It's just the way some folks are making it seem it's the first time Jose has gone on cautious mode against rivals.
As long as we can be getting maximum points against lower opposition, Mou can move a junk yard to our part of the pitch against any of our rivals till our team Chemistry is good to go!
Wailers should go and quench!!! I laugh in chemistry. Dey dere dey wait. Others siddon dey look abi? Others are drilling their teams to play free-flowing attacking football that involves heavy defending from the front. Jose is defending from the back. |

Arsenal attacked them and were swept aside, what's to say we won't get swept aside if we go all attack against them, Chelsea didn't even go all attack against them and yet you guys lose, it's just a game and you can't judge a man by it. The intention of adding Mata and Mhkitaryan to the list is to remind you of the wealth of arsenal possessed at the club. And that at the disposal of someone different, united will be playing some dangerous attacking football with Ibra already the league's top scorer. Do you think Pep will be benching those two if he were at United? Conversely, if City had made the mistake of hiring JM, the likes Silva will not be playing and DeBryune will not be playing and you fellas will be telling the same thing. Tell me honestly, do you think JM is going to attack Chelsea on the weekend? Your honest answer will put an end to this argument. |

donjazet: Noticed how many times you used that word.?? Now we are on the same page! That is what I have been saying since!! That is the baseline of this argument. I am saying its too early to start judging him. It's not as if manu are so terrible right now. By December/january, the judgements can start falling out but it is still early to say mourinho is a failure at manu.
On a side note, I can't believe you would want to just wave his achievements with the flap of your hands and put it just down to the amount spent. Many people would not want to state his net spend, apart from his first spell in Chelsea and last summer in manu, his modus operandi has been to sell some players and get quality players in return. Zlatan for eto, militio Higuain for dimaria, modric Davidluiz, schurle, debruyne for Costa, fabregasn and Filipe Luis. That's good transfer policy which brought the immediate successes. And Moreso not many coaches who spend a lot of money utilise them well as mourinho has done.
Rodgers threw away about 90million on flops. Van goal spent close to 300million and couldn't achieve something tangible. Mate. You are applying my use of time in a misconstrued context. Please read again. And please don't attempt to re-write history. Jose has never been a shrewd transfer manager and will never be. His modus-operandi is clear-out and then spend big. If the Technical Directors and finance guys behind the scene manage to get good money for those that have been flogged out, then that's a good. Not a point to score for JM. He doesn't concern himself with sh1t like that. Even if the player goes for a £1, he doesn't phucking care. If you don't give him his spend, the fighting starts. |

donjazet: Mancity were much more settled and balanced before pep came. What they lacked was just the consistency. Read the daily mail article above. A poll was carried out after the match for the fans to say how they felt and a whooping 82% felt satisfied. Listen, I really don't know what you guys are really trying to Say. Mou is one of the best coaches in the world. For forks sake, he has the highest trophy count amongst all the coaches. He doesn't have anything to prove. His last league was won at almost a canter with an almost average team. That'has got to count, don't you think? What does that even mean? Both managers knew they were taking over their respective sides at about the same time. Both Managers had the summer to identify their targets and spend. Both Managers had access to similar amounts of funds. So what exactly is the argument here. Mind you, we are not asking why he hasn't won the league yet? We are asking why he was defending with 9 players and million pound players. The reason I am not buying your argument, is that I know for a fact that come next season, he is going to do the same thing to City, Chelsea, Liverpool, Spurs and Arsenal. I will be waiting patiently here to listen to the new reason that is. You say the poll says United fans are satisfied? Quote this post and keep. It's just a matter of time. And to squash that last part once and for all. "Highest trophies and nothing to prove" only applies to the blinkered JM fans in tinted glasses. I will stand here and tell you any day, that at least half a billion Euros has been spent to achieve that and he's done so in circumstances of moderate tactical and financial competition. For the first time in his career, he is right in the mix; competing against 5 other genuine league contenders who can also match his spending power. The league's gone from a top four to a proper top six. And there's the "Evertons" who are now genuine spoilers in the 7th to 10th. Who says he has nothing to prove? This is where it will become clear for everyone to see that his style of football will not stand the test of time. |

MadCow1: I concur..
But it should be handed to them via the proper channels.. Menaing they recover the loot, account for their recovery to the Finance Ministry or whoever is in charge and then it is given to them from the top.
Same for the Police. They should be allowed to keep a percentage of monies the recover from Tickets, fines and the likes.. No it doesn't and shouldn't work that way. This is why there is a budget. We don't deny the Magu-led agency deserves more funding but it should receive any funds from its own official finance channels, after spending proposals have been duly received, analyzed and approved. To create a direct funding system from the loot recovered is capable of creating conflict of interest across all levels of the agency. And we certainly don't want that. |

donjazet: What else would you have him say? Of course sniffling out the opponents fluid attack was his game plan and it worked but that was because the opponents in this case were quite better than his. As for your half-a-billion pound statement, I think that argument is stale as it has been proved countlessly that price doesn't equate quality in football. Are you admitting then that he spent money unwisely? Either way, there is a lot wrong with his approach and time doesn't solve those problems, as you are trying to make us believe. How do you think Pep is faring under the same conditions? |

That annoying mentality of thinking "To set up otherwise, is to lose the game". Apologies, perhaps I didn't get the memo. When did Liverpool become this all conquering, free scoring side, obliterating everything in their path? So much that to set up otherwise against Liverpool is akin to being on a "SURE PATH" to losing the game. |

Nihilist: Have a look at the stats below.
The likes of Griezman and Muller arent necessarily taking that many more shots than Hazard. Griezmann in particular took exactly the same number of shots as Hazard that year....and even had a lower shot accuracy...yet he scored more goals.
I posted earlier how 8 la liga teams in 2014/15 conceded 60+ goals that year, unlike England where only 1 team had such a shockingly bad defence, so perhaps this positively affected Griezmann's scoring rate.
But it's the number of keypasses I want to bring to your attention. Muller and Griezmann made significantly fewer key passes than Hazard - this is a function of players who are exclusively focused on scoring - Yet are unable to post significantly better raw numbers when it comes to shooting and goal scoring.
Ronaldo and Messi on the other hand have fantastic shooting AND passing numbers...and to me this is a clearest indicator of the skill bracket Hazard belongs to.
Griezmann is exclusively focused on scoring and yet cannot actually outshoot Hazard...
Hazard's problem is a mental problem, he has what it takes to at least be close to Ronaldo and Messi if not stay on par with them. Nihilist, good job man. A brilliant exercise of quoting stats but fully understanding the full interpretation of the figures. |

A few questions.
What kind of nails do you use for the skirting boards? Do you use a Pneumatic Nailer to get the nails in? Do you install wood flooring? Do you install false walls with plaster boards/Polysterene? Do you take on projects from a different Architect? Do you install wooden stairs like this ?

I think where this argument gets completely missed is the comparison to Messi/Ronaldo and their near "GOAT" status. In that, I mean, when you compare anyone to Messi and/or Ronaldo, then ridiculous consistency and incredible stats come into the picture.
However, in a different era, Hazard, "stats wise", needs only to be as good as Zidane, to be WPOTY. And we all know baba never posted these Messi/Ronaldo figures. |

When I was parading Hazard publically, my expectation of him was world footballer of the year. You lads are celebrating 44 goals in 4 years when we should be getting that in one and a half seasons.
A better discussion will be why he has not reached the expected heights. Get a grip guys. |

Well deserved. I thought we played really well. I like the options the set-up creates in midfield. The extra player allows passing options which lets us create chances - 16 attempts (can anyone check this, this will be close to our highest in a long time) - and allowing us to press easily with 7 players, defend from midfield and alleviate pressure on defence. |

Nihilist: Pedro slipped and fell and kicked the ball The ball bounced off two defenders and fell to hazard who rounded the keeper...what the bloody hell does that have to tactics?
Gramme sourness just said now for the first goal that "it's not as if it was clever movement from Costa"
Thierry is just saying that the ball should never have reached Hazard as well..
You seem to have a short memory and maybe different expectations to me. This is exactly how we started this season...until we jammed multiple trailers back to back.
For me I expect a minimum of a top 4 finish from this squad, so I expect to win games like this by default. The difference between you and me, is that I expect tactical excellence.
LVG achieved a top 4 finish and won a trophy in maligned tenure. Pellegrini won the league and never finished outside the top 4...yet...
I hope that can inject some nuance into thus convo, otherwise I'm done. The important point to note is that, in a 4-3-3, Pedro and Hazard address never in those positions to start with. This is why it is tactical and the primary reason Hazard can receive the ball. Forget the mistake. Tactics are implemented to 1. Create your own chances, 2. Cause your opposition to make mistakes and 3. Be in a position to capitalize on a mistake by your opponent. What else is tactical brilliance? By the way, we didn't start the season this way, we started with a 4-3-3 |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by nateevs(m): 1:26pm On Oct 15, 2016 |
nateevs: The mistake came about from the defenders second guessing the intentions of Hazard running through the centre, almost playing sometimes as a second striker. Hazard has been able to do that because Marcos is providing width on the left. Marcos is able to provide that width quickly because his starting position is from the middle of the pitch and not from full back position. All this is happening because Conte is implementing a 3-4-3.
How can this not be seen? Bingo. If I didn't type this before Henry's analysis, I might have been accused of rehashing aired analysis. Henry just said exactly what I said. And I was able to see that without slow motion. |
