Why would Jay-Jay retire when he could still play?

Maybe his age was exaggerated, but I'm sure it's not by much. Retirement in football is usually around 35. Some guys are just exceptional in their fitness, like CR7, Zlatan and Messi.

Maybe Jay-Jay is not 48, well, he can't be more than 51-52 in reality.

One of my ambitions in life is to study up to the doctorate degree level. Though it's actually superfluous considering that I have worked as an IT network and security expert in the banking industry for 13 years. I really do not see my self going into academics as I consider myself as a professional now.

However, for the sake of acquiring a phD, I have chosen to study online in a UK university. I have been offered an admission and about paying for tution. But then, isn't this going to be a waste of money? How valuable is an online degree?
