~Bluetooth: What else do you expect when we have Vagabonds In Power and the last time people were blaming Turai for protecting yaradua from the public,i wonder what this padded woman would if she were in Turai's shoe. What has the first lady got to do with the administration of Rivers state ? The woman must be sick And you never tried to ask what an elected governor was thinking when be blocked major roads in PH for her? you never asked too why an elected governor felt it necessary to give her such details in public? Or do you mean becuase she is the first lady she loses her right as an okrika indigene and consequently her stakeholder status? |
Politics › Re: Yorubas Back Uncle Joe by naso2(m): 9:52am On Aug 25, 2010 |
Gbawe: Even as he was initially unwanted, OBJ consolidated power enough to gain the support of regressive Yoruba elements. If you are then attempting to state that the Yorubas were unanimously behind him in 2003 then you are wrong. Don't forget that the likes of Falana, Fawehinmi, Soyinka et al never became OBJ supporters. It was Gangsters like Adedibu who were solidly behing OBJ. They helped him to rig in ruinous hands everywhere to the chagrin of most Yoruba folks in 2003 ad 2007.
Jonathan will only 'win in the SW region, against better choices , through rigging. When the only Governor performing superlatively in the SW is from the AC Party , while the other Governors are PDP Governors who have run their State into the ground, we are to believe that "Yorubas back Uncle Joe"? Ekiti is a taste of what is to come . The Yorubas are fed up of the PDP period !!! I hope Jonathan does not set Nigeria on fire by letting himself to be used by callous election riggers (OBJ, Anenih, et al) who always 'damn the consequences' of their unjust actions because of the inordinate greed for money and power. I think your aversion to GEJ presidency is not enough reason to conjure up tales. You are being too desperate here I must confess. So when asked to bring up names of yoruba politicians and elders that direct the course of yorubas politically, the names that come to your prejudiced mind are Falana, soyinka and Gani? Did tinubu,Abraham adesanya and all other notable Afenifere and YCE leaders that opposed OBJ in 1999 support him in 2003? Just answer abeg |

Politics › Re: First Lady scolds governor in public. by naso2(m): 9:22am On Aug 25, 2010 |
bidemi12: That is exactly the point. She is is not in a position to "scold" an elected state governor nor have inputs into it's inner workings. The governor is only responsible to the electorate who "voted" him in/who he governs. Our priorities as a nation is warped. if people cannot find anything wrong with this basic atrocity then we are really f.u.cked. Abeg go siddon. What rubbish her you talking about? so on what premise did an elected governor close down major roads in PH just to receive an un-elected first lady? On what premise did he see it necessary to give details of his plans to an un-elected first lady in public before her people. Why should an elected governor always say "MUST" in touching land issues that have tribal underpinnings? Even military regimes thread carefully in some issues. On what premise should an elected governor come before Okrika people last week to insult them and their sons last week? Or did you not see it in the papers?
My point simply is that what she said is absolutely on point. |
Politics › Re: Yorubas Back Uncle Joe by naso2(m): 9:13am On Aug 25, 2010 |
Gbawe: Correction; it is a Northern tenure for the PDP Party . That arrangement is not binding on the entire Yoruba ethnic group. Don't start insulting Yoruba people because of some article written on fraudulent premises that speaks falsely on behalf of Yoruba people. All these stories of the "backing" Jonathan enjoys are based on the supports of State Governors . With 4 PDP Governors in the SW , all controlled more or less by OBJ , it would seem as if "Yorubas back Uncle Joe" but we will see what will happen when the candidates declare and start campaigning. Don't forget that the Yoruba people unanimously rejected OBJ in 1999 !!! We remain his biggest ctirc today. He is no hero in our region. How can he be when , with all he has done in the past , he used his last Presidency to leave a legacy of imposing ruinous criminals everywhere?
I believe the Yorubas are ready to defend their votes because the region has particularly suffered from the impositions of OBJ. Jonathan wants to be a PDP President. The PDP has done nada in the SW in terms of Governance. All PDP Governors in the region are extremely poor. How can the Yorubas back Jonathan when all candidates have not declared their intentions and campaigning has not even started? It is articles like these that make me realise that the political establishment in Nigeria is entirely comfortable with rigging. In free and fair elections, PDP Governors in the SW cannot deliver their State for Jonathan especially because those Governors are the epitome of corruption, indolence and misrule.
A popular Nigerian Presidential candidate , planning to depose the PDP, will find it easy to get the region behind him because of how , coupled with a fair degree of political awareness, the Yoruba people are totally fed up of the PDP. It is commonsense that they will listen to voices like those of Governor Fashola and other respected Yoruba leaders. It is only Ekiti-style rigging that will 'win' the SW States for Jonathan. Gbawe and his bunch of half-truths. Ok tell me what happened in 2003 between OBJ and yorubas? |

said the governor should reconsider the way he was going about the demolition. An attempt by Amaechi to explain the situation sent the First Lady boiling.
She shouted at Amaechi: "Listen!, you must listen to me!"
The governor was embarrassed, like a scolded school pupil. The audience hailed Mrs Jonathan, goading the First Lady on.
The President’s wife, however, described land as a serious issue in Okrika and told Amaechi to always avoid "must" when talking about waterfronts’ demolition. The governor never mentioned "waterfronts", but Mrs. Jonathan went on: "I want you to get me clear. I am from here (Okrika). I know the problems of my people. So, I know what I am talking. I do not want us to go into crises. We are preaching peace and we must maintain peace at any time.
"But what I am telling you is that you always say you must demolish. That word ‘must, you use is not good. It is by pleading. You appeal to the owners of the compound, because they will not go into exile. Land is a serious issue." I think she should have managed her emotions better, but with women you never know. If Ameachi wanted private scolding, then he should have said things like that to her privately. You dont bring a woman before her people and make statements that are being contended by her people and expect her to keep quiet, thereby giving the impression that the first lady too is in support of the demolition.
I SEE ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WRONG IN HER STATEMENT. |

@Gbawe GEJ picking a campaign manager from the north is only a strategy to win some northern votes and has little or no connection with the PDP zoning argument. Forget an alliance with the north. They have never trusted the Igbos and are not likely to change now.
In the south the only group the CORE NORTH can comfortably work with is the SW. The SE and SS are not trusted and that is not likely to change, but if they are forced to choose, then you can be sure they can manage with the SS more. |
Politics › Re: 2011: Ibb’s Offer Is Best Option For South East – Obinna Uzoh by naso2(m): 5:28pm On Aug 23, 2010 |
@Beaf
Lets be realistic here the SE 2015 dream is unrealistic. Jonathan will not be able to handover to SE, even if he wants to. However the SS and SE can form an alliances where even in the GEJ years the goodies will go to both the SE and SS massively. The SE will also reciprocate when their term comes, after the north.
However if this alliance works, the old fence would have been rebuilt and the SE and SS will now henceforth be negotiating as one bloc. In the end everyone is happy.
But it will be utter foolishness for the SE to scuttle GEJ chances now and expect the SS to lie low and support their bid in 2015. |

Beaf: If GEJ's ambition is killed because of the Igbo - Ijo matter, don't be surprised if Pat Utomi's ambition is killed even before it leaves Delta state. And in Delta state, Ijo's are a minority. Think about it.
The whole ND is for GEJ, including politicians from opposing parties. The Igbo - Ijo matter needs to be resolved amicably, because we all lose; after which the bitterness will be entrenched and expanded to all SS and SE groups. We don't need it. Pat Utomi for where? What has he successfully managed before? If the Igbos are serious about the presidency in future then they need somebody in the mould of Sulivan. If all the media reports about Enugu are true , then he can start working to the national space from 2015. |

ziddy: True, you guys can just forget 2015 if Jonathan becomes President next year. Surprising that nobody understands too that 2015 dream of Igbos is very unlikely even if Jonathan does not become president. The truth is that if jonathan loses on the strength of Igbos voting for a northerner, they can as well forget the SS votes come 2015. And that is if IBB or any other northerner leaves after a single term. VERY VERY UNLIKELY. Yorubas will hardly align with the Igbos, at best they will be indifferent. The best bet for th SS and SE now is to bond together and put some pressure on other regions. Anything short will be a lose-lose for all. |

I will advice that they take the option that best suites them. The question now is , do they know the best option? are they taking a position based on proper appraisal of the political space? or is it revenge for the deeds of the SS or just hanging on promises from an individual whose record show a man with a penchant for explaining away why he can not keep prmosises?
The Igbos must note very clearly that if 40 years has not been able to erase the pains of the civil war, so has 40 years not doused the suspicion the average northerner has for the Igbos. LIKE IT OR NOT, THIS WILL DETERMINE WHAT HAPPENS IN 2015, EVEN WITH PDP ROTATION. |

omenkanwao: I have always said it that GEJ no matter hw gud he is does not represent the best interest of Ndiigbo come 2015, Supporting IBB or any other northerner is a more verifiable option for we Ndiigbo If The SE fails to support the SS now, then it is a given that the SS will not support the SE when 2015 comes and with that even with zoning of the PDP, the SE candidate will not win. It is that simple. |
