Nor mind them. This thread was meant to bring their attention to an issue and they only ended up confirming all the allegations.
Well said. They cannot eat their cake and have it. I knew the enormity of the problem when 3 Yoruba dudes chose to walk out of a pan Nigerian meeting rather than stop using Yoruba language in extra-Yoruba meetings

Former Anambra State governor, Dr. Chukwuemeka Ezeife, has posited that the only way to achieve true federation is for the respective ethnic groups to create a synergy for national unity.

Ezeife, who disclosed this at the end of year party and award presentation-ceremony of Egbe Omo Oduduwa in Awka Anambra State, pointed out that there is a confirmed socio-cultural relationship between the Igbo and Yoruba in Nigeria, adding that the two ethnic groups should be on the vanguard of national unity and true federation.

He contended that the bane of Nigeria’s democracy and corporate existence is the so much concentration of power at the centre, and sued for a weak centre and strong federating units.

“I believe that the first call is for the Igbo and Yoruba to start constructive engagement and end the parallel line relationship.

“Parallel lines do not meet. These parallel lines must bend towards each other or the rot and disintegration cannot be halted and reversed. The second call is for the building up of the critical minimum force to propel political arrangements in the directions that make things work. The logical end of the call is for the immediate constitution of a Peoples’ (Constituent) Assembly, where Nigerians will work to give onto themselves the constitutional arrangements that will make things work in Nigeria.

“This should be done in the proven knowledge that the present arrangement is chocking off growth and development possibilities and seems to be moving our beloved country inexorably to ruin!”

At the occasion, former Anambra State governor, Dr Chris Nwabueze Ngige, was honoured as a pacesetter and detribalised Nigerian whose tenure as governor ensured the safety of the people irrespective of tribe or religion.

According to leader of Yoruba community in Anambra State, Mr. Tunde Adegbenjo, Ngige is the only governor past and present that has been of immense assistance to the Yoruba community.

He recalled that in the 2005 pilgrimage, Ngige while in office gave the Yoruba community in Anambra slots to attend pilgrimage.

The Yoruba leader recalled that during the religious and ethnic clashes in the country, Ngige ensured the safety of non-indigenes and provided relief materials for their up keep.

Also honoured was Oyo State Governor, Dr Adebayo Alao-Akala, as the patron, while Dame Virgy Etiaba was made Matron of Yoruba community in Anambra State.

Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuade and Obi Gibson Nwosu of Awka kingdom were made royal fathers of the day.

In his goodwill message to his brothers in Anambra state, Oyo state governor, Alao-Akala, expressed happiness with the award given to him and urged the Yoruba in Anambra State to remain good ambassadors of their state.

Akala further reiterated the Oyo State government’s continued protection of lives and properties of non-indigenes and also creating an enabling environment for brotherliness and exchange of trade and commerce among all ethnic groups in Nigeria.

Also, president of Egbe Omo Oduduwa in the state noted that the importance of the celebration was to recognize personalities that have contributed to the cultural and ethnic integration among the Yoruba and the Igbo of Anambra extraction.

He also thanked the Group Managing Director of Capital Oils Limited, Mr. Ifeanyi Ubah, for his assistance to the Yoruba community and display of brotherhood by averting what would have led to a bloody ethnic clash between the Yoruba and the Igbo in Nnewi commercial town.

Many (upright) that I can't remember. For a start Ekwueme, Matthew Mbu, current Ebonyi state gov, Akunyili, Yaradua (upright but clueless), former senate president Nnamani, current gov of Niger state, and many more all over Nigeria.

Harry Akande has moved from AD to ANPP and now AC. He is the worst of the failed politicians. He has no constituency and cannot even win in his village. He is a big, big political liability

Akande and Adams are both washed-out rogues. I am just giving Fasola a break for now. Not sure he is as decent as they make him. Time will tell, as we are already hearing stories about contracts award, especially the new Helicopters.

Akande was the former Osun gov I mentioned earlier. He is as crooked as Atiku. Oshiomhole is also a crook. How did he fund his election? Is he not hobnobbing with Igbinedion? Give me a break

You still have fairly decent people in PDP compared to AC. Apart from Fasola who is by Nigerian standard fairly decent, name any other in AC

They are all crooks but I surmise that AC politicians are more crooked and very flirtatious. They are also hypocritical.
PoliticsRe: Anambra 2010: Igbo Supreme Leader Promises Obi Will Return. by Nchara: 12:43am On Dec 19, 2009
Mr Crackles,

AC is a party of crooks and failed politicians- Atiku, Tinubu, former Osun State governor, among others who keep moving from one party to another like prostitu-tes. The lastest is that they want to form a mega party with ANPP, another dead party. AC holds no promise for Ndigbo. Why jump into the river and drown when you can stay afloat with a lifebouy?

Igbos are wiser now. They will pitch their tent with PDP which offers a veritable platform for 2015. Ngige is not as popular as they make him out. I think even Obi will beat him hands down.

Anambra 2010: Soludo's supporters in jubilation as candidates appease local power brokers
From Chuks Collins, Awka

WITH only about 50 days to the February 6, 2010 Anambra State governorship polls, not much can be said of preparation by political parties and their candidates for the election. Out of 25 parties initially identified by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as sponsoring candidates for the election only seven have some recognisable addresses. Besides the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the Labour Party (LP), The Action Congress (AC), The All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), The Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA), the African Democratic Congress (ADC), and of late the Hope Democratic Party (HDP), none of the rest is noticed or could be traced to any public office in any part of the state. Some politicians refer to them as parties and candidates in Diaspora

advertisement

In the same pattern, only the candidates of the seven parties have been organising public functions and programs round the state to sensitise the electorates on the forthcoming election. They include Prof Chukwuma Soludo - (PDP); Andy Uba (LP); Dr Chris Ngige (AC); Iyom Uche Ekwunife (PPA); Mr. Peter Obi (APGA); Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu (HDP) and Chief Ralphs Okey-Nwosu (ADC).

The seeming "campaign apathy" is being linked to "greed and grab mentality" of public office seekers in Anambra State. Features of previous campaign rallies such as distribution of food items to the electorate like rice, salt, sugar, vegetable oil and other souvenirs, in addition to grandiose promises that would however not be met, are consciously missing. The elective office seekers now limit sharing of any such largesse to few stakeholders, community leaders and chieftains. It is believed that having appeased these few perceived 'local gods' and perhaps some other institutions that have both direct and indirect bearings on their election success, there's no more need to 'waste' money, time or energy going to see or speak to those ordinary citizens/electorates.

However, going by the assurances of the chairman of INEC, Prof Maurice Iwu and his erstwhile Anambra State Resident Commissioner Chief Rowland Uwah, it would not be business-as-usual on Feb 6, 2010 in Anambra State. The duo had severally insisted that the commission has repositioned and corrected itself for better performance and services even though most citizens are viewing the reassurances with undisguised skepticism.

The immediate past Deputy National Chairman of the PPA, and now a chieftain of PDP in the state, Dr Austin Ndigwe did not feel comfortable with the alleged conflicting statements from Iwu. At a recent function, Iwu was said to tag the emergence of Prof Chukwuma Soludo of the PDP as "undemocratic" while keeping mute on the surprise transformation of Andy Uba, Nicholas Ukachukwu and Iyom Uche Ekwunife as candidates of Labour Party, PPA and Hope Democratic Party. The three have been top-rated members of the PDP.

According to Ndigwe, it will be difficult for the ordinary people of Anambra State to put confidence in Iwu as capable of leaving up to his part as an unbiased umpire. He indeed believes Iwu has shown biased in the Anambra governorship project, specifically against Soludo and in favour of Andy Uba. He also insists that it is an open secret that Iwu and Andy Uba shared personal favour but was quick to warn that Nigerians and the world, particularly Anambra electorates are watching and waiting.

He wonders "how individuals who had no party membership cards, never bought any nomination/expression of interest forms pass through any form of nomination or primary election formalities instantly transform overnight over and above certified members of those parties to become their governorship candidates in faraway Abuja and Prof Iwu and his men found it very acceptable. But at the same time Iwu wants to strangulate and destroy the enthusiasm, which the emergence of Soludo has generated in the PDP."

Ndigwe who recently returned to PDP with funfair challenged Iwu and INEC to host a free and fair election in Anambra State claiming that the PDP/Soludo machinery would "record a landslide victory." He said, "the political transformation is not new in Anambra state, and the records are there. The former PDP governor Dr. Chinwoke Mbadinuju in 2003 decamped to Alliance for Democracy when he was denied a re-election ticket. He along with members who decamped with him, even with the so-called power of incumbency was beaten squarely by the PDP. They were so floored that they lost voices, faces and political foothold in the sate till date." Ndigwe claimed that Uba even before making any public appearance as LP candidate has already started discussing openly his return to PDP.

In contrast to the bitter demonstration and protests on the streets of Onitsha, Nnewi, Ekwulobia and Awka, last Wednesday following the restraining order of the Court of Appeal on Soludo, there were wild jubilation in various parts of the state when the news came of the Supreme Court verdict clearing the path for Soludo yesterday. At every street corner, business areas, shops, beer parlours, people were dancing and cheering over the verdict. They discussed it with joy. Some were grateful that it is now better for all the political heavy weights to go into the community to solicit votes, sell and market themselves and programmes to the people.

Soludo's running mate, Senator Emmanuel Anosike who has been piloting affairs was in a cheerful mood. He described the verdict as cheering, heart-warming and reassuring. According to him, the Supreme Court has again demonstrated that it is the bastion hope for all. Chief Okey Muo-Aroh, chairman of Soludo Campaign Organization said the initial restraining order was strange because he did not see the loss, which the litigants could have suffered in the circumstance with Soludo being cleared to run.

Meanwhile, Ekwunife has urged other candidates to dwell on issues rather than blackmail and propaganda.

While receiving a delegation of the Hausa and Yoruba communities as part of her campaign tours, she blamed leadership failure for the nation's administrative woes. She assured that her regime would make the remarkable and necessary change, and would carry all groups along.

The leader of the team, 71 year-old Alhaji Babale Bawuro, said that the Hausa community decided to support her because, "we have seen and followed you in this state and your antecedents are well known to us.

"Some of us who are Moslems and others who are Christians have been praying for your success in this election, having seen the seriousness in you.

"Before now, the Hausa community had been neglected in the state by successive governments after we helped them to win the election, but we have seen that you are a different kind of politician and that is why we have come to offer ourselves to you."

She said that some people in this state were playing politics with bitterness, by blackmailing others and carrying unnecessary propaganda against each other, adding that politics should be played in an atmosphere of friendship

She told the Hausa community leaders that she did not join the governorship race in Anambra because she had money, but to salvage the people of the state from bondage and assured them that if elected that they would not be left out in the scheme of things and urged them to have faith in her and her party PPA.

She has continued her community tours and campaigns and has so far covered about 100 out of the 177 communities in the state.

No doubt, but it does so in a far less proportion than party politics. PDP is a behemoth and only rough riders such as Orji Kalu can stand it. AC, as well as its candidate Ngige, are neophytes. No chance in Anambra for anything AC, rigging or no rigging. If Ngige had been in PPA (Kalu's party) it would have payed him more.

Kobojunkie,

The whole description of the article and the way he brags about his sex life in public makes him irresponsible. I wonder how many kids he has from all the women. He was so carried away by his self-proclaimed sex prowess that he did not consider to ask himself why the women who left him did so, despite his claims of satisfying them sexually.

AC has no place in Igboland. It is PDP or APGA in Anambra, and PDP holds a stronger promise for Ndigbo, rigging or no rigging.

Well let's see if the Igbos will 'do what I tell them to do' as Ojukwu claims. I frankly detest personality politics - vote for Obi as a favour to Ojukwu, not because the guy is the best candidate.
Useful contribution. As you may know, Igbos are very democratic and republican and I doubt that Anambra people will listen to Ojukwu. They will vote as their minds direct them plus the rigging that will naturally take place. Ojukwu is respected no doubt but politics is a different game especially with somebody of Soludo's calibre involved. I'd go for Soludo then Obi, in that order.

Your logic on Ojukwu sucks. Do you expect him not to support his party candidate? After all, he is not a Yoruba who sings your praise in your face and curses you in your back. Soon you will come here preaching against tribalism, not so?

How is Yorubaland better than Igboland? Don't even mention Lagos here because Lagos wasn't built by Yoruba alone, but by everyone including oil money from ND which includes two Igbo states, as well as the sweat of millions of  Igbos (and other non-Yoruba) who live and pay taxes there. Can you compare any of the Yoruba states (-Lagos) to any of the Igbo states? Do you know of the different poverty levels in the different regions of Nig? Born ignoramus.

How 77-yr-old man satisfies 16 women in bed

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

How 77-yr-old man satisfies 16 women in bed

National News Dec 18, 2009 “They can all testify to the fact that I satisfy them sexually in spite of my age. I don’t use any drug. It is God Almighty that is behind me that created me like that, but sometimes, I used agbo, native herbs.”

Those were the words of Pa Jimoh Iti-Ogede, a 77-year-old man, who shocked the people present in court while giving his testimony in a divorce suit he instituted against Mrs. Sukurat, one of his wives recently before an Igando Grade ‘B’ Customary Court, Lagos.

The man, who claimed that he is married to 16 wives, said that though some of them have deserted him or dead, he was able to perform his duty in bed as a husband to all the women to the extent that some of them hailed and cherished him.

He told the court that all his wives could testify that he is a great performer when it comes to love making.

In his testimony, Jimoh told the court :“If my wife (Sukurat) leaves me today, another one will come in tomorrow as far as she has interest in me. I take good care of women,” he said.

Sharing his experience in marriage, he said: “I have married up to 16 wives. Presently, three of them are living with me; some have packed out to live alone or live in their own houses, while some are dead. I have built houses for the majority of them.

I take good care of the ones that are living with me.”

Insisting on separation from his estranged wife, he told the court to immediately dissolve the union between themhim and the woman, Sukuratu.

“This is because she fights all our neighbours and my tenants frequently. She does not respect me, she goes out at her own free will and comes back whenever she prefers. In fact ,I don’t love her anymore.”

Asked by the president of the court, Mr. J. A. Eko, where he is getting the powers to satisfy the women and if his action is not injurious to his health, he said: “The wives can testify to my claims that I satisfy them well in bed. If you ask me to bring any of them ,I will oblige the court. I don’t feel bad or tired of it” .

Speaking further on the attitude of his estranged wife, the man said, “when she was served with the court summon, she came and gave me a thorough beating but I did not take it low. I invited policemen who arrested her. Like I said, my lord, I cannot sleep with her anymore, I want a divorce. I don’t want her again; she should let me have the custody of my three-year old child and I need my peace.”

In her own response, the woman told the court that the man had denied her sex since November last year. She claimed that contrary to the man’s testimonies, he possess no power to satisfy her in bed again but she said she is still in love with the man if he is ready to reconcile with her.

“My Lord, he does not come to my room anymore. He made love to me last in November last year. I can tell the court that he was not doing it well again like before.”

The matter has been adjourned for further hearing.

Precisely why they are poor in English, on the average. This is the truth. Get into a train/tram/bus in any European city where Nigerians live in number, all you hear is Yoruba Yoruba on the phone. We use to have a Nigerian meeting in Germany where I was the secretary (and later the president). We had to put a ban of 5 Euros on local languages during the meeting because of too much Yoruba language interrupting important discussions grin grin

Three of the Yoruba members resigned because they could not afford not to speak Yoruba in a gathering of other Nigerians. Shame.
