Politics / How Nigeria Can Best React To Igbos UK Asylum by NASTYNASOSO: 5:36am On Apr 24, 2021 |
UK’s decision to give asylum to IPOB and MOSSOB members should not be a cause for much concern to the Nigerian government if it can get its diplomatic acts right . Left to me the FG should even assist by providing free transportation and BTA to any member of these organisations that intend to emigrate to the UK, plus, all those hardened criminals, murderers, drug barons and Yahoo Biafrans should be released from various jails and shipped to the UK to enable them benefit from UK’s magnamity and let’s see how it goes. Fidel Castro use this method in 1980 when the United States govt. offered asylum to Cuban dissidents, Known in history as Mariel boatlift, it was a mass emigration of Cubans, who traveled from Cuba's Mariel Harbor to the United States between 15 April and 31 October 1980. After 10,000 Cubans tried to gain asylum by taking refuge on the grounds of the Peruvian embassy, the Cuban government announced that anyone who wanted to leave could do so. The ensuing mass migration was organized by Cuban Americans, ( their own Nnamdi Kanus) with the agreement of Cuban President Fidel Castro. The arrival of the refugees in the United States created big political problems for US President Jimmy Carter. The Carter administration struggled to develop a consistent response to the immigrants, and many of the refugees had been released from jails and mental health facilities in Cuba. Few months to the program crime rate in Florida the nearest state to Cuba incresed by 80% while the famed exotic Miami beaches became the rape capital of the U.S The Mariel boatlift was ended by “mutual agreement” between the two governments (Carter actually begged Castro) in late October 1980. By then, as many as 125,000 Cubans had reached Florida. Let Nigeria respond to UK’s overtures to Biafrans in the same manner and see how sympathetic and compassionate the UK’s government is towards “ oppressed” people. Travel / NRC begins Cattle Train Shuttle across the country after 30 years by NASTYNASOSO: 12:29am On Apr 11, 2021 |
Solutions, solutions and more solutions!!! Nigeria I hail thee. Forward ever! The take-off of the cattle train shuttle from Gusau, Zamfara State, to Lagos signals the Nigerian Railway Corporation’s (NRC) determination to drive the marketing side of agriculture to boost the economy,. IN a bold move to create jobs and guarantee food security, the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) resumed cattle train service with the delivery of 500 cows and rams from the North to Oko-Oba, Agege Lairage in Lagos. The service, which was suspended 30 years ago, was resuscitated by the Nigeria Incentives-Based Risk Sharing System for Agricultural Lending (NIRSAL). It began with the movement of 500 cattle under its Farm-to-Market scheme from Gusau, the Zamfara State capital, to Lagos last Thursday. The 15-wagon train, which took off from Gusau at about 4am on Friday, arrived at the Iju Train Station at about 3.30 pm on Saturday, after stopping at Minna, Niger State, Ibadan, Oyo State and Ifo, Ogun State. The journey lasted 36 hours as against the three days it usually takes to transport the cattle by road. The departure was witnessed by Zamfara State Deputy Governor Alhaji Ibrahim Wakkala, officials of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), and representatives of international development partners and international finance institutions. Among persons at the Iju station to welcome the train were Managing Director of Connect Rail Service, Edeme Kelikume, representatives of banks, other private sector players, livestock traders, some NRC officials led by the Director of Operations, Niyi Alli; representatives of NIRSAL and the leadership of the Oko-Oba Cattle Traders Association. 1 Like |
