He cost Madrid less than £15m. It's ridiculous!
We paid £18m for Ramires.

Meireles has had a decent game. The abuse he is getting from the Benfica fans is incredible. Lamps on.

Mikel has been brilliant. WE looked more solid with the 4-2-1-3. I wonder what shape we take now with Lampard on.

I believe RDM prefers Ramires to DS at RW because of Danny's perceived selfish play.

BlueDiva: I had already edited to the post below before you posted.
Anyways, you win, haba make we rest for this thread. cheesy

So what do u want now?
We do a summer clear out and bring in who?

Sometimes i get confused about what it is you really want.
Once and for all, in clear terms explain to us your ideal and your plan for preventing the 'inevitable'.
Apologies if i don't paint out my wishes concisely.
Without sounding like the guy who invented ideas, I believe that the direction the club must is this.

Manager:-

AVB has left. That's the past. The new manager, when appointed, must be given above all the free reign over all signings.
All this signing Torres behind the manager, giving Ramires lengthy contract without knowing the new manager, buying Lukaku, Debruyne in the name of "club buy" has to stop.

The manager must be one who believes in total football and more importantly winning football. (My preference will be someone who believes in the ideas of Rinus Michels and ultimately Johan Cruyff). All this kick and follow, route-one football, Sam Allardyce football cannot sustain a club and I must say again, in my own opinion.

Team/Payers:-

The summer must see us cutting off the likes of average players we have and opt for more technically adept players in all positions. (I must also state that by technical players, I don't necessarily mean short nimble players). Strength and height is essential for the purpose of the PL. However, technical ability must be a pre-requisite. The calibre of the youth players in the last two season has improved tremendously and this must be the case as we must be able to provide players for the first team in expensively. That's the premise of the academy

Finance:-

We need to stop with all the silly wages and ridiculous transfer fees for players. Roman needs to take a back seat and let someone work for once.

There's a lot of stuff I can write but I don't have the energy now. My fingers hurt. That said, nothing I have said here is genius. everyone knows this already. I must also say that this is not meant to be some blue print on how the club "should" work. It's just my opinion and I will like to listen to yours and anyone else's.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Pride Of London by nateevs(m): 1:19pm On Mar 25, 2012
You cannot move them but you can loan them and let another club carry the wage burden.
I bet some top European clubs won't mind paying 100 gees for the likes of Lamps and Drog without worrying about huge transfer fees.
Gosh! Is loaning a player to another club not dependent on the receiving club accepting to pay the wages?
Are we not back to the same thing? However, you will continue to force your agenda because the "buying club don't need to worry about transfer fees" . If Lampard and Drogba are so sought after, why hasn't a "top European club" put in a bid for them in the last 3 seasons?
In case you didn't know Lampard and Drogba considering their age and wages, will not cost more than £10m a piece.

So if wages will not be a problem to these "top European club" as you claim, why haven't they put in a £10m bid?
One more task for you, why don't you go ahead and tell us this "top European team you know that will take on Lampard and Drogba irrespective of their wages? Considering the fact that they are 33 and 34 respectively?

Which European team do you know of has taken a 34 year-old on loan to pay them £150,000 a week? Do you think a top European club are stupid enough, like Chelsea are, to pay a 34 year-old £150,000 a week? Are you making this up as you go along? Another round of bollocks from you.

I bet Mikel, PF, Kalou, Ramires, Cech, Bsingwa, Ivanovic don't earn 150k.
So what? You want to move 13 senior players in one season? Can you name a single team in the world that has done that in history?
Must you post?

Only Mata is worth his salt.
Cahill and Meireles? i laugh.
You won't read would you?

I said Mata is worth his salt. Cahill at £7m is a decent defender. He has offered a lot in comparison to David Luiz at £25m plus £3m a year wages.
I can't help you understand it lady, Cahill is a good buy. We are talking value here. Romeu was bought for £3m. Less than half of what Drogba earns per year.

He's come in and done a decent job when called upon. Plus you can see the potential in there but you judge him. He's phucking 20 years old. To put things in perspective, he's one year older than Josh McEachran and 3 months younger than Gael Kakuta for phuck's sake.

I then accepted that Meireles is a bad buy. However, I explained to you how Meireles happened at Chelsea. If Modric's transfer went through, Meireles will be in Merseyside now. . . but you have to post.

I advice you stop. Your 'superior' knowledge of the game is laughable.
You advice I stop? grin grin grin
Diva, go take care of the kids.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Pride Of London by nateevs(m):
You think managers are just called on the phone and told they've been appointed?
You have to do interviews.
-The club will state it's objectives and goals.
-The manager will decide if he can achieve those objectives.
-The manager will state how he intends to achieve them (this is when he will request for certain players he will need)
-The manager will be given terms, achieve so and so or get sacked.
You posted the above and then posted this.

The only reason RA brought AVB was because he thought he was the new wonder kid in the footie world.
He thought he could re-enact his feat at Porto.
Total contradiction.

You can't tell me RA wouldn't have shelled out a couple more to see his long term dream come to fruition.
Your boy most likely thought he could use what was on ground.
Read my long post and get informed.

Now, even most of the few players AVB brought in are duds at best.
Silly assertions as ever. AVB bought Mata, Romeu, Cahill and Meireles.
We have discussed this in detail here but fans like you are never coherent with off the field issues.
Meireles was a late arrival at 11pm after the Modric deal fell through. Chelsea offered £40m at 9pm confirmed by Harry Redknapp.

Now AVB bought 4 players. Cahill fits in right away and Mata has perhaps started every game. Romeu is 20. I take it you are not calling a 20 year-old a dud. So, we can fairly say that out of 4 players AVB bought, only one is a confirmed dud. Now bear in mind that this "confirmed dud" is a replacement player or a £40m top class player we could not get. You can only then say that regarding transfers, AVB has a 75% success rate. How then can you come to the conclusion that "even most of the few players AVB brought in are duds at best"? Your problem is that your dislike for AVB absolutely distorts you logical reasoning. You say this and say that and remain totally incoherent with your points as long as you can maintain this view below. . .

As for what he did at Porto, my verdict is that it was a fluke.
A manager who is technically ignorant could only have achieved that by a stroke of luck. grin
Even if we buy the whole Barca squad, i'm not conveinced Mr. Villa Boaz has the experience to bring out the best in them.
However, he got the best of the Porto players but it was a fluke.

What killed AVB was his inexperience. You don't give a team like Chelsea to a rookie like AVB.
But you can give the team to RDM because his experience just edges AVB's right?

How I continue to argue with you surprises even me.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Pride Of London by nateevs(m):
AVB was neither producing beautiful football nor giving us results.
It doesn't make sense that you would bring in a manager for millions and not give him the tools.
This just sums up your knowledge about everything. . . and this is why you say the rubbish you say.

When a player is under contract, there are 3 important factors involved in the transfer of a player.
1. The player
2. The selling club
3. The buying club.

Because a player is under contract, as long as he shows up for work, a club has to pay him the agreed wages and bonuses.
For senior players, this is a lot of money. Now unless the the buying club is willing to match the wages of a player, he goes nowhere.
One other way this can happen is if for the reason of playing constantly, the player accepts a wage cut with the buying club.

Only after this can a transfer happen. (Along with a ton of other agreements - Endorsements being a massive one)

Now at £150,000 a week, a player earns £7.8m a year. This is the salary Lampard and Terry are on.
£6.3m a year is about the salary that Drogba, Cole, Essien are on. Anelka (was on).

This is about over £40m a year that only 6 fellas earn. Add Malouda to this list and you have about £45m a year on the salary of just 7 players. I will use this figure in a while.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now the question is not that can Drogba or can Drogba not do a job, it is that how much value are you getting from a £150,000 a week wage. This is the question the buying club will ask. Chelsea may be paying him because of the work he's done, the purchasing club is not having any of that. Drogba's current production value is probably not more that £80,000 a week. This will be about £50,000 a week knock in wages if Drogba decides to move for less wage. So Drogba stays are earns his money he is contracted to earn for the duration left on his contract. This is why you cannot move him. This is why you cannot move all the players that should have been moved for AVB to perform.

Now considering that these players are on an average of 2 years left on their contracts, it is an estimate of upwards of £90m to buy them out if the club so desperately wants these players out. That's half the total annual revenue. It's not going to happen.

One other option you have is to pack the squad full of players - new and old - bench the oldies and use the new players. You cannot do that however because of the constraint of squad registration and player quota. (Reference squad registration rules on the FA website) There's only so many foreign players you can register for the PL and the CL. The squad must include a pre-determined number of home grown players and association trained players.

So, you have a case of players cannot be sold and players cannot be bought out and only so many can be added. Therefore players stay and what you then do is to tell the manager that he has to find a balance between the technically average players and the new ones. This is why AVB "may" have been told that he can only have so many players. Allow the old players to wind down their contracts, get us in a competitive position and we take it from there. This is the reason why AVB will come to the press box and announce that he is happy with the squad; because it is more difficult to move players on £150,000 a week contracts than it was to move the like of Babayaro, JFH, Desailly who were on £30,000, £40,000 a week contracts when JM came in.

That's why JM could move many players and AVB could not. This is a more logical and in-depth analysis into the scenes behind than your silly assumptions that are taken out of sheer uninformed guts and tabloids.

ritchboy: But i remember Nateevs saying stuff along the lines of "you think Roman will fire Carlo for X million pounds, hire AVB from Porto for Y million Euros, and not give him the tools(players) he needs/requests to be successful?". Now he's saying this:

grin grin grin
Ritchboy I did say that. However, I said it in context of people suggesting that if he didn't win the league he would be fired.
I then went on to say the only reason he will be fired is if there is an indication that he won't finish top 4. . . That will get even Jose fired.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Pride Of London by nateevs(m): 12:07am On Mar 25, 2012
Your post sums up the inability to different the cause of the problem and the problem.
In case you didn't know, I was discussing the problem. Not the cause of it.

You cannot call my views lopsided because of your inability to differentiate what I mean and you think I meant.
Identifying that Roman caused the problem is not genius. It's clear for all to see.

The problem however, has been created. I am discussing how to expunge it in relation to hiring managers.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Your argument about Roman wanting results first and style second is silly at best.
Chelsea relies heavily on the £40m plus revenue from the CL and anything that threatens it will have to be removed.
This is the reason AVB was fired. The club could not be guaranteed that Chelsea will finish in the region that secures this money for Chelsea.
Any manager will be fired for this reason.

This however is not sufficient for "result before style" argument. IF AVB guaranteed a top four finish, he would have been kept on. Now would you call a top four finish result for RA? No! That immediately throws your result before style argument out. That said, I am not sure anyone has ever advocated style in absence of results.

If Roman wanted result before style, please come and tell us why Jose Muorinho was fired.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

I get tired of people saying why didn't AVB sell everyone? Very stupid assertion.
For starters, how do you know he didn't ask? Can you prove this?
What if he did ask and he was told NO! it won't happen?
Did you expect him to come to the press and say they won't allow me?
This is why it is very lazy to argue like that.

Also, Lampard, Drogba, Essien, Terry, Malouda, Anelka and Ashley Cole are all on over 100,000 a week.
These players were under contract. How do you move players who are on this amount of money when no one is willing to pay their wages?
Do you even know how players wages affect transfers? This is why the players could not be moved.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

You see a loss to Citeh and their manic expenditure and a draw with Spurs spearheaded by a player paid by Citeh as confirmation of your theory - it isn't.
Hilarious! I have maintained my point of view since 2007. You think a few results are enough to sway my belief?
Please! I am not one of those fans who don't see more than a season.
I am also not like you who give opinions about Chelsea because they read a few things in The Sun.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Pride Of London by nateevs(m): 10:42pm On Mar 24, 2012
First of all RDM has my support. Let's get that out of the way.

Now to your posts.

Sir, what really is the problem here?
You seem to gloat at our little hitches.
You call them hitches. I call them fundamental issues that have needed correction ever since JM became manager.
Spending over £700m on a bunch of one-way players. Players who cannot adapt. Players who cannot change styles.
Not just that, we pay these one-dimensional players over 60% of the £220 turnover we make yearly.
That's the problem. . and to fail to correct that will lead to destruction.

That's the problem that haunts continental managers who attempt to change the legacy that was left by JM.

It's not a problem of hitches. It's a fundamental technical problem.
The problem with accumulating averagely technical players is because of age.
When players age, they rely less on power and pace. They use their inherent technical ability to find space, stay relevant and make things happen.
They switch roles, the pick up withdrawn positions but they stay effective.

Our players revolt at the mention of change. Get a manager fired and pick themselves up when the bells of 'old style' are rung.

You cannot sustain a football club with these fundamental problems. For a moment, I truly believed that Roman understood that.
The caliber of young players in the academy is the most talented I have seen. The most technical ever. You need to see them execute the AVB system.
Among their peers in the country, they stand out.

If you believe the rumours, Roman is already courting Guardiola offering £10m "after tax" . . There has been talks with Marcelo Bielsa.
These Managers live and die by a personal philosophy of playing the game. (AVB belongs to that category of managers. Abeit young, time will reveal this).

This should indicate that Roman has not employed a manager to "maintain the status quo and do what works". .
If Roman wants that, he'll get Martin O Neil or David Moyes easily. Hence why AVB has a different job description than RDM's.

Now AVB comes in and the results have not gone according to expectation. The rational thing to do is try to understand the underlying reasons behind the failure. This is crucial because without proper diagnosis of the root cause, the problem will be repeated.

AVB's mandate was to overhaul the playing style. That's the only reason you pay £13m to hire a manager. It would have cost nothing to employ Martin O Neil. It's the same reason Rooman is courting Guardiola, Bielsa.

It was always going to be a difficult job as the players cannot adapt. £700m worth of spending that cannot adapt. It's a travesty. AVB has to completely shelf the playing staff for his ideas to have worked. This is "the inevitable"

Now we have a case of an owner who knows what he wants from his team. The hurdle, is the players we have. Roman will never achieve his dream of a team playing total football with the players we have. Roman will continue to employ continental managers and unless the whole playing staff is uprooted and totally changed, it won't happen and what happened to AVB will recur.

This is the root problem and this is why AVB should never ever have been fired.

If you cannot understand this, then I cannot help but stick to my initial conclusion about you, you don't see beyond a few results.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Pride Of London by nateevs(m): 5:27pm On Mar 24, 2012
BlueDiva: If AVB was still around it would have been 6 straight loses.
I still prefer we qualified for the Quarter final.

4 wins 1 loss and 1 draw is better than 6 losses if the rookie was still around.
Preposterous at best. . . .
I await the day you see beyond a few wins or losses.

We won't win the CL and we may not qualify for the next even after removing the supposed problem.
What's the point? 4 wins and 1 draw. . . What's the point?
