Why are you guys shitting your pants? This is only a friendly game.

The last time you guys met, Kante disappeared, Luiz went on leave and Batman was nowhere to be found. And to top it all, they won the FA Cup, with a scoreline which flattered you guys.

Save your screamings for the real thing ojare.

My boy has deteriorated in some ways.

Decision making seems to be a big problem for him now. Then his pace too, he isn't that swift lad I used to follow.
Wouldn't say so. He's been trying to add more to his game. He wasn't allowed to play his favorite position at Granada. He was made to play on the wings and he had to develop that side of his game. That's why his game play may look different.

Lukaku has been playing regular pro football for like 6 years now, that's enough for a striker to improve certain aspects of his game

Lukaku's link up play hasn't improved in 5 years now,it will never improve
His first touch?oops
His big game mentality? Ouch

Lukaku is not really 24,his career is more like a 27 year old already.... At 18,his agemates were playing U-19 youth games while he was bossing the Belgian league
He didn't even rot on the bench at Chelsea,he went on loans and added to his game

Morata didn't have that kind of opportunity.....If he adds Stamina and Power(a big "IF" that's why I called him a risk),there is no way Lukaku will stand him at 28

Drogba at 25 was scoring 9 league goals, and he didn't improve much in 2 seasons, how many of his mates that were banging in goals at that time could stand him at 29?

Morata scored 7 goals in the UCL knockout stages with Juventus in one season,Lukaku has 5 goals against the top 6 teams in 3 years

Lukaku is a finished product,Morata isn't...... Lukaku is more matured, but Morata gat the potential
There is a reason he was 1st on Jose and Conte's list

I know you believe only carpenters can hammer a point home, but surgeons are very versatile and good with their hands so permit me to hit this nail on your head.......Morata has more potential in his left boot than Lukaku's entire body
It's not like Nihilist lacks the fundamental capacity to understand ceiling levels, it's just that when it comes to Lukaku, Nihilist melts. grin grin grin

He just points you to Lukaku's goals. To Nihilist, any other point is over analysis.

He doesn't seem to care about how Lukaku's ability improves other team mates. Instead, it's all about others supplying him.

70m should be buying solid experience, even in this bloated market.

Belotti is too much of an unknown quantity to be purchased for anywhere near the figures quoted. I find it funny how you're talking about Belotti being 23 and being a better candidate. Lukaku is 24 and has significant local and European experience, as well as over 120 career goals to boast of...but you weren't considering his young age and capacity to improve when you kept announcing that no big club will buy him. grin grin

If age is a factor, then we already have a 33m pound 23 year old striker on our books, who can possibly improve in the long run, while we get an experienced striker in right now.

There's no logical justification for a belotti transfer...especially at that price

I say no to Belotti
Firstly, I did state categorically that only Ronaldo level talent should worth that amount.

Secondly, we've been through this Lukaku thingy. It doesn't matter that he is 24, he lacks the fundamental requirements to take us to the next level. We've come a long way in our building. At least for once, the rhetoric of sexy football doesn't winning matches is dead forever.

Jam body football is gone. I hate to see us spend £80m to bring it back.

Please spare us of this annoying and boring excuse which is borne out of hate and jealousy for our success not facts. You hate United for her success not because we inflated the transfer market.

Normally when Hensben goes about displaying this sorta ignorance -he's the one always blaming United from thread to thread- I ignore him because his football reasoning is very low, but when a supposedly intelligent poster like you displays such ignorance, I wonder how you let hate get better of you so easily. It's okay to hate United, I hate Chelshit too, but being objective shouldn't hurt you that much.

Right from the 70s to the 80s, to the 90s down to the 20s, football record have been broken and been on the rise. It had nothing to do with United ALONE. The records broken in those decades have been broken by many clubs, and have gone from when 500k was a world record to when 1m was a world record. If you do a through search, you'll see when 50k was probably a world record.

Do you know that The first ever three-figure transfer fee was the £100 paid by Aston Villa in 1893 for Willie Groves? Eleven years later, Alf Common joined Middlesbrough for the first ever four-figure fee, a sum which caused a national sensation and outrage amongst the football authorities. The £5,000 mark was first reached in 1922 when Falkirk paid that amount for West Ham United's Syd Puddefoot , and six years later Arsenal paid the first ever £10,000 fee to acquire David Jack of Bolton Wanderers . After the Second World War, the spending power of clubs in mainland Europe outstripped that of British clubs for the first time, resulting in several substantial jumps in the transfer record. John Charles became the first British player to command a fee of £50,000 when he joined Juventus in 1957, and four years later Denis Law joined Torino in the first £100,000 transaction involving a British club.

I'm sure Pogba's deal was the reason David Jack was transferred for a world record fee when Arsenal paid £10,890 to Bolton for his services, after Bolton had asked for £13,000, which was double the previous record made when Sunderland signed Burnley 's Bob Kelly a fee of for £6,500. Yes o, Pogba in 2017 was the reason for that record in over 30 years ago. Clap for yourself.

Yes, United were the club that bought those players for a record fee, abi? Blame it on United because you're envious of their success, that's what haters do all the time.

United were the one that paid a record fee of 15m for Shearer? United were the club that paid a record fee for a goalkeeper when Juve bought Buffon, right? Because United is the surname of Juventus. United were the ones that created the Galactico spending, based on paying huge fees for the best players out there back then. United were the ones that paid huge sum of €69m for Ibrahimovic. United were the one that paid a world record fee for Kaka And another one for Ororo in ONE transfer window. United were the one that paid a record fee for Bale, abi. If the truth about Neymar's are revealed including all the bribes given, we'll be looking at almost a 100mil deal. Yes, Neymar plays for United, abi?

I'm not done yet. Where was this your wish for Chelshit to be burned down and destroyed when Abrahimovic came into the game and bought the likes of Essien, Drogba and Co for huge fees back then, contributing majorly to the madness in this transfer window? Oh, your hypocrisy blinded you from that fact? No, wait a minute. When Chelshit sold Luiz for a record fee to PSG, can you show us your post condemning it, o ye righteous one?!! It's okay for Chelsea to sell players for huge fees abi, but when asked to pay for a huge fee you blame United. Typical Shekpe fan. Can you show us your post condemning the sell of Oscar for a Chinese record? Yeah, I'm sure you're in a coma when that deal happened. When Wengay was complaining about the money Shekpe and City were spending, I'm sure you weren't born then.

Chelshit will be burned down first for their contribution to this madness before we get relegated.

*In P. Diddy's voice* You jealous motherphuckas!!

Isn't Auba being quoted at £70m? In a straight choice between Auba and Bellotti, considering all factors, it's insane to spend that amount on a 29-year old, despite Auba being the more established. One long term injury and that's £70m gone. Unless I am wrong about the asking price.

Although I am not supporting spending £80m on a player who is not Ronaldo level, if we have to bend to the market trend, then it has to be Bellotti. If the unfortunate happens, I don't believe he can be as bad as not being able to recoup £35-£40m on him, because he is 23. How bad can he be?

Summary. I don't believe, considering all factors and variables, that Auba is better valued at £70m than Bellotti is at £80m.

Side note: When did we get comfortable quoting such figures regularly on transfer pages? God Punish United. I hope they get relegated.

When I said 'almost', Borini was the target.

Ogbonna was in the Champions League final with Juve only a few months before he signed for WestHam. He had also played for Italy at Euro 2012. He definitely had a big reputation when he arrived.

I don't want to hear any excuses for Balotelli abeg. It's not like he really shone for Man City other than the few good games.

Same as all those other guys.

We are talking about Capped Internationals here for Italy not Benin Republic... yet not one can be described as a success in any context while playing in England.

Why?

How come?
Capped internationals because there's been a dearth of quality strikers in Italian football. And that's the point, not the fact that they are capped. Would these players smell invites, let alone shirts, when Roberto Baggio wore the Azzurri colours?

That's the point.

You don't have to be elite to make an impact in EPL football.

Graziano Pelle, balotelli, Dani Osvaldo, Fabio Borini, Angelo Ogbonna, emanuelle Giacherini and co have all been capped for Italy, and almost all of these players arrived on these shores with high expectations based on their exploits back home.

All of them flopped. All.

Jury is still out on Galbadini.
I can state categorically that Fabio Borini didn't arrive on these shores with high expectations. Fabio Borini grew up in Chelsea Academy. There were no expectations. Graziano didn't have a bad first season. Balotelli had attitudinal problems. Osvaldo scored a total of 27 over 3 seasons for Roma. Not quite a player with high expectations.

Giacherini highest total for any Serie A team is 7 goals. High expectations? Ogbonna? Are we serious?

Bellotti's career at 23 is already bigger than the whole those players' careers combined if I leave out Balotelli.

I am not rooting for a Bellotti signing (although I will be glad if we did sign him), I wouldn't despise him either on the basis that he is Italian. None of those aforementioned players at 23, did or could do what Bellotti is now doing. The more reason I believe he can make it in the PL.

Fine. So at this point, who do you think will be the best fit for us? If you're rejecting Costa, who should we go for?
I understand that you are trying to balance all sides but as most have stated, I have to agree. Once we compromise on the level of ethical and professional responsibility expected from players, there's no knowing how bad it could get.

For the mere fact that begging Costa might undermine Conte's authority, I will say a big no.

As I have said before, we don't need a 30-goal striker to be competitive. We just need a seriously fluid and prolific forward line. And there are options. As a stop gap, I will go with Llorente. With the right method of play, Llorente will guarantee at least 17 goals. He might be able to do well over 20. I will go with Ihenacho and Batman as backups.

We also need other 2 players in the forward line to be prolific enough to contribute at least 15 goals. For this, I will go for the Lorenzo Insigne, Keita Balde.

I suspect that we will be leaning towards a 3-5-2 next season. Going by our total goals of 85 last season, we just need our forward 5 players to be at 17-goal-a-season contributors and we are well on our mark to achieving the 85-goal mark and putting ourselves in prime position for retaining the league, if we can maintain solidity at the back like last season.

It doesn't have to be done with Costa.

With our new stadium project coming up, we have to be extremely meticulous in our planning and decision making.
Just as a point of correction. FFP rules actually exclude the injection of cash by way of infrastructural contribution to a club from club owners. This means that Roman can spend £1bn on a Chelsea Stadium without FFP consequences.

So technically we don't have to be cautious with signings as it has no bearings on stadium plans. Our Financial results over the past few years suggest that we cannot finance a stadium from pure club earnings anyway, so all points to the fact that Roman will be financing this himself.
