PoliticsRe: Anambra Capital City - After 20years As A Capital by Nchara: 7:07pm On Dec 18, 2009
Can we see photos of Ibadan after 40 years as a capital, first a regional, and then a state capital?

Does anyone remember in the 1979 election that Awo was reported to have been stoned in Aba when he came to campaign there, despite the fact that his then deputy was an Igbo - Philip Umeadi?

Awo wanted to use Umeadi to break Zik's vote in the East, and in his myopia he forgot that it is impossible for southerners to be both pres and vice pres at the same time.

Well, it depends on where the photographer choose to snap.
True talk. Another photo of Awka will come sparkling and very fascinating.

My friend, keep spewing rubbish. ETH is as strong as Harvard. It is just a matter of every thing English being the leader of the world. I missed out an opportunity to work there because I had to travel to Nigeria after my defense. Been to ETH twice. Excellent facilities they got there.
PoliticsRe: Nigerian Named Applied Research Chemist Of The Year by Nchara:
Indeed the gap is marginal and depends on Uni. Where I studied SCL= 90% and above while MCL is 80% to 90%. I got 85% and that is very marginal compared to 90%
PoliticsRe: Nigerian Named Applied Research Chemist Of The Year by Nchara: 7:16am On Dec 18, 2009
You are just catching on straw; even the man for whom the post was created probably did not study in Harvard, yet he has achieved this. Underachievers like you hide under the cloak of so-called big universities while their mates are garnering all the laurels.
PoliticsRe: Nigerian Named Applied Research Chemist Of The Year by Nchara: 7:09am On Dec 18, 2009
The gap between SCL and MCL is very marginal; you should know that. And obtaining any of these grades at the PhD level, especially for a foreigner, is no mean feat.

Talking about your friends again (funny that this time you tried to emphasize Yoruba grin), I have a few friends too with SCL. But  I prefer to pride in myself than in a friend. Sefago who are you and what do you have in terms of qualifications?

The last time you boasted of a Yoruba who obtained a PhD in Particle Physics when Zik was obtaining an MS in politics (and stuff like that) in the 1930; till today, you are still unable to show this person. You don come again abi? grin

What do you know? Do you know the meaning of Magna cumlaude? It is never a second class degree. If you do not know, look it up. I scored 85% in my final exams and public defense. Ode!

Magna cumlaude is a Latin phrase meaning “with great honor.” It is a distinction awarded to students who have displayed remarkable academic distinction. As a general rule, Latin honors are used for undergraduate college degrees only, although they sometimes appear in high schools and at the graduate level. There is no universal standard for Latin honors. That means that a magna cum laude degree can mean different things, depending on the institution which awarded it.

So you really think its the school that matter? If so why would you have different sets of students from the same school, say from U.I.? My friend, U.I, Ife, UniLag, UNN are all 5000th grade, not even among the first 1000 in the world.
PoliticsRe: Nigerian Named Applied Research Chemist Of The Year by Nchara: 6:51am On Dec 18, 2009
I had Nigerians in my class during my MS, I was also on top of the class. No bragging. This is just me. Never went below the top 3, from primary level to PhD level, graduating with a Magna cumlaude. grin
PoliticsRe: Nigerian Named Applied Research Chemist Of The Year by Nchara: 6:46am On Dec 18, 2009
Talking about ''good'' and ''bad'' universities, let me tell you a short story:
In 1999 after my NYSC, I went to interview for a job in Lagos. During the interview I met several other applicants from U.I., Unilag, Ife, etc and I was coming from a supposedly backyard state university in the East. But guess what, while I was scoring 85 and above on all counts, all those other guys were scoring 60. So it is not really the school you attended (although I obtained my MSc and PhD from some of the best universities in Europe) that matter, but yourself. I got the job instantly, worked for 3-4 years and off I zoomed for my MS program abroad on full scholarship. I got my present job even before defending my PhD thesis, and this was in a period millions, including professors, were losing their jobs all over the world.

Do you have a PhD yourself? If not, why pose with your friends, most likely Oyibos? grin You dey drop their names for me? I don't care about your friends ok?
PoliticsRe: Nigerian Named Applied Research Chemist Of The Year by Nchara: 6:33am On Dec 18, 2009
Have I told you where I got mine from? Why talk about your friends, why not yourself?
PoliticsRe: Nigerian Named Applied Research Chemist Of The Year by Nchara: 6:26am On Dec 18, 2009
SEFAGO:
You are both the same.
Suit yourself then.
PoliticsRe: Nigerian Named Applied Research Chemist Of The Year by Nchara: 6:25am On Dec 18, 2009
Your friends are pursuing the PhD degree that I obtained almost a year ago? You should know your superior then. grin
FYI, there are several categories of ACS conferences.
PoliticsRe: Nigerian Named Applied Research Chemist Of The Year by Nchara: 6:12am On Dec 18, 2009
Sefago,

Stop refering to me an Mekusxxx. I will appreciate that. Thanks. I wonder what gave you the impression that I and Mekusxxx are the same person.

By the way, I will be talking in an ACS conference in San Diego next March. I invite you to come listen.
PoliticsRe: Nigerian Named Applied Research Chemist Of The Year by Nchara: 6:11am On Dec 18, 2009
SEFAGO:
You are misrepresenting what you actually won. You forget some of us participate in research ourselves, and understand the term. You won a conference poster award. I have friends at the undergraduate level who have won poster awards themselves from the American Chemical Society so kini big deal?
Wetin you dey yarn? The award was given by an industry interested in my work as presented. Your friends at undergrad level will attend undergrad conferences not conferences where established or near-established scientists discuss research. We are talking about cutting-edge science, you dey call your undergrad friends (many of whom I am currently supervising). Take your time oh! grin

Sagamite how far?

Has your mind already been blown out by my award? This one you dey sneak in and out and refuse to comment on the long-awaited evidence. I have more from whence that came grin
PoliticsRe: Papa (ojukwu) U 2 Sweet by Nchara: 3:37am On Dec 18, 2009
Ojukwu knew when to quit, but Diya and the other crying and fleeing generals (Ogundipe) fled even before you say Jack. Ojukwu stood tall for 30 months before quitting.

When some Yoruba elements insult a single Igbo man (e.g. Ojukwu), Igbos do not go about calling them tribalists. But when an Igbo insults a single Yoruba man (e.g., Awo or Fasola) that Igbo person is labelled a tribalists. Na wah for some people oh!

Does disagreeing with the hype sorrounding Fasola make me a tribalist? Then so be it.

Assembled in Nigeria with Chinese expertise. Good start.
PoliticsRe: Fashola Excluded From Siverbird 2009 Man Of The Year Award by Nchara: 9:31pm On Dec 17, 2009
Fasola's run with the press could also be called paid image laundering. None of these guys are saints. Afterall Fasola has issues with contracts award now.
PoliticsRe: Breaking News: Soludo Is Pdp Candidate - Supreme Court by Nchara: 9:24pm On Dec 17, 2009
Of all the candidates contesting, Soludo is by far ahead of them in every conceivable parameter. I only pity Obi of APGA who seems to be a good man, but then I read somewhere that Anambra is another Oyo where no gov makes a second term. As for Ngige, he should get out of Anambra with his AC. We do not need AC in eastern Nigeria.
PoliticsRe: JTF Closes 600 "Illegal" Refineries In Niger Delta by Nchara: 9:13pm On Dec 17, 2009
There are ''refineries'' and there are refineries. The ones in question are ''refineries''. Don't be deceived by the name and photo.
