A computer scientist actually. I am on my way for a seminar, will solve the second one when I get back. The questions require creativity. One needs to always reconfigure them and see how the shapes can be redrawn or manipulated. I guess this is what is being tested over there and it is good for children to have that kind of skill at that age. I am not really a fan of geometry and mensuration but your questions are making me think. Thanks.

I just solved the circular one. I got 1008m². I embedded a square in between the shapes and took it out from the big circle along with 4 resultant semi- circles. See solution below. Sorry about the poor image.

Although, I do not know what your style is and the kind of statement you want to make when you get close to people but those two up there are subtle, soft and just cool.
