Nigerians are funny, and NL shows how foolish a lot of people can be. Let us not take out objectivity in our criticism and play so much to the gallery.

Politicians are known to use every means to try to achieve political gains and this is just one of them. Buhari going to the stadium is a political stunt. This does not really mean he is more humbly than GEJ. Before you jump to the conclusion that I am a PDP/GEJ supporter, I am against the PDP, but you must admit that the performance of individual politicians is not based on the party but mostly on the individual. Just as the ACN is doing well in some states, so also some PDP Governors are doing well.

Please, weda you like GEJ or not, it is not proper you call him a silly man as some people have been doing in this forum, he is a sitting President and we must show him some respect. When you insult him, it shows that your upbringing is somehow faulty.

In Nigeria we have as misconstrued way of judging strength. When somebody insults you, the first reaction is always to fight back, when you don't do that, people call you a fool or a weakling. But it takes greater strength to stay calm under extreme provocation than to react.

GEJ recently sacked a principal member of his campaign team for insulting Buhari and Ribadu, but can Ribadu/Buhari do same.

Then he got BON to bar those who wanted to attend BON debate.

This is an outrage.

After some nincompoops will tell us BON cannot be partial.
So GEJ asked shekarau,BUhari and ribadu to pull out too? oh its no longer a case of BON giving him the question before hand abi?

The mistake was from the very beginning. He should not have asked for Expo in the first place. Once the expo-asking has occurred, any following excuse to justify it  or any lame attempt at denying after one month is null and void.
When people because of their prefered candidates refuse to employ simple logic in their responses, it only explains why as a nation it is always difficult to move forward. Expo in what sense? From the two debates so far NN24 and "what about us" can you tell me the exact question that was unexpected?

Who does not know that a presidential debate will largely be about our core issues like : Education, power, health, unemployement, security of lives and property, Niger delta, infrastructural development, poverty alleviation and anti corruption, then if the moderators are sound they could extend to foreign policy. No matter how these questions are coined once you have a sound agenda to address this challenges you will explain in the debates.

PoliticsRe: 2011: Why Buhari Should Be President by naso2(m): 6:56pm On Mar 28, 2011
PTF Projects: The Abacha regime created a parallel government through the Petroleum Trust Fund (PTF) headed by Major General Muhammed Buhari. Nothing else typifies the marginalisation of the Yoruba than the lopsidedness of the projects carried out by the PTF. Figures from PTF Situation Reports (Vol. 2 Dec. 98) show that the PTF carried on as if there was no South West.
Of all the roads rehabilitated by he PTF, only 1984.5 kilometres of roads representing 10.84 per cent were carried out in the South West; from where the bulk of the PTF revenue came since the zone consumes over 60 per cent of refined petroleum products. All the Southern States had 4,440.43 kms or 24 per cent of road rehabilitation as against 13,870.47 kms or 76 per cent in the Northern States zone three comprising the North-West States of Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Sokoto and Zamfara had a lion share of 5020 kms or 27.42 per cent because the Fund’s Chairman, Buhari and the military dictator Sani Abacha were from there; zone four comprising the North-East States of Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Taraba and Yobe picked 23.48 per cent. This is the zone where Salihijo Ahmed, the late Chief Executive of Afri-Project Consortium APC, the sole consultants that supervised all PTF projects came from.
Figures in other sectors were more scandalous.

For instance, under the National Health and Educational Rehabilitation Programme (NHERP), the South West had zero allocation in the tertiary programme, while the North picked 100 per cent. In the vocational programme, the South West had zero while the North had 97 per cent. In the primary area, the South-West had zero against 88 per cent for the North and in the secondary area, it was zero for the South-West and 86 per cent for the North.

The health sector is similar. For the Teaching Hospitals, the South-West had zero while the North had 62 per cent. For the Specialist Hospitals, it was zero for the South-West and 71 per cent for the North; in General/State Hospitals the Yoruba had nothing while the North had 56 per cent for health clinics, it was zero for the South-West against the North’s 100 per cent.

Under the food supply summary, the Southwest had 7.26 per cent compared with 83 per cent for the North, Buhari’s zone having 60.54 per cent to itself.

lacidi:
It is clear that many people on NL have never ever watched a live football match in the Abuja National Stadium. Buhari was NOT sitting at the Popular stand. He was at the reserved/VIP stand. Please note that there is a difference between the VIP stand and the State Box which is reserved for Government officials.

The seats in the Popular stand do not have arm rests. They are only flat plastic seats while those in the VIP are seats with full backrests and armrests. Please next time we should try and get our information right before making assertions.

It should also be noted that Buhari, as Head of State, never ever attended any football match at the then National Stadium in Lagos, neither has he ever attended any other Super Eagles match at the national stadium since he left office.

It is noteworthy also that since Buhari left office, Nigeria has hosted the African Nations cup and two youth world cups and on no occassion did Buhari attend any match in these tournaments.

So whatever he is doing now is simply part of his election campaign.

Ribadu - create jobs in the private sector, increase power supply, manage funds well as our money is currently going into buying planes for the president and the first lady to travel around.

Dele Momodu - i have provided vendors in every state jobs by selling ovation. but that isnt the issue. We can create 200,000 jobs such as in agriculture by reducing the salaries of public office holders. The presidential kitchen was renovated with a huge some of money. Too expensive even for international standards, even if u want to roast a whole cow in the oven.

Shekarau - skill acquisition and self-empowerment
Ribadu is talking like someone that just finished reading on SSCE economics text book.

Any serious plan on unemployement will look ta how SMEs will survive hence the shekarau option looks more believable

Shekarau  actually said nothing tangible to solve the power problem. He simply said he will get there as president and start studying what is wrong and try to solve. My problem with people like this is that their party already has a manifesto, stating how they will solve the power problem, then is it that they either dont know their manifesto or they dont believe in it?

I also cited the Vp debates that Sambo did not show up , now i cited the complaint of the PDP chairman(I am not holding brief for him, i am only reporting what he said). Now if a "smart" you that did not see sambo in the VP debates a week before ,expected to see GEJ, then i cant help you.

We need to be plain about the issue of debate. Simple agreement that GEJ would be there should have been adhered to. We should appreciate the fact that oppositions are coming out before the d day to tell everybody that they wont come. This is better. Why did GEJ agree to be there in the first place. Whatever pdp reasons against the debate, they knew before they agreed and even shifted the date twice. Yet no apologies, no explanations for this careless action. This is not good for democracy. Are we practicing autocracy? Humility begets Honour.
If you dont have facts why not keep quiet. Sambo did not show up for the VP debates and that was 1 week before the real presidential debate. The acting PDP chairman stated at least 4 days before the  debates that  they will  not be part of the debate because of lack of structure and not necessarily what most people are saying about making questions available in advance. It s not as if people thought GEJ was on his way and he refused to show up.

why is mr president shouting igbo population all about. when the census was done, was it based on ethnicity of state of residence

PoliticsRe: Buhari, Ribadu, Shekarau Pull Out Of BON Debate by naso2(m): 5:08pm On Mar 24, 2011
What kind of question should Buhari not know? seeing that he is going through this road for the third time.

People talking about the questions being leaked to GEJ make me laugh. What are the advisers of these candidates for? Anyone who intends to be president of this country should have ready answers for  SURE BANKER questions like: Education, health, power, security of the nation, transportation, unemployement, infrastructural development and corruption. any other thing na jara.

The problem is that candidates like Buhari dont even know what his much publicised  party manisfesto says about these things. They(buhari and ribadu) have seen how difficult a debate is, hence they dont want to mess up again. I can bet that if shekarau's chances were half as bright as Buhari's, he would not have boycotted this debate, becuase he is sure of himself and would relish an opportunity to flaw GEJ.

Make Big Joe no dull himself o, even if he is the only candidate, he should show up patapata he go turn to pre-election chat with media men. Anybody wey dey vex  make e hug transformer.

Besides that moderator of the NN24 debate could not even hide her dislike for PDP and na ABOKI girl, so how  sure are we that she would have been truely unbiased had GEJ showed up.

I go answer you when you answer the question I asked ibime and him dey dodge :

what are your realistic expectations are from a president in 1 year in a country like Nigeria expecially when the president starts at the tail end of his predecessors tenure like UMYA's demise?
PoliticsRe: Another Plan Against Pdp: North Launches ‘final Assault’ On Jonathan by naso2(m): 5:44pm On Mar 23, 2011
See as you pack lies full your post to score cheap point.  My response in red.
ibime: Buhari was President for 18 months, and his policies are remembered for a lifetime. Tell me what Buhari did in 18 months, dem build new roads, or na power for national grid increase, or that the man just say with strong head him no go pay our debt again. Abeg remove WAI and tell me what he did?

Buhari was PTF head for 2 years and people remember what he did.  Buhari was PTF head from 1994 till when OBJ was elected in 1999 so oga if that one na 2 years by your own arithmetic, then no wahala. But if you dont know how PTF came about then i will explain and tell you why i score buhari very low.

What did GEJ do in Bayelsa State? It's a simple question. I go answer you after you state your realistic expectations. Abeg lets talk about his one year as president .

What did GEJ do in Bayelsa State? It's a simple question. All we know is that he opened Bayelsa's coffers for PDP campaign in 2007, and his wife planted a few hundred million worth of flowers in the state (inbetween being dragged up twice by the EFCC). It is either you dont  believe your very reverd  ribadu any longer or you are deliberately being difficult. RIBADU SAYS THE STORY IS FALSE. LETS START FROM THERE.

We also know that he left Bayelsa in N18 bln - N58 bln debt (depending on who you read) from a surplus position in 15 months only. I am not sure of this debt story , but with the falsehood you have padded in the post, I am tempted not to believe it. Secondly lets assume the debt claim is true, do you have evidence that these were borrowings done in his 1 year as governor or accumulated borrowings from the days of alams in 1999? abeg try dey talk true.

We also know he has managed to blow $30bln from our ECA account (in the same 1 year time-frame you claim is too small). Because of this your ECA claim your GPA don really drop for my side. what crap? In as far back as 2008 the ECA was exactly $20bln . I can authoritatively state that GEJ did not meet up to $10 bln there. Secondly opposition governors like oshiomole have always made case for the sharing of the ECA funds abi you no know that one? Ok before we proceed tell me the exact amount in the ECA when GEJ became acting president

So please tell us what he did in Bayelsa, and lets see. . . .   Lets talk about his one year as presido so far.
PoliticsRe: Another Plan Against Pdp: North Launches ‘final Assault’ On Jonathan by naso2(m): 4:49pm On Mar 23, 2011
ibime: ^Its a case of damned if you do, damned if you don't.

Unfortunately, we have no credible opposition to the PDP in the South, so the inclusion of Utomi and Momodu would help to guard against any opposition front being seen as part of the "born to rule" mentality of the North.

As for me, I'm only concerned with competence, that's why I've been waiting months for you (Na So) to put forward a sellable record of achievement from GEJ's time as Governor of your home state. You better than anyone should be in a position to do so. The floor is open. . . .
Before we get deep into this , I want to get somethings straightened.

1. Nigeria actually deserve a leader better than the pack eyeing the nations NO1 seat,  But of the lot, GEJ is the best for now.
2.  Gej was governor of Bayelsa for just a little over 1 year( say 15 months)
3. Gej has been president for just 1 year or less.

Now before we delve into his achievements so far, I want you to set the tone, by simply stating what your realistic expectations are from a president in 1 year in a country like Nigeria expecially when the president starts at the tail end of his predecessors tenure like ALAMS and UMYA?

I will risk assuming that you are not part of the pack that want him to state his achievements as deputy governor and VP.

When you do this,  I will start and we 'll take it from there to the reasons why I am sticking with GEJ(NOT PDP). Waiting . . . .
PoliticsRe: Another Plan Against Pdp: North Launches ‘final Assault’ On Jonathan by naso2(m): 2:54pm On Mar 23, 2011
Any common opposition front must include Utomi and Momodu to prevent a "northern concensus" candidate alienating the South. The argument should be based on competence not ethnicity, and on that ground, either Buhari or Ribadu trump GEJ.
So what political constituency in the south do these two represent? Una no go kill person with dis internet politics.

So if really we are sincere about fighting corruption shouldnt someone whose business thrives on celebrating stolen wealth as momodu does be equally culpable?

abge make we hear word with dis opposition talk.

PapaBrowne:
The sad and honest reality is that the other parties are not too different from the PDP. ACN has shown its hand in Tinubu. CPC is relatively unknown and as we've come too see is really just a regional party. ANPP is the same as PDP. The politicians are all the same. PDP is the worst because they control state resources.
As per the individuals, we are faced with candidates that all have their weaknesses and some strengths.

The best team in terms of knowledge and capacity like you said is the Ribadu/ Adeola team. They would probably initiate the best programs but their capacity to deliver would be hampered by the complex political landscape they would find in Abuja. Suddenly, they would find themselves having to learn on the job which isn't good for a country desperately in need of change.

Buhari/Bakare have the will and determination but from the debate I watched have no idea what the real problems of this country are. Buhari's responses on the solution to the Niger Delta, Power and Education were more than pathetic. However, he has the advantage of a desire to tackle corruption in government, but he will be faced with a massive uprising in the Niger Delta because of his sanctimonious rigidity and this would hamper his capacity to deliver any projects or even attract foreign investments.

Jonathan/ Sambo team has the advantage of both the Niger Delta and the power sector reforms. Corruption would probably thrive in governance, but the country would definitely experience economic growth and prosperity. Infrastructure development would probably be handed over to the private sector which I think is excellent.

Shekarau is the most intelligent of all of them, has the best grasp on Governance, but surely cannot win the elections.

In my opinion, any of the winners would bring something to the table which I think puts us in a better place than the 2007 elections!!
May be you have not been listening to ribadu's debates. That  guys knowledege is still at "aluta continua" level. HE talks like someone contesting SUG elections in one AREWA university. Fola adeola did not impress me either in the NN24 debates, may be i am expecting too much from him anyway.

on Buhari it is even more pathetic when you consider that this is a "student" sitting for the same "exam" for the third time. If he is this pathetic 8 years after his first attempt, what would have been his reponse to these questions in 2003. Infact OBJ FOR RUB DIS GUY FOR FLOOR.
