From YommyUK: majority of that 3% are from Ondo or Ekiti State.YommyUK, I asked a simple question. Why do you think the Yoruba in Igboland are from Ekiti and Ondo only? From that statement it can be insinuated that Osun, Ogun, Oyo and Lagos Yoruba cannot live in Igboland. That is my humble understanding of your statement; hence a little more clarification would do. I am waiting. |
bawomolo:So? Are Yoruba not 50% muslims. Let me go listen to his accent and come back with my own verdict. |
yommyuk:Yommy Uk. So ONDO and Ekiti people are inferior Yoruba? I thought they are the most educated and least corrupt Yoruba? ![]() |
Tpia, Why is the Yoruba community in Enugu asking for Hajj money from a state govt instead of from the FGN? |
If the Yoruba want land in Enugu, they should pay for it. There is no free lunch anymore. Soon all the oil they have been drinking for free will have to be paid for. The time for free lunch is over And with this, I rest my case. |
Folks, Do you see how I have exposed the ignoramus YommyUk and how he in turn resorted to abuse and ethnic tantrums? So why should he not be told that he is from a tribe of generic thieves and shouldn't all these people be in prison like their high Oba Bode George? A tribe of ignorant thieves talking to better people can only happen in Nigeria. The ignorance of the average Yoruba was shown in Ondo state 3 years ago when the house of assembly was interviewing candidates for commisionership. Many did not know the capital of Edo state which is next to them. NOW the story making the rounds is that the judge who sentenced Bode George took bribe and gave him only 2 and half years. Even a Yoruba pastor and imam can't be trusted not to be corrupt. Awon omo ati baba ole buruku. |
So are you saying that Enugu state took FGN money meant for Hajj and refused to use it for that purpose? Is that what the article says? |
yommyuk:Do you have any proof where Igbo asked for and were given free land in the West? |
TPIA, When did Enugu become the FGN to be giving money to muslims for Hajj? |
Yommy UK, The article is clear enough and the people complained about not getting hajj fare and free land. What else is there to read? Do Igbos in Lagos get free land? |
Which free education? Would yo stick to the topic?? In any case, there is free primary and secondary education in Abia since the time of Orji Kalu, and that benefitted everyone, including the Yoruba living there |
YommyUK, Would you also admit that in a capitalist economy as Nigeria, it is wrong for a group to be looking for free land and free trip to Saudi Arabia? |
Aloy~Emeka:I know for sure. My brother is in the govt. But no problem he can come with all his family. No shaking. We can compete with him without bitterness unlike them who can't compete. |
I have tons of articles on Yoruba in Igboland, even in remote Ebonyi villages. I will be posting them here to enlighten the Yoruba ignoramuses. They do not even know that one of the top private secondary schools in Enugu is owned by a Yoruba man married to an Enugu woman |
sjeezy8:They are beggars because inspite of all that they do not want to spend money and buy land for their project or pay for their Hajj trips. They want free money from Enugu govt. That is lazy and beggarly. Not so? |
Yommy UK, have you read all my responses? You no fit talk again? Oloshi! |
The CEO of the taxi company came with Yoruba drivers, as usual with their tribalism. But no problem he is free to operate and we shall enter his taxis. No discrimination. |
This is for YommyUK Hello Taxi storms Abia with 100 cabs By Matthias Nwogu – Umuahia Friday, March 13, 2009 •Photo:Sun News Publishing More Stories on this Section Buoyed by the successful take-off of the Abia State urban taxi and bus scheme, Car Nation, a private Transporter has launched 100 taxies into the urban centres of Aba and Umuahia to ameliorate the sufferings of commuters. The taxi scheme, the first of its kind by a private body and known as Hello Taxi is seen as a welcome development which will not only augment the existing ones but bring in an alternative to the rickety cabs that ply the Aba metropolis Taxi operations became acute in the Aba and Umuahia metropolis since 2008 when government banned commercial motor cyclists (Okada) from plying the streets between 6.00 pm and am every day. The taxi scheme which is in partnership with the state government is made up with Mappler 50 cars which would give commuters a taste of luxury Briefing newsmen on the development, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Car Nation, Mr. Jimi Lewu, disclosed that Abia was their first port of call in Nigeria, stressing that the number of cars to be deployed to any part of the state would be driven by demand. “We are starting with 100 because we want demand to drive additional need for cars in any locality. When I say serviceable, the trend usually in a lot of places is for people to supply services without a maintenance contract. Our scheme has in-built maintenance contract,” he said. He explained that the decision to start with Abia State was informed by several considerations including the commercial nature of Aba, the peaceful atmosphere in Umuahia and the current enabling environment created by the Theodore Orji administration and expressed confidence that they would do good business in the state. Mr. Lewu, who hinted that the company would open offices in Aba and Umuahia including mechanic workshops, employ and train their drivers and ancillary staff, also disclosed that the offices would contain computerized taxi dispatch centers. “The scheme is not gong to be run by a taxi brokering scheme; that is what obtains here. We are going to be heavily involved in logistics management. It means that we will be involved in the operational efficiency of the scheme, then as we go on we will work with the transport unions to evolve partnership,” he said, adding that they would work with the transport unions after the scheme has been firmly established so that they would keep the standard already set. The CEO said the company was not afraid of competition because it has high standards as well as efficient service delivery adding that the project would be operational in five other States which he did not immediately disclose by the end of march with the overall goal of covering the entire federation by end of the year . He said the company would also establish mechanic workshops and employ drivers among other staff after adequate training adding that the offices would contain computerized taxi dispatch centre . He said the maple R50 cabs to be used for transport scheme was durable and strong for Ngerian roads adding that the company would manage the scheme before inviting the Transport Union While commending Abia State Governor Chief Theodore Orji for his support to the scheme promised to reciprocate the gesture by maintaining the highest standard and creating employment for indigenes of the state. If the scheme succeeds it would change transportation in the two urban centres which for a long time have not enjoyed real intra city commuting |
yommyuk:They are traders, tailors, workers in the civil service and in banks, in oil companies and other multinationals (for e.g., PZ in ABA, Nigerian Breweries Enugu), university lecturers, students, taxi drivers, police, soldier, navy, pastors. I know of many who are landlords with Igbos as their tenants. The biggest Single taxi business in Abia state is owned by a Yoruba |
Are those Yoruba in Onitsha also not Yoruba? |
You are just a serpent. |
Show us the proof? Or did you mean to write that the land Igbos bought with their money and build shops on, or shops they were forced to pay for for 3 years are being taken away and demolished as Fasola is doing? |
If not why not? |
YommyUK, Did you read the article about Igbos in Onitsha (I know some of you guys are very ignorant, so let me immediately explain that Onitsha is in Anambra and not Enugu- the topic of this discussion)? I just posted it so you know that Yorubas are everywhere too. Plus, did you at all read the ariticle which led to your original post? If so, what did the Yoruba in Enugu say about Enugu people/govt, minus their present complaints? |
This is the article. Please read and know the truth Yoruba Community Alleges Marginalisation In Enugu By Emmanuel Nzomiwu,Reporter, Enugu Yoruba community in Enugu State has cried out over what it described as total neglect and marginalisation by the present Enugu State government led by Sullivan Chime. The aggrieved members of Yoruba community, who made their feelings public through their leader, Mr. Ade Johnson Adeyelu, regretted that the group which was formed in 1990 and registered under then Anambra State Government had never before now experienced marginalisation in the state. Adeyelu said that his people voted for state government during the last general election and wondered why Chime’s government has since inception not cared for their welfare. His words: “We have passed through series of military governors and military administrators down the line to the civilian governors. “Over these years, we have enjoyed some sort of patronage from the government, patronage in the sense that some Yorubas then were given the opportunity to be members of the Muslim Welfare Board. As a result of that they were given one or two slots to participate in Hajj Operations in Medina. From that 1990, down to when Chimaroke became governor, we still enjoyed the slots that were given to the Yoruba community in Enugu. “There is no doubt we are facing a lot of problems in this state. We have not benefited anything from the present administration in Enugu State. We as a community we have participated in almost all the activities of the state. The last straw that broke the camel’s back was the present Hajj operation, which we recommended people to participate. But up till now, there is no single Yoruba man that belongs to the Yoruba community that was given any slot to participate in the Hajj operation.” Adeyelu recalled that since governor Chime came on board, he had written about five letters seeking for audience with him, to let his government know the problems of the Yoruba community but unfortunately none of the letters was replied. He also expressed disappointment that Chime does not care and had not asked leaders of non-indigenes in his state the problems their various groups are facing in the state, just as he regretted that the immediate past administration cancelled the allocation of land given to the Yoruba community to build its secretariat by the former military governor of the state, Navy Captain Mike Agbaje. The secretariat, he said, would have served as a centre where the Yoruba cultural heritage would have been sold to the people, adding that all the promises of re-allocation of another land to the community made by the past administration, did not yield fruitful dividend until its tenure expired in 2007. Besides, Adeyelu advised all members of the Yoruba community in the state to remain calm, law abiding and loyal not only to their host state but to the Federal Government as there is still hope for a better tomorrow for them. |
Tpia, All Igbo states have Yoruba residents and their number amounts to hundreds of thousands. If you do not like it, please go and join another of your brother Bode George in prison. Your arse will serve him well there. |
People have failed to read the article with some understanding. In that article, the Yoruba people in Enugu did acknowledge that Enugu has been treating them well until the current Gov came in. Perhaps the Gov's land was taken away by Yoruba people and now he is revenging. |
As shown by the article above, there are hundreds of thousands of Yoruba in Igboland, just like there are Igbos in Yorubaland. The difference is that while one group works hard and pay their bills, the other looks for free hajj and free land. |
This is for YommyUK, Yoruba community in Anambra State condemns kidnap of 21 Igbo traders By Okey Maduforo, Correspondent, Awka Yoruba community in Anambra State, under the umbrella of Egbe Omo Oduduwa has condemned the alleged kidnap of 21 Igbo traders in Owo, Ondo State, warning that it is a threat on the unity and peaceful coexistence of Nigeria as a nation. The traders were allegedly kidnapped last Friday by three militant groups known as Palace Boys, Eyin Ogbe Boys and Iloro Youths, who demanded millions of naira as ransom before they would be released. The militants had last year kidnapped 16 Igbo traders before the latest incident which led to a petition to the state Commissioner of Police Mr. Charles Dawodu, by Ndigbo in the community. Speaking with Daily Independent in Awka, Anambra State, the chairman of **Egbe Omo Oduduwa** in the area Baba Tunde Adegbenjo, said the incident sends danger signals, adding that there is no state in the country that do not have militants. "We want to condemn the action and attitude of these militants. We have militants all over the federation and they should consider the fact that if they continue with this other people will revenge and when they do, it becomes crisis everywhere. "So we are not happy with the attitude of our people back home who gather themselves together and call themselves militants. "The relation of any of those victims would look for people around to kidnap and those of us outside the Yoruba land or non-indigenes generally would become victims. If this type of thing continues we will have no option but to point to the residence of part of Yoruba land where these activities are taking place. "The place where it happened is Owo community, so instead of allowing them to go and revenge on Ogwoko man or Akure or Ondo town, we will now point to the residence of the Owo people among us; so that they will go and pick them. This is because things like this spread like wild fire and we will not allow that to happen." Adegbenjo further noted that security is very important in business interaction and such a thing can affect business between visitors and owners of the land. "If an Igboman do not feel safe to do business in Yoruba land they will not go there and those of us in Igbo land will not be comfortable and these are the type of incident we experienced some time ago, when the Hausa people had problems with the Igbos and many lives were lost. "We do not want this type of thing and this is how it starts. So we have to tell our people to stop all these nonsense they are doing. It will not discourage economic development and sound interpersonal relationship in the country." He urged the Ondo State government to take action quickly to protect the interest of the Igbo in the area as Yoruba and other ethnic groups are being protected in the South East zone; adding that the people at the zone and their respective governments have been friendly and displayed the spirit of brotherhood among visitors and settlers in Igbo land. |
yommyuk:You are an ignoramus? There are hundreds of thousands of Yoruba in Onitsha, Umuahia, Enugu, Aba and other Igbo cities. They are doing their businesses unharassed. They should not look for free land which is not given to Igbos in Lagos. Igbos are being killed in Lagos and the north. Their shops are been looted by area boys and alayes OPC men. Fasola is demolishing Igbo shops every day. These things do not happen to Yoruba in Aba and Onitsha and other Igbo cities. As for the Former Gov Agbaje man who gave his Yoruba people free land , he should be charged to court. Yoruba are always looking for free things to steal. They never want to work hard like others and pay their bills Useless people. |
sjeezy8 is Bode George's brother. He once said that. Like brother like brother. |
^^^^^^ I guess you have not been to the East: Actually, the once respectable Yoruba race have gradually graduated into beggars as a culture. Na so so babi anla, almajiri na him dey dey produce these days. They should not come here to beg; Igbos in Lagos work hard and do not beg for free things. If they do not have money for land, they should get some from their brother Bode George. He still has billions of our money. |
