon the Apostle of Allah wearing thin clothes. The Apostle of Allah turned his attention from her. He said: O Asma', when a woman reaches the age of menstruation, it does not suit her that she displays her parts of body except this and this, and he pointed to her face and hands. (Narrated by Abu Dawood, 4092).

This Hadith has three authentic narrations and was correct by all Major Hadith scholars such as Albani.

Narrated 'Abdullah bin Abbas: Al-Fadl (his brother) was riding behind Allah's Apostle and a woman from the tribe of Khath'am came and Al-Fadl started looking at her and she started looking at him. The Prophet turned Al-Fadl's face to the other side. The woman said, "O Allah's Apostle! The obligation of Hajj enjoined by Allah on His devotees has become due on my father and he is old and weak, and he cannot sit firm on the Mount; may I perform Hajj on his behalf?" The Prophet replied, "Yes, you may." That happened during the Hajj-al-Wida (of the Prophet). (Narrated by Bukhari # 589, Muslim, and others).

This Hadith is very authentic since it was narrated by Bukhari and Muslim.

Unfortunately, Dr Ahmad Gumi who is called Mufti and claims to be Maliki is quoting irrelevant verses and Hadith to the topic to back his failed argument.

May Allah guide us and bless us with useful knowledge.

FRIDAY SERMON FOR 2nd FEBRUARY, 2018
Delivered by WO TINAU AT

WARNING AGAINST PRIDE AND ARROGANCE

In the Name of Allah Most Gracious Most Merciful
Thanks be to Allah (SWT) the Most High, the Lord of the heaven and the earth including whatever is obtainable in-between them. Glory be to Him; He made pride and arrogance the signs of disgrace and humiliation in this life and the next and He says in the Hereafter, the destination of the arrogant is surely the Hell. He Alone is to be worshipped without partner(s), and our leader Prophet Muhammad (SAW) is His Messenger. May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon the Prophet, his family, companions and each one of us.

Brothers and sisters in Islam! Allah has designed the nature of life in such a way that some people are placed above others; some are having smooth life while some have to struggle on daily basis, some are born with silver spoon in their mouths while so many others don’t even know what a spoon is, some are placed in high positions and some are made to serve below others; all these are not scales upon which we determine the fortune or misfortune of people, rather, we are expected to know that our individual differences and positions in life are only trials for us and we are expected to learn from our trials. Unfortunately, a lot of people who find themselves at advantageous positions are so proud and arrogant despite Allah’s warning against that. Different people have different ways of being arrogant either knowingly or unknowingly and this behavior affects their relationship with Allah and with other people. So today’s sermon is going to highlight the causes, the consequences and remedies for pride and arrogance among people.

The Prophet (SAW) was reported to have said:

‘He who has an atom-size of arrogance in his heart will not enter Paradise.’(Muslim)

Whoever has a feeling of pride and arrogance, it is a clear evidence that in the Sight of Allah, he is among the rejected, those that would suffer humiliation. On the other hand, whoever takes life so simple and humbles himself before others, it is not a sign of weakness in him, but rather an indication of greatness and elevation before Allah. Pride is an attribute of Allah and whoever compete with Him in any of His attributes will surely not succeed.

By simple definition, pride means refusal to make use of the truth out of self-esteem while arrogance is looking down on people and they go hand in hand.

You can be able to identify a proud and arrogant person through a number of other ways:
The person who walks majestically as if he is too heavy for the earth and those who cannot walk a distance except if accompanied by people even when they are not facing any security challenge. All these are arrogant, including him who find it difficult to talk to people (even to say the Salam), unless if they talk to him first, probably because he feels he is by all standard superior to them. So is the person who see others and then pretend he did not see them, may be because they are not important. The same thing with those who shout unnecessarily at others, especially those working under them with the view to instill fear into them without sanctions of the law. Concerning all these attitudes Allah says:

وَلَا تَمْشِ فِي الْأَرْضِ مَرَحًا إِنَّكَ لَنْ تَخْرِقَ الْأَرْضَ وَلَنْ تَبْلُغَ الْجِبَالَ طُولًا
“And walk not on the earth with conceit and arrogance. Verily, you can neither tear the earth, nor can you attain a stature like the mountains in height.” (17: 37)

He also says:

“And turn not your face away from people with pride, nor walk in insolence through the earth. Verily, Allah likes not each arrogant boaster. And be moderate in your walking, and lower your voice. Verily, the harshest of all voices is the voice (braying) of a donkey.” (31: 18 – 19)

(ii) Some people would not visit the houses of others because they are not supposed to be seen there because of their status; they believe they are the ones to be visited. They have forgotten that the Prophet (SAW) was the most important human being on earth and he used to visit the houses of the most ordinary among his people. Even this his simplicity did not earn him everlasting life. So calm down and be humble, though even if you are, you will not live forever and some people will still accuse you of something else, but all the same, be humble.

(iii)Some people cannot carry their personal belongings and walk for a little distance no matter how light the items may be, even mobile phones; someone would have to carry it for them. This is a form of pride. Between the sins you commit and your personal items which one is heavier? If you agree that no one can carry your sins no matter how heavy they are, then you are just deceiving yourself if you say someone must carry your petty items such as hand bags and cell phones.

(iv) You are indeed proud and arrogant if you encroach into the rights of others in any way, without justification, especially when you know such people are too powerless to confront you or seek redress against you.

(v) You can be said to be proud and arrogant if you refuse to offer service/assistance to someone, knowing fully well that such services are needed, and you are capable of offering it, until when you are begged or pleaded with, whether or not you are primarily employed to offer such services. A good and humble Muslim does not wait until his brother come begging before he can assist him; he is the one who always do what is needful.

(vi) You are clearly proud and arrogant if you look down on people who are not in the same social class with you, not minding whether they are better blessed in other areas of life: This was the attitude of the Jews during the time of Prophet Isma’il (AS):

“And their Prophet said to them: ‘Indeed Allah has appointed Talut as a king over you’. They said, ‘How can he be a king over us when we are better fitted than him for the kingdom, and he has not been given enough wealth’. He said: ‘verily, Allah has chosen him above you and has increased him abundantly in knowledge and stature. And Allah grants His Kingdom to whom He wills. And Allah is All–Sufficient for the needs of His creatures, All–Knower.’” (2:247)

Even to our Prophet (SAW) it so happened, when his people rejected his Prophet-hood and his leadership on the basis that he was a nobody among the people but a commoner; that he was not rich, he used to walk on the streets without body guards and he used to enter the market and buy his things himself (25:7 – cool. And for this attitude Allah cursed them and said they have gone astray, and they cannot find a (Right) path because their arrogance and insolence behaviour would not allow them to.

How can man be so proud and arrogant on earth when his origin was a sperm and when he was ejaculated his parents became temporarily impure, and his end would be a corpse that would rot and decay beneath the soil and be eaten by maggots? It may not be a surprise to you if you know that there are some people who choose which mosque to pray in and which one not to, depending on how important they think their positions are, as if Allah’s blessing is not in all the mosques. We all know that there are some people who will not shake hand with others because they are of different class as if the dignity of a person is not in the heart and not in his appearance. Why should you allow class division to form artificial barrier between you and your fellow human beings when you don’t know whether they are better than you in the place of Allah?

There are some people, whose feeling of pride and arrogance would not allow them to search for religious knowledge even if they don’t have the background of it because to them they are now too big or too important to do that. Such are the people to whom the houses of Paradise will be shown from afar, and it would be said to them:

تِلْكَ الدَّارُ الْآَخِرَةُ نَجْعَلُهَا لِلَّذِينَ لَا يُرِيدُونَ عُلُوًّا فِي الْأَرْضِ وَلَا فَسَادًا وَالْعَاقِبَةُ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ
“That is the home of the Hereafter, We shall assign (it only) to those who did not rebel against the truth with pride and (they did not) oppress in the land nor did (they do any) mischief (by committing crimes). And the good end is (surely) for the pious.” (28: 83)

Brothers and sisters in Islam, we all know the main causes of pride and arrogance in people and we must avoid them in order to be successful:
wealth – those whose wealth is making them proud and arrogant, they should remember the story of Qarun:

“Verily, Qarun was among the people of Musa, but he behaved arrogantly towards them. And We give him of the treasures, that of which the keys would have been a burden to a body of strong men. When his people said to him: ‘Do not be glad (with ungratefulness to Allah). Verily! Allah likes not those who are (ungrateful for His Favours).” (28: 76)

Just like many people of his type today, Qarun was so arrogant and boastful because he thought the wealth was given to him because he was having special qualities which the others were not having. He thought he was a fortunate person and that all the poor are unfortunate human beings. So, he was destroyed along with his wealth and Allah said, can’t he see that before him, generations of people were destroyed; men who were stronger than him in might and greater in the amount of riches?

Knowledge – those whose knowledge makes them to think they know everything and that any other person is ignorant, should check out the story of Bil’am bn Ba’urah, Allah said to the Prophet (SAW):

وَاتْلُ عَلَيْهِمْ نَبَأَ الَّذِي آَتَيْنَاهُ آَيَاتِنَا فَانْسَلَخَ مِنْهَا فَأَتْبَعَهُ الشَّيْطَانُ فَكَانَ مِنَ الْغَاوِينَ
“And recite to them the story of him to whom We gave (the knowledge of) our revelations, but he threw them away, so Shaitan followed him up, and he became of those who went astray.” (7: 175)

At the end of his life, he was made to behave like dog, always rolling out his tongue in disgrace, for not using his knowledge properly. Allah said relate the stories perhaps they may reflect, because ignominy and disgrace are always the end of those who were deceived by their knowledge.

Position – if it is your position in the society that makes you to be arrogant, have you so easily forgotten Prophet Suleiman (AS) who was commanding a kingdom nobody ever commanded before or after him? Someone is heading just about 3 – 5 people in his place of work and he is already feeling as if he is heading an entire kingdom. Someone may be heading a group of people, say 30, 40 or even a hundred and he is behaving as if he is ruling the nation. Even if you are heading the nation, what is so special about that spiritually? Remember Prophet Sulaiman (AS) headed a far greater kingdom than this nation and he was having absolute power over his people, all the classes of Jinns, the animals of all species and even the wind was moving by his command in the direction he wanted and Allah (SWT) said to him:

هَذَا عَطَاؤُنَا فَامْنُنْ أَوْ أَمْسِكْ بِغَيْرِ حِسَابٍ
‘This is Our gift, so spend you or withhold, no account will be asked (from you of your powers).’” (38: 35 – 39)

All these did not make him proud of his position. He wasn’t looking down on anybody and he wasn’t arrogant to his people. Today, Prophet Suleiman is no more, and gone with him were all his powers. So, what makes you think that yours will last?

4. Relationship – there are some people, throughout their lives, someone influences their progress and that makes them feel proud that they have some body. Not only that, they behave rudely to people too. If you are one of them, think of what will happen to you if that person should be no more. Or better still, think of whether in the Palace of God that person can still stand for you. Fatima (RA) was the only surviving daughter of the Prophet before he died, and he once told her to ask him anything she wanted while he was alive, because on Judgement Day, her relationship with him will not save her except her deeds. And he used to say:

‘Whoever could not be saved by his deeds, then his relationship (with someone) would not be of any value to him.’ (Muslim)

Beauty – those that are so handsome among men and they use their handsomeness to manipulate the hearts of women, they should know that they can never be anywhere close to Prophet Yusuf (AS). Allah says about him:

فَلَمَّا رَأَيْنَهُ أَكْبَرْنَهُ وَقَطَّعْنَ أَيْدِيَهُنَّ وَقُلْنَ حَاشَ لِلَّهِ مَا هَذَا بَشَرًا إِنْ هَذَا إِلَّا مَلَكٌ كَرِيمٌ
“Then when they (the women) saw him (Yusuf), they exalted him (at his beauty) and (in their astonishment) cut their hands. They said: ‘How perfect is Allah! This is not a man! This is none other than a noble angel.’” (12: 31)

If you are a beautiful woman and you are conscious of your beauty so you behave to men with pride and feeling of importance, the tendency is that you would probably remain single until a time when handsome and rich men will have no need for you. You have to know that as long as there is day and night, there will come a time that your beauty will fade and whatever is it that makes you beautiful will no longer be there, so what happens when the time comes? So, do not be carried away by your handsomeness or by your beauty for these are things that can fade with the passage of time.

There are some people who have nothing to show, but they are full of pride because to them, they don’t need anything from any body and they can lead their lives independent of others. And because you don’t do anything for them you also have no right to dictate how their lives would be and so they have arrogant and insolence behavior towards others. Such people are among the first set to enter Hell Fire.

One of the early scholars said, ‘If you don’t know the origin of someone, just look at his attitude and you will know what stuff he is made of’.

O you respected listeners! Always remember that pride and arrogance are detrimental to man, because they reduce his faith, distance him away from people and render him incapable of doing good even if he desires or unable to leave evil even if he wants to. The best advice to man therefore, in this regard, is the advice given to Qarun by his contemporaries:

وَابْتَغِ فِيمَا آَتَاكَ اللَّهُ الدَّارَ الْآَخِرَةَ وَلَا تَنْسَ نَصِيبَكَ مِنَ الدُّنْيَا وَأَحْسِنْ كَمَا أَحْسَنَ اللَّهُ إِلَيْكَ وَلَا تَبْغِ الْفَسَادَ فِي الْأَرْضِ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يُحِبُّ الْمُفْسِدِينَ
“And seek, with that which Allah has bestowed on you, the home of the Hereafter, and forget not your portion of legal enjoyment in this world, and be good (to others) as Allah has been good to you, and seek not mischief in the land. Verily, Allah does not like the mischief-makers.” (28: 77)
Then the advice by Allah for those who feel they have arrived. He says:
And do not be proud over what you are given. And Allah does not love anyone who is arrogant and boastful (Q57: 23)

May Allah clean our hearts of the dirt of pride. May He make us humble here and elevated in the Hereafter. May we see this world as a little thing in our eyes and feel the essence of Allah in our hearts. May He clear our individual and collective problems and may He touch our hearts and that of our leaders so that we’ll be doing good and not evil.

NIGERIA IS OUR FATHER LAND

Nigeria is passing through a tense moment. Champions of war have elevated their voices shouting ugly words of hatred; instigating people to take to the path of violence.

Voices of peace, believers in the oneness of humanity, must not only speak out: they must also reach out to community leaders to block the call to violence.

The media, particularly the broadcast media, including the print media, and believers of peace on social media platforms, must take the responsibility of advocating for peace and countering the unconscionable messages of violence. Silence is not golden when evil people decide to utter inciteful words of hatred all in their bid to satisfy their sadistic interests.

This country will endure on peace. It takes the voices of the peaceful majority to defeat the evil plots of a few devilish champions of hatred and war. I love Nigeria; I hate violence!

2.The most recognized in history is the Great Mosque of Kano built in 1582.
The great mosque was built for Muhammad Rumfa in the 15th century and was moved to a new site by Muhammad Zaki in 1582.

However, history has it that mosques were built in

Iwo town in 1655 followed by

Iṣẹyin, in 1760;

Lagos, 1774;

Ṣaki, 1790;

and Oṣogbo, 1889.

The bottom line is whether 1550 or 1582, Islam has been in existence in Nigeria for almost three centuries before the coming of Christianity.

The British came and forced their religion on our forefathers which led to lots of them changing their names and becoming Christians.

Next time CAN talks about Islamization of Nigeria, please educate them.!
Islam did not just start. It has been there. If we did not islamize anyone all these years is it now because Buhari is president.

Why is CAN even screaming islamization now that for the first time a pastor is in the villa as vice president?
There was never an Imam who became Governor. In benue we had a Catholic priest as governor. In taraba we had a reverend both in Northern Nigeria. Now we have a pastor as vice President.

Please let religious bodies sow the seeds of peaceful coexistence not disharmony and needless suspicion.

*PRAY FOR YOUR LEADERS*

*Abu Umamah (R.A) narrated that the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said:*

*“Do not curse your leaders but pray to Allah to make them righteous, for their righteousness brings about your well-being as well.” (Muslim)*

Imam Ahmad bin Hanbal, used to say:

*“If I have any accepted prayer/supplication, I will pray to Allah on behalf of the Leader”*

Remember that If the Leader is righteous and just, the entire country will benefit, righteousness will flourish, Allah’s blessing will descend on Nigerians, the righteous people will become dominant and the corrupt and evil ones will be humiliated.

We pray for Allah's guidance upon our President to put up appropriate policies and programs to reduce the cost of living and improve the standard of living for all Nigerians

Allah ul Musta'an...

What about the Bible's Prophets' marriages?

When we read the Bible, we learn about some Prophets marrying many wives, even hundreds of wives in some cases. Let us look at some of the verses from the Old Testament:

In Exodus 21:10, a man can marry an infinite amount of women without any limits to how many he can marry.

In 2 Samuel 5:13; 1 Chronicles 3:1-9, 14:3, King David had six wives and numerous concubines.

In 1 Kings 11:3, King Solomon had 700 wives and 300 concubines.

In 2 Chronicles 11:21, King Solomon's son Rehoboam had 18 wives and 60 concubines.

And knowing that the Bible's Old Testament allowed before for men to have sex with girls who were at the age of 3, then it wouldn't surprise me that those Prophets who had 700 wives for instance, had many very young "teenage" girls before as their wives.

It wouldn't surprise me if they too had wives that were younger than Mary when she got pregnant, and younger than Aisha when she got married.

Since there are so many wives that those Prophets married (hundreds of wives), then how would anyone know that they didn't marry young women as our beloved Prophet peace be upon him did with his marriage to Aisha peace be upon her?

*MARRIAGE OF AISHA (R.A) AT 9 YEARS OLD.*
_This is so STRANGE why?._
I checked one page on Facebook and whatsApp platform our brothers were busy arguing with Christians about the age of our *Mother Aisha (R.A)* and many of us can't defend ourselves on this issue but let me make it clear. While the disbelievers were busy calling HIM (Prophet PBUH) a Pedophile.
Waiyyazubillah
The Muslims were busy faulting Sahih Bukhari so as to "cover-up" the issue.
The aged were like: that's extremism.
*Aisha (RadiAllahu Anha)* said, I was given in marriage to the Rasuulullah (SAW) when I was 6yrs old, and he consummated the marriage when I was 9 (Bukhari).
Rather than calling it a da'eef hadith, to please your non-Muslim friends who are insulting your Rasoolullah (SAW), just be silent, or ask the scholars and read more about Seerah (history) and perhaps Allah may grant you the Hikmah (Wisdom) behind it.
Have you ever asked yourself? Why is it that during the days of Quraysh, they called the Rasulullah (SAW); Magician, madman, and the likes but *NEVER* called him a Pedophile if this accusation was true?
They never raised any question about his marriage to *Aisha (R.A),* why?
Because it was *NORMAL* at that time, girls at that age were suitable for marriage at that time,
*Did you know:*
-Saint Augustine (350AD) married a 10 year old girl
-King Richard 11 (1400AD) he married a 7yr old girl.
-King Henry Viii (1500AD) he married a 5yrs old girl.
*_Even in the BIBLE it says:_*
....But save for yourself every girl who has never slept with a man (numbers 31. 17:28).*
According to the catholic encyclopedia, Mary the mother of Jesus was 12 when she married the 99 years old Joseph.
Before 1929, church of england ministers could marry 12yrs old girls in Britain.
Up till 1983, catholic canon laws permitted priests to marry off brides at the age of 12.
In the United States, back in 1880, in the state of Delaware, the minimum age for marriage was 7yrs
and in California it was 10.
.
So *Aisha (RadiAllahu Anha)* was *NOT* a child
when she was married! We live in a society where good is condemned at every slight opportunity but evil is encouraged even when its flaws are crystal clear.
*_How strange The Nigerian constitution says:_*
*An 18yrs old can vote*
*An 18yrs old can go to jail*
*An 18yrs old can contest for political positions*
*An 18yrs old can travel outside d country all alone.*
*And YET, an 18yrs old can't marry? But our 12yrs old Girls are having boyfriends!*
.
_Did u know? When Sofiyyah bint Huyay was married to the Muhammed (SAW), she was just 17yrs old? And that was her THIRD marriage She was initially married to Salam ibn abi Haqiq and later to Kinanah ibn abi Haqiq!_
Imagine how old she was during her first marriage?
Are you clarified now?
*Those still doubtful, Go back to your village and ask your grandmother how old she was when she got married to your grandpa!.*
*Islam is perfect while Muslims are not*
May Allah (SWT) always give us ability to overcome every by challenges in this life and the hereafter. Aameen.
Please let share to silent the enemy of islam
Cares from *_Abu Hurairah_*

In a multi cultural and multi religious society like Nigeria, violation of basic rights breeds chaos and disobedience.

While discrimination, especially on the basis of religion causes disunity among people, sentiments on the other hand, causes fracture and motivate the feeling of revenge.

This is why every lover of peace and unity must at all times, be sensitive to the basic rights of others and not be seen as obstacle for no just cause.

Following my publication on the hijab controversy at the Nigerian law school few days ago, titled ‘’Nigerian Law School and the need for change’’, several people had reached out to me to give their views on the subject matter. In view of the numerous messages, I feel that i owe them further explanation in the interest of public good. So, this publication is a follow up to the first one, hoping that people might learn to understand the implication of their actions and its effect on peaceful coexistence, which will directly or indirectly have effect on their own living.

Apart from the fact that hijab is a legal right, already upheld in several court in the country, what we are contending with is our level of intolerance, discrimination and sentiments, not for any personal good or benefit, but for the satisfaction of bias.
The idea that people who share different faith, culture or tradition must not be accommodated or their rights not be protected is a fundamental flaw in our reasoning that must not be left unchallenged. This is an archaic reasoning in all ramifications.

For example, in February 2017, the Court of Appeal Lagos Division dismissed an application filed by the Lagos State Government seeking an injunction to suspend Hijab use by Muslim female pupils in public schools. While dismissing the suite, the Judge held that the ban on hijab was discriminatory. The panel upheld the contention that the ban violated their rights to freedom of thought, conscience, religion, dignity of human persons and freedom from discrimination guaranteed by the 1999 Constitution. So, there is no argument on whether or not, hijab is a right. The contention is about our level of intolerance, discrimination and sentiments.

When I see people opposing the use of hijab, I ask myself only one question. On what basis are they opposing it? Does wearing hijab by one person, infringes the right of the other person who don’t want to wear it? If not, how does the person who enjoys the right of not using hijab, justify his or her opposition to those who want to wear it? Only one answer surfaces here and it is intolerance.

Unfortunately, by opposing hijab, you are not fighting for your own right, but instead, fighting against the right of others. This is really a dangerous mindset, not against the people you oppose per se, but against your own self, because the same reasoning you use to justify your opposition to the rights of others will be brought into the quality of decisions you make for yourself.

But here is even a greater danger. When you oppose the right of others for no sane reason or benefits to you, they will also oppose you for no sane reason or benefit to them when the opportunity comes. Both of you would then continue to oppose each other for no sane reason, thereby leading to unnecessary tension, suspicion and even violence. This is what has breed insecurity in our country. The unnecessary suspicion manifest in virtually every aspect of our lives and it continues to escalate and breed tension even in the most unexpected places.

I have observed over the years that most of the conflicts we have in Nigeria are not real conflicts, they are mostly unnecessary conflicts born out of nothing and to achieve nothing. More importantly, they cannot be resolved, because they are nothing. You cannot resolve nothing, when there is nothing. Our conflicts are imaginary, born out of psychological misconception and the need to oppose others for opposition sake. This is why even those who claimed to be human right activists or lawyers fall into this ditch of inconsistency without seeing their bias. From claiming to be proponent of rule of law, they will take a 360 degree U-turn against the right of others and still feel the need to justify their absurdity.

For example, just few months ago, we defended the right of a female Muslim Central Bank Deputy Governor Aisha Ahmad, who chooses not to wear hijab, but today, those who defended her right not to use hijab are the same set of people are opposing the right of another female Muslim, who chooses to wear hijab. How can one lady have the right not wear hijab, and the other won’t have the right to wear it? This is where the inconsistency in activism comes in. It appeared they are not really interested in the law or the rightness of an action, but merely taking a position that is only consistent with their sentiment, interest or affiliation at a particular time.

On a final note, let me remind us all that, if we oppose other peoples right because it infringes on our own right, this is understandable. If we also oppose other people’s practices because it prevents us from practicing ours, this may also be understandable. And even if we oppose the right of others because it affects our own interest, that maybe acceptable as well. But, what could never be understandable is the fact that, we oppose other people’s right, not because it infringes on ours or prevent us from enjoying our own interest, but simply because we do not want others to enjoy their own right. This is a disjointed reasoning that we must expunge from our society if we are to achieve cohesion, stability and tranquility.
