I have refrained from speaking on this Igbo support for jonathan or IBB for a long time . The SE no doubt is the beautiful bride in the coming elections but i expect them to be wise. I will advice that they take the option that best suites them. The question now is , do they know the best option? are they taking a position based on proper appraisal of the political space? or is it revenge for the deeds of the SS or just hanging on promises from an individual whose record show a man with a penchant for explaining away why he can not keep prmosises? The Igbos must note very clearly that if 40 years has not been able to erase the pains of the civil war, so has 40 years not doused the suspicion the average northerner has for the Igbos. LIKE IT OR NOT, THIS WILL DETERMINE WHAT HAPPENS IN 2015, EVEN WITH PDP ROTATION. something a lot of us seem to be be overlooking is that while the average southerner thinks the PDP zoning arrangement means power rotates amongst the six geopolitical regions( NW,NE,NC,SW,SS,SE), the north simply understands it as a purely NORTH and SOUTH rotation. The danger in this is that the same geopolitical region say NW can keep producing the president when it goes to the North. The same applies to the south too. The difference is that while the north will be able to handle it, for the south it will be a major problem becuase of the tribal divide and inhererent suscpicions. TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT, IF THE NORTH HAS TO CHOOSE BETWEEN ,SS,SE,SW, YOU CAN BE SURE THAT THE SW WILL BE THEIR OVERWHELMING FAVOURITE ANYDAY. If The SE fails to support the SS now, then it is a given that the SS will not support the SE when 2015 comes and with that even with zoning of the PDP, the SE candidate will not win. It is that simple. Is the presidency a must for the SS at this time? I will say certainly not. What the SS needs is massive development and federal presence that properly represent its contibution to the nigerian economy. Development that will drastically reduce youth restiveness and prepare the people for the days after oil, afterall it is estimated that our reserves may not last more that 35 years from now. It is common knowledge that aside the gigantic campaign promises of successive governments , there has been virtually no work done over the years, hence it understandable if the average ND man now thinks that it might just be different this time, if our son is the steersman for the nation this time. I believe the SE should get serious commitments from jonathan on massive developments in the SE, during the period of wait. The truth is that the SE and SS are so connected that development or crime in one region inadvertently affects the other. I therefore think it will be foolishness on GEJ's part , to ignore the SE if he plans lasting peace and development in the SS. I am very sure that period of wait for the Igbos will defintively not be less than 8 yrs.(may be i am wrong). IBB will never do 1 term If IBB wins and stays for 8 years at the expense of GEJ,then we can all be sure that it will take the SS,some die hard northern elements and an indiffent SW to scuttle the plan. This is one time the SE, and SS need to bond together. Anything short will be a lose-lose for both regions. QED. |

johnie:quickly? for 30 years? I comment my reserve. hmmmmmmm |
wetin dey worry siasia sef? abi family winch dey pursue am? why throw an opportunity like this away on the grounds of very high demands? Let him negotiate for 5m and forget. which one be 15m, who go pay am that kind money? |
tpiah:Why not take it the other way. What evidence do you have that the people were carried along, with all facts brought to the open for them to decide from the outset? Akanbi_edu:Oga, If the cost of "development" is to pay toll for 30 years at three different points over a 49 km stretch , all because a 2-lane road was expanded to three, leaving residents with no alternative, then let development not come. Nuff said |
^^^^^^^^^^^ Madam telepathic. The Lagos state govt knows better than everyone else. There is no point consulting. Project management that considers the interest and buy-in of stakeholders is foolishness to lagos state govt. see ur logic? |
tpiah:I am really surprised that people like you seem to be supporting this display of rascality by the govt. This is total disdain for those that elected them. What you are saying now is that a govt comes with one cooked up "PPP" and says certain parts of the state can no longer be accessed for free, without any alternative and you expect people to celebrate? If they want PPP , let them build the 4th Mainland bridge and collect even 2000 per trip. The difference then will be that people will still have options. But for this one I want to say NO-WAY. |
bump |
This thread will remain alive till the elections. ![]() |
SanFranc:You are joking, right? They(Fashola and his Oga) are accountable to the electorate. There is simply no justification for adding one lane to a 2-lane road and start tolling it for 30yrs. PPP my foot. PPP should have started with a completely new alternative road. |
All these peope wey dey vote for internet. I hope you guys will remember to register sha? |
safariman:answer: President Goodluck Jonathan has announced the appointment of Professor Precious Kassey Garba as his Chief Economic Adviser. |
omoabike:My own point even is that , the tolling should be for the alternative road. Government can not just come and add one lane to a free 2-lane road and begin tolling. That is irresponsibility. I now see the problems we face when we lack credible opposition. Nothing annoys more that the fact that other political parties in the state have turned voiceless. |
^^^^^^^ Do you have a problem with that? |
All our social crusaders are pretending not to see. Why nobody has deemed it fit to get proper interpretation of this action in a competent court still baffles me. |
Someone is a staunch IBB supporter The same person is very sure IBB will win The same person is confident the election will definitely be rigged and the biggest name wins. I see. I think your man is now very sure he is not popular with voters. . . . . . you will be more than shocked. JUNE 12 haunts. |
^^^^^^^^^^^ hey, can we leave queen Dora out of this pleaseeeeee? ![]() |
^^^^^^^^^^ Politically it might be suicidal if ACN does not present anyone for presidency thats how AD lost out in 2003. I also think a northerner will be the only appealing candidate. So the ribadu theory looks real to me. But he will definitely not win. |
How dull can someone get? Simple instruction people have given you is go, tell GEJ what you just said on facebook. Do really need everybody to advice govt? This is the first time a president is making it clear that even if i have a physical cordon around me for security reasons, I am trying to tear down the wall ideologically. let me know your views and how we can better governance. |
I hope this woman help place SLS in his rightful place. Dem no suppose dey use sudanese diploma in bombing studies dey run economy. |
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ person wey do you dis thing wicked oh ![]() |
@PapaBrowne The problem with this your analysis is that even if jonathan leads others in the votes count, he still will not have the mandatory 25% of 2/3 of all states. Hence a run-off is likely and the northern candidate might emerge. Jonathan has to do everything to get atleast 65% of SW votes. |
In actual sense , the alternative route is what Govt should have built and tolled. What is socialist in demanding that a free 27 yr old two-lane road be made 3 lanes for free? |
Kobojunkie:Gbam. God bless u. |
GAR3TH:A state government built a 2-lane road that brought massive development to a hitherto undeveloped area of the state, after 27 years, the only way a new government responds to the traffic challenges is to add one lane and concession it for 30 years. I think in the spirit of equity all other state roads should be upgraded and tolled, afterall the people around lekki axis pay taxes too. Nonsense. |
andromida:The answer to the bolded text is not difficult to find. Just do a quick check on where the PTF projects for 8 solid years went to, then you understand better. His ethnic and religious leanings are far too dangerous for this country , if he becomes president. |
^^^^^^^^^^^^ Gbawe don dey turn to comedian small, small If Abba-Aji makes a false claim like this against the NA. I expect them(NA) to come out and state the exact date when it was passed to the president. But Gbawe already knows who is telling a lie. later dem go say na dem be broad-minded progressives. On the issue of only card carrying members voting in primaries, I dont understand how that works against jonathan alone. One thing you want to ask is , how long did it take the NA to scrutinise and pass the bill? If the president's endorsement is required, at least you expect him to take sometime to look at the ammendments the NA may have made to the bill. We know we are running out of time but a 3-5 day check by the president will not be too much for an important bill like this. HABA As for the source you asked for : http://www.tribune.com.ng/index.php/front-page-news/9918-no-preferential-treatment-for-presidential-aspirants-pdp-explains-delay-in-release-of-election-guidelines-electoral-bill-president-just-received-copy-tuesday-abba-aji |
question: Gbawe:Answer: But the Special Adviser to the President on National Assembly Matters, Senator Mohammed Abba-Aji, told the Nigerian Tribune, on Wednesday, that the clean draft of the bill only got to the presidency late on Tuesday.Hope we are ? |
which kind wayo be dis na? Abeg my state Bayelsa is too low. Abi una zone dis one too? ![]() |
jamace:I am a fulltime Dora Fan. I know she , like all of us has her flaws though. |
^^^^^^^^^^^ I am against IBB in every sense. His name should not appear on the ballot sheet even for the least popular party, I know of Dele Giwa, gloria okon, C130,june 12, gulf war windfall, however I dont seem to understand this Vatsa angle to the crimes he committed. Are we saying there was no coup plot by Vatsa? |
OMO IBO:Yes o. everybodi come inside. dem go soon show. dis na better market for dem. |
