Leaders of key rival political parties and camps including key supporters of both the self-proclaimed godfather of Anambra politics, Chief Chris Uba, and his estranged elder brother, Andy Uba, who was Anambra’s governor for 17 days in 2007 are expected to declare for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) today as the Vice President, Goodluck Jonathan leads a high-powered delegation to flag off the campaign for the election of Professor Chukwuma Soludo, as the Anambra State governor in the February 6, 2010 election.

The delegation will include all South Eeast PDP governors plus Delta State Governor, Emmanuel Uduaghan, members of the National Assembly, as well as key office holders in the party.
Scheduled to declare support for Soludo are all officers and members of the AC from the ward level to the local government level in the following nine local government areas: Njikoka, Awka South, Awka North, Ogbaru, Dunukofia, Orumba North, Orumba South, Anambra East, Oyi, and Anambra West.

All members of the AC in Aguata, Ogbaru, Dunukofia, Ayamelum and Anaocha will also declare for Soludo.
This is the third time Prof Soludo will be receiving defectors on a massive scale since his nomination as the PDP flag bearer in the first week of October. The first was in the last week of October when the Progressive Peoples Party (PPA) leadership in Anambra State, including 19 out of the 21local government area chairmen, joined the Soludo campaign at an elaborate ceremony at Government Technical College, Awka. The defectors were led by the PPA Vice National Chairman (South East), Chief Austine Ndigwe and the billionaire oil magnate, Prince Arthur Eze, who pledged over one billion naira to the campaign.

The party’s South East Zonal Headquarters was consequently donated to the Soludo campaign. The second time the PDP governorship candidate received massive defections was two Sundays ago when prominent AC members, including the state deputy chairman, vice chairmen, the financial secretary, as well as chairmen in various local government areas, joined the Soludo campaign at an impromptu ceremony in his hometown of Isuofia, Aguata Local Government Area.

Both Soludo’s running mate, Senator Emmanuel Anosike, and the Director General of the Soludo Campaign Organisation, Chief Agunwa Anaekwe, who was speaker of the House of Representatives in the Third Republic, were AC foundation members in Anambra State, with Chief Anaekwe serving as head of Dr Chris Ngige’s campaign in the botched 2007 gubernatorial election.

Chris Uba’s former associates include Prince Osita Ezenwa, secretary to the Aambra State Government under Dr Chinwoke Mbadinuju, and Chief (Mrs) Obasi Oyinbo. Both were among the 47 aspirants who competed against Prof Soludo for the PDP ticket.
In addition, Chairmen of the PDP in 14 local government areas supporting Chief Uba, who will join Soludo include those of Ihiala, Nnewi North, Aguata and Nnewi South.

From Andy Uba’s are Chief Patrick Agu, Uba’s director of planning and strategy, who was the state chairman of both the PDP and the defunct Social Democratic Party (SDP), and Chief Dan Ogbuefi, a leading industrialist and Governor Peter Obi’s kinsman.
All defectors say they are encouraged to support the erstwhile CBN governor because of his stupendous accomplishments and vision to make Anambra State the African Dubai-Taiwan (ADT).

The campaign will flag off at 11am at the Holy Trinity Field, Onitsha, with Soludo launching his ADT development blueprint. Soludo says the choice of Onitsha for the unveiling of his development blueprint was informed by Onitsha’s status as the cradle of modern Igbo civilization, as the most cosmopolitan city in the South East and as the place he will initiate a massive urban renewal programme which will be extended to the other places officially designated as urban centres in the state.

swezenberg:
My Observation and Summary about women from these 3 tribes, reduces from left to right while a / indicate the two tribe share that position

*late marriage: Igbo, Yoruba, Hausa
*Promiscuity: Yoruba/Igbo, Hausa (Hausa men are more promiscuous but their women are least, this might amaze you. Yoruba women still cheat even while married, Igbo women can sample 100 men before marriage but once they are married it's over)
*Hospitality: Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa (Yorubas and Igbos welcome other tribes but hausa are somehow violent)
*Tribalism: Igbos, Yoruba, hausa
*Neatness: Igbos, Yorubas, Hausas
*Parental Influence on the choice of partners: Igbo/Hausa, Yoruba (Hausas are pairing up with igbos because what ever the parent say is final for their women. Yorubas seemed to have come out of this archaic ideas)
*Honesty:Hausas, Yorubas, Igbo
*Cheats: Igbos, Yorubas hausas, (They will sell you. You know who I'm referring to)
*Backstabbers: Yoruba, Igbos, hausas ( This they call wisdom. Watch out!)
*Beauty: Igbos, Yorubas/Hausas
*Wealth: Yorubas, hausas, Igbos(men and women together)
*Achievement: Yorubas/Igbos, Hausas,
*Courage: Hausas, Igbos, Yorubas (Yoruba man can fear)
*Politics:Hausas, Yorubas, Igbo
*Intelligence: Yoruba/igbo, Hausa.
*Religion:Igbos/Hausa, Yoruba
*Terror: Hausas, Igbos, Yorubas
*Literacy:Igbos, Yorubas, Hausas

Pls you may come up with your own list instead of fighting virtual wars as it is the culture of some on this forum. This is just my own Observation, yours may defer. Let's be objective and honest. Mind you this list does not portray the character of everyone from these tribes. But this is the general opinion of most foreigners to me. Prove me wrong jare
Do you mind explaining how Yorubas and hausas are wealthier than Igbos? Are you looking at the small number of wealthy Nigerians or at the entire population of Igbo, Yoruba and hausa? Do you know of the poverty levels in Nigeria and which group has the least poverty? How do you measure wealth?

There is far less poverty in Igboland than other areas and that makes the Igbo population the wealthiest.

It is said that a woman’s beauty is her hair. But that can no longer be said of Angela Okiri, who was arrested recently at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport(MMIA), Ikeja, Lagos, over hard drug.

According to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency(NDLEA), she concealed fourteen wraps on her well braided hair.

The 31 years old suspect from Edo State, also swallowed fifty-six wraps of heroin and packed twenty-two wraps inside sanitary pad in her handbag.

Every naija tribe has male drug traffickers, though Igbo top there. But MOSTLY only Yoruba women are involved in drugs. I will post at least 10 articles if you are in doubt

I have browsed the net extensively to see if I can find any article detailing other Nigerian women involved in drug traficking. Most of what turned up were always articles involving Yoruba women. Why is this so? Are Yoruba women more greedy than others Nigerian women? The above is just one example but if you google it you will find many others

One can understand about male drug traficking but women are supposed to be the weaker sex not so?

By Simon Ateba

A 64-year old mother of six has been arrested by officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for ingesting 80 wraps of cocaine weighing 1.060 kilogrammes.

The suspect, Mrs. Afolayan Elizabeth Adeniyo, who resides in Ibadan, the Oyo State Capital, was apprehended at the Maurtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Ikeja, Lagos, while trying to board an Iberia flight to Paris.

NDLEA, in a statement this morning by its Head of Public Affairs, Mr. Mitchell Ofoyeju, said the mother of six children claimed she needed money to pay for her children’s school fees.

“I lost my husband 10 years ago and I have six children. A lady that used to give me money and food is the one that led me into the drug business. She wanted to take my daughters abroad for prostitution but I refused. I want them to be educated because I did not go to school. She took me to Benin where I swallowed 60 bitter cola. She then gave me N10,000. After that, she gave me the drugs to swallow and took me in her car to Lagos airport. She promised to pay me 3,000 Euro out of which she gave me 1,000 Euro,” the suspect narrated.

Another fifty-five year old mother of four and five other suspects were also caught by NDLEA operatives for importing and exporting illicit drugs. Two of the suspects were arrested on their way from Brazil while five were intercepted during outward screening of passengers.

NDLEA Assistant Commander, Operations and Intelligence at the airport, Mr. Adeofe Olufemi Adeyemi, who is also the acting commander, gave the names of the other suspects as Omolara Owolabi Agbeke, 55, Aganama Elechukwu, 34, Udide Afam Okwudili, 37, Chukwukelu Ebuka Peter, 32, Nwachukwu Aloysius Nnamdi, 39 and Okwara Festus, 31.

Another mother of four, Mrs. Omolara Owolabi Agbeke, who claims to be a sachet water hawker at Mushin, was nabbed yesterday at about 9.30 a.m on her way to London on Arik Air.

According to the NDLEA, the suspect confessed to have ingested 100 wraps of illicit drugs, adding that she was promised money for the act.

“I am married with four children. I have been selling sachet water at Mushin market for the past six years. I needed money to take care of my children because I am tired of selling water. I did not tell my husband because I know he will not agree to it. I collected the drug at Mushin market, took it home and swallowed it in my house when the children were not at home,” Omolara stated

Another suspect, Udide Afam Okwudili, was nabbed on Wednesday, 18 November, 2009 trying to board a KLM flight to Amsterdam. The auto parts dealer who has a shop at Sadiku Street, Lagos was said to have ingested 85 pieces of cocaine weighing 1.625 kg. “I was taken to a hotel at Kirikiri where they brought 100 pieces of the drug in an empty pack of Nescafe but I was able to ingest only 85. They gave me 1,200 Euro out of the 3,000 Euro they promised to pay me. I did it because my father’s burial comes up in January next year and I am the first son,” Udide stated.

Chukwukelu Ebuka Peter, a street hawker in Brazil, was arrested on Saturday, 21 November, 2009 during inward screening of South Africa airline passengers from Brazil.

He was alleged to have swallowed 63 pieces of cocaine and was to be paid half a million naira.  Okwara Festus, who ingested 87 wraps of cocaine was also arrested while returning from Brazil. He was to be paid half a million naira.

Aganama Elechukwu was on his way to Amsterdam on 14 November, 2009 when he was caught at the airport. NDLEA said he excreted 34 pieces of cocaine weighing 655 grammes, while Nwachukwu Aloysius Nnamdi, who lives in Spain, was caught on Sunday, 22 November, 2009. He had 86 pieces of drugs and was taking them to Madrid, Spain. He was to be paid 2,500 Euros. The agency said all the suspects will soon be charged to court.

The single most important reason why Igbo girls appear to be marrying late (as if marrying late is a crime and marrying at 13 years is good) is lost on most of you guys. It is because Igbo girls go to school more than others. For every 10 female in the university, 6 are Igbo. This data can be gleaned from the JAMB website.

Bode George is a Christian and he has 6 wives. Obj is a Christian and he has many concubines including his daughter inlaw. Multiple marriage in Yorubaland has nothing to do with religion. It is their culture to sleep with many different men and women. Even Nike Oshinowo (former miss Nigeria) is CURRENTLY in the news for sleeping with another woman's husband
