There is no doubt that the poster is Yoruba. No other tribe is interested in Igbo social affairs than them. Jona is the only other non-Yoruba who likes to talk about Igbo matters but he is in his own world and does not represent Ijaws.

There are many fatherless Yoruba children (single mothers); I wonder if it has to do with all these early marriages and divorce that is commonplace there?
RomanceMy Wife Says She'd Rather Marry Late Than Early Or Than Being A Second Wife by Nchara(op): 9:15pm On Nov 30, 2009
I showed my wife (she is Calabar and I am Igbo) the  thread on early marriage and she says she would rather marry late than early or than being a second (how much more 3rd, 4th or 5th) wife. She says she wants to be aware what she is getting into. I am older than her by 4 months and we just got into the 30s and we have been married for 4 years.

What option do you think is best for Nigerian women?

Early marriage
Late Marriage
being a wife among other wives

@ THE AMAKA, at 32 if you've not have your 2nd child, maybe there is trouble. In general I believe Ibo ladies are generally DEREGULATED and a lot of sampling are usually allowed wether marriage or not hence their men missed nothing for not marrying them on time after all sampling continue unabated! Igbo Kwenu!! I have another question, why Igbo men marry ladies that are usually ten or more years younger?
Another eddiot steps in. How old is Bode George and how old is his 6th wife (see photo above)? My wife is from Calabar and I am older than her by just 4 months.

The fact that outsiders now prefer Igbo girls to their own shows that the Igbo girls are not old. They are just at the right age. I doubt that any person will invest so much in an old girl. So this thread is void.
RomanceRe: Most Igbo Girls Marry Late Why? by Nchara: 6:08pm On Nov 30, 2009
The human development document of the United Nations (UN) highlighting poverty and development indices does not include marrying late as a serious socio-economic issue otherwise all western countries will be described as deficient in this regard. In contrast, early marriage is one of the unproductive matters that received great attention. So it is better to marry late than early. Late marriage can help to reduce the population of a country such as Nigeria. In addition it eliminates early-marriage/childbearing induced diseases such as VVF that prevails in the North. It allows our girls the opportunity to get an education as JAMB record has shown. It also prepares the girl for the long haul that marriage is unlike Yoruba where divorce (for flimsy reasons) is the order of the day. Bode Gorge has 6 wives and this beautiful young woman is the 6th. Which then is better: early marriage, late marriage, preference to be multiple wives?

RomanceRe: Most Igbo Girls Marry Late Why? by Nchara: 4:56pm On Nov 30, 2009
Perhaps, Igbo girls might marry a bit later than others. This is mainly because they go to school and that is time wasted. Take a look at the JAMB data, more than half of all female admittants into universities are Igbo girls. In any case I'd rather marry late than early (10-15) years like hausas do or be a seventh wife like Yoruba girls do.

Now why do hausas marry early and why do Yoruba prefer to be second, third, fourth and fifth wives?

Enugu Airport Closed for Repairs

The Minister of Aviation, Mr. Babatunde Omotoba, will today flag off the rehabilitation and upgrade of the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, Enugu State.
The airport, which was closed temporarily on Saturday for repairs, will be closed to traffic by January next year and airlines that operate to the airport will start using Sam Mbakwe Airport, Owerri, Imo State, as an alternative.
THISDAY learnt that the runway, which is 2,400 meters long, will be extended by 600 metres to make it 3000 meters or three kilometres and the width would be extended from the existing 45 metres to 60 metres.
When completed, it is expected that the runway would be wide enough to accommodate wide-body aircraft.
It is also expected that with its new status as an international airport, the airport would in future be designated for international operations.
The General Manager, Public Affairs of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Mr. Akin Olukunle, told THISDAY that the runway rehabilitation and extension contract was awarded to PW Limited and it is expected to be completed in 12 months from the day work starts on the project.
The cost of the project, which is N4.13 billion, was approved by Federal Executive Council (FEC) and would include extension and asphalting and marking of the runway.
According to him, this is part of the restructuring programme being embarked by the Ministry of Aviation and FAAN for the total rehabilitation of airport facilities in the country.
Last year, the Yar’Adua Administration upgraded the Enugu airport to international status in tandem with the new policy of having at least one international airport in every geopolitical zone of the country.
It is expected that chieftains of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) would accompany the Ministry to the flag off ceremony as the South-East caucus of the party will be holding a meeting in Enugu same day.
THISDAY also learnt that work started on the Enugu airport on Saturday and the runway was closed to traffic from morning till 4.00 pm.
FAAN assured users that the airport would not be closed until after the new year because of the influx of traffic to the airport during the Yuletide, when airlines would increase their frequency to the South Eastern city.
Aviation expert, Chris Aligbe, commended the effort and said the upgrade of the airport was overdue because Enugu is the fourth busiest airport in the country, which deserves more attention than it is getting from the concerned agencies.
He also suggested that the international flights should be designated to international airlines because the airport is situated in the business hub of South-East.

Nnewi auto fair opens
29 November, 2009 03:18:00 By JUSTIN OZUZU, Nnewi

The second Nnewi International Auto Trade Fair was weekend flagged off by the Anambra State Governor, Mr Peter Obi, during which the first made in Nigeria vehicles manufactured by an indigenous company in Nnewi, Innoson Nigeria Limited was unveiled. The fair will end on December 7.
The event holding at the prestigious Beverly Hills Hotel Limited Nnewi, also has in attendance manufacturing companies within the business enclave, and co-operate organizations.
Governor Obi who was represented by the secretary to the State Government Chief Paul Odenigwe described Nnewi as the maker of the Nigerian auto industry that had over time attracted nationals from other African countries and beyond.
He also noted that there is no doubt that Nnewi is the special hub of the industrialization of Anambra state, expressing hope that the business enclave will continue to grow in auto and related business both nationally and internationally.
Said he " I can say without fear of contradiction that the much envisaged Nigerian car which is already at the auto fair will come out of the ingenuity of our Nnewi based manufacturing company"
He therefore commended the Nnewi chamber of commerce, industry, mines and Agriculture for putting up the unique show, even as he urged them not to rest on their oars in keeping with the state’s long standing policy of promoting investment. He assured the chamber that their efforts will not only be supported by government but also promoted.
National President of the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA) Dr Simon .C. Okolo commended the untiring efforts and high sense of determination demonstrated by the chamber in organizing the fair in spite of some economic challenges resulting from the global meltdown.
Dr Okolo noted that the choice of the theme of this year’s fair, "Repositioning Nigerian Economy Through Industrialization-The Nnewi Experience" is very timely and appropriate especially now that Nigeria is making frantic efforts in its 7-Point Agenda and Millennium Development Goals to diversify the economy away from oil to non-oil.
Earlier in his address, the President of Nnewi Chamber of Commerce, Prince Emeka Ayabazu had expressed appreciation to all who made the fair a success. He noted the difficulties confronting the association which he said included the problem of raw materials and components acquisition, finance, technology, manpower, marketing as well as lack of government assistance in the provision of basic infrastructural facilities especially power.

Vice President Goodluck Jonathan
Vice-President Goodluck Jonathan on Saturday described as ``falsehood and mischievous’’ a newspaper report that he was under pressure to resign as a fallout from President Umaru Yar’adua’s health.

The Vice President said that the report published by a national newspaper on Saturday was designed to create unnecessary panic and tension in the country.

The newspaper had reported that ``the plan of those pressuring the VP is to create a situation where he would resign for the Senate President David Mark to take over for three months and then organise elections in the event that the President is unable to complete his term.’’

A press statement issued by the Senior Special Assistant, Media and Communication to the Vice-President, Mr Ima Niboro, urged Nigerians to discountenance the report.

``We have read with considerable dismay, the story, published today, Nov. 28 and wish to point out straightaway that it is false in its entirety.

``This story, we must add, is sheer mischief and dwells entirely in the imagination of its authors, their sponsors and co-travellers. Vice-President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan is not under any pressure to resign.

``This is wild and quite insulting claim requires no elaboration. Certainly, the general public can discountenance such drivel. As the Vice-President noted yesterday (Friday) and was widely reported in the media, the president is okay, and there is no cause for alarm,’’ the statement stressed. (NAN)

South africa has the highest rate of aids in the World but is the most developed country in Africa.
Sure, but Nigeria is closing in on south africa in number of HIV infected, although due to its smaller population, SA still has the highest per percentage basis
