@Kobojunkie. . .
I really cannot believe this. . . . In your words, "LONDON GHETTOS are 100 times better than POSH PLACES in Lagos". Those were your words, I didn't make them up. Now you found out you goofed and you are gently changing the subject of your opinion. Lady, you've been found out.
Is Ajegunle a posh place in Lagos? Did BBC's Welcome to Lagos portray Lagos's posh places? So where from the sudden change.
I will help you. Just say OK. . .I meant to say as bad as the ghettos are in London, they are still 100 times better than the ghettos in Lagos. Everyone will clap for you. . . Genius observation!
But to stand on what you said previously is ridiculous. I take it as you have never been to/don't know Ghettos in London, posh place in Lagos or you don't know what posh/ghetto means whichever applies. |

Kobojunkie: Sorry, I have been to the ghettos of London, had lunch and dinner in one of them only two weeks ago, and I can tell you that the area is much better than what we term ghetto in places like NY, Birmingham, Miami, Atlanta, Columbus, Dover, Chicago. Try again!!!
So, please stick to making whatever point you are probably trying to make rather than attack my person since you have little clue who I am or where I have been. This is not an attack on your person. London ghettos may not be worse than ghettos in NY, Brimingham, et al. but to say they are "100 times" better than posh places in Lagos is the single most outlandish load of tosh I have ever read on this forum. If you truly have been to ghettos in London, you won't utter that - all in the name of defending BBC's pointless campaign. I was in a block of council flats in Peckham a few weeks ago. There was urine along the stairways from ground floor, all the way to the top floor. Bits of weeds, cigarettes and broken bottles littered the floor inside the block of flats and there are people living there with their kids. I gazed in disbelief. I swore never to go there again. And that's Peckham. Take a trip to council flats undergoing demolition in Kidbrooke, go to Hackney, Bethnal green, Elephant and Castle, I can go on. And you tell me these places are "100 times better than posh places in Lagos" ? I say it again - You have not been to ghettos in London, or you have not been to posh places in Nigeria, or you don't know the meaning of posh/ghetto. . . whichever applies. |

skyranger: Fifa host nations, politics defines nations, u can't separate a nation frm its govt all in the name of futball, its just cheap talk, fifa is covering its own backside frm been asked to be accountable. wonder hw fifa has gotten away with this for this long.
it doesn't make common sense to me that a private organization accountable to no body would organize international competition where footballers wear national colours to compete and you ask Govt not to interfere!?
Folks, football between nations is like modern day warfare, Govt has every right to organize and sensitize its football house. during bidding and planning to host, govt is expected to be very much involved, they spend huge money and Fifa exco sits with presidents when competitions are on going, so why the double talk, or do you think the private sector can foot the bill for hosting the world, its not about profit making, its the pride of a nation, its about the culture and hospitality of a nation, what did Fifa say to french govt when they sanctioned some of its players for improper conduct during 2010.
If u ask me, Fifa should concentrate on int'l club contest, competition b/w nations should be handle by a sport dept in UN.
footbal houses are the most corrupt of all organizations, who are these pea heads accountable to? we all saw what they did to Ireland when they almost took France out in the qualifying series. Issa Hayatou holds on to CAF like its his fathers barn.
the German govt recently honoured the German representative in fifa 2010 why didn't the football house give them honours, footbal is all about a nation, it brings a whole nation together and pitch its pride, dignity and valour against another nation when they meet, even at friendlies.
how long has Sepp Blatter been on the seat of power as fifa president? someone please should call FIFA to order. Best post by a mile. |

Kobojunkie: I don't live in a million pound town house anywhere. I watch BBC2 and I know that by Nigerian Law, BRIBERY is a CRIME.
The Ghettos of London remain 100 times better than many of the posh areas in Lagos. I am not certain how making a movie of "London ghettos" which are mostly filled with people who continue to make bad life choices thinking the system owes them, will work against this video or the BBC. I certainly hope we are not here intending to compare the condition of life for many of those in London ghettos(many of whom can easily move out but continue to think the system owes them) to the condition of living for HARDWORKING and DECENT Nigerians who find they cannot make enough to get out of those gutters/ghettos in Nigeria. That, in my opinion, will be a great injustice by all stretch. The truth is being told here . . instead of continuing to turn defensive each time, why not fix the country? I take it that you probably do not know or have never been to the ghettos of London, the posh areas in Lagos or you don't know the meaning of posh/ghetto. . Just say you goofed on this. |

Now where's TKB? We tackled this problem only a few months ago. You and a few guys were trying to prove to me why it is wrong for GEJ to act the way he did. I told you we had so much corruption in the system. Now NFF officials disobey court orders still under the umbrella of "una no fit catch us" . . .
As long as we continue to let these non-footballing dudes run football, nothing will happen. Let's put ex-pros in charge of football. People like Oliseh, Okocha and Kanu are filthy rich. . . They've made millions and their first instinct is not to enrich themselves. Although while being an ex-pro does not translate into profound football management skills, they can't be worse than the cretins we have in there now.
These guys have exposure having played in numerous countries and under different league systems, they have foreign links and can borrow/learn a thing or two.
The ban was going to happen, it was just a matter of time. As long as government funds football, there will be interference. |

@HNIC & Ritchie, I know exactly what I am saying. When I wrote what I wrote, I did with intent. I know at least 5 people who started supporting Arsenal last year. At least another 2 who started 2 years ago. Did you start supporting Arsenal in heaven? Was there not a year you started? Some day, some week? dudes, cut the crap. I am not buying that "I started watching Arsenal when my Dad met my Mum gist" . . . . . Someone somewhere fell in love with Arsenal after the Braga CL game. . . So what are you guys trying to prove? That every Arsenal fan has been a supporter since there was light? First class BS. SOME Arsenal fans have not witnessed an Arsenal draw over Chelsea let alone a win. . . . I said it, I meant it and I stand by it. . . . If e pain you, jump off. . . . |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only by nateevs(m): 11:25pm On Oct 04, 2010 |
While you may have a point, you are over stating your case. The players missing for Arsenal can be deemed ‘spinal’ - Almunia, Vermaelen, Cesc and RVP.
The equivalents for Chelski would be Cech, Terry, Lampard and DD.
Given you had three out of those four available yesterday, you can’t realistically describe the team you fielded as managing with ‘fringe’ players.
Furthermore, it is clear that WITHOUT that spine it is unlikely Chelski would’ve won.
If we take the analysis a step lower, you were missing Bosingwa, Kalou and Benayoun as well. . . .those ‘could’ be equivalent to missing, Gibbs, Bendtner and Ramsey for Arsenal, so then again, in terms of personnel, Arsenal were missing a far greater compliment of their squad compared to Chelski.
The truth is that you need to be able to perform even with your ‘fringe’ players, but the ‘greater’ truth as it were is that Arsenal are without their CORE first team players too often during the course of a season. . Though 3 pages late, I had to respond to this. It is very dangerous to use the ambiguous word "equivalent" here and this could send out wrong status of things. . . While in your mind, you are referring to players the exact positions in both clubs, the whole argument could be mistaken for something new. While Cesc could match Lamps in ability, RVP is no Drogba, Vermaleen is no JT and Almunia is no Cech. Now don't get me wrong as I do understand where you are coming from but my phrasing of the argument was deliberate and I took a swipe at the quality of your squad than anything else. Applying the same argument to the "fringe division", Gibbs is no Bosingwa, Bendtner is no Kalou and Ramsey is no Benayoun. You do see where I am coming. So when you say you are missing the core of your team, it matters less to me as you will see the same when Stoke say you beat them because they were missing Sorensen, Shawcross, Etherington and Fuller. The first thing that comes to your mind is "igbayen nko"? |

And this, HNIC: @ nateevs November 30,2008 Less than 2 years ago. Robin Van Persie Violated Stamford bridge Or was that not an Arsenal win?or na draw? Is the dumbest thing alive. . . . I said "SOME" Arsenal fans have not witnessed an Arsenal win over Chelsea. .emphasizing how long it's been since y'all had a win. Afterall, some people started supporting Arsenal only 2 years ago. . . . . If however your defence is to go back 2 years in history. . . then you only just prove my point. While yours is a surprise, it's well understood how ritchie jumps on the bandwagon. . .dude's not new to bull_shit |

RuuDie: Arsenal did almost everything right up the Chelsea end of the pitch early on in the game --- they pressed, harried and marked. It was very clearly a marked improvement from previous Chelsea - Arsenal games I've seen. . . . . AW just needs to change his approach atimes. I was thinking a midfield 3 of Song/Nasir/and 1 of Diaby, Denilson or Eboue (I would have gone for the strength of Eboue) - Song & Eboue just sitting in front of that back-4, there was hardly any support when Song ventured upfield. They had enough quality to hurt chelsea on the counter. Wilshere had a good game but had no business in there, it was a way too physical game for him. & then again, the perennial Arsenal problem, finishing was just not there!
Anyways, there was some positives & I still think with a full complement of their squad, Arsenal can still hurt Chelsea this season in the return leg! It is always so easy to say when Arsenal have a full squad, they will hurt Chelsea. How much better do you think could have been with Lampard, Kalou, Benayoun and Bosingwa. Over the course of the season, It's never about wat a team can do with their full squad, but what they can manage with their fringe players. . Arsenal will lose to Chelsea at the emirates - mark my words. |

cabali: On the game with Arsenal I'd say we were just lucky that arsenal will never change their style. I say they played well but just have one and only one way of scoring; walk into the face of the post and slot in.
This just doesnt work with chelsea and the kinda defence we put up. The day they start shooting from out the 18; thats when the entire EPL will have to be afraid, otherwise, they wont beat us; even in the Emirate.
My player of the day was Mikel. i am not a fan of his but today that lad made me believe in him. Not a single wrong move or pass from him, Great work. Fabianski was incredible. He stopped the ones he could. Drogba's goal was unstoppable. so was Alex's.
We needed the 3 points especially when Man U drew and Man city is hard at our backs!!
Good to be BLUE once again. Dude, that was not luck. I am yet to see a game of Arsenal's where they didn't dominate. That's just the way they play. They assemble a group of fine passers of the ball and forget about everything else. If they start shooting from outside the goal, they will also learn how to defend in a compact way. Terry, Alex and Ivanovic were willing to die in front of goal blocking every move like their lives depended on it. If Anelka and Essien converted their chances when they were through on goal, it woulda been murder. Let's watch the games against Wigan and Stoke and see how we pass them to death, but we can mix up when we have to. That's the difference. Until the day Arsenal learn that you have to mix-up play sometimes, they probably will never score a goal against us, let alone win. I said earlier that some Arsenal fans have not witnessed an Arsenal win over Chelsea. |
