PoliticsRe: Ogoniland Clean-up To Commence Soon – FG by NavierStokes(m):
Before some people start the jubilation the should ask these questions
1) how much is the cleanup exercise supposed to cost shell and fg
2) how much is the fg's share of this total cost
3) how much is the total budget of the ministry of environment.
4) how much is the ministry allocating to the ogoni cleanup exercise.

The answers to these questions will enable one visualize the viability or non viability of this exercise.

@ OP, you can as well do the research work and you might be given an appointment.
Currently scouting for the figures, if the thread stays alive I believe we will have a better understanding of how the figures for lost crude is generated, and maybe some less technical readers will better understand and debunk some biases they had against the past administration or will have for the current administration.

Could you please stay within the scope of the topic, because its something that affects our projected revenue, as well as gives better insight into the workings of the past administration.
PoliticsCurrent Volume Of Crude Lost Per Day, In This Administration? by NavierStokes(op): 8:18am On Jan 07, 2016
Dear all, considering how the past adminsitration was accused of allowing crude theft to the tune of 400000 bbls per day, does anyone have credible information about the current volume of crude lost per day, since this new administration came on board? Because I am sensing that the government is withholding that information from the populace unlike the previous administration that was transparent to the point of letting the citizens know where the country had lapses.

In summary if anyone has the figures, then let's hear it and critique the technicalities.

So the EFCC is now waiting for her chairman (Buhari) to give orders before they know what to do. Just like the last administration promised that the refineries would work in 2011, then in 2012 , 2014 and 2015 before the 2016 date.

I am dead sure if GEJ had remained, the refineries would not have worked at all. In fact, we might have been looking for a buyer for the country.
Please don't be so full of hate as regards the past administration. Some months ago we saw how the current government's body language made an attempt at cranking the refineries to life, the outcome we all witnessed. That administration so villified, laid the foundation on which this administration is building on, as evident, sector after sector, roads, refineries, railways, power, agriculture what have you.

Your bosses (Fashola, Amaechi) have testified, what are you waiting for?

PoliticsRe: Nigeria Will Continue To Import Petrol Beyond 2016 – Kachikwu by NavierStokes(m): 10:54pm On Dec 27, 2015
SignalNG1:
Nigeria’s Minister of State for Petroleum, Ibe Kachikwu, on Sunday, said Nigeria will continue to import fuel beyond 2016.

Speaking at a Press chat with journalists shortly after a tour of the Kaduna Refining and Petrochemicals Company, the Minister said “the future is that, Nigeria is still going to import fuel in 2016 and beyond.

“Until we begin to get individuals who can co-relocate, we are going to be doing a mixture of local and importation of fuel to meet up demands.

“Best case situation is 25% local and 75% importation. Worse case is what we are experiencing now.

“In the next few weeks, however, queues will disappear in fuel stations,” he stated.

The Minister said Kaduna Refinery will soon attain 2 million litres per day capacity as soon as an FCC unit is fully on stream.

“We need to get it back to re-kit it to work well. We will do that with some level of production going on,” said Mr. Kachikwu.

“Our concern is to have a consistent production and provision of products at all times.”

On subsidy and pricing, Mr. Kachikwu said “we will not be fluctuating prices, we will take an average. Today no subsidy, in January we will look at the situation and announce it.”

On privatization, he said “President Muhammadu Buhari has not approved any policy about selling the refineries.”

You got it twisted bro.it's the fault of the CBN gov it would be worthy of note that the Airlines are more than happy to bank their mo eye in Nigeria but what happens if they want to withdraw it in their country try?do Nigeria have the dollar equivalent as back up to remit it's equivalent abroad ?this is the problem. How do they pay taxes in their host countries?we are now spreading our problem to involve them and all they did was to involve in Biz.Someone here predicted that this will drive away investors see.if the likes of Air France. Lift hand a and km plus Delta vacate Nigeria the air fare will skyrocket. What we need is to devalue the Naira not these artificial and non sustainable approach the CBN gov is employing
And to see you got 7 likes n shares on your post shows how backward and ill informed our youths are.
Some people talk about our local airlines filling the gap, forgetting that these are Investments that takes time, imagine airlines having to make orders for planes years in advance (except we need them ordering most of those "3rd hand" flying caskets). I raised this issue of the airlines in a discussion with a friend, just last week's sunday and here we are today. All those ignorantly thinking all these news have nothing to do with them, will soon find out just how badly it affects them, when ticket prices get ridiculously expensive and planes flying out with half empty seats plus the available tickets can only be bought or paid for from abroad or you fly private One way or the other CBN's policies are serving one major putpose, i.e deeply isolating Nigeria economically from the rest of the world.

In all honesty bruv, we don't contribute nada, with our 30 billion dollar annual budget (which is even a first), to say, make a comparison to the state of New York with a budget of 78.5billion dollars for the same period and you will understand that most times we Nigerians are filled with a sense of our own importance.

I weep for the so called Nigerian youths!
So it has come to the extent that they cannot understand simple information?

Airlines are doing businesses in Nigeria, footing all their bills but cannot take home their profits thus they may reduce the presence due to the dollar restrictions - if you are in their shoes what will you do?

If the western world made it a low that you cannot leave America or Britain with what you have earned in their nation how will Nigerians see it?

From your understanding is this policy not a negative one for Nigerians and our economy?

Can someone suggest to foreigners how best to take their hard earned money home!
Bro pls ignore them, imagine the mentality of the average Nigerian, some people need to travel and see that the world extends beyond their village.

Even if you have $200bn in external reserves sooner or later it will all be gulped by the import based economy.

The only major earner of forex is the FG which they get mainly from oil.

The only solution is to have the populace controlling and dominating forex flows rather than the govt.

Some illiterates don't know that a huge chunk of our external reserves where eroded not by stealing but by selling to the domestic market.

Jump start our export base and liberalise forex rules and see more Nigerians earn and save in dollars locally.
Don't mind them.
