dayokanu: Ba don score already

He probably brought the chance from home or created it for himself by collect the ball from the keeper and driblled all the way to the goal

AWARENESS and INSTINCT on the field thats how strikers score most goals
Dayoooo! The same goal Torres scored a few weeks ago and you called a "tap in". Demba will probably score more goals than Torres but at least be fair in your analysis.

The talk of diamond is born out of speculation of Torres and Demba playing together which I really doubt. It will quickly become clear why it should never happen. Chelsea are in for more players in the window. I will be waiting to see the kind of players we bring. Only then will it be revealed if there is a chance for a diamond formation. However, based of the way the team's been forming up, I am leaning towards the continuation of a 4-2-3-1. With the links to Benat Etxebarria and Clasie Jordie, we might no longer be seeing one or all of Ramires, Luiz and Mikel in the deep lying positions.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by nateevs(m): 8:49pm On Jan 04, 2013
Welcome Demba. For me, no 4-4-2. That's just straight up suicidal. We haven't got the personnel to execute it even if we wanted to. Demba or Torres. That's the way it's got to be. May the better striker hold down the spot.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by nateevs(m): 12:25pm On Jan 03, 2013
You talk a load of nonsense. The chance of QPR scoring from those two unmarked men with an easy pass from SWP if Lamps over commits is much greater than the chances of SWP getting his shot in from that distance. That's why Lamps paused to think about it instead of rushing straight out. Imagine someone telling me Ivanovic is not detailed to rush out. Is he the only one marking in the box? Are others not marking just like him including Lamps himself. The same way Ivanovic did not rush out is the same way Lamps paused to consider the man he was marking, everyone expecting of course that Mata whose job it is to block shots on the edge of the dee will cover his zone. . . so stop ranting nonsense.
And you are talking a load of rubbish. What distance? It was about 20 yards Ibime. How can it be hard getting it on goal. What's even worse is that SWP didn't even need to be accurate. He only had to pull the trigger and a deflection would take the shot in. THe shot had to be stopped. Full stop. I have no idea why you moving from post to pillar to make up excuses.

To your second point, Lamps was not the only player in the box. Had Lamps committed to closing down SWP, the chances of QPR scoring from a pass to one of his players in the box is slimmer because there were more Chelsea bodies in the box who were closer to the QPR men in the box than there were on SWP. Lampard was closest to the danger and hence had to react. If Lamps, closed the space, SWP would have had to make a pass instead. The resultant effect may or may not be a goal conceded however, the initial is averted. That is the responsibility of a defensive minded player. Stop making excuses.

Lamps has the highest rating on any website you wish to check for yesterday's game, so take off your rose-tinted glasses. You are obviously the only person who credited the goal to Lamps, not the hundreds of journalists who watched the match.
You are not only wrong about this, you are lying. Show the credible website that rated Lampard the highest.

You have managed to change this into an anti-Lampard campaign. It isn't. Everyone agrees, even opposition fans. Debo, Coogar and El Guapo are saying the same thing, you are claiming I am the only saying Lamps should have closed down.

What annoyed people more is you claiming it is almost impossible to lose without Lamps. First game after your misuse of stats, we lose and naturally people will call you out.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Regarding Torres, I am not silent mate. I maintain the same stance. Show me where Lamps and his cohorts created one single chance for Torres yesterday in the first half. They created none. You are going on about how Torres cannot play in deep defense. Sorry mate, he cannot. What he can do, he does well and that is playing in between the lines. Same way Lamps cannot take the ball to the wings, beat a player with trick and cross the ball but you still call him the best midfielder in the PL even when the likes of Mata, Carzola and Fabregas can do that with ease. How poor do you think Lamps will turn out if you put him on the end of a 4-3-3?

So if you want Torres to work, you play to his strengths.

That said, Torres is not the only and best striker around. If you want a striker that can play with his back to goal, get out and buy one. Don't blame Torres for not being strong with his back to goal and claim Lampard is alright not being able to play on the wings.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by nateevs(m): 2:14am On Jan 03, 2013
Ibime: Win an argument you lost already? You made this argument in September.

This is no time to rehash your foolish theories. You theorised about how Ramires woulda closed midfield down, would use his speed to plug gaps and such and such. . . that was 4 months ago. . . .we have 4 months of EVIDENCE to show that your theories were a MONUMENTAL FAILURE!!

24 goals conceded in 12 games and 4 wins in 4 months for Mikel/Ramires partnership and knocked out of UCL. Im just humouring your foolish rehashing of old and FAILED arguments.
I'm sorry mate. The reason we conceded that amount of goals was solely because of RDM. I am sick of how you praise Lampard when we win and quote isolated stats to back it up yet criticize others for losses even when Lamps plays in the same team. With the same players, Benitez has managed to stabilize things and stopped us from conceding goals. Yet you are still blaming others for those losses.

It's a simple thing people are trying to point out here. Lampard in the double pivot can be very harmful. You think he should be the first name on the team sheet. People are pointing out how Lamps was not quick to close down a player who was poised to shoot, you are blaming Mikel who didn't play and criticizing Ramires who only got introduced after the game was lost. The first instinct of a defensive minded player is to avert danger. You are making an excuse Lamps for pausing to stay on a man "without the ball" whilst exonorating him for not closing down the man "with the ball". What's even funny is that you ask me to blame Ivanovic - a player whose tactical position after a cross into the box is to be in the box to avert any aerial attack - all in the aim to shift blame.

When there's a win, you come out with stats whilst ignoring the underlying issues/factors responsible for a loss/win. In the Everton game with Luiz and Lampard in double pivot these are the stats:-

Passing
Luiz: 54 passes, 74% accuracy, 2 key passes, 9 long balls
Lampard: 49 passes, 61% accuracy, 2 key passes, 2 long balls

Various:
Luiz: 2 tackles, 4 interceptions, 6 clearances, 3 fouls, 2 aerial duals won, 1 shot.
Lampard: 2 tackles, 1 interception, 1 clearance, 0 fouls, 0 aerial duals won, 4 shots.

Minus the 2 goals, over the 90mins, in about the same position, Luiz contributed more than Lampard did offensively and defensively. Yes he came up with 2 goals but who knows what may have happened had Luiz not 4 interceptions, 6 clearances and aerial duels won? Maybe Lamps goals would have been a little too late.

Instead, you run here and tell us why we would not have won had Lamps not played. I personally will find a role for Lamps but only in a 4-3-3. Not ever in a 4-2-3-1. The number of times he gave the ball away yesterday was worrying for a defensively positioned player.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by nateevs(m):
Ibime: Did we concede because Lamps did not sit back?
I don't suppose you saw their goal did u? Even if you didn't see it live, you would have seen the replay.
This is the point El Guapo was trying to make. Had Ramires been playing, he would have closed the space SWP needed to aim at goal.

But I don't expect you to see that. There are more intricate things to a game of football than blaming Torres.
When Rafa needed a goal, he took Lamps off. You think he isn't aware that Lamps is a threat?

For 60mins, we didn't play jack. We suddenly looked like scoring after Hazard and Mata came on.

However, you ignore important things like this and attribute percentage success on the pitch to the input of one man.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by nateevs(m): 10:41pm On Jan 02, 2013
Absolutely unbelievable. With Arsenal V City and Spurs V Utd coming up, Rafa should have known that closing up the gap was more important. Luiz Ramires in Defensive Midfield. Mata, Hazard, Oscar upfront. Full on. We would have buried this long ago. Against Southampton, then rest these players.

I suppose we won't be seeing any stats of wins per player played today. Rubbish!
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by nateevs(m): 10:19pm On Jan 02, 2013

Please provide the games won with/without Lampard stats. Along with goals conceded. Was Lampard absent when Chelski was hammered 5-3 at SB?
Certainly not absent when we were hammered 4-0 as well by AM. And yes also present in the final of the CWC.

El Guapo: One thing U can Xpect from a Redknapp team is Work ethic and am Sure QPR would fancy a Point against Us later today.

So lemme know frm u Ladies who u think will fit Well in the Starting Eleven against Rangers.

For me, Victor Moses needs to come back into the starting eleven. His direct attacking style on one side with Eden Hazard on the other provides us with plenty of options going forward and natural width. Juan Mata should continue pulling the string in the middle of the park once again but if anything, we could see Mata rested for this one with Oscar playing in that position as the latter would provide more Physical Presence in that Crowded Midfield. If you were to ask me, I would like Rafa Benitez to go with the following eleven players to start today's game:

Turnbull, Azpilicueta, Ivanovic, Cahill, Cole, Luiz, Ramires, Hazard, Mata, Moses, Torres.

My Lampard's Omission is not borne outta the heated Up arguements on here but Ideally a tactical decision.
Ramires Would need to do enough Covering for 'Experimenting Luiz' and tracking down Tarabat's Runs - Frank at his age wouldn't do all that.

Ya Views cool
I will pick the exact same team as you did and for the same reason you've provided.
The only dude I am worried about is Turnbull.

Save story. Lamps is marathon man. He never needed a rest in his Chelsea career so no need to start now just cos his passport says 1978! Leave that story for Wheelchair and Diaby who pick up knocks and strains!!!
He never needed a rest because he's never been 34.

dayokanu: E be like say the new year holds better things cos at last you don dey talk honestly.

But when a player scores he gets pardoned for other things e.g Not one person would notice anything Walcott did wrong yesterday.

Even players like godlike Messi with his goals would still be at less than 50% conversion which means he missed more than he scoresbut he would be forgiven
I will like to believe that except it only holds true when this forum is not discussing Torres. If I am right, it is the reason Torres watch was started. According to Ibime, Torres may go on and score 25 goals this season however, he started Torres watch to watch the number of games Torres actually does well even if he scores. .
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by nateevs(m): 4:57pm On Dec 30, 2012
dayokanu: Your assessment of the new Torres under Benitez in todays game?
I thought he was average. He didn't lose the ball as frequently as he does many times. He put himself about and was involved in a lot link play. My disappointment with him were

1. His first touch unto a fine David Luiz pass.
2. Hitting the keeper on a clear chance (although he was offside)
3. Allowing Distin to catch up after being through on goal.

That said, I notice these things because I am focusing on every Torres move. If I did for every player, I will see as many crucial mistakes including Lampard who scored both goals.

My honest assessment.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by nateevs(m): 4:48pm On Dec 30, 2012
Very important win considering Everton have not lost at home the season. This could be that game that defined a lot in the course of the season. We are staying in there. Keeping the pressure on the leading teams.

So we are talking with Demba Ba. We probably will agree terms, invoking the #7m release clause after receiving #12m for Sturridge less 15% for City. Good piece of business. One more striker and one or two more bodies in midfield and we could well finish the season very well.

It's starting to resemble a tiny bit of the vision I had when I set up the thread in Feb 2009.
I have been away from Cisco certification for a long time and now I think I am back. Now I am going down the VOIP route starting with CCNA voice.

I have built my lab and it scales up to CCIE. Although I learn CCIE is still on version 7, CCNP though focuses on V8.
I will be sharing the setup of my lab as well as useful scenarios in the course of my study. Anyone interested can join in.

Kudos to the CCIE R&S fellas in the place and all who have continued to post here. Thanks for keeping this thread alive.

However I disagree that Jefferey Bruma is doing well. Also while Nathan Ake is one good defender to watch out for, the closest young defender to a place in the 1st team is Tomas Kalas and then Nathaniel Chalobah.

Although the quality of the opposition is still nothing to make a proper conclusion on, I believe Ibime should now at the very least apologize to me for all the insults for me suggesting David Luiz in midfield.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by nateevs(m): 1:30am On Dec 21, 2012
Ibime: It was a fine result for a depleted team but Benitez's choices highlighted the imbalance in his squad. There is a shortage of strikers and central midfielders and a surfeit of wingers. The lesser-spotted Marko Marin was belatedly granted a first start and offered evidence why he has been kept in cotton wool for four months. It never reflects well on a winger when his full-back is a greater attacking threat, and Cesar Azpilicueta was. Inadvertently, Marin did change the game: his removal, and Hazard's arrival, was a pivotal point.
To be fair to him, I think he is a better attacking threat when he plays on the left. I've never seen him play on the right let alone excel at it. He was anonymous for most parts of the game even though I did expect him to be match rusty.

On point man! There are not many defenders capable of what he can do. I don't know how he sees what he does sometimes. Beauty of a pass.
I just hope he stops losing the ball in dangerous places.
